Augustus Waters was able to plan a romantic and liberated time in Miller Beach in Gary, Indiana with Hazel Grace Lancaster before his cancer won the war. After leaving the hospital, Augustus reached Hazel's house. By luck, Hazel was already standing in the lawn.
"Hey Hazel! You look so beautiful as always."
"Hello Gus! You look very messed up today," Hazel replied as she laughed.
"I have some exciting news for you!" Augustus says enthusiastically.
"With that amount of enthusiasm it must be great"
"Well, I thought of going to Miller Beach;if accepted of course."
Hazel while standing in the lawn jumped up as high as possible and cheered up the floor. Hazel permitted,"Are you serious?Yes yes of course!"
"Amazing! So out for dinner tonight."
"I would love that! Thank you so much, Gus."
Hazel ran away to Augustus and gave him the tightest hug she could force upon him.
She went inside the house to tell the good news to her mom, while Augustus waited for Hazel to dress up.
Hazel excitedly told" Mom, you're never going to believe what just happened."
"What happened Honey, is everything okay?"
"Everything is just fabulous! Augustus just asked me to go Miller Beach for dinner tonight."
Mom with concerned told," Wow, that sounds great! But are you going to be okay to travel? Or should I come with you?."
"But mom, you can't. Trust me, I'll be fine."
"Okay, okay fine! I just hope it doesn't get any worse than it already is."
"Mom, my cancer can't take anything away from me, look at me, I'm living my life."
"You're absolutely right. You can go!"
"Honey I guess you better start getting ready."
Hazel rushed up her stairs and to her closet. Hazel started whispering to herself by looking at the dresses, this one is too pink, and that one I have worn numerous times.
Before she knew it, the doorbell rang. Hazel's mom had to open the door, as Hazel was still in the process of brushing through her hair. Augustus called Hazel down as she was coming down the stairs, Augustus surprisingly staring at Hazel.
"Hazel Grace, you look amazing!"said Augustus
"Thank you Gus" replied with a smile in her face.
"I'll have her home by nine, Mrs. Lancaster," Augustus informed.
Augustus and Hazel moved towards the black shining mercedes car, where Augustus opened the door for Hazel by telling,"Special car for a special person in my life." They both seated in the car made their way to a fancy resort which was located in Miller Beach. Augustus exited from the car and opened the door for Hazel. They entered the resort and were greeted by a red dress hostess.
"Good evening, welcome to the famous Biller resort. Do you guys have reserved seats?,"asked the hostess.
"Augustus Waters,"answered Augustus. The hostess replied yes "your table number is 2". They both moved towards the table by holding each other's hand as tightly as possible.
As they seated they were offered with a glass of champagne. While drinking they both started talking and glanced at each other, Hazel broke the silence with an unfortunate news.
"Augustus, there is something I need to tell you."
"What happened Hazel?" asked Augustus with a bit of sadness in his voice.
Someday back I went in for my cancer screening, it didn't go well. My cancer is spreading all over my body, and I am suffering a lot.
"What do you mean?"
"I…..mean" with some hesitation Hazel replied,"O might not be able to go Amsterdam with you. I said yes to this date in case it might be my last date or last day with you ever to hang out with you."
"I always thought I was gonna be the first to go,"Augustus replied, smiling to lighten the wind,"Hazel Grace I have something for you," Augustus put his hand in his pocket and took out a necklace container, and passed it across the table to Hazel.
As Hazel opened the container it was a diamond necklace."Augustus,it is beautiful! You didn't had to. Thank you so much."
After an hour of talk both of them departed from the resort. While driving back to home Hazel thanked Augustus for such a beautiful dinner and for the necklace.
Hazel went to her house and in her room. She changed into her pajamas. She kept down her body on the bed while touching her necklace and passed away peacefully in her sleep that night.
