It was a beautiful day in Ant Island. School has just begun for kids. Ramona and Lukas were at middle school; Gina was the only one at an elementary school; Shadow and Richie were in preschool.
Meanwhile, in the anthill, Flik and Atta were helping their daughter, the younger Princess Flika, from being sick. Her aunt, the older Princess Dot, uncle Prince Valian, and even her youngest cousin Princess Adrianna, were much more concerned. The circus troupe were here to help their sick niece as well.
The kids were outside playing. Gina was with Misty at recess, since her cousin Flika won't be coming due to illness.
"Hey, Misty, do you notice my friend Flika sick today?" she asked,
"I hope she feels better."
Misty agreed, and placed a hand on Gina's shoulder. Then, she showed the sign of saying that Misty hoped Flika feels better too.
But all of a sudden, there was lurking in the bushes near the schoolyard.
"What was that?" Gina asked shyly.
Misty shrugged, as if she didn't know. Misty also put her arms around her friend with comfort.
After lurking continues, out jumped from there was a savage dog grasshopper named Thumper! Gina and Misty screamed. Thumper snarled as he stepped close.
"HELP!" Gina wailed.
Hearing that loud cry, Flik and his friends stopped what they were doing.
"Dad...? what—" Flika tried to finish her sentence sickly.
"No need to talk, just rest, sweetie," Atta said calmly to her daughter.
"Dim, what was that?!" Flik asked.
"Oh, honey, it's my baby!" Rosie chimed in with fear.
"Sissy!" Shadow cried out as well.
His cousins Richie and Adrianna gasped in fear.
"Stay right here! I'll deal with the situation," Dim said as he came up with an idea, reassuring his comrades.
Then, he flew out to find his daughter.
Gina and Misty were leaned against the wall while Thumper panted viciously, getting close to them.
But once he was about to scratch them at this time, something rammed him out of the way. Gina and Misty stopped shaking and spotted Dim in relief.
"Dad!" Gina cried out.
Misty felt awed that her friend's father was here to save them from Thumper.
"Hey, what're you doing here?! How could you scare my girl and her friend like that? You aren't allowed to do that at all!" Dim growled at Thumper, and began beating the antennas out of him.
After that, Thumper whimpered and flew away, back to the hideout.
"That's right. Don't let me catch you near my family again!" Dim urged as he pointed his foot to where Thumper was flying away to the hideout.
As Dim sighed, he scuttled over to Gina and Misty, who were very scared of what just happened.
"Kids, are you okay?" Dim asked.
"Dad! Who is that grasshopper?" Gina whimpered.
"He's Hopper's pet. Really dangerous," her father responded as he smoothed her body.
Dim checked to see if his daughter has any damage, including Misty. Feeling the soothing, Misty felt better. She showed a sign of saying 'thank you'.
Dim nodded back to Misty, and took her hand on his foot. Misty blushed, and smiled with gratitude. Gina eventually joined with them.
"Ow!" Gina wailed as she got hit by a thrown rock.
"Ha, ha! Scaredy circus freak!" one of the ant boys laughed meanly.
Misty gasped, and went over to Gina, who just cried softly. Misty hugged her friend in her arms as she saw the ant boy bullies advancing on them.
As Dim reacted, he got onto a defensive mode as well, like he did to Thumper. As the ant boy bullies stopped, they saw Dim snarling angrily and about to charge at them, panicked with fear and ran off.
Dim surely stopped growling, and reassured Gina like Misty was doing.
Much, much later...
Flik, Atta, Dot, Valian, the circus troupe and their kids were worried-sick, as if to wait for Gina and Misty to come back, since Dim just ran off onto a defensive mode. Dr. Flora was treating Flika, who was terribly ill in bed. But once Dim came back with Gina, who just said goodbye to Misty for a special hangout during school, their friends felt relieved.
"Oh, back so soon?" Flik asked.
"Do you have a good time at school, Gina?" Rosie questioned as well.
Gina whimpered, not answering. With reassurance, Dim said,
"Not so good, guys."
Their friends gasped at that answer.
"What? Is Gina in trouble at school?" Atta asked.
"No, but she and Misty got scared by a grasshopper," Dim replied.
"Aw, poor little girl!" Dot said sadly.
Flika sneezed out in reaction. Valian was at gape while aiding his sick niece. Shadow felt concerned as he scuttled to comfort his older sister. Gina smiled as she felt her little brother comforting her. Richie, while holding Adrianna, did the same. Ramona and Lukas, who just came back from school with Manny and Gypsy, felt concerned as well.
"Oh, my," Gypsy said with concern.
Manny reassured his wife by holding her hand.
"That grasshopper?! Oh, when I get my hands on that pathetic parasite, I'm gonna—" Francis said with enragement, but Slim surely held him down.
Slim reassured Francis while he, Heimlich and Molt frowned at that news.
"Oh, that's my ex-brother's pet! He shall pay for what he did to one of my family members," Molt said sternly.
Tuck and Roll crossed their arms as they said in unison,
"HMPH!"
After all of this conversation, the circus troupe and the royal ant family help Dim with reassuring Gina, who just had a trauma fear of what happened with her and Misty during school when Thumper just showed up in the schoolyard bushes.
In the night...
The moon shone in the sky with the stars twinkling. The royal ant family and the circus bugs helped Flika, and she was starting to feel better.
"Sorry, guys! I was kinda sick," Flika said as she blushed.
"It's okay, Gina had a good time in school today," Flik replied with a smile.
Dot and Valian nodded in agreement while holding Adrianna. Atta smiled and kissed her daughter on the forehead with passion. Richie smiled and hugged her sister, who returned it. Gina, Shadow, Ramona and Lukas joined the embrace. Then, the rest of the familyzbid each other goodnight, and went to sleep in their rooms.
Dim was the one up with Rosie sleeping soundly next to him. He scuttled over to check on Gina, who was shaking while her little brother Shadow slept with her, and their pet kittens in their own cat-bed. Dim nudged Gina gently, and smoothed her body with his foot. Once his daughter fell right back to sleep, Dim smiled softly, and nuzzled her with passion.
Once he scuttled back to the bed where Rosie slept, he chuckled quietly while looking at her. Dim leaned onto Rosie, and gave her a soft kiss and nudge. After that, Dim surely fell back asleep.
