My eyes slowly cracked open, fighting the urge to roll over and sleep in, but instead I found my girlfriend's side of the bed cold and empty. Bellial was already awake. I glimpsed her iconic silhouette through the ajar door. She always dressed to impress. Even on a lazy Sunday had no doubt already picked out the articles of expensive clothing to flaunt today.
I brushed my snowy bangs out of my line of sight before sitting up. I could feel the stupid grin spreading across my face. I stretched my arms above my head until my joints emitted a satisfying pop. That would surely get her attention. When it didn't I flopped back down into the sheets and cocooned myself in the fabric, waiting for the water to stop running in the bathroom.
I did not realize she was finished in the bathroom until the bed sagged under her weight. My girlfriend lifted the blankets to slip into the bed beside me. I didn't care for kisses, unless they came from my girlfriend. I craved her attention whenever we were apart for too long. I pretended to still be asleep until long, wavy strands of blueish green hair dangled into my face, tickling my nose. Whenever she dyed her hair, it usually became every shade of blue or green imaginable.
Bellial gave a girly giggle despite being very good at controlling her emotions.
"Good morning." She purred, throwing her leg over my hip, and her arm draping over my lower back pulling me closer until my head was buried in her chest. I inhaled the scent of her still damp, warm hair. My heart felt like it would explode. My girlfriend seemed content to lay here under the sheets for the rest of our lives. Her hair smelled as fragrant as a bouquet of flowers.
When our combined body heat made the two of us sticky, Bellial sat up to run her hairbrush through her long blueish-green hair. She asked me what my plan was for this lazy Sunday. She smiled and nodded while I talked. She enjoyed being the centre of attention. I indulged her by pausing to smile and ask her what she planned to do, dressed in her fluffy, coral pink bathrobe.
I watched her brush her hair, feeling compelled to tangle my fingers in the waves of hair tumbling over her shoulders. The two of us could not have been any more different if we tried.
"I'm feeling a tad peckish. We should have some breakfast before we continue to snuggle."
I followed my girlfriend downstairs where she opened the door to the refrigerator with her foot. Slowly dancing around the room to the soft pattering of my heart beat. She slid across the polished floor in her socks. She gave me a flirty wink over her shoulder to me. She looked a million dollars even in her bathrobe. I tried to distract myself by setting the coffee machine for our instant coffees while she mixed up batter for pancakes. The kitchen quickly filled with the aroma of coffee.
"Can I get some milk?"
"You can have all the milk you want, honey bear." She teased, bumping the door of the refrigerator shut with her hip. "How about some sugar?"
I fidgeted uncomfortably in my seat, becoming flustered as Bellial continued to close the gap between us. Her look was borderline predatory. Her hips swaying as she playfully pressed her body against mine, nuzzling my neck.
"Ahem..." I coughed. Helpless against her charms. "You should...uh...finish cooking breakfast?"
"Why?" She fluttered her eyelashes as she threw one leg over mine to straddle me where I sat on the kitchen-stool. "We have all day to do whatever we want. And I...want to tease you."
Her lips brushed over my cheek before she slid down off my lap to the floor. She reared up on her toes and pranced back to the stove where she prepared the frying pan to cook the batter.
"Aren't you cold?" Bellial was known for liking warm places.
"If I get cold, I can put my hands on you."
I was speechless.
"Oh! I have an idea. We should buy a dog!"
"A whole dog?" I could not imagine any dog being happy in this apartment. It was not small by any means, but we didn't have much of a backyard or a lifestyle to accommodate a canine companion.
"No. A puppy, silly. You like dogs right?"
"Yeah?"
"Great! We should see if there are any dogs in our area for sale. What's your favorite type? I don't like big dogs."
"Uh, corgis...I guess?"
"Start looking some up. These won't be much longer. How golden-brown do you want them?"
"However you like." I responded.
I started to search online, wondering what was going on in her brain. I was prepared for her to coax me back to bed after the usual cuddles and kisses. What a way to start the morning!
"I'm glad the rain has stopped. It's now the perfect weather to go looking at cute puppers." My girlfriend crooned. "Isn't that romantic? A nice walk around the neighbourhood. Just the two of us..."
I nodded. The more time we spend together, the more that I realize that she disliked silence. She lent across to kiss me on the cheek as she plated up my pancakes and then her own.
We ate breakfast, sharing the occasional kisses and cuddles before returning upstairs to get dressed. There were some potential corgis close by. Who knew they were so popular? Even if we didn't buy any of them, it was worth it to spend time with my girlfriend. We took as long as we wanted. Going about our Sunday morning routines.
After we were ready to leave, we spent hours staring at the ceiling, talking and laughing about everything that came to mind. Entwined in each other's arms. Well, me listening to her. Despite my sociability and belief in communicating clearly with romantic partners, I have a few secrets. By the time we were ready, the rain had started again, lulling us to sleep in each other's arms.
