Tony startled slightly when his phone started to ring. Tali looked up from her coloring picture as he got to his feet.
"Be right back, baby." He said, he grabbed up the phone and seeing the ID grinned, "Hey there, Probie!"
"You really have to stop calling me that, Tony." Tim said, Tony could hear the grin on his face. No matter what Tim said, he missed the chirpy 'morning Probie' every day.
"Why? You'll always be Probie to me." Tony said.
"Yeah well, now that I'm SFA I get to give someone else that nickname." Tim pointed out.
"True, what's up? How's Dee?" Tony asked, winking at Tali and making her giggle.
"She's good. I wanted to tell you something and it's kind of exciting." Tim suddenly sounded a little nervous, as if he wasn't sure how to tell Tony what he wanted to.
"Ooohhh, I like exciting. Wait…is it nerdy?" Tony replied, he knew he sounded like a kid, but he didn't really care. Tim was excited, so Tony was also.
"It was going to be…but I couldn't wait. We had a murder on a ship – and all the while we were working on it, I was freaking out. I…had planned this big… 'nerdy' proposal for Delilah-" Tony didn't let Tim finish.
"YOU PROPOSED?!" He cried, nearly disbelieving it.
"Yeah, I did. The proposal I had planned would have happened in six months. But when we solved the case. I found I couldn't wait any longer. So, I proposed to Delilah…in the elevator." Tim said, this is why he had been so nervous. It wasn't as romantic as some, and not what he had planned to do for his proposal.
"The elevator? Now normally, I would find that incredibly tragic, but you know what? Delilah and you are so perfectly matched that I know she wouldn't care where it happened or how nerdy or romantic it was. In fact, a lot of women prefer it when it's spontaneous and out-of-the-blue. So did she say yes?" Tony asked.
"Yeah, she did." Tim sighed.
"Good for you, Tim. How'd you feel?" Tony asked.
"Incredible, but hearing her say yes and seeing the smile on her face…indescribable." Tim replied, Tony could see in his mind's eye, Tim shaking his head slowly with a goofy smile on his face.
"Can't think of two people better suited. Not even me and Ziva." Tony said.
"What about Gibbs and Shannon?" Tim challenged.
"Never knew, Shannon. Not knowing, cannot say." Tony countered.
"I'm sorry to call you so late…though I guess it's daytime for you. I just had to tell someone." Tim said, Tony chuckled.
"Happy to listen anytime and I'm happy for you, Timmy." Tony said, honestly.
"Thanks, Tony. Think you could make it to the US for the wedding?" Tim asked.
"You bet, Tim." Tony paused, "Before you tell me about your 'nerdy' proposal – tell me about this Murder on the ship…" Tony spent the next hour listening to Tim 'nutshell' the case and then explain his planned proposal.
