Prologue - Looks Like an Angel

It's funny, sometimes when Happy is carrying him around and all you can see are the fluffy white wings protruding from behind him, he looks like an angel.

An angel wielding a flaming sword and a face of righteous fury, descending from the heavens to execute justice.

You see him coming towards you, with his fire and those wings and for a second you know there's no beating him, that this is the will of the universe, or God, or maybe just him. His burning will that cannot be extinguished, a certain defeat as clear as his bright pink hair.

And in that second before the pain, you feel the warmth of heaven itself, before the angel smites you down.

It's a good thing Natsu is merciful, it's always amazing to me how he leaves his enemies alive, even befriending them and helping them onto a better path. His kindness is something that I will forever be grateful for.

He saved me after all, that moment long ago when he took my hand and lead me home.

He's always been there to save me.

He's always been my home.

But Natsu is not an angel, and he's not perfect, and even his fiery will, which seems to come from a greater power than any I know, can't save me this time.

As the world goes dark, the last thing I can see is my guardian angel flying toward me, pink hair and fluffy white wings, his face desperate and sad.

I hope I get to see him again, in heaven or whatever comes next.

I hope he remembers me and that even though I won't get to say goodbye, that he'll forgive me for leaving.

I wish we could have been together forever.

It was always more fun when we were together.

The world goes black, I can't see him anymore, but I feel his warmth.

It's so warm.

And then I'm gone.

A/N: A new story! This idea popped into my head and before I knew it I was writing and creating an outline and I'm so excited to start posting. Of course, I'm notoriously bad at updating so be sure to review, feedback and comments help encourage me to keep improving and posting.
