Chapter One
Barry walked into the cortex with three cups of coffee for him, Cisco, and caitlin."Alright I think we can call it a night, nothing has happened all day." He said, giving them their coffee and grabbing his phone from caitlins desk.
"Dude, I made you a desk for a reason." Cisco said from behind his desk.
"You just made it, I need a little time to remember it's there." Barry argued back.
"I don't mind…" Caitlin said, finally looking up from her desk.
"Of course you don't mind, he's your boyfriend." Cisco challenge.
"What's your point?" Caitlin asked, drinking her coffee.
"My point! Barry needs to use his own desk." Cisco gave his point.
"Alright let's close up sho…" Barry was cut off by the alarms going off.
"Metta?" Barry asked once he was back in his suit.
"Meteor…" Cisco called out.
"Barry, it's headed for the badland's, it's going to intercept a plane carrying over a hundred people." Caitlin said in fear.
"Cisco breach me on the plane now!" Barry ordered.
"Barry I can't, I could miss and…"
Barry cut him off. "Cisco just get me close. I can phase in from there." Barry argued. Cisco did as ordered and opened a breach in front of the plane. Barry jumped and phased into the plane. When he got to the middle he used all of his strength and began to phase. It was too much to handle for one speedster and he knew it, and cisco counting down didn't help. He opened his eyes for a second and saw Wally in front of him phasing with too. The meteor went through the plane with ease, but Wally speed was spent and needed rest. Wally handed Barry an extrapolator and they went back to S.T.A.R labs. As Caitlin looked after Wally, Barry went to get a closer look at the meteor that landed. "Guys it's not a meteor!" Barry said through the coms.
"Please tell me it's not a spaceship full of hostile aliens." Cisco chimed in with fear in his voice, causing Wally and Caitlin to look at him with concern.
"Get the med bay ready." A second later he appeared in the cortex with a small girl with dirty blonde hair, he walked to the med bay.
"Cait, can you have a look at her?" Barry looked at Caitlin with worry in his eyes.
"Of course, put her on the bed." As Caitlin was checking out the girl, he joined Wally and Cisco in the cortex.
"Did you just kidnap a child?!" Cisco asked, a bit worred he might have to delete camera footage.
"What? No, she was in an alien pod which I put in the starcives. We'll go check it out tomorrow." Barry told Cisco which he fist pumped in response.
"Cisco, this needs to be kept quiet, I know you don't like to keep things from kamilla but I need this to be keept quiet, Wally you too not a word to Iris. Just till we know what we're dealing with." He asked the two men.
"You got it man...I won't say anything." Cisco replied.
"Why those two specifically?" Wally asked.
"They work for a newspaper, I know that neither of them would say anything, but it's just a precaution." They just nodded in agreement.
"She's fine, but she's in some form of cryosleep. She should wake up eventually, there's just no telling how long it will take for her to wake up." Caitlin reported to the boys.
"I'll call dad, let him know what's going on." Wally said getting up from a swivel chair and exiting the cortex. Barry just nodded.
It had been three days since the girl crash landed. A member of the people who knew would stay and watch her.
"Alright, I'm headed home for the night. Caitlin, Barry no PDA in the lab."
Cisco called pointing a finger and squinting at both of them.
"Cisco you know I own the building and I couldnot sign your paychecks?" Barry challenged from the chair next to the little girl with a raised eyebrow. Cisco groaned and kept quiet then left. Caitlin just laughed and walked over to Barry.
"I've been wondering, how do you manage to give us paycheks? I thought after the particle excelerater exploded we lost all of our funding?" She asked while sitting on his lap with her arms around his neck.
"Well we lost most of our funding, you remember Wells or Ebaord left everything he had to me?" He asked and she nodded. "Well that included all of his money, and his house. I got even more when I sold his house after checking if there were secret rooms''. He finished.
"So how much was that exactly?" She asked, now extremely curious. Barry just pulled out his phone and showed her how much was in his bank account. Her eyes went wide. "That's a lot of zeros." She said in surprise, her eyes glowed icy blue and laughed.
"What did frost say?" He asked.
"She said don't be surprised if your credit card goes missing". She answered, Barry just laughed. "So you're telling me that you're as rich as Bill Gates and you live in a one bedroom apartment?" Caitlin asked while giggling.
"You could put it that way yeah." Bary said giggling as well. "You know we could get a bigger apartment or house together. If you want, that is." Barry asked, his face heating up.
"Barry Allen Are you asking me to move in with you?" Caitlin asked with a hint of blush on her face.
"We've been dating for a year now, ..and I just wanted to… ask." Barry continued he was in too deep now and wasn't going to back down now. Caitlin was silent for a good minute and Barry was starting to get worried that he overstepped. "It's ok, I overstep…" He was cut off from Caitlins lips crashing against his.
"Yes..I would love to." Caitlin said when she pulled away. Barry couldn't contain his smile and kissed her again. They were interrupted by the girl screaming and speaking an unknown language. Barry and Caitlin ran to the little girl and tried to calm her down, but to no avail, she was scared and was talking a different language. Barry looked at her teary eyes, one sky blue, and the other emerald green, with a sense of familiarity to them.
"Ta nahn rraop? Ta nahn khap?" The girl was scared, she had her knees to her chest.
"It's ok we're not going to hurt you." Barry said with his hands up in surrender. The girl unraveled herself and scooted up to Barry. She hesitated for a second. Remembering what she was taught about learning a new language. She put her forehead against Barry's and they both got a small sharp pain in their heads. She pulled back and began to speak.
"Who...are…you? …am…I?" She spoke a bit choppy getting used to the language.
"My name is Barry, this is Caitlin. We're not going to hurt you, you're safe." Barry told the little girl while kneeling down in front of her.
"Safe..?" She questioned.
"Yes, you're safe. What's your name?" Caitlin asked, sitting next to the girl.
"Named...Kara." Kara answered, looking at Caitlin. Kara looked back at Barry and began tearing up remembering what happened to krypton.
"Hey, hey what's wrong?" Barry stood and hugged Kara.
"Gone…it's gone. zrhythrev….home..my planet..is gone." Kara sobbed into Barry's chest.
After an hour of getting Kara to calm down, and teaching her some more English, she didn't speak choppy that much. It was now 11:30 at night, Barry figured Kara hadn't eaten in a long while so he went to Big Belly burger and got some food for himself, Caitlin and Kara. Once he got back he handed out the food. Kara just sat looking at her food not knowing if it would be good.
"Are you not hungry Kara?" Caitlin asked, noticing she wasn't eating.
"I'm sorry but..what is it." Kara poked at the burger.
"It's called a burger, try it you might like it." Caitlin put a hand on her thigh to encourage her. Kara looked at Barry and saw how he was eating his burger and grabbed hers like he did. She took a bite and her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and continued to eat the rest of hers.
"I'm guessing you like it?" Barry questioned.
"Rao earth food is so good." Kara responded Barry and Caitlin giggled a bit at her reaction. Once they were all finished Barry cleaned up and Caitlin decided it was time to go home.
"Ok Kara it's time to go home, let's go." Caitlin reached her hand out for Kara which Kara happily took and they walked out to Caitlin's car. Kara got in the back seat and Barry put her seatbelt on. And went to sit in the front seat, but Kara stopped him.
"Kara what's wrong?" Barry asked.
"I..I don't want to be by myself." Kara answered and Barry just smiled a little and nodded, he crawled in the back seat and put an arm around Kara pulling her closer to him so she wouldn't be scared. Caitlin smiled and drove to Barry's apartment. The drive was quiet except for Kara who was excited from how the city looked. Caitlin parked the car and Barry unbuckled Kara and they got out of the car. Kara noticed Caitlin not getting out.
"Is Caitlin not coming?" She asked Barry, Barry looked at Caitlin and nodded for her to come inside so she did. Once inside they all got ready for bed, Caitlin dressed Kara in some extra pajamas she had for when she would stay over.
"Tomorrow we're going shopping for some clothes that fit ok." Caitlin said, Kara just nodded in agreement. Caitlin got in bed with Kara while Barry was still getting ready. Once Barry was ready he got on the other side of Kara so she was in between Caitlin and himself. Caitlin went to turn off the lamp but Kara stopped her.
"Can you leave it on? I..I don't like the dark." She looked at Caitlin like a lost puppy and she couldn't say no.
"Of course." She said. Kara fell asleep instantly curled up to Caitlin. Barry didn't know why he felt so protective of Kara, but seeing her curled up with Caitlin made him kind of happy like they were a family. Little did Barry know that they would become a family with many more to come.
