it was a Monday when Mrs. Irene Fredric Social worker got the call about an 8 year old girl who ran away from yet another foster home was found
She had run away again because she claimed she didn't need to be in foster care , that once she found her brother she would be with him ,
But Mrs. Fredric knew she wouldn't find her brother. he died in an experiment gone wrong at his lab. His Sister was on the other side of the door when it happened , but she didn't believe yet another family member had passed .Claudia Donovan was on her own once more
Her parents and older sister had been in a Car accident on the way to her science fair when she was five and were hit by a drunk driver , her parents were declared dead on site , but her sister was put into a coma , she was then put in the care of her older brother Joshua , who trying to prove a person could teleport he ended up in an explosion of which he did not make it out of , but being the Genius he was , he made sure to put Claudia his seven year old sister on the other side of the door so she couldn't get hurt
She didn't know what happened until she saw the smoke coming out from under the door ,that's when she got help , from her brothers Professor Arthur Neilson , he knew what happened when they couldn't find him and once he knew thats when he gave her to the police to take care of and she ended up in Irene's care and she had been running away and getting put back into the foster care system for two years
Today was Friday , the day Mrs. Fredric would put Claudia Donovan in the care of yet another Foster home , another one that Claudia didn't care about , but apparently she had to Promise Mrs. Fredric to let her Arm heal before she tried to run away again
her last foster home she was getting along with . Jessica the daughter was real fun to talk to , she even let Claudia play with her toys until her dad came home , because Claudia wasn't allowed to play with Jess because her father Jacob didn't want Claudia to spread any disease to his daughter , the mother Amanda was Passive about having her there , she would talk to Claudia but only until Jess came back from school which Claudia wasn't allowed to go to school , apparently School was for Children with parents , but Jess was teaching Claudia everything she learned when she came home , when Jacob found out he Broke Claudia's arm , by twisting it behind her back until it snapped this had happened a few times when Claudia had enough of telling doctors she fell so she then Called Mrs. Fredric and Jacob was sent to jail and Claudia was moved once again this was going to be her last home Mrs. Fredric said , the owner was a good man she knew him personally and he already had a few children in his care but all she told Claudia was that she couldn't try to escape until her arm was healed and she would probably share her room with the other girls there , all Claudia thought was 'Well there are girls there which means that i wont be able to go to school again , and i wont have anything to do , good thing i still have one of Josh's book to keep reading ' just as they pulled up to the house it was a quaint little house on the outskirts of town the weird thing was if a Man was supposed to be looking after her and all these kids , why was the place named after a girl 'Leena's Bed & Breakfast ' Looked alright enough as she walked beside Mrs. Fredric she heard her say "Be nice to this one Claudia , he is a nice man , he can be tested at times but he is good , he has Five kids in his care now you would be the Sixth, two boys and three girls , the boys are Steve and Pete and the girls are Helena , Myka and Leena , Leena was his first care and grew fond of her and named his home after her so be nice and don't cross anyone here , i would truly hate to have to reassign you , if i have to do so again , they will reassign me from your case and i don't want that "The older woman explained "But Mrs. F if you like me so much , why don't you adopt me? i mean if you could that is "Claudia asked stalling from meeting her soon to be foster family "Because Claudia a case worker cannot adopt their charge even if i wanted to i couldn't and i am very sorry for that , now hurry Arthur is a very punctual man "She said marching up the stairs "Yea...wait did you say Arthur ? as in Arthur Neilson? "Claudia asked wondering if it was the same man who Abandoned her after all these years just as Irene was about to answer the door opened to reveal a young girl maybe 16? years old she had dark skin and very curly hair she was wearing a floral blouse with a lot of frilly on it dark blue jeans and Black sneakers
"oh hello you must be Mrs. Fredric and Claudia , just wait one moment please . Pete , Steve go to your room and stop Staring , or no cookies for you two "She said but you could see behind her two boys run up the stairs on yelling "Faster Jinksy i want cookies later " While the other one yelled " Shut up Lattimer it was your idea " Claudia look back at the girl who answered the door and saw she was staring very intensely "Oh im sorry for staring its just your Aura looks so beaten up its just a faint blue and usually for a child your age its brighter " She said instead of saying anything Claudia just nodded at the girl "She doesn't like talking to people she just met i apologize for her , it Arthur in or at work? " Mrs. Fredric asked "He did request Claudia come in when he was ready for her " At that Claudia looked up at the older woman "Wait Artie wanted me here?" She asked perplexed "Wait Mrs. Fredric didn't tell you? "Leena said "Artie get in here now "She yelled through the house Claudia was surprised 'How could a foster child yell in someone else's house like that just as A girl walked by reading a book paying no mind to the strangers at the door as another followed her talking to her very fast in a heavy British accent "What do you want i was working , this had better be importany Pete better be dying or worse " said a familiar voice, as it got closer Claudia shrunk behind Mrs. Fredric more "Leena who's at the door? is it Kelly and her father again ? I told Pete to stop picking on her-"But his words were cut short by the sight of Claudia as Mrs. Fredric moved out of the way so he could see her "Oh my God Claudia , its you , You found her Irene you did it thank you so very much "He seemed happy to have her there only Claudia didn't under stand why Leena seemed to know she had this look on her face "Yes Arthur i found her i was the one to be assigned to her case in the first place i just didn't know this was the Claudia you were looking for "Irene explained once more "You have had her this whole time and didn't tell me? why not , look at her if you had informed me that you knew where she was she wouldn't have a broken arm now , Claudia Kiddo who did that to you ? and where do they live ?"Artie asked concern in his voice "Know what it doesn't matter you are safe now come on let me show you around welcome Home Claudia "Artie said as he brought her into the house just as the boys from earlier and the girls came walking into the room carrying a banner that said welcome home Claudia "Home" Claudia murmured to herself as she pulled her book closer
