"I will go", Percy said. "Piper can come with me".
"Are you sure?" Annabeth asked.
"Yes", Percy replied. "Aphrodite said that I must go and Piper can help with talking. They are siblings. They should get along great".
Jason didn't look convinced.
"Are you sure?", He said. "Demigod siblings don't always get along well."
"I'm sure Piper can manage", Percy said. "Besides, she has charmspeak."
"Percy", Annabeth said. "She is also a child of Aphrodite. And she is millennia older. What if she too has charmspeak? No offense Piper, but she may be more powerful and skilled in her charmspeak."
Hazel and Frank nodded. Leo saw them worried from the helm and came over to check what's going on.
"None taken", Piper said. "But it makes sense Annabeth. Besides I am bored. I haven't went out in days. I could use some fresh air."
"Hey, my ship isn't boring", Leo chided. "But if you think you should go, then go. I believe in you, beauty queen."
"Thanks Leo", Piper said. "So, are we agreed then?"
Annabeth nodded reluctantly.
"We should get going then", Percy said. "We will try to be back by sunset."
They went down the streets to a corner trying to find her. Aphrodite had mentioned her name but it was so weird that Percy forgot it as soon as he heard. It was something like San-Sim-,uh, let's call her S.
They were walking in silence. Percy and Piper weren't much acquainted with each other. They rarely talked. Whenever Percy was around her, he got the feeling that she was disgusted of him. Though she said nothing, Percy always got self-conscious around her.
Piper wasn't doing much better either. When she was at Camp-Half blood, she always heard Percy this, Percy that. At first she thought he was unimpressive compared to Jason. Though why she had to compare him to Jason, she didn't know. She had thought that Percy would be arrogant, always over himself with pride, after what he had achieved. Now that she had met him, she felt ashamed of thinking that. Sure he was insolent to gods and everyone who criticized and said something improper, but he was also very sweet. He had a weird sense of humor. Whenever he made a joke, she didn't know how to react. His love for blue foodwas also weird to her and his sea-green eyes… Piper couldn't help but wonder how Annabeth refused him something if he requested with those eyes. The look in them…
"So", Percy said, breaking Piper's chain of thought, "what's our plan? How do we find her?
"I don't know", Piper said, "You are asking me? I thought you had a plan."
"Planning isn't my thing", Percy said. "Annabeth makes plans. I just have some crazy idea moments. Not a well thought strategy."
"Then what do we do?" Piper asked.
"I guess we will just keep looking", Percy said. "Have you thought about how you are gonna approach her? Make her listen to us?"
"No", Piper admitted. "Tell me about her. What is she like? Will she listen to us? What did my mother tell you?"
"Let's see", Percy began, " She is very beautiful and powerful. She is very persuasive. Making her listen to us would be hard. Aphrodite said fo give her whatever she wanted from us or she wouldn't help us at all."
They kept walking for almost an hour. Sun was high and they felt tired. Piper suggested to take a break in a nearby restaurant. They went in and ordered drinks.
Percy ordered a blue soda. Piper raised an eyebrow.
"What?", Percy asked.
"This", Piper said. "Why do you always have blue foods and drinks?"
Percy explained the blue food. They sat and talked about camp. Then Percy asked what was on his mind since he had boarded Argo II.
"Why do you hate me?" Percy asked.
"What?" Piper spilled he drink a bit.
"You heard me."
"I don't hate you, Percy."
"Oh really? Then why do I get the feeling that you don't want me around? We are a team, right? Then why everytime I am around you, I feel like you think of me as a nasty rodent which should have been thrown overboard?"
"I, uh…, ok, you wanna know? I am scared of you."
She went on talking how she thought he would overshadow Jason, how he had almost killed Jason, how she was scared of his scary powers. When she was done, she looked up at Percy. She expected him to be mad and say something harsh.
But he just smiled and said, "Dam."
Piper frowned,"what?"
He smiled his troublemaker smile and looked into her eyes, "You don't have to be afraid of me, Piper. We are friends. I don't hurt my friends. Nor anyone, if I can help it."
Piper felt ashamed. "Whatever", she said. "What's the story behind 'dam'?"
Percy winced. "We should get going."
They came outside. It was late afternoon now.
"We spent too much time in restaurant", Percy said.
Piper didn't say anything. She was still wondering about the look he had got on his face when she asked about 'dam'.
