Small fic that popped into my head. Has nothing to do with the recent episode of the same title. Enjoy.

Hailey walked down the streets of downtown Chicago. Debris was scattered everywhere, flames and smoke shot up from the buildings blown to bits by the bomb. People were screaming, except for the ones lying dead in the street. Her ears were still ringing, so the chaos around her was muffled. She felt like she was watching a silent film before her.

The day started with her and Jay getting ready for a Blackhawk's tailgate party downtown before the big game. He wore some khaki shorts with a Blackhawks jersey and hat, and she decided to pull out a red sundress from the back of her closet with some sandals and a jean jacket. Jay couldn't believe his eyes when he saw her all dolled up. He knew she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, but today she took his breath away.

They arrived downtown and walked hand in hand to the party spot to find their friends. The whole team had the day off so everyone was there, including Will and some other guys from Med. As they laughed and talked with their friends, Jay kept an arm around Hailey's waist. He was too excited about finally being out to their friends and family and never wanted to let her go.

Adam and Kim had decided to go down the street to a restaurant that served over the top margaritas to go and they invited Hailey to walk with them. Hailey kissed Jay goodbye and promised to bring them both back a margarita.

She couldn't remember when exactly the blast hit. They were in line at the bar when suddenly she was knocked off her feet and into the wall. The force took the breath right out of her and as she fell to the floor, she thought of Jay. Then everything went black.

When she came to, Adam was bending over her. She could feel his hand on her face and one holding pressure to her head. He told her to stay with him and hold still while he went back to check on Kim. Hailey looked around her and it seemed like the whole building took a big hit. She could see the sky where the ceiling should have been.

Hailey got to her feet and knew she had to find a way back to Jay. She stumbled out what used to be the back door to the bar and begin to walk. There were so many downed buildings, flipped over cars, and fire trucks blocking the way that she kept having to take detours to get back to where the tailgate party was.

At one point, Kelly Severide intercepted her at one of the blocked off streets. She couldn't really understand what he was saying as he held her by her arms but she was sure it was something about the blood that was trickling down from her head. Severide pulled her aside and told her to stay put while he grabbed his med bag, but Hailey only wanted to find Jay. So when he left, she began to walk again.

Late afternoon was starting to set in and she felt like she was no where closer to where they had been. She was getting tired and the adrenaline was starting to wear off causing her head to ache. Finally she stopped. In the distance she saw a Blackhawks jersey.

"Jay!" She called as loud as she could muster

He turned around. Relief washed across his face as he ran to her. Her head was throbbing, her ears were ringing and all she wanted was to be in his arms. Jay picked Hailey up as soon as he got to her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist; his warmth enveloped her. She saw Will approach them and press something against head then heard him say something about her being in shock. Jay set Hailey back on her feet, but didn't dare let her go; too afraid to lose her again. He wrapped his jacket around her shoulders as they walked towards an ambulance. Jay kissed her head and pulled her close.

Finally, she was safe.
