"What?"
Alya felt the atmosphere become thick and tense the second the tone in Lila's voice just seemed to have... Changed. It was no longer kind and engaging, but bitter and a little venomous. Maybe she was just having a bad day... Yeah, that's it. She just got back from Spain where she participated in the Running of the Bulls for a charity event, and maybe she just had a bumpy plane ride. Yeah. Yeah, that's it. Everyone gets a little irritable after a bumpy flight.
So, taking a deep breath, Alya repeated what she had said. "I took your interview about being Ladybug's best friend down."
"Why-?!" Lila's scowl that lasted for just a second turned into a pleasant smile, but it didn't really ease Alya's worries. In fact, it just frightened her how easy it was for the Italian and to change faces so easily. "Alya, why would you do that? I'm sure everyone would love to know how close Ladybug and I are. Plus, it'll be great for your blog!"
'How have I never noticed her voice before?' Alya wondered to herself. 'It sounds so strained.' Alya knew that tone. She's heard it every time when picky customers sampled her mother's food and choked it down, not wanting to seem disrespectful. "Yes, it has been getting a lot of traffic since I posted that video, but I saw some comments that got me a little worried," she explained, hoping that would calm Lila down. It didn't.
"Wh-what did they say?!" Lila cried as large tears already started rolling down her cheeks. "Do they think I'm lying? I'm not! Ladybug and I are best friends, but no one believes me!"
Alya slumped into her seat a bit, trying to ignore the awkward looks of her classmates. While Lila sobbed into her hands, she glanced over to them, a silent plea for help. Kim and Max just shrugged, unsure of what to do; Myléne looked just as uncomfortable as she did; Ivan was pretending to look down at his phone; Chloé and Sabrina tried very hard to ignore the Italian's loud crying; Adrien was inching away from the scene Lila was making; Nino just shook his head; and Marinette, Nathaniel, Alix, Rose, and Juleka were just minding their own business in the back, not giving the scene a single glance.
Alya still didn't get why they didn't like Lila. Sure, she could get... Emotional and it's always a hassle to reassure the Italian that a small incident wasn't her fault or that they believe her when no one else does. Lila was just sensitive and needed friends to help look out for her. It's not easy being a busy diplomat's daughter who travels every week, missing out on events with friends... That's what Alya kept telling herself. And they need to stop being so brash with her and give her a chance. With Lila's connections, they can boost their dream careers. Marinette might run a fashion empire, Nathaniel could end up running Marvel, Alix will be in the X-Games, and Rose and Juleka's music will take off.
"Lila, it's not that I don't believe you," Alya placated, not wanting to trigger Lila anymore than she probably already has. "It's just that, some people in the comments section pointed out something that had me concerned." When Lila didn't answer, and just gave her an expectant look, Alya took that as the signal to continue. "So, they said that you telling everyone about how your Ladybug's friend might attract some unwanted attention."
Lila wiped away a few of her fake tears. "Alya, I'm used to fans mobbing me. After all, I was on the cover of Vogue in America."
Alya ignored Marinette's snorting in the background, and said, "No, not like that. I meant more... Dangerous attention. You know... Hawkmoth."
The room became deathly silent at the mention of the supervillain who turned almost everyone in the class into monsters. Most of them still have nightmares where they rampage through the city, hurting everyone in sight.
"Oh," Lila finally said. "I understand why you might be worried, but Ladybug will come to save me. In fact, I actually taught her a few fighting moves I learned when I lived in Japan for a while. While there, I even met so many manga writers and helped them with their books!"
At that, Nathaniel choked on his coffee, prompting Kim to get up from his seat and smack the redhead on the back. "Easy, man! Easy!"
"Hold his arms up!" Max yelled out.
Alya and Lila ignored them and continued their conversation. "That's great and all, Lila, but Hawkmoth is really dangerous. And if he kidnapped you because of that interview, I would never be able to forgive myself. I'm sorry. Maybe we can do a different interview."
The creole girl swore she saw Lila glare at her for a second, but then she blinked and that really, really sweet smile was back. She's never really noticed it before, but Lila's smiles just seemed a little too wide and strained sometimes. Like 'Adrien's model smile' fake. Not even Rose smiled like that, and she's the happiest girl in class. Is Lila trying to hide something? Maybe she's upset but doesn't want to put anyone off by her mood.
"Sure. That'd be great."
Alya resisted the urge to sigh out of relief. "Alright. I'll text you my schedule." She let out a nervous laugh as Lila took her seat, but not before grabbing Adrien's arm and pulling him close to her, making the model let out an exhausted sigh.
That's another thing Alya's been noticing, and so had a few others. Adrien always seems uncomfortable whenever Lila gets too close to him. Not like Marinette-at-Lila uncomfortable, where he would get angry at the sight or mention of her, but it's like just a single touch from her repulsed him. Nino came to her about it first, saying how he's noticed Adrien cringing every time Lila clung to or touched him, and she started seeing the pattern.
If this continues, then Adrien's gonna end up hating Lila like the art club. She just needs to learn boundaries. Maybe where she's from, it's normal to be so affectionate, but Adrien has enough people trying to cling to him. And maybe this will calm Marinette down and get her to see that Lila is not interested in Adrien. Alya's not sure about the others, but one is a start. And wherever Marinette goes, others usually follow.
"You okay?" Nino asked in a hushed voice.
Alya nodded, "Yeah. That was just... Intense." Nino gave her a kiss on the forehead before pulling her in for a hug. "Thanks, babe."
Lila was fuming in her seat. How DARE that tabloid writer take down her interview? How DARE she intervene with her popularity? How DARE she?! If it weren't for her, her stupid fan blog would be nothing! She has all of those losers flocking over to her blog so they can hear all about "Ladybug's bestie." Yeah, right. She'd rather lick the bathroom floor than be friends with that goodie-two-shoes pest or that mangy alley cat. Honestly, it's amazing how dumb some people are. But of course, there have to be one or two special snowflakes. In this case, six. The art club brats.
Marinette, the "Everyday Ladybug" oh, barf. Just hearing her talk makes Lila sick. She just needs to be good little Mother Theresa and point out every little flaw in Lila's stories. Then she has the nerve to go against her. Then there's Rose and Juleka who make her sick every time they kiss. They've been going around the school, telling everyone she's been lying! How DARE they?! She's simply telling people what they want to hear! Is that so wrong?! Then you've got Alix, the damn midget who wasn't even put off by her threats and had the gall to threaten her back! Oh, and the redhead and his boy... girl, whatever Marc was. They won't bat an eye at her, and always walk away or ignore her when she tries to tell them about her connections to amazing artists and writers for Marvel and DC Comics. They just scoff and walk away like they had something better to do.
She just hated all of them so much! Just thinking about them made her want to scream and throttle them until they stopped kicking!
"LET GO OF ME!"
Lila barely even had time to register what happened as she was forcefully pulled out of her seat. Before she could cry about how rude that person was for triggering her arthritis or some other ailment, some of the students, and Mme. Bustier were crowding around Adrien, who appeared to be crying as he clutched his arm. The freckled teacher gently coaxed Adrien into moving his hand off of his arm so they could all see the damage. Once he did, Rose screamed, Ivan almost passed out, and Nino felt like he needed to throw up.
"Oh my God! They went so deep in!"
"I see a bone! That is a bone!"
"Ew! It's oozing!"
"No one touch it! It'll get infected!"
"Dude, I'm gonna hurl!"
Lila didn't know what was going on until she noticed her fingertips felt a little wet. She held them up to her face and gawked at the sight of blood on her orange-painted fingernails. She must've used Adrien as her own personal stress ball while she was stewing in anger. She just shrugged it off, no harm, no foul. She'll burst into tears about how her carpal tunnel was acting up and made her grip around Adrien's arm tighten. And if these idiots try anything, she'll tell some pathetic sob story so they'll force Adrien to forgive her and apologize for making her upset.
"What the hell, Lila?!" Alix exclaimed. "Jesus, you tore some skin off his arm! There- Th-that is a lot of blood!"
Nino gagged. "Oh, shit." Alya rushed him over to the trash can and patted his back as he threw up.
As her classmates expressed their outrage and worry for Adrien, the floodgates opened. "I-I didn't mean to! My-my carpal tunnel was acting up, and..." She sniffed, "I'm so sorry! Adrien, can you please forgive me?"
"I don't think he's in the mood to answer right now," Kim said as Myléne wrapped her bandanna around Adrien's arm, apologizing every time he winced while Chloé held his other hand. He and the bohemian girl helped him up out of his seat. "We'll take him to the nurse."
Mme. Bustier nodded, "Yes, that would be best."
Lila shot her hand up. "I'll go too!"
"NO!" Adrien yelled, startling everyone in the classroom as they've never heard the usually polite blonde speak like that before. "Don't follow me!" He darted out of the classroom with Kim and Myléne right behind him, leaving the very stunned students and teachers to register what just happened.
"Geeze, Lila," Ivan whispered.
"It wasn't my fault!"! She screeched. Some of the students backed away, worried she might throw a temper tantrum and wreck the whole classroom.
"Lila," Mme. Bustier said in a calming voice. "We realize that, but this is a delicate situation right now. No one is blaming, but you need to calm down."
"But I-"
"And so Adrien isn't uncomfortable, I'd like for you to switch seats."
Lila resisted the urge to scowl. "But I'm sure if I just apologize, he won't mind if I-"
"Hey," Ivan piped up, making the class turn their attention to the brawny boy. "Adrien doesn't seem like he wants to sit next to your right now, alright?"
Lila didn't feel like disagreeing with Ivan. He could snap her spine with just his pinkie. "I... I guess if that's what Adrien wants."
Mme. Bustier sighed, glad that this was settled. Now onto the hard part. "So, who'd like to share a desk with Lila until when or if Adrien feels comfortable sitting next to her again?"
Usually, the students who believed her would jump at the chance to sit with the oh-so-interesting Italian so they'll get a front-row seat to hear about her amazing tales of globetrotting, meeting royalty, celebrities, and starting charities. But now they're worried. They don't wanna end up like Adrien and have her nails pierce their skin. They weren't blaming her, they knew she had so many conditions, but better safe than sorry.
"Nathan-"
"Nope!" The redhead clutched his arms and sent the brunette a warning look as if daring her to pull that stunt again. He's been giving her that look for a while now, along with the occasional glare, which she sent right back when no one was around.
Mme. Bustier looked to all of her students. All of them seemed uncomfortable with the idea of sitting next to Lila after what she did to Adrien. Yes, it was an accident, but her carpal tunnel comes and goes, and they don't want to risk that chance. So, with a heavy heart, Mme. Bustier said to Lila, "Maybe it would be best if you sat alone for a while, Lila. Just until your carpal tunnel stops acting up so much." Ignoring Lila opening and closing her mouth like a fish, Mme. Bustier turned to Marinette and asked, "Marinette, would you mind going back to your old seat?"
'Funny, you didn't ask me that before,' she wanted to say so badly and have the ginger teacher's face turn bright red out of embarrassment, but swallowed it back and just nodded. "Sure."
"Hold it!" Chloé yelled out, manicured hand raised. "Sabrina will have her old seat, and Rossi will be sitting next to me." The students were so shocked that she gave up the chance to sit with Adrien that they didn't even notice how Chloé narrowed her blue eyes at the Italian with so much disgust. 'No one hurts Adrien on my watch, bitch.'
"Chloé, are you-" Rose started, only to be cut off.
"Positive," she answered before storming over to Lila and grabbing her arm. "Come on, deskmate," she sneered, startling Lila a little bit.
The students who believed her falsehoods sent worried glances, but to who? They were worried about Chloé hurting Lila, but they were also worried about Lila doing to her what she did to Adrien. Then she'll be forced to face the Mayor's wrath for harming his daughter. They wanted to speak up and insist that Lila sit with one of them, but on the other hand... They don't feel like going to the nurse today.
"No-nobody else wants to sit with me?" Lila sobbed, expecting others to insist that she sit with them to show they don't blame her for what happened to Adrien, but they just stayed quiet while the Art Club sent her dirty looks. She needed to get back in their good graces. Maybe during lunch, she can make herself seem helpless and meek by claiming someone attacked her on her way to lunch. Yeah, that'll work. Maybe one of those art club brats. She could give them a few punches and kicks and claims it was in self-defense while looking like a total angel. That'll work. "O-okay, if no one wants to-"
"Great!" Chloé exclaimed as she dragged Lila over to her new desk and shoved her into her seat. "Try anything, and my father will sue your hideous romper off."
"Knock it off, Chloé," Alya muttered as she took her seat, astonishing Lila. No rushing to her defense? No snapping at the insult? Just THAT?! Just these idiots wait.
Adrien was able to make it back to class, just thirty minutes before science, arm bandaged up. He was relieved to see that Lila had moved and he was snow sitting next to Sabrina, so nice and not clingy. He was shocked to see that Chloé hadn't seized the opportunity to sit next to him, but he wasn't complaining. Just as long as Lila stayed far, far away from him and his other arm.
After that dull science class with Mendelieve, Lila just felt like hitting her head against a locker over and over again. God, that teacher was boring and so irritating! She had the nerve to tell Lila to be quiet when she was talking to Alya about her connections to famous journalists, hoping to get back in her graces, and then she made her stay after class so they could discuss her five missing assignments. The strict woman was not accepting her excuses and even threatened her with a call to her mother if she doesn't turn those assignments in by the end of the week. She needed to find that damn homework.
Now she was a few minutes late for lunch, and Marinette, Nathaniel, Alix, Juleka, and Rose were already in the cafeteria, so she couldn't cry about how one of them jumped her in the hallway. She needed a new plan, something that'll get her sympathy points and make them all forget that incident earlier in class. She could pretend to fall down the stairs, maybe say she got a call from her mom that her grandmother died.
She was so busy fuming over that damn teacher, her idiot classmates, everyone in this pathetic school, that she didn't notice a blur of red until she collided with it and fell on her butt. Hard. The one who bumped into her, a feminine-looking boy wearing a rainbow shirt and makeup. His eyes widened in shock.
"Oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry!"
Lila got a better look at the boy who had some nerve and recognized him as Marc Anciel, Nathaniel's boyfriend. She scowled, remembering how this jerk called her out in front of Aurore and Mireille. She was so close to dragging them over to her side, but no! He has to be like Marinette and be some self-righteous goody-two-shoes prick. Guess it runs in the family.
When Marc got a look at who he bumped into, his concern wavered a bit. "Oh. It's you." But, she was still a human being who can physically hurt. "Are you okay?" Curse his moral compass. He held out his gloved hand for Lila to take so he could help her up... She had a different idea. "Hey, why are you, OW!"
Lila gripped Marc's hand so tight that her nails were almost digging through his gloves and into his skin. She got back up and bent the boy's hand back, making him scream. She honestly didn't care if anyone was around. He deserved this for all the times he's humiliated her with Nathaniel, and for having the nerve to not go along with her lies like the rest of those stupid sheep!
"Stop it!" Marc yelled as he pulled his hand out of Lila's vice-like grip, in the process, losing his glove and earning himself a few scratches that stung a little bit when exposed to the air. But Lila wasn't done with him yet. She pushed him up against a wall and started throwing punches at his face, getting some of his makeup on her fists, causing his lip to split, and a bruise to form under this eye. "GET OFF OF ME!" He tries to push the Italian away, but she grips both of his hands and squeezes them until he cries.
This satisfied her to no end until someone yelled, "HEY!"
Lila pushed herself off of Marc and pinched her wrists, making her cry, and she quickly scratched her face so it would look like there was a struggle. Students shouted and gasped when they saw Marc holding his slightly bleeding hand over his bruise and Lila standing in front of him, looking frantic as she tried to subtly scratch her skin.
"What the hell did you do?!"
"Shit!"
"Oh my God!"
"Get away from him!"
Once again, Lila has been yanked away from another victim and tossed carelessly to the side while the students checked to make sure Marc was okay. She saw all of the angry and accusing eyes on her, and put another show or looking like the real victim. "He-he attacked me!" Lila shouted, tears already pouring down her face. "I got scared, an-and I was just defending myself-"
"SHUT UP!"
The frantic and angry students flinched and quickly parted for the owner of the furious voice, who was revealed to be Nathaniel, looking pissed and like a rabid animal when he locked eyes with Lila. She was petrified, unable to move or blink, almost worried that if she did, Nathaniel would somehow appear right in front of her in a millisecond. Never before has she seen him look so enraged. Maybe when she claimed to have inspired one of his favorite Manga writers, seriously, that boy needs to get a life, but that was nothing.
After an intense silence, he spoke. "... I once punched a boy in the face just for stealing one of my sketches." Said boy, a blonde wearing a purple shirt disappeared into the crowd. He takes a few steps forward, prompting the students to take a step or two back away from him. Even the jocks looks terrified of the scrawny boy. "So just imagine exactly what I am going to do to YOU!"
Lila braced herself for the oncoming attack from the redhead and covered her already scratched face. She waited... And waited... And waited some more. But nothing happened. Did he kill her? She slowly opened her eyes, which widened when she saw Nathaniel, just a few feet away from her and snarling like a rabid dog while Kim and Ivan, two of the strongest guys in school were struggling to keep him from murdering her. Although, it looked like they wouldn't mind letting him tear her apart.
Alix ran between the two and tried to push Nathaniel away from Lila. She turned to the liar with a menacing glare. "Get the fuck out of here before I let Nath rip your head off!"
"But I didn't-"
"Leave!" Marinette screamed as Juleka and Rose checked to make sure her cousin was okay. "Just go, Lila! I don't want to see your face-" Alya's hand on her shoulder calmed the Eurasian down a little bit, but it still looked like she wanted Lila dead; everyone could see it in her eyes. It's a known fact that the Cheng's put family first and enemies beneath their feet.
"Get out of here," Alya whispered, looking embarrassed and like she wanted to go home and crawl under her sheets before taking down every single thing she posted about Lila, now that she knew what the nice girl she had admired for so long was really like.
Lila darted her eyes around, hoping there was one understanding face, someone who had to be on her side. But all she saw were glares and some people pulling metal rulers out of their backpacks. They looked ready to use them, too. Kim and Ivan looked about ready to let go of Nathaniel and sic him on her. God, where was an Akuma when she needed one? She was beyond humiliated and mad that everything was going wrong! Where's Hawkmoth with the free powers?!
"AKUMA!" Aurore screamed.
Lila smirked. Perfect. She looked around for the evil butterfly, and it seemed like some people noticed because Jean Duparc and Ismael Prisk were pulling her away. "HEY! Let me go!" She looked up and saw the Akuma flying into the school from the open roof and going towards the crowd of students, looking for the one with the strongest negative emotions to turn into a villain. She struggled to pry herself out of their grips, but it was too late. The Akuma dove into Nathaniel's ring.
Everyone backed away when they saw the Akuma symbol appear over Nathaniel's face and the skin around his eyes turn red.
"Nath!" Marc cried and went to snap his boyfriend out of it, but Juleka had her arms wrapped tight around him. Marinette and Adrien took the opportunity to sneak off and transform (Separately).
"Dragon Guard, I am Hawkmoth. It would seem as though some people don't know the most important rule: Never mess with a dragon's treasure. I shall offer you the power to protect what is yours from undesirables, but in return, you must give me Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculous!"
"Yes, Hawkmoth."
The familiar black and purple mist bubbled up from Nathaniel's ring and engulfed him. Students were either backing away or running before the Akuma attacked. Once the mist disappeared, Dragon Guard, a tall, brawny, red in color Akuma stood in Nathaniel's place. His whole body was a light red color, lighter than his spikey red hair that almost resembled fire with two large grey horns poking through, and his scaly dragon wings and tail. The pants of the sleeveless bodysuit had tears, the minimal gold armor with hints of red shimmered, and his sharp black claws were exposed by the fingerless gloves.
He lifted his head up, revealing his black sclera and fanged smile before whipping out his sword with a gold handle.
"N-Nath?" Dragon Guard whipped his head towards the pinkette, making her flinch under his gaze, and start trembling when he raised his sword. "He-hey, just p-put the sword- AAH!" A bright red beam shot from the tip of the weapon and hit her in the chest, engulfing the skater in a bright red light. The light faded seconds later, revealing a knight around Alix's height wearing black armor with red highlights, and holding a sword. "I live to serve thee, Dragon Guard," she answered automatically. "What are my orders?"
Dragon Guard turned to Lila and smirked. "Seize her!"
The second Alix let out a battle cry, Lila stepped on her two captors' feet, making them let go as they let out yelps of pain, and made a break for it while the knight ran after her with her sword raised high. Seeing Dragon Guard's sword glowing again, the students took off, not wanting to end up a mindless knight like Alix, but they weren't so lucky. About twenty more students, and a few teachers who stepped in to see what all the commotion was have been transformed into knights, and followed Dragon Guard's command of capturing Lila, who had escaped and ran into the city.
"Stop her! Destroy anyone who dares to stand in your way!"
Dragon Guard spread his swings, prepared to take off and go find Lila himself, but paused when he noticed Marc, down in the courtyard, hiding under the staircase with Juleka and Rose, who also managed to avoid being turned into knights. Something just took over inside him, making him jump down from the mezzanine and land with a loud thud. He and Marc locked eyes, one pair pleading, the other enamored. The tip of the sword glowed a soft pink as the Akuma's grip tightened around the handle, and a beam was shot at Marc, making him stumble back as he was engulfed by a pink light.
Juleka and Rose ran to his aid. "Marc!"
"Come to me, my treasure," the Akuma whispered.
Marc hiked up the dress he now donned, a sleeveless blood-red gown with black lace accompanied by black opera gloves, a black choker necklace with a ruby flame-shaped charm, and a silver tiara with tiny rubies scattered about. He walked towards Dragon Guard, much to the protests of Juleka and Rose, and fell into the Akuma's muscular arms, nuzzling into the golden breastplate with a black Akuma symbol on the front.
"My sweet, sweet treasure," he cooed, kissing the bruise on his boyfriend's cheek. "You're too pure for this dreadful world, aren't you?" He leans down to kiss Marc's forehead, making him blush. "Cute." Seeing Rose and Juleka boldly running towards them, he blasted the two girls with a purple beam, which resulted in their clothes turning into Medieval lace-up dresses in their respective colors.
At the sight of Marc, they curtsied, "Your majesty."
Dragon Guard placed one arm around Marc's back, the other around the bend of his knees, and lifted him up with ease. Before he could take off, Ladybug's voice yelled out.
"Nathaniel!"
Dragon Guard snarled when he saw Ladybug and Chat Noir drop down in front of him and brandish their weapons like he was the threat when Lila was the one who had hurt his treasure. "Get out of my way," he grimaced. When they didn't move and instead cautiously approached him, he whispered to Marc, "Look away, treasure." Marc did as he was told. Dragon Guard took a deep breath and breathed fire right at the heroes, who ducked out of the way. He then used this opportunity to fly out through the open roof of the school and into the city with only one thing on his mind: kill Lila.
Dragon Guard landed on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower and set Marc down gently on the floor, smiling fondly as he clung to his arm, still so afraid of heights after his time as Reverser. "My treasure, I swear only two things. To be loyal and to serve only you." He takes one of Marc's hands and kisses it. "And to never rest until that pariah is brought to justice for the pain she has caused you."
"Will she suffer?" Marc asked, green eyes glistening with hope.
The Akuma kissed his forehead. "So much." He drew out his sword, inhaled deeply, then blew fire on the blade, setting it aflame before he trusted it in the air. This sent a red beam into the sky that caused the skies to darken, giving civilians flashbacks of Darkblade. A red aura spread around the city, reconstructing buildings so they resemble Medieval architecture, removed all forms of technology, made all modes of transportation horse-powered, turned streets and parks into old marketplaces, and made all clothing Medieval style. The last thing to change was the Eiffel Tower, now a castle with a gothic charm.
The forty knights who used to be DuPont students and teachers, patrolled the streets, still hunting down Lila while the startled civilians try to comprehend what just happened.
Ladybug and Chat Noir were leaping from roof to roof, trying to find Dragon Guard, but stopped when the red aura hit them. Nothing major, it just changed their outfits to fit the Medieval theme that seems to be going on. Now instead of the skin-tight suits, they wore knight armor. Ladybug's armor heavily resembled Joan of Arc's armor, only the metal parts were black and she wore a red cloak with black spots scattered around the hem. Chat Noir's armor looked similar to Darkblade's but the red parts were his signature green and he had a paw print emblem on the breastplate.
"What's going on?" Ladybug wondered as she stared down at her gauntlets and felt the bun her hair was tied into.
"It's not just us, m'lady," Chat Noir said as he pointed to the town. Civilians were dressed as peasants and trying not to get on the knights' bad sides while the knights questioned if anyone has seen Lila. "How come we didn't turn into his knights?"
Ladybug hummed in thought. "Maybe it has to be a direct blast. Whatever he did, didn't take away people's free will like the knights. They're still aware of what's going on."
"So, avoid blasts from his sword," Chat Noir remarked. "Noted. Let's go storm the castle!" Before he could vault off, a hushed voice called out his and Ladybug's names.
They looked around for a few seconds until they spotted Alya, dressed in a white peasant blouse with an orange skirt and brown apron beckoning for them in an alleyway. The two complied and ran into the alley where they were met with not only Alya but Nino, too, dressed in a white peasant shirt with a dark blue vest and black riding pants.
"Alya, Nino, are you alright?" Ladybug asked.
"We're fine, but you guys aren't," she warned. "Before he sent us back to the Middle Ages, we overheard Dragon Guard commanding his knights to also hunt down anyone who tries to interfere with his plans. That includes you two."
Ladybug and Chat Noir sent each other worried looks. It was always a bit of a struggle dealing with armies created by the Akumas they've faced. Fortunately, there were only about thirty or forty knights instead of the entire city.
Chat Noir asked, "What are his plans?"
"If I have to guess," Nino points behind them. "Execution."
Stunned, Ladybug and Chat Noir peer out from the alley and see a knight who seems to be threatening a man they recognized as the local repairman, now a blacksmith. In their gauntlet, the knight held up an unfurled scroll. The blacksmith nodded fearfully and took the scroll.
"Oh my God," Ladybug shuddered. "Do either of you know where Lila is?"
The two scowled for a brief moment, trying to think of where the girl they used to think of as a friend had run off to. "We're not sure," Nino answered bitterly. "But Dragon Guard's got like thirty of the knights searching and not resting until they find her." To prove his point, he points to two knights turning over barrels and stabbing sacks that are actually filled with fruit. Ladybug cringed a bit, disturbed by the lengths Dragon Guard was willing to go to in order to avenge Marc. "The rest are guarding the castle where Dragon Guard and Marc are." Off their confused looks, he added, "Dragon Guard turned the Eiffel Tower into a castle."
"Did any of your classmates make it out before they got knighted?" Chat Noir asked.
Nino took Alya's hand as she shook her head solemnly. "Not a lot. He got Alix, Ivan, Sabrina, Myléne, and I think Adrien and Marinette." At that last name, a tear streamed down her cheek. "God, we should've believed her about Lila, then none of this would've happened."
Feeling sympathy for the bespectacled girl, Ladybug rested her hand on Alya's shoulder and gave her a faint smile. "I'm sure Marinette, wherever she is right now, doesn't blame you for whatever happened. You're a good person Alya, you and your friends. You all want to see the best in people." What her friends did was... Just awful, and it hurt her a bit when they chose Lila, but deep down, Marinette knew that they were all too trusting of others and didn't want to think badly of people. "And just to clarify, Lila and I are not, and never will be best friends."
"That title belongs to me," Chat Noir piped up, making Ladybug roll her eyes in a playful manner, making the couple snicker.
Alya wiped away her tears. "I'll remember that for when this is all over and I can give that bitch a piece of my mind," she smirked, cracking her knuckles as she thought of all the ways she could pummel Lila. What she did to Marc earlier just opened her eyes, exposing her to the truth. Lila Rossi truly is a liar, evident by how she tried to pin the blame on Marc to protect herself, and she's evil. She doesn't think anyone saw her try to grab that Damned Akuma, but everyone did. A part of her wants Dragon Guard to make her suffer, but then another part that sounds a lot like Trixx is nagging her to do the right thing and know justice from revenge.
"Stay safe, you two," Chat Noir said before vaulting off, Ladybug swinging after.
Alya and Nino made their way out of the alley and walked through the small shopping center, ignoring the grunts of the blacksmith as he hammered out what looked like the blade piece for a guillotine.
"You don't think Nathaniel would actually... Behead," Nino said the word like it was forbidden. "Lila, do you?"
"I don't know, Nino, you saw how he was when she beat up Marc," Alya reminded him, mentally facepalming as she remembered. "But, Nino, you know we have to do the right thing if we see her and..." She looks around, making sure no knights are in sight before whispering, "Help her escape."
Nino groaned at the thought of having to help the person who started all of this but relented. "Fine. But if she twists an ankle for real, I'm not carrying her."
"Well neither am I, so-"
"HEY!" The entire center went quiet when a knight, who sounded an awful lot like Sabrina and was even the same height, shouted. She pointed her sword at Alya and Nino. "Did I hear correctly? Traitors conspiring with the pariah? Going against their majesty and head guard?"
Knights not too far away began to close in on the two. Parisians kept their noses out of it, not wanting the same fate.
"Well, uh-um," Nino stammered. "We were just discussing how... ALYA, RUN!" He grabbed Alya's hand and pulled her away from the marketplace.
"AFTER THEM!" One of the knights yelled.
Alya and Nino were so glad they took up parkour in case Ladybug called for Rena Rouge and Carapace again. They jumped over wheelbarrows, slid under carriages, and did aerial flips over bystanders without breaking a sweat. Even though they had a headstart, they barely managed to escape. Out of the knights' fields of vision, Alya and Nino rounded a corner, and they all ran right past them, much to their relief.
"Damn," Alya panted. "That was way too close."
"Yeah, but now we're public enemies two and three!" Nino exasperate. "Maybe if we're quick, we can make it to one of our homes and hide out there until this all blows over."
"Alright," Alya said as she began removing her apron and put it over her head, making it act like a hood. Nino tilted his Tudor flap cap down so it covered his face a bit. "You don't think anyone is gonna sell us out, do you?"
"If it means for them not getting knighted, they probably would," Nino muttered. He took Alya's hand and lead her around the market, hiding every five minutes when knights would pass by. They were almost to Alya's home. Just a few more blocks...
"FOUND YOU!" Their shoulders were harshly grabbed by one of the knights who had Kim's height and build. They didn't even see him get knighted when Dragon Guard attacked the school.
"Dude, it's us!" Nino pleaded, but the knight didn't respond. "Come on, let us go!"
"All traitors must be dealt with by Dragon Guard," he said before grabbing the backs of their clothes and dashing towards the castle at an incredible speed that almost rivaled the heroes.
The two temp-heroes landed flat on their backs when the knight dropped them on the cold hard floor of what appeared to be a throne room. It was mainly black in color with some hints of red. Alya lifted herself up, and across from her, she saw five knights standing on either side of Dragon Guard, who stood protectively in front of Marc, sitting on a throne made of onyx and had velvet red cushions, and standing next to him were Rose and Juleka.
"So," he snarled. "You two still follow the command of that liar." When he sat back up, Nino swore he saw smoke seeping through the Akuma's clenched teeth. "You saw what she's capable of first-hand and still conspired to help her escape the punishment she deserves!"
"Dude- Dragon Guard," corrected Nino. "Yes, Lila is the absolute worst! We see that now! W-we should've listened to you and the art club. We're sorry, but cutting off Lila's head is going too far!"
A growl escapes from the back of Dragon Guard's throat as the blade of his sword combusts. "You are aware I could easily cleave you half, RIGHT?!" More smoke escapes from his mouth, making Alya and Nino hold onto each other for dear life. Before he can do anything to them, Marc grabs a hold of his hand behind him, helping Dragon Guard to calm down. "You should be so lucky my treasure is so forgiving." The two let out breaths of relief, believing they'll be spared, but that was until they saw the tip of the sword glow a bright blue. "But you're still going to be part of this court."
Alya and Nino's eyes shut tight as the blue beam hit them, transforming their clothes so Alya would look like a Medieval scribe, headdress and all, and turning Nino into a bard, complete with the lute. They stood and asked in unison, "How may we serve thee?"
To Alya, he said, "Head to your chambers and compile a list of the crimes Rossi has committed. Before her death, I want everyone in Paris the know all about the monster that has been living among them."
"I will see to it the list is miles long." Alya curtsied before walking off.
"And you." Nino straightened up. "Compose a song, one that's jeering towards Rossi before her execution."
"On it, sir," Nino bowed before heading in the opposite direction Alya went.
The Akuma helped Marc out of his throne and gave him a quick kiss before handing him over to Rose and Juleka. "Take him to his room." Giving twin nods, the two girls walked Marc out of the throne room. "The rest of you lot are to guard my treasure," Dragon Guard announced to the knights in the room. "When the rest of my knights and I return with the pariah, I better not see a scratch on him! Is that clear?"
They responded in unison, "Yes, sir!"
Dragon Guard points to one knight, "Except for you. I need you to find someone for me."
Ladybug winced every time the metal soles of her's and Chat Noir's boots made contact with the roofs, worried that one of the knights could hear them. How did Joan of Arc do this? They were able to make it to the castle without being caught, but there were quite a few close calls with knights that often sent them running away in the opposite direction of the castle, but they managed to evade them and get back on course.
"Okay, all of the entrances are blocked off," Ladybug remarked as she leered down from the roof of the castle at the knights guarding the entrances. It looked like there were more than thirty which made her wonder when Dragon Guard knighted more people. They were probably caught trying to help Lila without knowing of the horrible things she's done. "Looks like we'll have to go in through the window."
She hands Chat Noir the end of her yoyo and lowers him down to the closest window which he tried to open the window, but resorted to cutting out an opening with one of his claws and pushing it since it was an arched window, one that didn't open. Once he was in, Ladybug lowered herself down and made her way inside. They stood on top of a mezzanine that overlooked a long hallway with dark grey almost black walls, red carpeting, and a couple of doors.
The armor-clad heroes leaped down, praying no one heard their clanking armor, and went down the long hallway, unsure of where they were going, but they needed to find either Dragon Guard and deakumatize him, or Marc and get him out of here.
As they continue down the hall, they pick up the sound of a melodious tune coming from behind one of the doors. Curious, Chat Noir opened the door where the music was loudest and gaped at the sight. Sitting in what appeared to be a music room was. Nino. His best friend. One of the coolest guys he knows. And he is wearing tights... Oh yeah, and he's playing a lute, but Chat's more freaked out about the tights! "Nino?"
The creole boy paused his strumming and turned to the heroes. "Ladybug, Chat Noir, 'tis a pleasure." Chat cringed at how eloquent he sounded. "To what do I owe the visit?" He went back to playing the lute. "I figured you two would be off hunting Lila, as you are heroes."
While Chat Noir stood slack-jawed, Ladybug approached Nino. "Nino, what happened to you?" She just saw him about fifteen minutes ago, how did Nino get turned into a bard? Recalling what happened to the DuPont students, she asked, "Did Dragon Guard do this to you?"
"I am not quite sure what you mean," Nino shrugged. "Dragon Guard is a merciful person... Unless you harm the prince," he added after a short pause to write music notes on the sheet before him. "If so, then he shall either be lenient and make you serve his beloved, or have you suffer the same fate that awaits Miss Rossi. The damned pariah."
Feeling a chill run down her spine, Ladybug took a few steps back. "We... We're gonna help you all."
"No assistance needed," said Nino. "But I thank you."
Chat Noir grabbed Ladybug's hand and quickly pulled her out of the room before shutting the door and letting out a shudder of disturbance. "That thing. That thing in there?" He points to the door. "That is not Nino!"
Ladybug wordlessly nodded. It was chilling to hear how almost apathetic but also content Nino sounded, and not in his usual laid-back manner. The tone in his voice when he talked about Lila almost reminded her of a psycho, and she swore she heard the creepy violin music playing. But maybe that was just the lute music. Suddenly, a thought came to mind. If Dragon Guard got to Nino, then that means... "Alya," she whispered.
"Where do you think she is?" Chat wondered as he and Ladybug continued down the hallway.
"Well, Dragon Guard turned Nino into a bard since he's into music," Ladybug pointed out. "And since Alya wants to be a journalist... Maybe he turned her into a messenger. But, what room would she be- Whoa!" Just as she's about to round a corner, Chat Noir pulls her back. "Chat, what was-" He holds a finger to his lip and points around the corner. The heroine peered around and saw four knights guarding a large wooden door. "Thanks, kitty," she whispered, making the cat-themed hero smile. "Dragon Guard might be in there."
Chat's staff extended. "So we just gotta take out four knights and then a fire-breathing Akuma. Sounds easy."
At his tone, Ladybug rolled her eyes before whipping out her yoyo. "Let's go."
The superhero duo rounded the corner and charged towards the knights blocking the door, each taking on two. Chat Noir, thanks to his fencing classes was equally matched with the knights while Ladybug relied on her yoyo as a shield and her quick reflexes. The metal staff whacked one of the swords out of the knight's hand, giving Chat Noir a chance to attack by flipping them over his shoulder and onto the second knight. Quickly, Ladybug wrapped her yoyo around one knight's ankle and flung them into the second, knocking them both out. With all four knights down, Ladybug and Chat Noir high-fived.
"I believe that's a new record for us," Chat Noir smirked as he opened the door and stepped to the side. "Ladies first." Ladybug did a mock curtsey before walking through the doors, where she was met with a spiral stone staircase that went on for who knows how long?
The climb up the stairs was a little tiring due to the heavy armor Ladybug and Chat Noir weren't so used to wearing, making them miss their old suits, and they had some trouble navigating since the higher it climbed, the darker it became, and the only light source was Chat staff, which acted as a torch since the Akuma removed all technology in Paris, including the flashlight setting in the Miraculous. Finally, they made it to the top where they were met with a single wooden door.
"You really think he's in here?" Chat Noir asked.
"Who else would all of those knights be guarding?" Ladybug asked rhetorically. She slowly opened the door as quietly as she could, flinching every time it creaked, worried Dragon Guard might be on the other side and could hear everything. When it was open halfway, she and Chat Noir slipped inside, careful not to let their armor bump into the wooden door and stone frame, creating more noise.
What they found was unexpected. They had stepped into a lavish room fit for royalty that had a black and red color scheme with some hints of purple. A grand canopy bed covered with stuffed animals that resembled dragons, manticores, griffins, and teddy bears in wizard outfits sat in the corner, on the other side of the room was a comfortable-looking reading nook with a window that had a beautiful view of Paris and provided a ton of natural light. Next to the nook was a desk with a vase full of quills, stacks of papers, and a small container of ink sitting on it. Black chairs with velvet red cushions were by a fireplace with an obsidian mantle, and hanging above it was a portrait of Dragon Guard holding Marc in his arms bridal style.
"... I'm guessing Dragon Guard made this room for Marc," Chat deduced. "Not bad." He picks up a red stuffed manticore off the dresser and gives it a squeeze, making it emit a small roar. "Aw."
Ladybug had to give some props; Dragon Guard had filled it with what he knew Marc loved: Stuffed animals, books, writing materials. It was kind of endearing. "Well, where's Marc?" She wondered while walking around the room.
Then as if answering her question, "Is someone there?" A timid voice asked. The armored heroes turned to see who said that and saw Marc, still in the red dress with black lace, stepping into the room from a balcony they're just now noticing. "Ladybug? Chat Noir?"
"Marc, you're okay!" Ladybug exclaimed, relived her cousin was safe. Even though she knew Nathaniel would never hurt Marc in any way, she knew how unpredictable Akumas could get and would often lash out at the people they love, but it seemed like Dragon Guard was treating Marc as he saw him: A prince who deserved luxury and needed protecting.
Marc made his way over to the bed that was 85% stuffed animals and sat at the foot of it. "What are you doing here?" He asked in an almost ethereal voice. "Shouldn't you be stopping Lila?"
"No, Marc, we're here to deakumatize Nathaniel," Chat Noir explained as he calmly approached the boy. "Do you know where he is?"
Marc giggled as he hugged a purple dragon plushie. "Oh, he said he would be out hunting the pariah with his knights. He promised to let me out and watch her beheading when they find her." The heroes' eyes widened at the last sentence. So Dragon Knight was planning to execute Lila, and by guillotine.
"Be-beheading?" Chat Noir stammered, feeling sick to his stomach right now. He hated Lila, but not enough to want her dead. Maybe to scare her a little and make her regret the day her parents conceived her or told her first lie, but he'd never want her dead.
"Marc, we're getting you out of here," Ladybug said as she reached for Marc's hand, only for him to pull away, much to her confusion. "Are you okay?"
"I wouldn't do that," he warned.
"What do you mean?" Chat Noir rested his hand on the noirette's shoulder, only to recoil when the red gem in his crown started flashing white then back to red. "What the...? What is this?"
"I warned you," said Marc.
Ladybug and Chat Noir nearly jumped out of their armor when they heard the mighty roar of Dragon Guard from a distance.
"He doesn't like when people get too close to me," Marc sighed. "You can't blame him for being protective after what the pariah did." He brought his hand up to the bruise still on his cheek. "He'll be here any second, and if not him, then the knights tasked to guard me, so you need to leave unless you desire the same fate as Lila."
Speaking of Lila...
Here she was, hiding from the knights in a dingy alleyway that's infested with rats, wearing a hideous peasant outfit that looked more worn out than what the other women wore.
'I should be the one living in the castle!' The liar thought bitterly to herself as she shoved another rat away. 'Not that stupid girly-boy, what's-his-face!' "STUPID MARINETTE!" She screamed, not caring who heard her, she just needed to vent and blame everything on the person who started this mess.
'If that pigtailed brat had kept her mouth shut, I could've still been running that school!' She kicked over a barrel. 'But, no! She just had to be another one of those self-righteous floosies and accuse me of lying! I'm just bringing some light to those losers' dumb lives! It's not my fault they're all idiots! Then she has the nerve to bring those dykes, Annie, and whoever-the-hell-cares over to her side! I'm the one they should be fawning over! I'm supposed to be the winner! HOW DARE SHE?!' She picked up a rat and threw it hard against the brick wall, right before kicking it once it slid back to the ground, pretending it was Marinette's cheerful face that switched to Ladybug's fake smile.
'Doesn't that brat realize I'm doing her a huge favor?! She's seeing just how disloyal those dumbasses are!' The next kick caused the rat to bleed. 'All they want are favors and coattails to ride on! They want ME! Not HER! God, how dumb is she? She could've been ruling that pathetic school, but no, she has to stay meek and humble like the damned Mother Theresa she is! Little Miss Perfect twenty-four-fucking-seven! It's not my fault I seized an opportunity she wasn't taking! You'd have to be an idiot not to take advantage of those brain-dead losers and their pansy teacher!' Now she was just kicking a furry bag of organs. 'When that pest and stray finally fix this, I'm making sure to put them all back in their place! That school is MINE! I DESERVE FAME, POPULARITY, POWER, ADRIEN! IT'S ALL MINE!'
"WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU HAWKMOTH?!" She screeched, becoming angrier when she received no response in the form of an Akuma to grant her powers so she could kill that stupid dragon boy. She stomped on the ground. "ANSWER ME!"
"Well, Rossi. It would seem that your big mouth is your downfall once again."
Lila paled and slowly turned her head around where she saw about a dozen knights blocking her only escape. And standing dead center was Dragon Guard with a malicious smirk that rivaled Lila's own whenever she ruined the life of someone who saw through her lies. While hers' were always gloating and shameless, the Akuma's smirk was just malicious yet gleeful. He enjoyed inflicting pain on those who crossed him first-hand while Lila manipulated others to do her dirty work.
Stalking towards Lila, Dragon Guard sneered, "So, you escaped your punishment and crawled into the alleys like the vermin you are. Typical."
Lila backed herself into a corner. She would find a way out of this; she's Lila fucking Rossi, the master manipulator. She can make this guy love her and hate that dumb pansy. She subtly pinched her wrists as tight as she could, forcing out tears. "I-I swear, I didn't do anything! I was framed by him! Please! You need to believe me! Your boyfriend hates me, and is always trying to hurt me! Just last week, he- AH!" Dragon Guard's sword embedded itself in the brick wall, inches away from her face and cutting off one of her sausage-like ponytails.
"I've always hated those," the Akuma muttered while looking down at the severed ponytail with distaste. "Now you listen here, Rossi. My Treasure, my Prince, my Rainbow, he is perfection personified. He is the purest thing in this world, and wouldn't be caught dead acting so cruel to someone, even if they do deserve it." Lila looked offended and was about to say something, but he cut her off. "Me, however? I will take immense satisfaction in watching those who have harmed my love perish." He pulls his sword out from the wall and holds the tip to Lila's neck. "I could easily kill you right here, right now. But..." He trails off, a lovesick look on his face. "I just had to promise my treasure he'd get a show."
Lila trembled in place. There was really no getting out of those. Dragon Guard saw through her lies and had knights backing him up. And if she said anything against Marc, instant death. All she could do was hope that Ladybug and Chat Noir would get her out of this, then she can go back to hating them and winning all of the idiots at school back over.
Suddenly, the gems on Dragon Guard's sword handle started flashing, and he had a look of dread came over his face. His left eye started twitching, and the grip on his sword was so tight, that it might break and release the Akuma. A growl escaped from the back of his throat but then became louder until he was roaring so loud that Lila and his knights had to cover their ears,(Or hold their hands over where ears were)
Lila yelped as Dragon Guard pushed her towards the knights. "TAKE HER BACK TO THE CASTLE!" He commanded. "Have the ladies in waiting prep her for execution." His crimson red wings spread out, and he took off in a flash, jetting towards the castle and turning innocent civilians into his knights along the way until he had about twenty more knights.
"MARC!" Dragon Guard frantically cried as he landed on the balcony, so frantic, that he actually called Marc by his name and not 'Treasure'. He rushed towards the green-eyed boy who was sitting on his bed and pulled him into his strong arms. "Are you alright? What happened?"
"Love, it's fine," Marc reassured, but it wasn't easing his akumatized boyfriend's nerves. "I'm okay."
Dragon Guard looked Marc over for any more cuts or bruises like the ones Lila left earlier. "Who was in here?" He demanded. "What did they do to you?" To calm him down, Marc tenderly stroked one of Dragon Guard's horns. In response, he breathed out a small puff of smoke as he leaned into Marc's touch.
"Ladybug and Chat Noir left before you arrived," Marc answered. "They didn't do anything to me, but they are trying to keep you from punishing Lila."
He scowled. "Of course they are. Well, they're not going to stop me, not when I've finally found her." He takes Marc's gloved free hand gently into both of his and kisses it. "I have more knights who will stand guard at the execution. You'll never have to worry about her again, my treasure." Dragon Guard gathered Marc into his arms and held him bridal style as he made his way out of the room.
"So, what do we do?" Chat Noir wondered. "The knights have obviously got the upper hand, and if we go after Dragon Guard, he'll just burn our faces off before we can even get close enough to him."
Ladybug and Chat Noir barely managed to escape the knights who were guarding the castle, and the four they took down earlier were not holding back this time on their attacks. Just as they thought they were in the clear when they made it outside, they were greeted by way more knights than they remembered, and two were holding Lila hostage. They fought hard, but the knights were just too strong for them. So they were forced to retreat and come up with a new plan. And fast.
From the rooftops, the heroes watched as the blacksmith wheeled in an expertly made guillotine up a small ramp onto a large, wooden platform built in front of the castle. Standing on it was Nino, strumming away on his lute, and Alya, who seemed to be going over a very long list. A large crowd of Parisians stood around and could only watch, knowing they were defenseless against the knights.
"How about this? Before Lila's beheading, you Cataclysm the guillotine. The knights probably won't be on guard because if I'm guessing right, Alya's going to read a list of Lila's crimes." She remembered one time in history class, Mme. Bustier explained that before getting beheaded, the victims would have their crimes read in front of an audience so no one would sympathize with them and encourage their demise. But she doubted anyone in the crowd would cheer for Lila's death. Maybe a hardcore Ladybug and Chat Noir fan, but no one would just outright express their joy for the death of someone. "So we'll jump in after she reads everything."
Chat Noir nodded, understanding the plan. "Yeah, and dragon boy will probably have most of the knights protecting Marc, and chasing after Lila if she manages to escape after I destroy the guillotine, so that makes things slightly easier for us." In response, Ladybug scratches him behind the fake ears, making him purr.
"That's my smart kitty," she smiled. "Till then, we wait."
Lila scowled the whole time as Juleka and Rose prepped her for whatever the hell that redhead freak was planning to do to her, roughly, she might add. They kept yanking on her hair as they cut it until it was an unflattering bob, giving the Italian a slight headache, they then rubbed off all of her makeup with such vigor that they left whelps. And finally, was forced to wear a plain white dress that reached to her feet and was given no shoes.
After she was finished getting dressed, they dragged her out of possibly the drabbest room in the castle, making sure to squeeze her arms tighter than the ropes tied around her wrists and lead her outside where she was met with a massive crowd. Among them were the knights, the students and teachers who weren't transformed into knights, and some extras she doesn't care to learn the names of unless they can get her free stuff.
Once up on the wooden platform, the two ladies in waiting pushed her to the floor, and Lila was so sure that some splinters impaled her skin. So busy stewing in her anger, Lila almost didn't notice the massive guillotine. But when she did, "FUCK THIS!" She screamed and was about to run off again, but collided with the cold, hard metal of Dragon Guard's breastplate, earning her searing pain in her forehead now that her bangs were cut. She caught something out of the corner of her eye and saw Marc standing right next to him. She wanted so bad to strangle that boy, him and Marinette. In her own deluded world, she saw them as the cause of everything that's gone wrong and that they deserve to die, not her.
Tied up or not, Lila was going to throttle him. She tried to lunge at Marc, but Dragon Guard's snarl had her backing away from the boy. To keep her from trying anything else, two knights restrained her at the snap of Dragon Guard's fingers and held her for the audience to see.
"I should say," Nino sang as he strummed at his lute. "That you're lying to yourself in a way." Lila scoffed. "You're to blame. You're delusional, fantasies fill your brain. 'Tis a shame, that you're out of touch, it's sad you won't change. Out of frame. Now get ready for your desired fame. 'Cause in your lies, you're drowning." The song picked up a bit as Nino played a livelier tune. "Yes, finally we woke up. There's no one left under your thumb. Yes, finally we woke up, let's get this over with, and bring peace to the kingdom. Go on, execute her, get her out of this kingdom. She thought she was clever, her lies fell, she looks so dumb. Let's get this over with, and bring peace to the kingdom."
When the song came to an end, there were some scattered claps. The melody sounded great and was well-written, but the meaning behind the lyrics alarmed the crowd. Just what had this girl done to deserve a fate like this? "Today, good people of Paris," Alya announced as she turned towards the crowd. "You will witness the fall of an enemy to the Kingdom." She ignored the cries of her family and continued, "Lila Rossi, the so-called 'best friend of Ladybug' is nothing more than a liar, con-artist, traitor, and murderer." At that last accusation, gasps sounded out through the crowd.
"THEY'RE ALL LYING!" Lila screeched, making a few people cover their ears at how loud she was. "Please! You all need to believe me!"
"SILENCE!" Dragon Guard roared. Once the Italian was scared into silence, he motioned for Alya to keep going. "Continue, Alya."
With a nod, Alya held up the scroll she had in her hands for everyone to see. "Lila Rossi has lied about the following written on this list. To confirm that these are nothing more than the ramblings of a delusional, vain, power-hungry girl who ruins the lives of others, is her mother. Signora Gretta Rossi."
Lila's eyes bulged out of her sockets when she heard her mother's name. The crowd parted for the two knights who pulled Gretta Rossi, dressed in a white peasant blouse with a black leather corset over a navy blue ankle-length skirt, towards the platform. The poor woman cried, "Why are you doing this?! Lila, what is going on?!" Lila scowled. If her mom confirms that everything she said is a lie, then everything she worked hard for will be ruined! She better keep her mouth shut if she doesn't wanna see her only child die.
"You, signora," said Dragon Guard as he approached the cowering woman. "Will be confirming a few things for us. You see, your daughter is not the innocent child she had you believing she is. She's manipulated and tried to ruin the reputations of people at Francoise Dupont, even going so far as to get violent with one of them." He steps to the side so the Italian can see Marc, bruises still prominent on his face.
"W-what?" Gretta gasped. She turned to Lila for an answer, but she just frantically shook her head. "N-no, she wouldn't-"
"Alya!" The Akuma interrupted. "Read off every lie the pariah has told."
Alya unfurled the long scroll and read, "First: Being best friends with Paris' heroine, Ladybug. True or false, signora?"
Gretta furrowed her brow. Her daughter said that the heroes were incompetent and terrible at their jobs. There's no way she'd be friends with them, especially with how busy they are trying to capture and stop akumas like the one right now. "N-not that I'm aware of, but-"
"She is friends with Prince Ali," Alya read. "She claims to have met him while on one of your diplomatic missions to the kingdom of Achu since you're such an important ambassador, and she has helped with his environmental campaigns. Answer."
Just what has Lila been telling her classmates? She's not even an ambassador, she's a secretary. And she's never heard of diplomats taking their children on missions. And everyone knows that Prince Ali dedicates his time to helping children!
This went on for ten more minutes. Gretta Rossi was forced to listen to the many falsehoods Lila has told, confirm that none of them were true, and she couldn't help but cry, wondering what lead her daughter to tell so many lies. Does she not even realize the trouble she could get into by telling people these things? Claiming you're friends with a superhero can make you a target for villains, going around saying that you have close relations with royalty could be a possible threat to security, saying that a thirty-year-old musician wrote a song about you, a teenager, is bound to raise some eyebrows, and telling others you can help them accomplish their goals through fake connections will get them nowhere in life so they'll end up jobless. The worst ones had about her 'Trip to Achu with her Ambassador mother', when really, Lila was at home because Gretta was lead to believe that Akumas were running amok at the school, and it wasn't safe. She allowed her daughter to be truant for months. And the other lies her daughter told were to get an innocent girl expelled from school by framing her for crimes she didn't commit! She felt like a horrible mother- No! The worst mother.
Finally, the list of lies stopped... Then came the list of crimes she has committed. Truancy was one, Lila had threatened that innocent girl in the bathroom just because she knew about her lies, she stole a young boy's artwork and claimed it as her own, pushed two girls in the pink and purple dresses down in the hallway every chance she got, tampered with another girl's rollerskates so she would get into accidents, and she beat up the poor boy in the red dress for no reason at all, harassed Adrien, the boy she claimed to be dating. And what made Gretta believe that she was an abomination to mothers everywhere was hearing how Lila tried to get Ladybug killed during one Akuma attack, grab at the Akuma that started this mess. Her own daughter is aiding a villain who's basically a terrorist!
Everyone came up with their own theories and opinions after hearing that one. Is Lila working for Hawkmoth? Is she Mayura? That girl is aiding a terrorist! She deserves to fry! She needs to be punished! The knights' muscles seemed less tense as the crowd got into an angry frenzy. They no longer had to worry about them trying to help the liar now that everyone knows she tried to get their beloved hero killed and is aiding a terrorist.
"It's time Lila," Dragon Guard said grimly before ordering the knights holding her to take Lila to the guillotine and place her head in the hole right below the massive blade ready to decapitate her.
"Wait! Stop!" Gretta pleaded as she tried to pull herself away from the knights, eyes brimming with tears. "Please, don't kill her!"
"Oh, now you care about me?!" Lila sneered. "You could've gone along with everything, said I was telling the truth like a good mother! But, no! You're just like those self-righteous assholes!" Dragon Guard found himself feeling sympathetic for the mother of this wretched girl. She didn't deserve this. "Always needing to tell the truth like you're some goddamn saint or something! Peosa madre!"
Those last two words had Gretta go limp in the knights' arms, and she fell to her knees, mouth agape and tears streaming down her cheeks. She took quick, shuddered breaths as she hugged herself.
'Peosa madre!'
'Peosa madre!'
'Peosa madre!'
Those words played over and over in her head. They were the last two words Gretta said to her own mother before she passed away when she was twelve. They had gotten into a horrible fight, and didn't speak to each other for days... Then one day at school, she got called into the office and learned there had been a shooting at her mother's office. She felt so cold right now, and could hardly even register what was happening. Everything around her was just white noise, and blurry through her tears.
"Tch," Dragon Guard scoffed as he went to help up the poor woman. "Damn, Lila. I knew you were cold-hearted, but that? That was just cruel." He nodded to one of the knights near the guillotine before handing Gretta over to one of the sympathetic crowd members, then making his way towards Marc, smiling at how excited he looked. "On my count. Cut the rope at three."
Lila knew there was no point anymore. For once in her life, she had no one to back her up. Ladybug and Chat Noir weren't gonna show up. Some heroes they were.
"One..."
Gretta just felt numb. She wasn't sure how to feel anymore. Her daughter, her own flesh and blood has been aiding a terrorist for who-knows-how-long? And she's been lying to her since they moved to France, maybe even before that. She couldn't move or hear.
"Two..."
'Wake up! Do something! Yes, she hurt you, Nath, Mari, and so many more people, but that is no excuse to behead her!' Marc ignored the nagging voice in his head and just leaned into his devoted guard's embrace.
"Three!"
The knight used their sword to slash the rope keeping the blade from slicing Lila's head off, and down it went. Crowd members shielded their faces, worried some blood might get on them, and some even covered their ears, expecting to hear cries of anguish before Lila was truly dead since they heard decapitation victims still had ten seconds of consciousness. There was nothing. No slashing sounds or screams, but instead a 'CLANK!'
"NO!" Dragon Guard growled.
Everyone looked and saw Chat Noir's staff wedged right between the top part of the lunette and the blade. Truth be told, they were actually pretty relieved. Second thoughts started developing when the Akuma started the countdown. They were rooting for a teenager's death, but they felt so conflicted since she was working for a terrorist who forced people- mainly children- to turn into monsters and do his bidding for some jewelry. Later today, they'll take a long look at themselves in the mirror.
"Everyone, get out of here!" Ladybug commanded as she and Chat Noir dropped in, and the civilians wasted no time running away from the fight that was about to take place.
"CATACLYSM!"
The guillotine disintegrated at his touch, freeing a very pissed off Lila. "WHERE WERE YOU IDIOTS?!"
"We were held up by some knights who were staking out the venue," Ladybug spat before leaning in and whispering into the Italian's ear. "Now be grateful we saved your sorry ass before I have Chat Noir recharge and Cataclysm you off the face of the earth. And I won't be using my Cure to bring you back. Frankly, I quite enjoy wearing this armor. Makes my punches more powerful."
Chat Noir slammed a hand on Lila's shoulder. Lila looked up and saw his unnervingly wide grin. "Now be a good little civilian and go hide before Dragon Guard roasts you like a marshmallow. Okay?"
Before she could reply, Ladybug hoisted her up and tossed her off the platform with a "Whoops." Lila managed to get back up and fled the scene, evading the knights as she did.
"YOU HEARD EVERYTHING AND STILL WANT TO SAVE HER?!"
Ladybug shielded herself and Chat Noir from Dragon Guard's fire breath while the black-armor-clad hero whacked knights away with his staff. "Yes! Because it's our job as heroes! Frankly, I'd like to see her fry!" She threw her YoYo at the Akuma a few times, trying to grab the sword, but Dragon Guard smacked the YoYo away each time. One shot came close to hitting Marc, forcing Dragon Guard to shield him but also got one of his wrists restrained.
"Let's go for a ride," he smirked as his wings spread out. Ladybug paled, and before she knew it, she was high up in the air and being dragged through the skies by Dragon Guard. He tried to shake her off, but Ladybug was holding on tight to the other end of her yoyo. This went on a few a few minutes until Ladybug got an idea when the Akuma flew over Pont des Arts. She yanked on her YoYo as hard as she could, pulling Dragon Guard towards her.
"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! GET OFF OF ME!"
Ladybug climbed onto his back and held onto his wings, causing Dragon Guard to go off course and barrel straight down towards the Seine. Ladybug threw her YoYo which wrapped around the railing of the love-lock bridge, and zipped away the second before Dragon Guard hit the water and was submerged.
Ladybug scoped out the water for any signs of the red haired-Akuma, but couldn't find him. Worry took over, and she was about to dive in to pull him out, only to halt when Dragon Guard burst through the water, his hair wet and covering his face.
"YOU PEST!" He took a deep breath, getting ready to blow fire in Ladybug's direction, but all the came out was steam. He tried again, but it was just the same result. "DAMNIT!" He couldn't breathe fire anymore, giving Ladybug a better chance at winning. He flew out of the water and lands in front of Ladybug with a snarl. "Let's get this over with. You're keeping me away from my Treasure and it's PISSING ME OFF!" He thrusted his sword, only for Ladybug to block each attack with her YoYo.
Since his wet hair was sticking to his face and covering his eyes, Dragon Guard was slightly uncoordinated and had a few close calls, but it wasn't just that. The water was freezing-cold and it felt like he was going to pass out the second his body hit the water.
As they fought, Chat Noir vaulted towards them and landed right next to Ladybug. "Sorry I'm late, m'lady. The knights were not playing nice."
"Don't worry," she reassured. "Because we're about to end this."
"LUCKY CHARM!"
What landed in Ladybug's hand was a heavy blanket. She looked it over and saw a dial on one corner with hot and cold settings. "A temperature blanket?"
"Are you gonna put him down for a cat nap?" Chat Noir joked, only to get a roll of the eyes from Ladybug in response.
The only two things illuminated by her Lucky Vision were Dragon Guard and the blanket.
Dragons are just giant reptiles.
Wrap the blanket around Dragon Guard and turn it to cold while his hair is still covering his eyes.
Wrap Chat Noir's belt around him so he can't get the blanket off
Ladybug hesitated a bit, knowing the consequences of exposing reptiles to cold weather, but if it would get Nathaniel back...
"Get your belt ready, Chat." He complied, a little confused, then they darted toward Dragon Guard, dodging each of his attacks. Ladybug tosses her partner one end of the blanket, and understanding the plan, helped her wrap the blanket around Dragon Guard. As he struggled to get it off, Chat Noir wrapped his belt around him tight, preventing him from getting the blanket off. Ladybug turned the dial on the blanket to cold, and the effects were already kicking in.
Dragon Guard's thrashing slowed down until he was left staggering in place. He struggled to keep his eyes open and had to lean on the bridge's railing to keep him up until he just fell to the ground, hardly even moving. Quickly, Ladybug unwrapped him, easily pried the sword out of his hand and snapped it in half, releasing the Akuma
"No more evil-doing for you, little Akuma. Time to de-evilize!" She caught the black butterfly in her YoYo before it could flutter off. "Gotcha!" She opened her YoYo back up, and out came fluttering a purified butterfly. "Bye-bye, little butterfly." She took the blanket, and balled it up before tossing it into the air. "MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!"
The thousands of Ladybugs that were once the blanket spread around Paris, bringing all modern appliances back, putting everyone back into their clothes, restoring the buildings, and reverting those blasted by Dragon Guard. Finally, the dark magic of the Butterfly miraculous washed over Dragon Guard before lifting up to reveal Nathaniel.
He coughed. "Shit."
"Pound it," Ladybug and Chat Noir fist-bumped.
Chat Noir looked down and saw that he was back in the leather cat suit. "Aw, man. I was really getting used to the armor. Made me look cool.
Ladybug chuckled before going to check on Nathaniel. "Are you okay, Nathaniel?" Asked Ladybug as she helped the de-akumatized boy up, providing him some support since he seemed to have some trouble standing.
"My throat hurts," he answered hoarsely, hardly audible. Ladybug winced. Sometimes Akumatizations had some minor temporary effects on people. Nino, post Bubbler, could touch bubbles without them popping, Myléne hissed a couple of times when people startled her, and Marc, for a short time would say the opposite of what he meant. All of that fire Nathaniel had been breathing must've damaged his throat a bit. "I-is Marc okay? I didn't hurt him, did I?"
Ladybug smiled. "No. You were actually very protective of him." Hearing that put a smile on the redhead's face. "Chat, I can take care of this. You're about to turn back."
Chat Noir looked down at his ring and saw he had only two minutes left. "Till then, m'lady. Stay safe, red." And he vaulted away."
The second Ladybug set Nathaniel back down on the sweet, safe ground after she swung through the air at a terrifying height- which he never wants to do again- he was tackled into a hug by Marc.
"NATH!" He cried. "Are you okay?"
Nathaniel wrapped his arms tight around his boyfriend. "I'm fine, Rainbow. I'm okay." When he and Marc pulled away from their loving embrace, Nathaniel ran his thumb over the bruise still under Marc's eye and held his injured hand. "Rainbow, I'm so sorry."
Seeing tears stream down his face, Marc brushed Nathaniel's bangs to the side. "Love, what for? I'm okay, so is everyone else, and you exposed Lila to all of Paris."
"I what?"
"Nath, you were so fucking badass!" Alix interrupted as she ran towards the couple, Juleka and Rose following close behind. "You had Alya expose Lila in front of everyone, including her mom!" She frowned a bit, remembering the exact words Lila said to Gretta. "I mean, Lila was a total bitch to her mom, and she ran away, but it was still awesome!"
"I can't believe Lila would say something like that to her own mother!" Rose screamed, fists clenched.
"I can," Juleka shrugged. "She's cold, apathetic, and heartless."
"Yeah, we can discuss how horrible Lila is later," Alix dismissed before smirking in a way that made Nathaniel nervous. "But right now, let's acknowledge the fact that our dear bisexual disaster, Nathaniel, had Marc wear a dress." Hearing that, Rose squealed while Juleka just arched an eyebrow.
"Or not?" Nathaniel suggested, voice still a little hoarse, but it was too late. The three girls were sending him smug looks.
Off her earrings third beep, Ladybug whipped out her YoYo. "I better get going. Bug out!" And she zipped away. Seconds later, Marinette rushed towards her friends.
"And just where were you?" Alix asked in a playfully accusing tone.
Marinette blushed. "I hid in a storage closet when I saw the Akuma. Then I walked out, saw what I was wearing," she shot Nathaniel a look. "And ran back in." 'I am getting better with these excuses.'
Alix chuckled as she slung an arm around the Eurasian girl. "Of course you did, Mari... Also, Nath put Marc in a dress."
"Ooh! Tell me about that!"
Lila ignored the appalled looks on the students' and teachers' faces and held her head up high acting as if she were the Queen of England. Then she had the gall to whip her hair in Aurore's face, making the blonde call her some unsavory words, but she pretended not to hear. Once she was back in class, she would get every single one of those idiots begging on their knees for forgiveness. Then, just for fun, she'll push Nathaniel down the stairs, claim he's suicidal, and he'll be forced into a mental home, leaving his loser boyfriend all alone. Maybe he'll cry so much that he'll die from dehydration. The thought made her smirk.
Those two deserve it after what they did to her! Forcing her to hide out in a dingy alley wearing those peasant clothes, then her long hair was cut off, but then grew back no thanks to Ladybug, and she was almost beheaded for no good reason! And worst of all, they forced Alya to tell lies about her in front of all of Paris and her stupid mother! HOW DARE THEY?! And after being saved by the two worst heroes ever, she was forced to hide for hours because the police were less to believe that she was a danger to the country, which was not true! Hawkmoth is the one manipulating innocent people like her! She deserves to be coddled and treated like a fucking Princess! HOW DARE THEY?!
Lila wiped the ugly frown off of her (Even uglier) face and walked into class with a pleasant-looking smile. "Hi, friends! Sorry I'm late!"
The students and teacher faced the Italian with different expressions: Disgust, anger, confusion, and more disgust. Max slowly pulled out his phone and quietly dialed the number for a mental home, worried things might get ugly.
Lila skipped over to her seat, only to pause when she saw Alix and Marinette sitting where she and Adrien once sat. Her left eye twitched. "... Guys. Why are you sitting in MY desk?"
Marinette cringed at the overly excessive saccharine voice Lila was speaking in and said calmly, "We all decided to switch our desk around. It was a mutual agreement until we could work things out and get our relationships back in order after... Well, you."
Lila whined so loud that Ivan started hitting his head against his and Myléne's desk, begging for it to stop. "Marinette! Why would you say that?! I didn't do anything! You're just trying to keep my away from Adrien, you obsessive bitch!"
"Did I ever injure Adrien because I clung to his arm since I didn't understand the word, 'no'?" Marinette snarked.
"He said he didn't mind!" Lila screamed. "He said he loves me and hates you! ALL OF YOU!"
Before Adrien could responde, he was cut off. "Dude!" Nino yelled from his and Alya's desk in the back. "Shut the fuck up! No one believes you! No one will listen to you, because right now? You sound like a fucking psychopath! Wh-why are you even here, Rossi?"
"Yeah," Kim nodded. "I thought the police cuffed you."
"They let me go!" Lila lied, eyes brimming with crocodile tears. "They said that I was innocent, and are actually coming after him!" She pointed to Nathaniel, who was sitting behind Marinette and Alix with Adrien. "He tried to murder me, which is a crime!"
"I basically murdered people while Akumatized," Alix piped up. "Do you see me in cuffs? No."
Rose raised her hand. "I kidnapped royalty, which could be considered a federal offense of some sort."
"WELL THAT'S DIFFERENT!" Lila screeched, and Mme. Bustier slowly approaches her from behind, ready to subdue this psychopath. "He tried to murder ME! WHEN I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG! I'M INNOCENT, AND NOBODY SEEMS TO THINK SO!"
"You beat up my boyfriend for no damn reason!" Nathaniel yelled, his voice now clear again. "We all found out that you tried to get Ladybug killed, proving you work for Hawkmoth, a fucking terrorist, by the way! You are anything but innocent! Not to mention all of the fan-fucking-tastic stories your poor mother confirmed to be nothing but inane shit coming out of your big mouth!" Everyone stared wide-eyed at the redhead who was glaring at Lila with some much malice in his visible eye.
All was quiet until Lila screamed like a banshee. "I'll FUCKING MURDER YOU!" Seeing Bustier come up from behind, she punched the teacher in the face which sent her down to the floor, grabbed the pair of scissors off the desk and charged towards Nathaniel. She scratched Marinette's face, punched Alix, and leaped on top of their desk before leaning over to grab the collar of Nathaniel's shirt. "YOU DESERVE THIS!" Before she could injure the boy, a black combat boot was thrown at the side of her head. Hard. Lila fell off the desk, onto the floor, and laid there unconscious.
Nathaniel let out a shuddered breath, horrified at what just happened. He looked down at Lila's limp form and saw the familiar boot next to her before looking towards the doorway where he saw Marc with only one of his boots on.
"Oh, thank God!" Adrien sighed out of relief. "I thought someone was actually gonna die."
Sabrina inspected Lila's body, lifting up one of her arms and watching as it fell back to the floor. "You knocked her out cold!"
After Nathaniel made sure his two friends were okay, he walked over to Marc and asked, "Rainbow, how did you-?"
"Mme. Mendelive heard screaming and asked me to tell you guys to keep it down," he explained. "Then I saw Lila and knew what was happening."
Nathaniel smiled, "Thanks, Rainbow." He pulled the boy in for a kiss, which he fell into.
"Hey! Hit her again!" Myléne yelled, shocking the students. "She's still breathing!" She got out of her desk and grabbed the boot to hit Lila with again, only to be restrained by her boyfriend. "Let me have this!"
"LILA! ANABELLA! ROSSI!" And almost murderous voice belted through the school, shaking every student to their cores. They knew that voice. It was the voice of a very angry mother.
Gretta Rossi stormed into the class, flanked by police and some men in scrubs. One of them even held a straightjacket. "WHERE IS SHE?!" Everyone pointed to the unconscious girl on the floor. Gretta's anger turned into confusion. "What happened to her?"
Marc shyly raised his hand. "I threw my boot at her."
The burly creole man holding the straightjacket chuckled. "Hey, at least we don't need the tranquilizers."
Mme. Bustier, who was being helped up by Nino and Alya asked, "What are you talking about?"
"A young man by the name of Max Kanté dialed us," the blonde man in scrubs answered, making everyone give the genius boy impressed looks as he beamed proudly. "We heard the entire conversation, and it's clear that this girl is unfit to live in society. Till we can get things settled in court, this young lady will be spending her time in a nice, white, padded room. Get the jacket on her, David."
"With pleasure." He made his way over to the unconscious girl and the second the restrictive jacket was around her, she woke up screaming like a maniac.
"I'LL RUIN EVERY SINGLE ON OF YOU! YOU'LL ALL REGRET THIS!"
The blonde man rushed over to the thrashing girl with a syringe, which he stuck in her neck.
"STOP IT! I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! I'm innocent! I'm... He..."
"Night-night, crazy girl," Chloé taunted as Lila fell into a comatose state. "Get her far away from this school, Paris, hell, even Europe."
"With pleasure, Miss Bourgeois," David smiled as he slung Lila over his shoulder and made his way out of the classroom, but not before saying to Gretta, "Apologies, signora."
"It's alright," Gretta sighed. Once the first responders were out of the room, she turned to the class. "Well... I feel as though I owe you all apologies. Six of you, most of all." She looked to the art club students. "If I had know, I-
"Hey, don't sweat it," Alix reassured. "It's all fine, now."
"Yeah," Juleka nods. "It's not your fault, so... Don't worry about it."
Marinette smiled. "I'm sure you would've done something if you knew."
"I would have." She sighed, "Well, I best be off. I'll probably have to follow them down to whatever facility they're keeping Lila in until a trial. Again, I apologize." And she left.
A few weeks have passed since Lila was thrown in the looney-bin. A judge ruled that the wretched girl was in-fact unstable to live in society and she sentenced Lila to be confined in a mental institution until the age of eighteen. Then, she would be transferred to a maximum security prison in Italy since it was far too dangerous for her to continue to live in Paris where Hawkmoth could enhance her rage and insanity. The crazy girl got her fame, but it how she wanted it. She's now one of the textbook examples for 'Psychopath'.
Things in the Akuma Class slowly got better. Alya and Marinette were able to reconcile and were now best friends again. To remove any traces of Lila, Alya created a new blog that was much better than the LadyBlog called 'Bug and Cat Chat'. Best of all, it was sponsored by the heroes!
Adrien admitted that he knew Lila was a liar, and as expected, lost his friends' trust for a while, but he was able to make up for it at Kim and Nino's request that he take Marinette out on a date at a fancy restaurant where he will treat her like the Princess she is after leaving her to fend against Lila for the longest time. Adrien agreed without even thinking, and Marinette slapped her childhood friends for a total of two hours as they laughed. The class eventually did forgive him, realizing that being forced to model with Lila was punishment enough.
Nathaniel's latest Akumatization inspired another comic book for the couple, and fangirls would not stop screaming after they read it.
