Extended Summary:

Copious amounts of blood seeped through Maryse's old friend's stomach, the light in her eyes slowly dying, but somehow she still managed to stand, cradling a soft looking thing swaddled in pink blankets.

"Adara Rose Bellefleur. T-that's her name." Madeleine Bellefleur choked out, handing the baby into Maryse's shocked arms.

"She's the daughter of an angel. Take good care of her, Maryse. Tell her her parents love her." Madeleine said, collapsing backwards, her life finally leaving her.

One Cold Night-

It was a cold, rainy night, the sound of thunder and droplets of frosty rain hitting the ground booming in Maryse's ears as lightning flashed in front of her eyes. She grabbed a seraph blade on her way, pulling her night dress closer due to the chill.

She frowned in confusion, as someone had entered the Institute's boundaries, but didn't have demon blood. The alarms rang silently, indicating just that.

Her two year old son, Alec and her newborn daughter, Isabelle were sure to have woken up due to the noise, as confused and sleepy shadowhunters trickled out, wondering about the noise. She promised to herself to check on them afterwards.

She stalked toward the mighty doors, throwing it open with a seraph blade in hand as she gasped.

A woman with angular cheekbones, sharp features, holding a little pink blanket, bleeding out profusely on the front steps of her home.

"Madeleine!" Maryse yelled as she rushed forward to aid her friend. She stopped Maryse with a firm hand to the shoulder, looking at her with utter seriousness and sincerity.

"A-Adara Rose Bellefleur. T-that's her name." She choked out, handing the soft looking thing swaddled in blankets to Maryse's arms.

"She's the daughter of an Angel. Take care of her, Maryse. Tell her parents that we love her and that- I-I'll always love her and be-be proud." Madeleine said, gripping Maryse's arms tightly, slowly slipping toward the floor, before completely collapsing backward, the fight leaving her. A leatherbound book slipped out of her hands, falling to the rain-soaked ground with a dull thud.

"MADELEINE!"

Maryse looked at her old friend sorrowfully, before gazing upon the girl in her arms.

Adara had chubby and soft porcelain cheeks, a light brown chestnut hair, and the most breathtaking of her features was her eyes.

They were filled with tears, as if she knew that her mother was no more. The light of the moon reflected in her infant eyes, so innocent of the world, a shade of beautiful rose gold.

Adara was an adorable child, who would get into all sorts of mischief and trouble. It wasn't uncommon to find Maryse's children and her covered in flour, eggs and other miscellaneous items, pouting at the floor. Though it would always get on the Institute's nerves, they would only shake their heads exasperatedly, sigh and then chuckle.

On another matter, Adara was raised by everyone in the Institute. Her official guardians were the Lightwoods, but when they were away or busy, she was everyone's daughter, sibling, or friend, quickly winning hearts.

When they were of age, she took to a blade the way a baby would take to a bottle, her grace and speed unmatched. She worked hard, day and night to become the best of the best, now along with Jace at her side.

Her and Isabelle, or Izzy, as she liked to be called, became inseparable friends, as the only girls in the group, decided to become parabatais. Jace and Alec became parabatais as well, and together they became the most successful team of shadowhunters of their generation, Adara and Jace becoming the best of the best shadowhunters. The downworld leaders of New York trusted Adara, which was highlighted to the Clave after a high-tension mission was handled by her. They decided to appoint her as a medium between shadowhunters and Downworlders, an advocate of sorts. She studied in Idris for over two years, before coming back home to a warm welcome. From then on, she would travel the world to settle disputes, and was actually very well respected by the Clave.

Though very smart and perceptive, Adara missed the affection Jace and Alec held for her, oblivious to their love for her that extended beyond platonic measures.

One fateful day, they find Clarissa Fray, a girl who didn't know she was a shadowhunter, their lives are going to change forever, but for the better or for the worse?
