It was Saturday and the crystal gems, Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst and Steven, plus their honorary human member Connie where in the barn (Which was currently inhabited by two gems known as Lapis and Peridot.) because of a reason they still didn't know.
"Why did you call us here, exactly?" Asked pearl curious why the little green gem known as peridot had called all of them to the barn.
"Well, is very simple, I Peridot, have made a revolutionary discovery." Said a very happy and enthusiastic Peridot.
"Really…and what it is, another giant robot…please tell me is a giant robot." Said an enthusiastic steven.
"Oh, please not again." Said not very enthusiastic Pearl, still remembering the last giant robot competition between her and Peridot.
"No, its something much more interesting." Said the little green gem with a proud smile.
"Really? What it is?" Asked Pearl curious about what the little green gem had discovered.
"Well, as you all know, creating a gem requires lots of resources, to the point that it causes irreversible damage to the ecosystem of the planets chosen to have gem kindergartens." Said Peridot.
"Yes, we know that, why are you bringing all that up?" Asked a curious Amethyst.
"Well, that's what my discovery is all about, I discovered a way of creating gem using only a small amount of rock and dirt, allowing to eco friendly way of increasing the gem population."
"What? That's impossible, even the cheaply made gems like yourself still take far more resources than that." Said Pearl not believing what the green gem was saying.
"Hey…what you mean by cheaply made, I take offence to that." Said a somewhat angry Peridot.
"Oh sorry, I didn't want to offend you…but still, what you are saying doesn't make any sense, its impossible to create gems so easily." Said Pearl.
"I will prove you wrong…true the gems created by this way may not be as strong or fast as normal gems, but they will still be gems." Said the little green gem confident on her own words.
"Sure, then prove it." Said Pearl with a somewhat smug look on her face.
"You will see." Said Peridot before picking something from a table.
"What is that?" Asked Connie having finally decided to talk.
"This, is a mini gem injector I made, works exactly like the real thing, but only creates one gem at the time." Said a proud Peridot.
"Okay, but what makes it so special that it doesn't turn this area in a wasteland?" Asked a still somewhat smug Pearl.
"I made some alterations to it, but first we need to choose what kind of gem we will create." Said Peridot.
"Maybe we should create another Amethyst, I really want another pal, who will play video games and eat stuff with me." said Amethyst with a smile on her face.
"No, let's start with something simple and mediocre…a pearl." Said Peridot.
"Who are you calling simple and mediocre?" Said an offended Pearl.
"Sorry I didn't want to offend you." Said Peridot with a sarcastic tone of voice.
The little green gem then picked a bottle with a strange liquid inside and said…
"Very well let's make a Pearl."
Peridot then put the strange liquid inside of the mini gem injector and…
"Let's go outside and I show you all." Said the little green gem almost like a mad scientist.
She then started to walk to the outside, but then something unexpected happened…she slipped in a ball (That belonged to her pet pumpkin.) and fell in the floor.
"Haaa." Screamed the little green gem, while falling down.
The mini gem injector then flew through the air, and fell directly in Connie's shoulder, injecting her with the strange liquid.
"Auchhh…" Shouted Connie in pain.
"Connie." Shouted Steven, very worried for his friend.
"Oh no." said everyone in the barn.
Everyone then surrounded Connie and…
"Are you okay Connie?" Asked a worried Steven.
"I think so, but my shoulder hurts a little." Said Connie.
"Is she going to be, okay? Please tell me that the gem injector isn't to do anything of bad to her." Asked Steven to Peridot.
"Well…I don't know, no organic being was ever injected with a gem making essence, and even if they ever did, the composition of the liquid injected on her is completely different from the norm." said a really shocked and stressed Peridot.
"What." Shouted Steven, now feeling really stressed and worried.
"Steven…" Said Connie with a low tone of voice.
"What Connie?" Asked a concerned gem hybrid.
"I don't feel very we…" said Connie before fainting.
Steven then holded Connie in his arms and shouted…
"Connie…Connie please talk to me…we have to take her to the hospital."
"Let's take her there right away." Said Pearl also deeply concerned for Connie.
And so, everyone went with Connie to the hospital.
The next day:
Connie was in a hospital bed, still unconscious, then like a miracle she started to wake up…
"Where I am?" Asked the confused girl, since the last thing she remembered was being in the barn with Steven and the crystal gems.
"Oh Connie…you finally wake up." Said Connie's mother now relieved.
"What happened?" Asked Connie, still a little confused.
"You had an accident with something that Steven called… a gem injector…I'm not sure what he meant with that." Answered Connie's mother.
"Steven…can I see him?" Asked the young girl, wanting to see her friend.
"No…after what happened to you while with him, I don't want you to be with Steven for the moment." Said Connie's mother with a very serious tone of voice.
"Oh, come on." Said a disappointed and frustrated Connie.
Connie then looked at her own shoulder and saw it covered by bandages.
"What?" Said Connie.
"Oh that, we had to put bandages in the place where the injector made a hole." Said the mother.
"Oh…okay…but…" Said the young girl before being interrupted by her mother, who said…
"But what?"
"I feel…I cannot explain it well, is like I have something strange and alien in my shoulder, and I don't mean the bandages." Said a confused Connie.
"What…that could be something serious, let me see." Said the mother, before cutting the bandages and revealing something shocking and unusual…a pearl like object stuck on her daughter shoulder.
"What is this?" Asked Connie's mother now concerned and confused.
"Its…just like the gems." Said Connie not believing what she was seeing.
