a/n: Happy 6th anniversary of Xenoblade X in Japan! Yay! We need to do something to celebrate! The members of BLADE have different ideas.
All the good things belong to Monolith Soft.
"Okay, you all know why you're gathered here today," Alexa began the meeting.
"Lin's cookies," Gwin said through a mouthful of crumbs.
"No. We need to plan something cool for the anniversary." She grabbed a cookie from the cascading pile in his hands and took a nibble herself.
"The cookies are plenty cool," Gwin mumbled.
"I am not baking cookies for all of NLA," announced Lin.
"I could help," Doug offered quietly. His dedication for New Los Angeles must have been tremendous, considering that he had only just finished washing the mountain of dishes from the morning's baking session.
"Tatsu help lick bowls," said a somewhat sticky Nopon next to him.
"No," Alexa repeated, having finished her snack. "We need something amazing, and that means..."
"SKELLS! WE KNOW!" interrupted the entire group.
"Skell yes!" Alexa smiled brilliantly at her friends. "Obviously. I mean, what else could be better?"
"Beer," Frye said promptly. No one was surprised. "We should throw a bash in the Repenta parking lot." His brother nudged him, and Frye added, "Yeah, and also some fancy flavored milk too."
"Add frozen coffee drinks and I support that," yelled a BLADE in the far back.
"We would like to see what we could achieve with balloon sculptures," L offered. "A cascading garden, perhaps, folding inward endlessly?" The group tried to imagine this, failed, and moved on.
"A karaoke session could be pretty fun," Doug considered, scratching his short hair.
"DIGGING THE DANCING QUEEN!" screeched Tatsu. That idea was immediately rejected.
"Alexa, while you're ideas of skells, skells, and more skells," began Irina.
"And more skellllsssss," Alexa added dreamily.
"... are fine, it seems that a lot of people like the idea of some kind of food." She looked at Gwin, whose cheeks were now chipmunk-round with cookies. "How about a potluck? I could make my special potato salad." Tatsu shuddered. So did Gwin, who had actually eaten said potato salad.
Elma had joined the group quietly. "That has possibilities, Irina. It would engage all the different communities of New Los Angeles. A very excellent idea." The blonde Interceptor glowed with pleasure at her praise.
Lin tapped her chin with her hand. "I hadn't thought of getting the xenos to join in, but that would be so cool. I mean, the Ma-non would just order pizza, but the Wrothians have some amazing cooks, and so do the Prone. Even the Nopon make some nice dishes." She smiled wickedly. Tatsu pinched her with his wingarm. She sighed and repeated dully, "I will not make let's eat Tatsu jokes. I will not make let's eat Tatsu jokes. I will not make let's eat Tatsu jokes. Okay now?"
"Linly forgiven."
"And we can finally prepare a cat casserole!" L said.
"NO!"
The Anniversary of NLA was celebrated with great enjoyment, tables set all around the cathedral in the Residential District. Wrothian curry, Nopon brambloo shoot stir fry with bbq fish, roasted joints of meat from the Prone, and of course stacks of pizza that threatened to reach the Ma-non ship itself. Elma brewed tea for everyone, Irina pressed her salad into all hands (willing and unwilling). Frye set up a not-so-secret keg in the far corner of the church parking lot. And Lin changed her mind, because with the help of both Tatsu and Doug and few other BLADEs, she did indeed bake and decorate sugar cookies for the entire population of NLA. Skell-shaped ones, to the unending delight of Alexa.
a/n: That was probably my Cross Roo yelling about coffee. Personally I will be baking a cake later today.
