A red-headed woman stares at the destroyed house. Her idiot husband pulled another one of his hair-brained pranks. There was glass everywhere, the purple couch was ripped in half, the walls had cracks in them to the point where you could see the wood beams underneath. The stairs were damaged as well, you could still climb them, but there was still the risk of falling through them if you added too much pressure.

The feed-up woman expelled an angry sigh. She thanked God that her children in school so they didn't get caught in the crosshairs of this disastrous prank. She climbed the stairs carefully and went to each of her children's rooms and started packing the bare essentials. The red-headed woman was leaving her husband and taking the kids with her. It was time. She couldn't take her soon-to-be ex-husband's antics any longer, it put too much stress and strain on not only her but her children as well.

The woman carried each suitcase down the fragile stairs one at a time. When she finished she went to the only place that was damaged which was the piano room. She sat down and started playing. She hadn't played in years because her husband didn't like it. After playing "Moon Sonata" by Beethoven, she took out her phone and called her parents. The phone rang for a few seconds before a deep baritone voice answered with a hello.

"Hello, this is Carter. Who am I speaking to?", asked Carter. " Hi, daddy. It's Lois," exclaimed Lois. " Hi, pumpkin. What's wrong you only call me only on Tuesdays. Today is a Wednesday" said Carter. " Yeah, I'm calling because I was wondering if the offer for the 10 million dollars is still available. I'm leaving Peter and taking the kids with me," explained Lois. There was silence on the other end of the call for a few seconds.

" I'm shocked. You kept telling me for years that you weren't going to leave Peter no matter how many times I've tried to persuade you. You said you loved him." "I know. I fell out of love with Peter. The crazy antics of his are destroying this family and this house. The real reason I married him was that at the time, I was to rebel against you. I felt like you sheltered me too much. So, I figured marrying Peter was the best way to do so." " Now that I'm older and started to do some reflection I realized that it was a good thing that I was sheltered from the harshness of life." " My kids don't have that luxury. Because of Peter's abuse, they might be damaged beyond repair. That's on me, I was so focused on myself and how bad my marriage was that I didn't have my children's safety in mind.", said Lois.

" I'm glad you came to this realization on your own. You wouldn't listen to me. So, you had to find out the hard way what a terrible human being Peter is.", said Carter. " Do you still have that secret bank account that I made for you?", he asked. " Yes, I do.", said Lois. "I'll transfer the money to your account. I'll be booking you and the kids a first-class plane ticket to come to Westport. I don't want you driving all the way here. You and the kids will be coming to stay with me and your mother for a couple of months. Just so you all can rehabilitate." " Thank you, daddy. You don't know how grateful I am for your help," exclaimed Lois. " You don't have to thank me, pumpkin. I just want the best for you and I want my grandkids safe.", explained Carter. " I love you. I'll see you in a few hours.", Lois said. " I love you too, pumpkin. Bye." Carter said. The phone was disconnected.

Lois let out a huge exhale. Her phone buzzed letting her know she received a notification. Four first-class tickets to Westport have been sent to her email. It leaves at 4 pm. Which means she needs to get the kids out of school early today. She went outside to load the Prius with the suitcase and went to each of her children's schools. She notified the principals that her children would be disenrolling their schools. None of them fought her too hard on why she was doing this. Lois finally understood why her children hated their schools so much. After she gets her kids into the car, they start asking questions. " Quiet! I will answer your questions soon, just try to stay calm until we get to a place where we can talk.", explained Lois. The car becomes dead silent. Lois pulls up to a bistro 15 miles from Spooner street. Everyone walked in calmly. "A table for 3 and a booster seat for the little guy?", asked the hostess. " Actually can you give us a booth with some privacy?", asked Lois. " Right this way." "A server will be right with you.", said the hostess. " Thank you. This is lovely.", said Lois. The hostess gave a nod and walked away. A few seconds later the server came to take everyone's drink order and left.
