Hey guys! So, I have had this idea in my head for a while now and I have been wanting to put up a new story, so I thought why not give it a chance? I honestly love the anime and this is really just a random idea that has popped into my head.

We all know that in the anime, Lucy was a princess who didn't want her fancy life and instead chose a life with friends at the FairyTail guild. But what if she wasn't born into the high, fancy lifestyle? What if she had been abandoned at a young age and raised to be something entirely different? Would she still end up as friends with Natsu, Gray and the others? Would she still be as open and friendly towards them? Would she still join the guild?

This story is currently in the trial stages, so please let me know what you think as that will determine if the story is continued or not. This will not be 100% based on the anime. Character looks may be different, locations or personalities may be different, please do not expect everything perfectly from the show.

S.S.S.

Third Person POV

Looking in the mirror at herself, the girl admired her new uniform. Her black, ripped jeans and red corset style top contrasted each other and made her look smaller than she was, with her ankle high combat boots giving her some needed height and her leather jacket covering the scars the littered her arms. She couldn't remember a time when her life was different or when she had wanted differently for herself. This was her job. It is what she was born and trained to do – so she had no qualms about it. Keeping her eyes on her form in the mirror, she pulled her hair up into a tight, high ponytail and reached back to ensure her blade was across her back. She then checked on the spare daggers tucked into her boots and jacket, as well as the chain of iron strapped to her thigh. She sighed, taking one last look in the mirror at herself before turning and walking out of the bedroom.

She walked down the hallway, not bothering to acknowledge anyone that she passed and going so far as to push someone out of her way. She made her way to the golden double doors at the end of the hall and entered, taking in the new look of the Headmaster's office. It was now a dark navy blue which contrasted with the bright white it used to be. The square shape of the room remained with black bookshelves lining the left and right sides of the room. Windows with white curtains were placed between the bookshelves and two were also behind the main desk. The main desk was at the far back of the room with two one white chair set out in front of it. Glass cases formed a small walkway leading from the door to the desk and inside of these cases were the names of the previous Headmasters. The previous legacies of the Legion leading up to the current legacy to be left.

She walked forward and looked out the window to see those she trains with practicing. They were in four lines facing each other and practicing basic attacks: punches and kicks. She is also able to see the run-down courtyard with the pile of rubble which once stood as a fountain for the trainees to drink from. As she looks up from the courtyard, her eyes fall upon the building across the way. The brick building with six floors, one of which is forbidden to all but the Headmaster, where the trainees sleep in their cells.

'I am different though´ the girl reminded herself as she no longer resided in one of those dreary cells. No. She now stayed in a bedroom, having a real bed to sleep in and a real bathroom to use other than a too-small cot and a rusty bucket.

The door opened behind her and she turned to face the Headmaster as he made his way to her, guards closing the door behind him. She took in his appearance and slightly chuckled – he always had that 'perfect' look about him. His black hair was gelled over to one side with no small strands sticking out anywhere, his beard looking groomed as always, and his glasses in place. He wore his usual blue vest with a long-sleeved white undershirt and tie, with the khaki pants and black shoes.

He stepped behind the desk and grabbed her chin, forcing her brown eyes to meet his nearly black ones.

"My dear Lüchev, why do you seem upset? Do you miss training with those fools down there?" He asked.

"No, Headmaster -"

He put one hand over her mouth and the other behind her head, shaking his head slowly, "Now, now Lüchev, we have talked about this before. You are to call me Malächai and nothing else, why do you insist on being so disobedient with me?" He smirks.

A knock on the door makes him look down and sigh before letting go of her head in order to answer the door. She turns back to the window and takes a deep breath, pushing down the weird feeling attempting to invade her and the shiver that tries to crawl up her back.

"Yes?" He calls out. The door opens and a guard walks in, a letter in hand. He hands it to the Headmaster before exiting the room quickly. Without bothering a glance, he throws it on the desk and whistles before pointing to the chair in front of the desk. She takes the seat and faces him, meeting his smirk with her own in an attempt to not seem weak.

"Thank you for meeting with me, my dear" He said, reaching into one of the desk drawers and grabbing a folder. "I believe you know why I asked you here"

"Not really like I had a choice to show up, considering it was either show up or die." The blonde replied as she put her feet up, on the desk. "All I know is that you have a job for me. Nothing more, nothing less."

He leaned forward, putting his arms on the table and lacing his fingers together. "You remember Samuel Hart, younger brother of Irene Hart?"

"I remember the bitch Irene. I still remember the feeling of her struggling to breathe under my iron chain as I strangled her. Didn't know she had a sibling though." The girl replied.

Irene Hart. One of the most wanted women in all of Fiore for her murders of guild members from differing guilds as well as the murders of innocent civilians. The bitch killed her parents and left their bodies hanging from a tree in front of the family home as a sort of calling card that she was nuts. Her fatal mistake was when she attacked the Raven Tail guild, killing seven of its members before attempting to kill Guild Master Ivan Dreyar. Dreyar had called in some of her people after hearing of other guilds getting attacked, so when she and her members attacked it none of them ended up leaving alive. She had fought back, but it didn't last long.

"Well, it seems that Samuel wants to get payback for his sister and her untimely death. He's going around killing anyone that's in his path in order to get the point across. He's already killed five people and we need to end him before he kills anymore."

"Untimely death?" The girl questioned, taking her feet off of the desk quickly, "The bitch killed so many people and then tried to kill a guild master so she could take over the guild. I get the feeling she would've gone until she controlled every guild. I mean Raven Tail split up after her attack because no one there believed the guild master cared for their safety. I took her out because she would not have stopped."

"I understand that, but Samuel doesn't. We believe that he is going to attack the Phantom Lord Guild soon, so I am sending you there to remain until he does so."

"Malächai, how do you know he's attacking that guild? If he is just killing innocents and random people in the street right now, how does he make that jump?"

Standing from his desk, the headmaster made his way around and sat on the arm of the chair. He put a thumb under her chin to make her meets his gaze and placed his forehead on hers. "I chose that guild as his killings were all closest to that guild. It makes sense, doesn't it?"

Ignoring the shiver going down her spine and the vomit attempting to come up, she took a deep breath before standing up. "I think you are making a mistake by sending me there. You are making an assumption based off of no real evidence and it will end up biting you in the ass. But I get the feeling you don't actually want my opinion on this – you just want to hear that you're right. So, I will go and pack my stuff, but any more deaths, whether random or planned, that occur are on your hands. Not mine."

She turned to leave when he grabbed her elbow, effectively making her freeze in place. He lightly ran his hand down her back while his other one moved her hair that was covering her neck. Leaning forward, he started placing light kisses on her neck and made them go up to her ear.

"Do I make you uncomfortable, Lüchev? I mean I'm a man and you are a gorgeous young woman, both of us with special needs that can only be filled with each other. There is no reason to be uncomfortable around each other, right?"

She shut her eyes tightly for a moment before stepping away from him, "Headmaster, I am inclined to remind you that you are married and you have children. You have no place making attempts on me nor do you have the right to put your hands on me in that way."

"I moved you to a real bedroom. I have given you everything. I have practically raised you Lüchev, and you dare disrespect me like this? I will have my fun with you or you will go back to the cells and another girl will take your place" he stepped up to her and grabbed her chin firmly, "You are replaceable, girl. Always remember that."

She turned away from him and walked out of the room, leaving the door wide open behind her. Once out of the room, she started to run as fast as she could – arriving at her room quickly and slamming the door behind her. She put her back on the door and slid down into a sitting position, one hand going to her chin while her breathing calmed down.

After her breathing settled down, she stood and used the dresser next to her to stand up. "I moved you to a real bedroom" He had said. Looking around the room, she took it all in. The black dresser right next to the door to the bedroom, the rack that was used to hold her clothing sitting right next to the dresser – both in view of the window. In front of the window sat a bed, barely long enough for her and only wide enough for her. It wasn't much of a room, but was enough.

She sighed once more before heading to the closet, grabbing a small bag and throwing it on the bed. She put in two tops, two bottoms and a jacket, making sure to leave enough room to fit in some extra weapons. She got another iron chain, her metal knuckles, an extra knife, her knife sharpener, and her special rock. Picking up her rock, she looked at it longingly, waiting for the day she would be able to use it. She had been taught and trained in its use, one of the few to have ever attended the legion to be taught in its uses. 'One day´ she thought as she carefully put it in the bag. Going back to the closet, she grabbed one last thing. 'If the guild is attacked, these could come in handy as well.' She thought before putting them at the bottom of the bag, 'If anyone here were to find out I have this stuff, I could be labeled a traitor. I'll be hunted for the rest of my life by the same people I've grown up around.' She shook her head and zipped up the bag.

Exiting the main building, she ended up in the courtyard with the pile of rubble. There wasn't much as the Headmaster wasn't one for beautifying things, as per his words, "it works and hasn't come crashing down yet. There's no point in fixing what is not yet broken." The sky was bright blue and cloudless, allowing sunrays to fall over the decrepit old buildings making their faults show more. The cracks along the sides of the buildings and the ones in the cemented ground now stood out as much as the blonde did when surrounded by the brunette trainees.

She slowly walked across the courtyard, avoiding the area where the others were training, until she reached the edge of the woods. She sighed. Sometimes her boss not believing in modes of transportation other than walking and running was irritating. They were all in better shape because of it, but that doesn't mean they like doing all of that walking. Shaking her head, she entered the woods carefully, making sure to avoid hitting her head on branches, before pulling out her map.

"Okay" she said to herself, "if I follow to the northeast it should bring me to the Phantom Lord Guild. Alright" she took a breath and looked in the way of her objective. Nothing really stood out to her – no enemies, no footsteps, no magic. It was all quiet. Taking in one more big breath, she started to make her way through the woods as quickly and quietly as she could. It wasn't that far to the guild from the Legion headquarters and the map proved to be accurate as she soon stepped out in front of a building which towered over her. On the front of it was the Phantom Lord symbol, loud and proud. She scoffed at it before entering the building.

All noise inside ceased at once, her appearance drawing everyone's attention. One man stood in front of her, refusing to let her in, when she sent her fist flying as far as it can go and the man flying even further. The attention then turned to worry.

"Who are you?" One man asked, getting a side eye from the girl.

"My name is not important, nor are any of your other questions. I am here to see the master of the guild and I suggest you make it happen quickly."

"Yeah, right. Let me guess, you're just looking to join a guild. Ain't'cha, princess?" Another man asked, looking her in the eye when calling her princess.

"I am here to protect your guild from a mass-murderer. I am not here to protect you from me. Call me princess one more time or get in my face one more time and I will be painting your blue walls red." The girl replied, leaving the guy with shivers. "Now, the master of the guild."

Everyone pointed up the spiral staircase, not saying a word. She smirked at the fear that spread on their faces like paint on a wall before running up. Reaching the top, she could hear murmurs begin downstairs with most being questions about her. Making her smile. She walked until she reached two large doors with the Phantom Lord Guild logo engraved in them. 'The narcissism in here is fucking nuts' the girl thought before opening the doors. Should she have knocked? Maybe. Would she have knocked? No.

She entered into the office, halting the meeting in progress and planting herself in front of one of the large windows.

"Excuse me missy," one irritating voice said, making her turn, "we are in the middle of a meeting and you need to leave now. Do you understand me, little girl?"

She scoffed at the woman before taking in her appearance. Brown hair in a tight little bun on the top of her head, oversized glasses on her face, dark blue blazer which is unbuttoned to show the white tank top underneath, matching dark blue pants, and what seemed to be black heels. The woman was a classic guild accountant, looking and playing the part more easily than she should've been able to.

"You're dismissed." She told the accountant lady before turning back to the window.

She could hear the scoffs before the angry footsteps started to leave the room. She turned to face the only other man in the room, someone looking as fierce yet easy-going as a guild master should. His black-going-gray hair was longer on the top and smoothed back, but shaved on the sides. He wore a black vest with logos she didn't recognize and no shirt, allowing the hard work he did to his body to show off. He wore regular blue jeans, but they were almost no-rise instead of low-rise. He wore black and white tennis shoes that seemed to be too small considering the amount of toe wiggling he was doing in them.

"And you are?" He asked. A polite, but irritated voice comes out.

"Looking for the master of the guild. Was directed up here. Figured this would be his office."

"That's right," he stands up and walks over to her. "Name's Jose Porla. Master of the Phantom Lord Guild. Now, what's you're name."

"Name isn't important. I was sent here by the legion because my boss believes that a mass-murderer is planning to attack your guild. He wants me here to aid you if a battle does break out." She tells him before meeting his eyes. "I'm here to kill the murderer, not to be babysitter to your people. I will kill him and if your people decide to fight or get injured in the middle of it then that's on them. I will not let him go to save one of your own."

The man nods, "A woman with convictions I see. I can respect that. My people will not get in your way nor will they need a babysitter. I just have one question and then will show you to your room. I was informed that a legion member would be showing up, but not told why. Then you tell me that a murderer may attack my guild. Why do you think they are aiming at my guild when there are so many others?"

"Not my call," she said, crossing her arms with a huff. "Boss man said he would most likely attack here because your guild is the closest one to where all of his attacks have occurred and he seems to be wanting to take them over. Boss makes the calls and I take the shots – simple as that."

"Did you not wish to come here?" He asks carefully.

"What I did and did not wish for does not matter, to you or to me. What matters is that I have to be on watch downstairs for this man without your guild knowing who I am. So I need to get moving."

He quickly put an arm out to stop her from walking away, "Why can't my guild know who you are if you are here to protect us? I would assume everyone should know so as to keep out of your way."

"And what if there's a snitch?" She asked while pushing his arm away from her. "What happens if someone here finds out and tells him who I am – tells him my business here? Then he changes his minds and attacks a completely different guild, leaving all of this to have been for naught. I am not risking it and I will not let you risk it. You will introduce me as Ember Wallace, a long-lost family member of yours. You have siblings?"

He nods.

"Good. You will say that I was a child to one of them and that they couldn't care for me, so you took me in. You will treat me like a daughter as it is the only way this will work. I don't care if you don't like it, we need this to go flawlessly." She finished before smiling at him, "Now, where is my room? I would like to clean up a bit before heading back down."

Jose smirked at her before leading the way, holding the doors open for her to exit first. She followed him down that hallway, only now noticing the cobwebs and dust littering the floor and ceilings. 'When was the last time this place was cleaned?' she thought to herself before shuddering. She didn't like dirty places.

They soon arrived at a small, brown door. He opened it and smiled before using an arm to guide her in. Taking a look around, it was nothing impressive, but it would work. There was a bed, a dresser and a bathing room. What more could a girl need? She threw her bags on the bed before kicking the door shut in his face. She removed her coat and carefully laid it on the desk before moving into the bathing room to check her appearance. No cuts, no bruises, no blood. All clear.

She stepped out, heading out of the room and back down the stairs, the room going quiet once more. They gawked now, her outfit drawing much unwanted attention from the men in the room – but she was used to it. Shrugging, she went to the bar and ordered the sweetest drink they could make, whatever it is, before sitting down to take in the room. The drink was made and served quickly, impressing the girl before someone's coughing caught her attention.

The Master of the guild stood on the stairs, awaiting everyone's attention.

"Everyone, I have some news that you must be informed of immediately. My brother, Ryan, had gotten a random mage pregnant and ended up caring for the girl for years. Sadly, the time has come where he is unable to care for her as he has gained illness and is incapable of the simplest things. So, she has come to stay at the guild until further notice. If any of you wish to attack or harass her then you will find yourselves out of the guild quicker than you can blink."

He froze before extending an arm towards her, "Her name is Ember and she will be treated with the same respect that you give me. Nothing less. I want her time here to be rememberable for all the right reasons."

Everyone nodded or responded with "Yes, Master" before he ran back up the stairs. She smiled at those who continued to stare at her, the smile being more devious than anything as they all turned away quickly. She had to admit, the Master did have them trained right.

One girl came running up, jumping up and down, screaming in her ear.

"OHMYGOODNESS! HI,OHMYGOSH! ILOVEYOURSHOES, WHEREDID – " She put her hand over the orange haired girls' mouth.

"I am one person. You will not scream at me again and you will talk normally with me, or else you can drag your sorry ass back to the seat you came from."

"Right, sorry. I just get so excited whenever someone new joins the guild. Did you know that no one new has joined in years? I wonder why that is."

'I think I know why that is, but I'm not gonna say it to you little miss screams in my ear' the blonde thought to herself before shrugging. "Who knows, maybe they were just too weak to join the guild."

"Yeah! Anyways, I'm Ruby and this - " she reaches over and pulls a man towards us, "is my boyfriend Ehlrich. So make sure to remember that he's taken." She smiles once more before letting the boy go.

"Don't worry about me going for him. Not interested." She stood to walk away when Ruby grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

"Wait, you didn't tell me your name. If we're to be friends we need to know each others names."

"Didn't you hear the old man? You call me Ember – my name." Ember said, making Ruby nod silently before walking away.

'If I have to deal with one more idiot I may just kill them all myself." Ember thought to herself as she sat back down and downed her drink. Only so much more time left with them.
