It was late evening and Lexie was sitting in her bed reading while Delta was flying around the room, she glanced up from her book and smiled at her digital friend. "Delta, how do you have so much energy? Please tell me Scotty hasn't been messing with your systems again." The tiny robot quickly shook his head as he came to hover in front of her, "Nope, Scotty ain't touched my systems, not after what happened the last time. I'm just full of energy, that's all." Delta replied, he then noticed the book in Lexie's hand wasn't a technical journal but an actual book. "You reading that book you brought on Lilo?" He asked as he landed next to her, "Yep, I want to read it all as soon as possible since I did promise Scotty he could read it as well." Lexie replied as she turned the page. "What part are you on? Anything exciting happened since the last time I asked?" Lexie chuckled as she gestured for Delta to come and sit on her lap, "You ain't missed much Delta, the group have only just discovered that they have gained elemental powers." Delta's eyes seemed to light up. "Brilliant, what kind of elemental powers?" Lexie was just about to answer when her communicator bleeped, she reached over and grabbed it. "Smith here." "Sorry lass, did I wake you?" Asked the voice on the other end, "You didn't wake me Scotty I was just reading, what's up? Don't tell me Keenser's managed to get himself stuck under the dilithium chamber again?" Lexie replied.
"Not to worry lass, the wee lads just fine. There's something I think you should see, come up to the bridge." The Scotsman replied, Lexie was relieved to hear that it wasn't to do with Keenser but what was Scotty so desperate to show her. "Alright Scotty, I'll be right there." Lexie flicked her communicator shut before placing it back on the side table, "Come on Delta, apparently Scotty has something to show us." She said while placing her bookmark in the volume before placing it gently on the bed, Delta beamed happily as he once again began to fly around the room while Lexie changed out of her PJ's and into her uniform. "Maybe I should just start sleeping in my uniform?" Lexie questioned herself as she slipped on her shirt, this was the third time this week she had been dragged from her bed, and it was only Wednesday. The first time was went Scotty thought it would be a great idea to mess around with Delta's systems, it took the command crew more than an hour to catch the little guy as he zoomed around the ship and it took Lexie even longer to fix the damage Scotty had done. The Second time was when Keenser during his twilight shift managed to get himself wedged under the dilithium chamber while doing some maintenance (how he did that they still didn't know) but it took Lexie, Scotty, Kirk who had come down to Engineering for some reason and McCoy who also had wandered down there to pull him out.
Soon Lexie was making her way up to the bridge with Delta flying alongside her, she was just hoping that whatever the Scotsman wanted to show her it was worth her getting out of bed. Along the way she stopped next to one of the ships replicators, "Coffee, slightly milky, three sugars." Lexie didn't drink coffee that often, but she felt like she needed one just to keep her eyes open. Soon a mug of piping hot coffee martialized before her eyes, which she took quickly. Lexie hadn't realized how tired she actually was, clearly all those late nights were catching up with her. They soon entered onto the bridge and Lexie immediately wandered over to Scotty who was stood at the bottom of the steps, while Delta went over to Chekov. "Here Scotty." Lexie said sleepily, Scotty turned to face her and had to stop himself from giggling. Although Lexie was in her uniform which looked as pristine as ever, her hair was up in a messy ponytail and her eyes looked like they were extremely heavy. "You look a bit tired lass." Lexie just glared at him, "Scotty, I know you're my commanding officer but I assure you, make one more comment like that and I'll throw my coffee at you." Scotty quickly rubbed the back of his neck, "The lass is scary when she's tired." He muttered to himself.
"Now what did you want to show me?" Scotty pointed towards the view screen, "Take a look at that lassie." Lexie turned to face the screen and gasped at what she saw. It was a planet but it was split in half, between the two larger sections were tiny chunks of planet just floating there. But that wasn't the most amazing thing, there seemed to be some sort of aurora borealis surrounding it, Lexie just stared in amazement. "That's… That's incredible!" "It sure is lass, I've never seen anything like it." Scotty replied, "I also agree with Lieutenant Smith Mr Scott, never have I seen a M-class planet like this. It's very fascinating." Said a voice from beside her, Lexie turned to see Spock standing next to her. "Wait? Did you say, M-class Mr Spock?" Lexie questioned, Spock nodded. "You mean to say, that shattered planet can sustain life?!" Scotty asked, clearly he was as surprised as Lexie, Spock raised an eyebrow. "That is what I said Mr Scott." Lexie turned to face the Vulcan, "Do we know how this planet came to be like this Sir?" She asked, "That is still unclear at this point, the only information in Star Fleet data bases about this planet is that it is call Cecilia. That is why the Captain is arranging a landing party to beam down to explore." Lexie may be tired but she didn't want to pass up an opportunity like this, hopefully Kirk would ask her to be part of the landing party and if he didn't she would ask if she could be.
Thanks to Chekov's announcement, Lexie knew that her Captain had returned to the bridge. Kirk went to walk over to Uhura but stopped, he then turned to face Lexie with a confused expression on his face. "Lexie? What you doing on the bridge?" He asked, Kirk didn't mind her being on the bridge but it wasn't often that he didn't know about it. "That's my doing Sir, I called the lass up to see the planet. Sorry should have ask ya first." Kirk gave his Chief a soft smile, "You don't have to ask my permission Scotty, you're her Commanding Officer after all." Scotty returned a smile to his Captain who had wandered over to them, he then noticed that Lexie looked a bit tired. "Don't tell me Scotty dragged you out of bed for this?" Lexie shook her head after taking a sip of her coffee, "Not technically Sir, I was in bed yes, but I wasn't asleep. I've just had a few late nights this week, that's all." Kirk stared blankly at her. "It's only Wednesday!" "Exactly…" Lexie muttered, Scotty folded his arms crossly and his smile was wiped from his face.
"So you threaten to lob your coffee at me if I made any comments on how tired you look, but Kirk gets away without even a snarky comment!" Lexie chuckled as she placed her free hand on one of the Engineers shoulders, "He's my Captain Scotty besides, I know you wouldn't take it too personally." Scotty's smile quickly returned, he knew Lexie was right. "I'm glad I found you actually Lex and you too Scotty, I was wondering if the two of you would like to be part of the landing party which will be going to explore the planet?" Lexie turned to face Scotty who simply nodded, "Of course Sir, it's not every day you get to explore a split planet now is it." Lexie stated. Kirk couldn't agree more, "Well then that settles it, we beam down in an hour." Scotty turned to face his young Engineer. "You gonna be more awake by then?" Almost instantly Scotty remembered the threat that Lexie had made mere moments ago, he quickly put up his hands and waved them about frantically. "I'm sorry Lex, I didn't mean to say that. Please don't throw ya coffee at me." Lexie chuckled as she place a hand back on Scotty's shoulder, "Don't panic yourself Scotty, I ain't got any coffee left to throw." Scotty sighed in relief before himself and Lexie walked of the bridge to prepare for their trip.
Lexie had returned to her quarters to get ready, she had decided to change into a fresh uniform before beaming down. "Can I come with you Lex?" Delta asked, Lexie stopped dead. She really wanted to say yes, but the memory of what happened the last time she took him off ship came to her mind. "I'll have to ask Kirk, but you may be needed here to help study information we send back." Lexie replied as she continued brushing her hair, "That's something I didn't think about, maybe I'll just stay on the ship." Delta said as he hopped down off the desk. Lexie sighed quietly in relief, at least this way she knew that Delta would be safe. "If that's what you want to do Delta, I'll take you up to the bridge before I head off to meet Kirk and Scotty." Delta just nodded as he took off flying around the room again, while Lexie concentrated on putting her hair up, "I really should have gotten a haircut on Lilo." She muttered to herself. Soon Lexie was all ready and was just heading back up to the bridge, with Delta flying beside her.
Lexie was so happy that her digital friend didn't need to hide anymore from the crew, after the events with Roman the whole Enterprise had learnt about Delta. Not only did the crew now know about him, even Star Fleet knew which made Delta even happier. The pair soon entered onto the bridge to see Spock sitting in the command chair, he turned to face them as they walked towards him. "I was under the impression that you were part of the landing party Lieutenant, may I enquire as to why you are on the bridge?" Spock asked in his normal calm way, Lexie smiled at him despite knowing full well that the Vulcan wouldn't smile back. "I just came to bring Delta up to the bridge Sir, I believe he may come in handy." Spock simply nodded, "Very logical Lieutenant, but may I suggest that you head off to the transporter room, Captain Kirk will be waiting." Lexie nodded in responds before turning to face Delta, who was hovering next to her. "Now behave yourself Delta and listen to Mr Spock." Delta gave Lexie a smile, "I will Lex, don't worry." Lexie smiled as she gave him a gentle 'boop' on the nose before leaving the bridge.
As Lexie walked down the halls, a question was playing over in her mind. Why did the name 'Cecilia' sound so familiar? As soon as Spock had announced the name of the planet below, the name seemed to resonate within Lexie's mind, but for the life of her Lexie couldn't figure it out. It didn't take long for Lexie to reach the transporter room, so she pushed her mental question to the back of her mind, when she walked in she saw it wasn't only Kirk and Scotty who were waiting for her. Chekov and McCoy were also there, "Took your time." Muttered McCoy with his arms crossed. "Sorry, I took Delta up to the bridge to work alongside Spock." McCoy slowly showed a smile, Scotty was also smiling at her but he could see something was on her mind. As Kirk was talking with Chekov and McCoy while they waited for the Ensign to find a suitable spot to beam them down, Scotty wandered over to Lexie.
"What's on your mind lass?" "Nothing really Scotty, I'm just thinking about what's going to happen next in my book." Scotty nodded, "Arh, you've started to read it then?" Lexie nodded. "Finally yes, I've been so busy ever since I brought it that I haven't had the chance to sit down and read the dam thing." Scotty chuckled quietly, he felt slightly guilty for the fact that Lexie hadn't been able to read her book. A short time later the transporter was all set to beam them down in a suitable location, "Alright, let's get going." Kirk called as he stepped up onto the transporter pad, closely followed by everyone else. Kirk glanced over to see that McCoy looked a little on edge, "You alright Bones?" "Fine Jim, just a little nervous about beaming down onto a shattered planet." Kirk smiled as he slapped McCoy on the back. "Don't worry Bones, what's the…" McCoy span round to glare at him, "Don't you bloody dare say one more word! Every time you say that, something terrible always happens." Kirk simply smiled nervously and he didn't bother finishing his sentence, since he knew the Doctor was right. He didn't want a repeat of what happened on Delta Vega.
