Chapter 1

Rock n Roll

For Scott Summers, most of his problems began with the dark.

When his powers had manifested he'd been left blind to the world.

6 months it had taken the professor to put together his signature shades.

From that moment on he despised being in the dark about things, realisticly and metaphorically.

Their had been only one occasion when the dark had led him to something good. Mystique leaving him in Mexico blind to the elements had started his relationship with Jean.

Jean and Scott.

Scott and Jean.

Even the threat of the end of the world had not been strong enough to tear them apart.

But as of six months later things had changed though Scott would never admit it to anyone.

Jean had become more distant. More occupied. More involved in those long conversations they use to share, with another.

Enter the opposition.

Logan.

The wolverine.

His long time teacher.

It spoke much to Scotts patience that he had yet to call the other two out about their obvious Attraction.

But Scott could wait and he did. For atleast another month. He'd planned on confronting her, asking her all the sensible questions on his mind. Being the sensible young man he was.

He never got the opportunity.

They were sharing a kiss in the moonlight. And their were tears in her eyes.

Scott vaguely worried if he himself was to blame. Was he the selfish one. Keeping her from the one she truly loved.

The more rational part of himself reminding him that she continued to keep him in the dark, sneaking around behind his back. When in reality he loved her enough to let her go if need be.

As of this very moment he wondered who else knew. Who else was keeping him in dark about the other two.

Probably everyone, he reasoned. For no one in the mansion had the ability to keep a secret for long.

But it had been six months since the kiss. And no one had come forward.

And neither had Jean. She had only grown more occupied.

Which led him to what he was doing now, driving Kurt, Kitty and Rouge to school.

They blabbed on and on about things Scott didnt care about, he just drove, enjoying the sun on his face.

His car jolted suddenly and the road gave a slight shudder underneath him and Scott made and annoyed sound as he passed Lance Alvers' jeap on the side of road with the latter no where in sight.

He rolled his eyes under his shades and pulled over onto the roads shoulder.

"Scott, Like were gonna be late. Can't you like do the whole testosterone thing later?" Kitty asked annoyed, but Scott just ignored them sliding slightly down the hill and heading off into the forest.

The ground continued its tremors the closer he got.

The other boy to his credit had no idea of the others approach. Focusing solely on the rocks along the edge of the cliff. Working to bend it to his will if he was able.

"Hey Alvers'! do you mind? Some people are trying to drive up there." Scott asked startling the other.

Lance visbly jumped, losing focus the earth giving a hard shake.

"Damnit Summers! Cant you see im in the middle of. . " He never finished the sentence.

There was a loud thundering sound. Rocks were rolling down the mountain. Straight for the spectacled teen.

"Scott!"

Scott heard his name. The sound of it comeing from his rival did someting to him he couldnt quite understand. And then the others body slammed into his rolling them down the hill and out of danger. They rolled once. Twice. Three times.

When they were finally still. Lance was seated on his his thighs, knees on either side of his own. They were chest to chest.

A precarious position indeed.

But Scott was more irritated than anything. Having lost his glasses in the commotion.

He was blind again.

Lance sat perfectly still. As the other looked quite angered. And he could see why,the glasses for his mutation were broken a few feet away. He sighed and rolled his eyes. They were far to close together he registered. Chest to chest, Scott's hand seated perfectly on his hips. He blushed.

oh boy.

Scott felt and heat coming from the other boy all of a sudden and wondered if he could be blushing a the position they were in. Unable to do anything else he lifted a tips trailing up Lance's arm and then up his curve of his neck.

He smirked slightly at the shudder in the others body. He traced a thumb along the others cheek and over parted lips.

"Scott?" Came the others breathy whisper, but Scott just ignored him, his other senses were on fire. The feel of Lance against him. The slight smell of grass and aftershave that clung to him all the time. The small but sharp intakes of breath. Just to damn much.

He leaned forward eyes still closed mind you. And pressed his lips against the rock tumblers in a hot kiss.

Lance groaned. Scott was such a good little boy scout he doubted the other realized just what those feather light touches did to him.

They jerked apart suddenly the sound of approaching footsteps and hollers catching their preoccupied attenion. Lance stood quickly pulling the other with him. Schooling his features for his and Scotts usual fight. Though he doubted it would be their usual after that kiss.

Scott suddenly felt way less annoyed at being blinded he decided quite giddy.

"Scott. There ya are. We are so freaking late. Oh shit what happened to ya glasses? Lance what did you do ta Scott?" Rouge snapped at him her green eye narrowed.

Lance rolled his. "He's fine we just took a tumble down the hill is all no big deal. Maybe next time he wont interfere with my training and I wont have to save his ass." he snipped but even she noticed that the words held less bite than usual.

Curious but unrelated.

"Come on Scott fo'get him. Kurt proted Kitty to school, So all drive you home."

He allowed her to lead him by the hand up the hill and to the car. He didn't speak.

And Rouge had to give herself credit in not asking what was wrong. She didnt want to know. It was cowardly, sure. knowing ones secret, especially and friends was hard. It wouldnt take much for Scott to break down her walls about Jean.

Yeah she knew. As did many of the others. But the red head had insisted she would tell him when she was ready. It had been six months though. And it was still happening. So much for coming clean.

Scott was going over every moment he'd ever spent with Lance.

When had Alvers become Lance? Nevermind, nevermind.

When had their relationship shifted from mutual hated respect to whatever that kiss had been.

Scott and Jean hadnt shared a kiss like that in quite some time. Any physical contact really. A hug here and there but otherwise nothing.

But that kiss.

Ughhh! It linger still on his lips. Surrounding him. He felt a rush of guilt run through him suddenly.

Two wrongs didnt make a right. And he shouldv'e kissed Lance while he was still in a realationship with Jean.

'But she's blissfully screwing wolverine'

Scott frowned at his own inner voice, noting it was starting to sound slightly like quicksilver.

He scoffed out loud and Rouge let out a slight huff.

They pulled into the mansion after only a short amount of time.

The short time enough for Scott to have made the decision to tell Jean the truth about the kiss. He bid the other goodbye, telling her to take the car to school. And to bring the Brat pack back with her later.

She laughed out loud and took off spinning the tires as she went.

Scott navigated his way into the mansion knowing his way even blind, and took off upstairs to his room.

He slid his glasses onto his face and sighed out loud. Staring into the closet mirror. He was dirty, not to badly, no enough to worry about.

He shrugged and took off to find the red head of his dreams. He took the stairs, forgoing the elevator for more time to think. He paused hearing hushed voices and smacking lips. He wanted to growl out loud at the arms draped around her waist.

To punch. To claim. But he couldnt bring himself to move.

The need to tell her about the kiss was lessening and he wondered to himself if she would even care.

'she wont. look at him kiss her. He's sex on legs. what are you?' the annoying voice in his head said again and he shook it away. Taking back off to his room.

He layed on the bed thinking about his options.

While it was true that two wrongs didnt make a right, he suddenly didnt feel like he "had" to tell her about the kiss. He and Lance weren't screwing or anything.

'you could tho he's hot. And he's obviously interested' the voice interupted.

But did that make him any better than her?

'she's been keeping you in the dark for six months. If she was going to tell you she would have already.'

That was true actually.

'yup yup, it sure is. She would be none the wiser to you hanging out with Lance. She pays you zero attenion these days anyway'

Another truth. But what if she found out. It would hurt her.

'Who cares! she obviously dosen't care if your hurting or not, otherwise she wouldv'e come clean. If she catches you, it would be all the sweeter.'

His inner voice was definitly sound like Pietro. And the vindictive feeling that washed over him was most unwelcome. He loved Jean.

But Lance was . .

'Hot! Hot hot hot. And exciting. You know I bet he's at home you should go see.'

Scott nodded slightly to himself and then grumped and little. His car was at the High School. He couldn't go anywhere.

'You could see if Logan will lend you his bike. Fucker owes you and a little exploitation of guilt never hurt much'

His inner voice was an ass hole. And he sort of liked it.

He hopped up suddenly determined and went off to find the Wolverine.

He was in the lab with Beast and Jean was no where to be found.

"Hey Logan! Could I borrow your bike for a bit. Kids got my car for today and I need a ride." He asked easily.

The other growled. "And why would I lend you my bike, Your pretty ballsy to even ask slim." he gruffed and Scott rolled his eyes phrasing his next words carefully.

"I know, I know. That bikes like your woman. I would never do anything to wreck it. Dont you trust me." He said softly and he noted the guily look that crossed, Both? of their features before it was gone.

"Fine!" Logan growled tossing him the key ring in a fluid motion. "But be damn careful slim ok. I just got her out of the shop."

"You got it. Bye guys!" he waved and took off back for the elevator.

Jean stepped out as he went to step in.

But he only smiled brightly and waved, bidding her goodbye only through the doors.

'to easy, and none the wiser' the voice in his head simpered in a sweet voice. He scoffed at his own sillyness and hit the button on the elevatior. Suddenly feeling less blind than he ever had before.
