Ashes and Regret
Chapter 1
Author's Note Brucas and their friends are in their 30's now. Let me know what you think.? Review!
Here you are now calling me out.
But I don't know what to say.
I've been picking up the pieces of the mess you made.
We all have aspects to our lives that we keep hidden. Lies are meant to shield the things we aren't ready to face or cushion the impact when everything is revealed.
I watched as my friends moved forward with their lives. Nathan and Haley got married in high school had Jamie and Lydia. She is a teacher at the high school while Nathan is a leading scorer.
Peyton and Jake eloped. Peyton adopted Jenny.
Mouth ended with Millicent and eventually they left Tree Hill all together.
Lastly there remains Me and Brooke. There is alot to unpack regarding us. Who we are to each other now. How we got here.
We became parents at 16. Our sons changing our lives for the better. Then at 18 we had our daughter. But it forced us to grow up faster then we were prepared for.
Throwing in the fact that we got married during Brooke's first pregnancy. It would be easy to say we just grew up and grew apart.
Yet it would end being a lie. Getting a divorce was the last thing her and I wanted but the relationship between two people becomes hard to recognize.
Sometimes you have to put an end to it. Before the two of you end up hating each other. No one wins when that happens.
"Mom!" Penelope Elizabeth Scott. Called out as she entered her mother's bedroom.
Brooke didn't realize she was so lost in thought until she saw her daughter staring back at her with an annoyed expression splashed across her face.
"What happened.?" Brooke asked.
"My cheer uniform is wet. I have a game to cheer at tonight." Penelope explained.
"I will take care of it for you. You don't want to be late. You're brothers are giving you a ride to Karen's. So the three of you can have breakfast with you're dad. It's be fine P." Brooke reassured her youngest child.
"Remember you and dad both agreed to come to family dinner tonight at grandma Karen's and grandpa Keith's house." Penelope reminded her mother. As she left the bedroom.
Brooke sighed deeply. She remembered. Seeing Lucas always made her heart drop and stomach twist in knots. Since things ended between them.
Their kids were the main focus. The estranged couple had been divorced for 2 years now. And still none of it was easy.

Karen's Cafe
"Please tell me you didn't invite us all here just tell us you aren't coming to dinner tonight.?" Penelope asked.
"She's right dad. Besides school those dinners are what we look forward too the most during the week." Carson said.
"Unless you're going on another book tour and want to invite us to come along because if that's it. I'm volunteering to go." Brian added in.
Lucas looked to his his children. His little girl was 14 the mirror image of her mother. While his boys were copies of him identical twins. All blue eyes and blond hair.
"I've never missed a dinner. I'll be there and i just wanted to spend some quality time with my kids. That's all. Fill me in on everything going on. The three of you are so busy lately." Lucas proclaimed.
