It was a horrible day for Natsuki Subaru.
He had suffered from a long-lasting nightmare that continued to haunt him even after Beatrice had awakened him. Being an obstacle in his everyday life. He wished the nightmare would vanish from his mind so he could continue on spending time with his friends.
But that wasn't the only obstacle standing in the black-haired boy's way.
It appears Ram had messed up again, ruining the kitchen in her attempt in cooking. He really wished that she would at least ask him for help. He wouldn't mind, really.
So he has been spending his time cleaning the kitchen, since Frederica and Petra weren't around at the time either. Making it harder for the boy. He spent two hours cleaning the kitchen. Wasting most of the time he could've spent with the others.
After he was done with cleaning the kitchen, he left to start training his Parkour skills with Garfiel. But was unable to due to a simple problem…
It was raining.
Obviously, It would be dangerous to train out in the rain. He knew that much.
He decided to cancel his plans to train and went to meet up with Otto in his office, but once again. Another obstacle stood in his way. His thoughts.
Natsuki Subaru's mind was not the peachiest there is. If anything, it was a nightmare. Living through day-to-day life with all sorts of thoughts to disrupt your day. These thoughts could drive somebody insane. The thoughts were beginning to haunt the boy again, tempting his desire to scratch his arm again. He was in the middle of the hallway, trying to make his way to Otto's office.
"Gh…Stop!" He yelled out as he pulled his hand away from his arm, desiring to stop his habit this time so he wouldn't burden his friend with this, if he does notice the wound.
He took a heavy breath, shaking his head as he looked around him. Checking his surroundings. Nobody was there. Good.
Subaru would let out a sigh before continuing on his way to the office, wanting to spend time with Otto as he knocked on his door.
"Oy! Otto! You there?" Subaru would call out, checking if Otto's in his office or not. He hoped he was in his office so he could start messing with him again.
…
…
…
No response.
Looks like the silver-haired merchant is asleep. That's a bummer.
He'd sigh as he walked away from his office with his head down in disappointment, he can't blame him. Otto often overworks himself after all. A Break is just what he needs right now.
Subaru had asked Ram if there are any chores he can help out with, other then the kitchen it seems there is nothing for Subaru to do. Leaving him with the realization that he has nothing to do. Wait…Beatrice!
Of course, how could he forget?
The Black haired boy could never leave out his lovable spirit in his everyday life. Now all he has to do is find her and read a book with her, or maybe slam her head to the ground over and ov- STOP! He had to get rid of these horrible thoughts, and so he began walking throughout the miload mansion. Seeking the spirit. Only to find out…
…She's not in the mansion.
Huh, she must be spending time with Petra and Frederica. After all, those two haven't been around when he has been trying to clean up the kitchen. Looks like he has no choice but to retreat to his office.
As the black-haired boy was walking through the hall to his office, there was a window standing next to him. Light illuminating through it and the sight of a silver-haired maiden conversing with the spirits in the garden outside.
"EMT (Emilia-tan's seriously an angel!)" Subaru muttered to himself as he thought about the times he had spent with her, she truly was an angel. Even after everything he had done to her.
He tried suppressing the uprise in painful memories, as he held onto his head. Shaking it before retreating to his office. This was truly a terrible day for him. The least he can do is at least come up with a plan for tomorrow. Perhaps he can go on a date with Emilia? Or visit the capital again?
The Possibilities were endless. Therefore, he will be taking up this chance to prepare tomorrow's events for him and his friends.
But midway through his path to his office, he began realizing. It's quiet. Too quiet.
"Why the hell is this hallway so damn long?" Subaru asked as he kept on walking, becoming more and more agitated on his way through. His breathing started becoming heavier and heavier.
The Rattling of chains echoed throughout the hall, making Subaru step back and try to run away from it.
"No…NO!" Subaru yelled out in a frantic tone as he ran through the hall, trying to run away from whatever was coming towards him.
Subaru continued to run before finding himself standing before the bowel hunter. She stood there with a mischievous grin on her face. His face twisted in fear before he ran away again, screaming.
"STOP! GET AWAY FROM ME! THIS ISN'T REAL!" He screamed out in fear, hoping that whatever was chasing him would leave him alone.
But as he continued to run, a snowscape had appeared before his eyes. And he was standing in the middle of it, the black haired boy began checking his surroundings only to find a small white rabbit a few feet away from him.
"Please…No…" Subaru said in a weak voice, as he collapsed into a sitting position and held onto his head. Beginning to tremble and with tears flowing down. It was as if he was a toddler again.
The Rabbit took a step forward.
"PLEASE GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" He screamed out before a distant voice awakened him from what he was experiencing.
"Subaru!" A Bell-chimed voice made its way to his ears as she was shaking his shoulders. Trying to get his attention.
"…Huh?" Subaru was confused, was it all an illusion? It…didn't matter to him. He needed to get it out of his head and proceed with his day. It's just what he has to do. That's the Natsuki Subaru style of living.
"Subaru, are you alright?" She asked in a worried tone, her amethyst eyes glistering and her facial features showing off her worry for the black-haired boy sitting in front of her.
"O-Oh! Emilia-tan! I'm fine! Amazing, in fact! I was on my way to decide on our plans for tomorrow!" Subaru said whilst attempting to mask the fear and anxiety he felt throughout that experience.
He didn't need to burden her with his problems, he can just take care of them on his own and nobody would have to suffer.
Just as Emilia was about to say something, Subaru would stand up on his feet and begin marching on his way to his study room. Not wishing to continue this situation any longer.
"Now, if you excuse me. I'll be on my wa-"
"Hold it right there, Mister!"
Little did he know that the half elf was not intending to let him get away with this, as she grabbed him by the arm and stopped him from continuing.
"I can't let you keep hiding things from me, Subaru." She said whilst holding his arm, her face showcasing her worry for her knight. After all, he had been getting himself injured over and over for her.
She can't keep taking from him, it's about time that she repays him from all the good that he had done for her.
"W-What are you talking about, Emilia-tan?! I told you I'm fine!" He said as he rubbed his head, hoping Emilia would buy it.
But of course she wouldn't, she narrowed her eyes as her facial features took on an expression of anger.
"Subaru! Take this seriously!" Honestly, she really wished that he'd start opening up to her. He was her knight after all.
"I am serious! Very serious!" He said whilst striking a pose, still trying to push her away. Again, he can't allow her to be burdened with his problems. He doesn't want that. It would only make her suffer. And he doesn't want anybody to suffer.
A Sigh would leave the silver-haired maiden before she pulled Subaru into her arms, and put him in a warm embrace.
"Honestly, you really can be a dunderhead." She cooed in his ear whilst rubbing his back in the embrace.
Subaru was speechless. He didn't expect this at all.
"W-What's this about Emilia-tan?" He said in a stuttering tone, surprise overtaking his facial features.
"Consider it a gift from me, Subaru. I've always been taking and taking from you. I think it's about time I repay you for all the good you've done for me." She said with a gentle voice as she continued rubbing his back.
Before Subaru was about to speak, she cut him off.
"You know? I've always loved how you'd bring life to the camp. Your mannerisms and voice always brings everyone up to high spirits. Even the children in that village have gotten close to you too." She said whilst beginning to pet him in the back of his head.
"B-Bu-" Just as Subaru was about to speak, Emilia immediately cut him off again.
"Shhhh…you don't have to talk. You've done a really bad thing today, Mister! And for that your punishment is to stay with me for the rest of the day." Emilia would say with a smile, as she continued petting him. He always seemed to like it.
"I've…I've never done anything for any of you! I'm the one who's only been taking from you all! All I've done is take, take and take! And I've…I've hated that!"
He began holding onto the silver-haired half-elf tightly as tears were beginning to flow out.
"I WISH I COULD BE USEFUL FOR ONC-" But before he was able to continue, he was cut off with a pillowy sensation on his lips. Ah, she had really went and kissed the black-haired boy.
The two continued kissing until Emilia had to part her lips, with a blush on her face.
"I-I'm sorry if it wasn't perfect…i-it's my first time giving somebody a kiss.." She said in a stuttering tone, she seemed to be flustered.
Subaru could only keep staring at her in shock, not being able to process what Emilia had just done to him.
Did she really kiss him? Did that really happen?
He'd be knocked out of his thoughts with a sensation on both of his cheeks, it seemed Emilia had held onto them as she looked at Subaru with a warm smile on her face.
"I'm glad you were born, Subaru. Nobody else could give me the same happiness as you could." She said before pulling him in for another kiss.
And so they spent the rest of their day together, giving affection to one another until the next day arrived.
He really wished that he could spend his time with Emilia like this everyday.
It was a dream he desired.
But why should he worry about such a thing? After all…
Life could be a dream.
