Hi! Thanks for giving me a chance :)
**********This is a sequel to my story "SENSES" /works/23098672/chapters/55262647
You don't have to have read Senses to understand, but it's always good!**********
I know that the category here is Teen Titans, but as Starfire us in it, and it's a "RobStar", I decided to post here too, even if it happens on Young Justice.
FIRST OF ALL: English isn't my first language, I am Brazilian. I have been writing fanfics for a long time in my mother language and I want to start translating them, mainly because the brazilian Young Justice fandom is very small. So any strangeness in translation I'd be very happy to be helped and guided. Thank you!
I watched the cartoon in portuguese and Dick doesn't have the same "puns" with the words, like in the original.
- At Starfire, I like uniforms that show skin. I know it doesn't fit so much with the YJ universe, but I like it, it's my fic, so the uniform is DcYou hahah
- Each chapter was written thinking about a song from the album Changes, by Ella Mai. There are 5 songs :) It is an album that talks about the change of being alone and falling in love again. I think '' 'changes' '' represents a lot in Kori life!
- I reinvent Kori's story a little bit. Overall, it's the same, but with a few different details!
The link to the album is this:

The first song is Down.
Good reading!
HAPPINESS
Tell me what you wanna feel
Is there something I can heal?
We can paint the perfect picture, picture
Make a story we can tell
Honestly ain't tryna push
I just know where to look
See you watching me watching you watch my body
Don't be scared to speak up
She hugged her own arms and lifted her chin, looking out over the Watchtower - or that was the name she had understood. The galaxy outside called to her; she liked that welcoming darkness, liked the slow ripples in her body when she was flying in the absolute nothingness. In absolute silence. In absolute peace.
In the background, she managed to capitulate something that the Justice League, the group of terrestrial heroes, was talking about. She didn't focus enough on their voices to decode what they were saying, but she already imagined that they were deciding on a possible stay for her. There were those who were in favor; there were those who were against it.
"It's a political scandal" one of the Green Lanterns, which she sincerely preferred not to know the name for now, had said. Her devastating home planet situation, Tamaran, could hardly be summed up in "political scandal", although Komand'r would certainly approve of the term. But Kori knew that it was much more than a politic and even understood what Green Lantern meant by that; if the Earth got involved, there could be reprisals.
The Gordonians had lost her location - but it wasn't going to last long, Kori knew. That Green Lantern was wise to fear; that monstrous, rotten, slavery race would come after its prize – They would come after her. The moment she posed on this small blue planet and realized the fragility of its inhabitants, Koriand'r knew that a single Gordonian ship could decimate this entire world.
She even realized that this, also, was the planet of the Justice League.
Anyway, Lantern was right to think those things. That man in black, with a pointed mask and cold body expressions, was also right to agree with the teammate - "we don't know her; it's risky," he had said. The last Kryptonian, and Kori had to be very careful not to open her mouth in a "o", impressed to know him personally (and, X'hal, she had already met many different races), however, disagreed with them. With a serious expression, of someone who doesn't go back, he spoke, even after hearing the little summary of the Green Lantern about the situation: "we help those in need". Knowing that the Gordonians wanted to enslave her only made, Kori noticed out of the corner of his eye, he clenched his fingers even harder in his fist.
As with her, the idea of slavery also deeply repudiated him. The Thanagarian couple, and she noticed them because of the wings and uniforms, were also on the side of the Kryptonian. Like Tamaran, Thanagar had also suffered from the Gordonians' invasion; it was only natural that they should be against these people.
No sooner had she arrived and, X'hal, was already causing discord in a community that, having heard the stories, was very united. The great Justice League in an intense debate because of her.
Her thoughts were so noisy, so confused; so much had happened in a few hours - she managed to escape the Gordonian ship, the discovery of that great star, that Kori didn't remember the name very well (not in that new language she was speaking), but that was able to energize her even more than Vegas, her tumultuous landing, the damage she had done in that city, the heroes who were trying to stop her while she was afraid of not being able to control all the new energy that she had just absorbed, after days trapped in a cell without contact with ultraviolet energy, she was trying to scream that they would not approach...
…Well.
Kori turned slowly to the group in a circle. The boy with black hair, the uniform of the same tone, but with a very bright blue design on the front, like wings, captured her attention right away. When he had tried to get close to her, without having yet drawn the sticks from his thigh, the girl swore, because of the way he moved, that the boy could fly - that would make him completely different from the other people he had seen. Of course, other people didn't wear masks on their faces, which already set him apart as hell, but Kori was thinking about the fact that everyone used their feet to walk this way and that.
So she waited.
She wanted to see him flying up to her, which floated a few inches above the ground.
But she realized, surprised, after attacking him so he wouldn't get so close, and having to avoid a warning blow with great difficulty, that he was not flying. How could he move so lightly through the air like that? How did he manage to spin that way, if he couldn't defy the gravity of his little blue planet? It almost made her take a surprise blow from a green animal that was with him, or from the creature that wore an Expansion armor, Kori remembered that the name was something like a beetle ...? She had learned of the Expansion's intentions in that system, but she didn't know that, apparently, the Justice League had managed to appropriate one of their most lethal weapons.
The fact was that this black-haired man, slightly shorter than she, with broad shoulders and a very flashy butt - it's not like she's paying close attention, okay? Her eyes had ended up there unintentionally… - he had achieved the feat of overcoming all the years of training that Kori had had in Okaara, training that made her a master in hand-to-hand combat in more than 20 different modalities, of different systems, training that told her that she shouldn't be distracted. He had managed to distract her. But, for some reason, it didn't irritate her.
She pressed her lips together, seeing how irritated he was looking at the man in black and the pointed mask. Almost everyone here used something to hide their faces, she realized. Were theyashamed? LJ's reputation was relatively good. There were those who hated them, but that was life...
Kori shook her head when the boy gestured to the man in black. The various members seemed, unconsciously, to have chosen sides; that of Green Lantern, apparently, was against her staying here for another minute. The Kryptonian side, on the other hand, seemed to be in her favor. Feeling a little more awake, the energy inside her pulsing within her stronger than ever, but with levels already under control, Koriand'r felt that she couldn't let anyone argue for her.
She approached in firm steps, keeping her head up. She still wore the tiara, her symbol that she was a princess, on her face - the Gordonians had not removed it when they took her from their planet, they were cruelly amused to see her trapped wearing her royal clothes. When she got close enough to the circle, which had almost turned into two parallel lines, theis faces turned towards her. They were numerous, but she had already spoken to larger audiences.
"I beg you, please, calm down. Growing up, I heard many stories about the greatness of the Justice League, and about your coming together to protect this system. I would hate for you to disagree because of me, even more for a reason that the Green Lantern…?" She looked at him, raising her eyebrows.
"John Stewart, Princess Koriand'r."
Hearing the title made Kori blink for a second, a little surprised. It had been several weeks since anyone had called her that; not with that respectful tone of voice, at least. Before she could articulate her continuation, the voice of the man in black, masked, hoarse and cold, spoke what several expressions thought (including the arched eyebrows of the boy who had freed her from his chains):
"Princess…?"
Kori looked at the Green Lantern, who seemed to notice his failure. He probably hadn't said that she was the princess of Tamaran, probably to avoid a bigger commotion, like the one that was happening on the faces of several of them, including the Kryptonian. The Thanagarians seemed to be taken by surprise too, but Kori had turned her eyes slightly to the boy who had saved her. He blinked twice and tried to look blasé, which almost made her laugh. Almost.
"I am Princess Koriand'r of the planet Tamaran" she said, lifting her chin a little more and projecting her voice. "I can see that John's summary was not so enlightening. Let me talk about how I came to be here, it was never my intention to hurt any earthlings or provoke any dispute." And Kori sighed, the pain of thinking about her own story, the things that hurt her, making her heart race. "Despite having an older sister, her illness made it impossible for her to be seen as a good leader for our world, so my parents chose me as their successor. My sister, Komand'r, was overcome with anger and allied herself with former adversaries, conquerors of planets, the Gordonians. They must be a race older than the light itself. They cause destruction and wars wherever they go... and my sister made an Exchange with them. They would help her deal a blow to my parents and, in return, they could enslave the rest of the royal family. The king and queen, my parents, died fighting. My brother disappeared, we believe he is dead too. The royal army fought for several nights in a row, the people, even the children..." She breathed for a moment. "Then Komand'r told me that if I gave myself up as a slave, they would save the population."
The Kryptonian crossed his arms over his chest and, with an irritated expression, looked at the black Green Lantern.
"A "political scandal", huh?"
John kept his expression hard. The redhead knew what he was thinking; Lanterns were not welcome in the Vegas System. Meddling in such matters should be avoided as much as possible. The princess continued, without looking at anyone specific:
"So I gave myself up. I think they didn't calculate the right route, or didn't count that there would be a star strong enough to pass through the walls of the nave and the closed cell in which they placed me" and now she looked at the man in blue and red "like kryptonians, we tamaraneans are strengthened by radiation. But I had never seen a source as powerful as this. It was automatic. I got the energy to atack with some soldiers and flee way. I stopped on the first planet I found."
A woman, next to Superman, as tall as Kori and with something that reminded her of a golden crown on her forehead, very similar in style to hers, took a step forward. Koriand'r felt, automatically, that she was talking to someone of royalty as well. Her eyes were blue and full of experience.
"I'm sorry for your loss, Princess Koriand'r. Now that you've managed to escape from your abductors, is your planet still at risk?"
It was impossible for Kori not to smile, such concern and kindness that the woman passed on to her. Not only did she believe every word Kori had said, but she feared for a planet she didn't even know.
"Although the Gordonians are great cruel zarbnarfs, they cherish their words in agreements, especially those involving a grand prize. My people will be fine; if I don't set foot there, the Gordonians won't come back. My sister is the queen. No one knows about her betrayal, she would be foolish if she did irresponsible acts now. My people are all very fragile after all this" she explained in a whisper. She had been thinking about it in the endless days, without nights and without mornings, inside her cell on the Gordonian ship.
The voice that followed made Koriand'r look up at the same moment. It somehow made her heart, which was beating so weakly away from home, jump a little happily. A little relieved.
"You'r saying you have nowhere to go," the boy said, his deep, enlightening tone bringing chills to the redhead girl; his lips moved too fast. For a second, Koriand'r remembered having pulled him out and conquered his language at the tip of his tongue. The eyebrows a straight line.
Kori wanted to remove that mask and look him in the eye. She wondered what color they would be. Green, like hers, although the sclerae of everyone here were white? Blacks, maybe? Brown...?
She tried not to show any weakness.
"I... I'm going to get something."
"No," he said firmly, looking at her. Suddenly, Kori realized, he moved his eyebrow, as if he had heard some noise, and a red-haired girl with short hair, and another boy who wore the Kryptonian symbol on his shirt, seemed to do the same. It was very smooth, but a good observer would notice. Then the boy sighed and turned to the others. "I can't believe we'r discussing the possibility of letting she go out into the galaxy when there is a race waiting to enslave her..."
"They are agreements from other planets, Nightwing, someone who never left Earth wouldn't understand" another Green Lantern spoke, full of pride, crossing his arms over his chest. He had short, light brown hair, the sides almost shaved. He didn't wear masks.
Nightwing, as he had called it, frowned and clenched his jaw.
"Slavery is slavery anywhere, Guy."
Kori's heart warmed when she heard that, when she felt they had the same perspectives.
"Nightwing is right," the Kryptonian said, looking crossly at the Green Lantern Guy. Then he turned to the man with the pointed mask. "Batman, it is not something that deserves discussion. Princess Koriand'r, you'r free to choose to go, but if you need a few days here to fix things, you are welcome", and it seemed like the final word. Koriand'r felt warm with the kind words.
"Wait" Batman said, turning in her direction. He was so unusually cold that Kori almost flinched. She knew a lot of serious and taciturn aliens, but this… "Koriand'r, would you mind if we read your mind? For precaution."
Kori blinked, surprised. She had heard of telepaths before, but she had never met one.
"Do earthlings have this ability...?" She murmured, a little impressed.
The short-haired red-haired girl stepped forward, a small welcoming smile on her lips.
"The earthlings don't. I'm Miss Martian."
Kori frowned. She knew very little about this system, but she could have sworn that Martians were green; this girl, however, looked as terrestrial as she could be. Even so, after taking a look at Batman's face and, quickly, at Nightwing, who was looking at her as if to say that everything was fine, that she could trust that Miss Martian, Kori shook her head positively.
"Please."
And she waited. The girl's eyes flashed and, in the next second, Koriand'r felt a nauseating headache.
"It's a little strange at first, I need you to relax and trust me"
The voice in her head, which was not hers, spoke. Koriand'r tried to relax. Very fast, like a painting in too fast movements, she found herself tiny, then a teenager, Komand'r killing one of the palace pets, her first kiss, Okaara, the exhausting days of training, the day when Koma almost killed her, his prayers for X'hal, the first night with a man, the pranks with Ryand'r, the news that she would be the new successor, herfear and sadness at the news, the Koma revolt, the invasion, the death of her parents and the shattering of their bodies right in front of her, Komand'r humiliating her, her surrender to the Gordonians, the torture in the cells... the torture in the cells...
Koriand'r's eyes filled with tears, and, in that moment, everything disappeared. She was back at the Watchtower. In front of her, Miss Martian looked at her with pity.
"I'm so sorry," she murmured, in a voice that said she really was, and then looked at Batman. "She didn't lie about anything."
This tin man, apparently called the Red Tornado, was adding her identity to what he called the "Zeta Tube", apparently they were using it to get out of the Watchtower and go to Earth. Koriand'r countered that he could just fly, in what Tornado Vermelho told her it wouldn't be a practical idea. Kori, who was already a little tired after such a busy day, just agreed. When she was finished, the robot told her that she was free to visit the Watchtower.
For the first time, Koriand'r turned and found herself alone in the huge hall. It seemed that there was no one left but the Red Tornado to accompany her; on one hand, it was cool because apparently they trusted her now. On the other hand, she was so lost, and the robot was not exactly the best at expressing emotions ... When she was about to turn asking for help, she saw that someone was already coming towards her.
The Tamaranian swallowed, feeling happy, but at the same time a little silly, that it was him. A step away from her, who had crossed her hands in front of her body, Nightwing frowned and said, with a slight singing smile:
"Hm… Should I call you Princess Koriand'r, princess?"
She blushed just a little, shaking her head negatively, a beautiful smile on her face.
"No, please, don't. You can just call me Koriand'r. Kori, I prefer."
"Kori, alright," he replied, saiyng the "i" a little too much, but the tamaranean didn't care. In his voice, it had become interesting. Very interesting. "I don't know what it must be like for you, all this mes..."
"I have to apologize to you," she interrupted him sincerely; she had wanted to say that all afternoon. Nightwing raised an eyebrow, looking confused. Kori wished, this time stronger, to be able to see his eyes. His confusion, however, gave way to a small singing smile.
"There is no reason to apologize, quite the opposite ..."
"No. I attacked your team very brutally, I could have seriously hurt one of you, and you just wanted to help me. Sorry." Kori included, quickly, because she did think it was a good reason.
Nightwing frowned; she saw, suddenly, that a little color took on his pale cheeks.
"Oh. You're talking about the battle..."
Kori narrowed her eyes, not understanding.
"Yes, I am. What else would I been talking about...?"
"No, nothing, nothing, sorry" and he coughed, looking to the side while his free hand scratched the back of his neck. It was almost funny to see him embarrassed, but Koriand'r tried hard not to smile too much. "I... I came to invite you. You can stay in the Watchtower if you want, of course, we have many rooms here, but LJ is very busy today and you'd be alone. If you want, you can come with me..." - He coughed, making Kori smile a little more. "With us, I mean. You can come with us." And, with his head, he pointed to a small group, much younger than the Justice League, who smiled and made expressions among themselves, but said nothing.
Were they talking through the mind...? Considering that Miss Martian was there, most likely.
Kori looked at him again.
"I'd be happy to go with you." And she coughed fakely, imitating him, which made Nightwing raise an eyebrow and laugh in the corner. "With you guys" Before they turned around, however, Kori continued: "Ah, I also want to apologize for the lip contact not allowed."
Nightwing frowned.
"Lip contact no allo..." He repeated, until he realized. Then the smile came back to his shine face. "Ah. The kiss."
"Yes, the kiss. Sorry. I usually ask before, of course, but I needed to absorb the language soon or you would never understand me..."
Nightwing blinked, turned his head, seemed to think about it for several seconds.
"Hm... Did you kiss me to absorb our language...?"
Suddenly, Kori heard several giggles in the group, as if they had just heard the confused and even slightly disappointed voice from their friend. She wondered if they had listened and how…? His cheeks flushed a little more, but he didn't look at his friends.
"Yes, why else?"
He opened his mouth, closed it, thought for a second, opened his mouth again, and then shook his head. Kori followed everything very delighted with his reactions. Tamaraneans were very direct. If there was anything to be said, they would say.
But this guy with the kindest and most beautiful smile she had ever seen, on the other hand, seemed to have one step ahead of her and one step behind, if that makes sense.
"No, nothing. Nothing. What a… uh… interesting skill."
"Thanks. I already know more than 500 languages around the universe."
And then he choked. Kori almost hit him on the back, but a few seconds later, Nightwing seemed to catch his breath. Half red from shortness of breath, he said:
"W-Wow. Wow. There were many… lip contacts…"
"Yes, some," she agreed, smiling. It wasn't difficult to notice, even with the mask he wore, that his gaze lingered on her mouth a little longer. "But I'll tell you a secret:" and, putting her hand in front of her mouth, as if for no one to hear, although there was no one close enough for that, Kori continued, feeling wonderfully happy and well, for the first time in weeks, close to this man: "...yours was my favorite."
If you show me you're down maybe I'll stick around
This could be something that's special for us
Don't really know what you do to me
But take that next step boy it's cool with me
Cool with me
