Hello, everyone!
My apologies for stopping the previous version. I was still unsatisfied with what I made and decided to rewrite it one final time (Just one of those times when you think something's done, but it isn't). This story is going to be revised and edited over the course of its completion.
In any case, this story still features David, but he won't be in the form I mentioned before anymore. Now, his final name is David Johnson-Ward, and he is known as the last member of the Ward Clan Of Sorcery.
As for the story itself (like before), this will involve MANY different franchises from MANY different mediums, ranging from books, to movies, to TV shows, to video games, to stage shows...
STILL SO MANY DIFFERENT FRANCHISES IN ONE STORY!
Because this is such a big story, I am going to split it into different "Story Arcs," or "Arcs" for short. HOWEVER, just so you're aware, all these Arcs will be combined into ONE STORY. I will, nevertheless, be specifying when an Arc begins and ends using this method:
If an arc is about to begin, there will be text saying "BEGIN [name of arc goes here] ARC" at the start of the chapter where said arc begins. If an arc is about to end, I will indicate it with "END [name of arc goes here] ARC" at the end of the final chapter in the arc. There will also be one-off stories featuring these characters between each Arc.
Also, this story is going to feature a lot of deep (and I mean DEEP) topics, hence the reason I've decided to place an "M" rating on this story. But let me assure you: THERE WILL BE NO EXPLICITLY SEXUAL CONTENT OR EXCESSIVE BLOOD AND GORE. BEFORE ANYONE JUMPS ON ME FOR THIS ISSUE.
Oh, and something VERY important: this story will be revolving around a brand-new, GIANT multiverse in which all these franchises take place. Because this is the Multiverse, there are characters who may be completely different people and have completely different personalities in almost every Universe. There will be characters who are hated and psychopathic in one Universe, but loved and pure-hearted in another (i.e. Batman of the main DC Universe is a heroic vigilante, while the Batman Who Laughs from DC Comics' "Earth -22" is a psychopathic killer). This means that characters who I typically hate in their specific Universe are completely different in another Universe, which is what will be introduced in one of the chapters in the story.
Furthermore, the central antagonist has changed. The Inter-Universal Organization modeled after the one from "Danganronpa" will still be featured, but they will serve more as a Semi-Main Antagonist, which will be explained upon further later on in the story. Along with many other characters in this story, this version of the organization is capable of "Universe-Hopping," which they used to their advantage to take over a significant portion of the Multiverse. David's overall mission in this entire story is simple on paper, but almost IMPOSSIBLE in context: Restore the Perfect Balance of Hope and Despair in the Multiverse and prevent it from becoming severely imbalanced again.
One more thing: this is a work of fiction, and is not meant to offend or insult anyone who reads it. Names, events, places, and themes are the product of my imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
Now, with that out of the way, the first Arc will be the "Origin Arc," which details the background of the multiverse in this story, along with David's background. Again, this entire story will be deep, so be ready for some emotional moments.
With that said, I hope you all enjoy the first chapter of my revised biggest story project in my entire life, both figuratively and literally: "Spark of Hope: The Great War of Despair."
Long before any universe ever came to be, there existed many powerful, god-like beings: the Ultimates.
These Ultimates existed in a world that would never be discovered for trillions of years. The most powerful of their kind were the ones who kept balance across existence. These Ultimates were complete opposites of each other, but a perfect balance could still be achieved between the two.
They were known... as Ultimate Hope and Ultimate Despair.
The Ultimate Hope sought to protect the people from greed and corruption, similar to the mythical Christian God of our universe today. The Ultimate Despair, on the other hand, sought to create chaos and suffering for personal pleasure. These two Ultimates kept each other at bay, keeping a perfect balance between both of them.
Things would come to a head as they fought war after war, and one of their clashes created something that we would simply refer to as "The Big Bang."
The Big Bang created our entire Universe, as the theory goes. However, something the theory failed to recognize is that the Big Bang didn't just create our Universe; it created an infinite Multiverse that would eventually be alternatively dubbed eons later as "All Time and Space."
The Ultimates caused the Big Bang with their clashes in the many wars waged, eventually leading to the transformation of almost all the Ultimates into entire Universes, later separated by number classification codes.
Only the Ultimate Hope and Ultimate Despair had avoided turning themselves into Universes, but at a cost: their bodies faded away into existence, with only their spirits remaining. This led to them indirectly keeping balance within the Multiverse for centuries to come.
However, a legend spoke that the Ultimate Despair would become an influence on serial killers, psychopaths, and the like over billions of years. The Ultimate Hope would not be able to overcome this influence alone; it would need assistance from many citizens of the Multiverse united to stop it.
To help achieve that task, a group of powerful magic-wielding warriors founded what would later be known as the "Heroes Of Hope" during the medieval age of Earth-2048. The Heroes Of Hope would go on to create a new method of tracking down the Ultimate Despair forces and recruiting allies for the cause: Universe-Hopping.
Universe-Hopping is a basic technique all magic wielders of Earth-2048, along with a select few others, can achieve. And by traveling between universes with this method, there would be no lasting damage to the Multiverse caused by traveling to alternate Universes. With Universe-Hopping, many things would be solved with no lasting consequences.
Unfortunately, the Ultimate Despair-influenced beings would learn about Universe-Hopping too, which would make them even deadlier than ever before. They seemed unstoppable with their newest technique.
Luckily, two beings would eventually stop the Ultimate Despair's influence and restore balance to the entire Multiverse.
They just hadn't realized it until several years after the two met each other.
SEVENTEEN YEARS BEFORE PRESENT DAY, EARTH-2048
A woman with a year-old infant in her arms and wrapped in a blanket was running in fear from an army of shadow-like soldiers. Almost everyone in her family was destroyed, with only a few survivors escaping.
Eventually, she reached the rendezvous point, where an invisible shield protected others and made them invisible to the dark soldiers. She handed the infant to one of the people inside, along with a sealed envelope.
"Take him and this letter to our family friends on Earth-16384, quick!" she panickily exclaimed, "He'll be safer with them! I'm going to draw these monsters away from this place! Take a spell book with you and give it to them too!"
She then took a wooden toy, wrapped it around another blanket and left the point, making a decoy for the soldiers and allowing her son to escape alive.
Suddenly, a dark explosion occurred, knocking down the woman. The dark soldiers had caught up with her and were prepared to fire on the defenseless woman.
She revealed the decoy and declared, "You will NEVER find him. He is away from your grasp, and even if you did manage to locate him, you wouldn't ever get to him!"
The soldiers then fired on her and silenced her for good.
SAME DAY, EARTH-8192
A family in the United States wakes up to a knock on the door one morning to find a child on their front doorstep. Next to the child was a spell book and a sealed letter detailing the situation and instructions for the child's new caregivers, who were close family friends with the child's birth parents. The letter read:
To our good friends on Earth-8192,
If you're reading this letter, that means we can
no longer safely guard our son, David, from the
Ultimate Despair. This is why we're leaving him
in your care from now on.
He is currently a year old right now. When he
turns eighteen, he will become a legal adult in
your area. However, he has a job to finish for us.
We want you to show him this letter and the spell
book when he starts middle school. He will be
capable of learning magic by then, so it is best for
him to prepare for the battles ahead before he
turns eighteen.
As you give him the book, tell him about our
history, tell him what happened to us, and
tell him the role he is to play in our place when
he turns eighteen. Only then will he be ready
to face the dangers in the Multiverse head-on.
Help him achieve what we couldn't. In the name
of Ultimate Hope, help him finish what we started.
From the Ward Clan of Sorcery
Pretty much déjà vu right now, but it will be changing in the next chapter, trust me.
Reviews are appreciated!
EDIT: I'm providing a "Multiverse Guideline" so you guys can follow along with whichever Universe is involved in each chapter. I will be updating the guideline with new Universes as the story progresses so you can follow along. Newly discovered Universes will be in bold.
