A/N: Hello folks! This my first KaneSal lemon, NOT lime mind you guys. This is my first KaneSal lemon. This is LEMON, not lime. This is my first attempt so no flames. I would have reflected almost eighty-percent (not sure if hundred) of the love for my beloved OTP within the next chapter. And, I've been inspired by Misty, Simy and Annie to write this stuff xD (Err I started writing this fic a long time ago and I unfortunately left the site afterwards).
The warrior's wife~
Chapter - 01
The yellow spot reflected is divine golden rays on the beautiful forest of Japan. Squirrels came out from the tree holes, butterflies were devouring honey from bright flowers, Sakuras were fluttering in the morning breeze along the twigs. People from different households came out after the approaching dawn. Men were set off to their stables and women went to collect grass and fodder. Children were out to playing with marbles and women were carrying earthen pots. The younger women were chattering, gossiping and chortling to almost every remark made by each other. But, among them there was an elegant lady with black diamonds fixed on her eye sockets. Beautiful, unbound scarlet hair fluttered with the flirting breeze in euphoria but the soul was just glum in contradiction. Beautiful matured crepe-pink lips, hour-glass figure just like how it should be for the wife of a warrior. It was bound by a dull, lavender Kimono having silver chintz patterns with a tight burgundy belt highlighting her figure, not forgetting her curved hip.
"Mrs. Yamashita, what happened to your hair? You didn't comb it well." one of the women remarked.
"Hmm… Yes, I didn't."
"Why, what happened?"
"Hey Kumi, don't you know that she is worried about her husband? He hasn't returned from the battlefield and none of the messengers bought any news for months," another interfered. Salima didn't pay any attention to their words, but secretly kept mourning to herself.
Kumi said, "I understand. You don't worry about the chief-in-commander, he'll return back soon."
"But what if he is dead in the battlefield Kumi?" Salima asked with a worried scowl planted on her face.
"He wouldn't be Salima. He will be safe and sound."
"What's with the bickering?" a random woman asked as she entered with an earthen pot.
"Lady Yamashita is worried about her husband. We haven't gotten any news regarding the war, Kyomi."
"Kumi, it's natural for a warrior's wife to get anxious in the midst of a war. If Japan had lost the battle, we would've been under to control of our enemies but we are safe and sound. It means that Japan is safe."
"It has been months since Lady Yamashita has seen her husband."
"You're right Kumi, it has been a year since we spent good time with each other. We are married for a year. After five days of being wedded, he went for a wage war and it lasted for two months. Then he had been leading the soldiers against enemy troops or rogue ninjas. Then he had to fight against that Boris with the allied nations and defeat him. Finally, this Gideon… In twelve months," she tearfully said.
"Salima, stop crying!" Kyomi consoled as she wiped the scarlet's tears.
"I never spoke to him… properly. The night after our wedding was when we spoke to each othe and spent some time, but afterwards…"
"Don't worry Salima, your husband will come back. He is very strong, you know that right?"
Salima nodded her head and smiled weakly. After filling the earthen pot with some water a few inches below the rim, she walked back to her house. It was made out of wood and was located almost towards the threshold of the forest. It had a ground floor and a first floor. The house was comparatively bigger when compared to others, and the interior was garnished well with curtains, vases and other draperies used for furniture with a beautiful garden beside it. There was a big bath tub made out of wood present in a separate chamber. A normal splendid house, but for the wife of the warrior, it's a castle. But, the castle is doomed due to the absence of her husband.
Heaving a sigh, she entered her room after taking a fresh bath. She was simply dressed in her lavender kimono and rubbing her wet hair with a towel. Her hearing perception caught a familiar voice and a stallion neighing.
'I am glad that we have won the war. Salima must be waiting for me.'
A smile planted her face and her heart fluttered in happiness 'It's Anata's voice and the sound of our horse neighing! It must be him! He returned from the war! It means we won the war!'
Unable to control the heaps of happiness, she immediately went to the main door but before pulling down the handle, a random thought struck her.
'Oops, I am not dressed fully! I haven't tied my robe completely and it will take a lot of time to do this! But, Anata is waiting for me. What shall I do now?'
"Salima, open the door I am back."
Salima shivered a bit but couldn't help opening the door. She bought a bigger towel and wrapped it around herself.
"Tsuma, are you there?"
The scarlet woman gulped and moved the handle along its pivot and hid behind the door as soon as she opened it. 'She's missing, then how did the door open?'
He heard someone gasp and the source was right behind the opened door. The amused warrior peeped in and saw his wife hiding behind it.
"Anata!" she gasped.
"Why are you hiding here?"
"I-I-I-I…" the scarlet stammered. Kane closed the door and had a glimpse of her figure.
"I see, took a bath huh? Sorry for interrupting you. By the way, we won the war."
"It's okay, and I know. I mean, if you are returning home with no signs of fear….." Salima paused.
Her body turned cerise from head to toe. The warrior entered the house and headed to their room. However, forgetting her embarrassment, Salima felt relieved. Finally, he made it home. Now since Boris and Gideon have been defeated, there wouldn't be any problem with other allied nations in the world, so Salima can spend more time with her husband. Sometimes, his presence made her really amused, denoting the amount of time she barely gets to spend with him. Now that he has come back, she can spend some good time with him without interruptions, which means that she could be with him as much as she could before he could go off to another duty. She went to their room and saw her husband taking out all his weapons from the bag: Kunai knives, Shurikens, Senbons, Kusangi, Kusarigama, spades, bows and arrows and so on. They were endless in number. He has indeed mastered the usage of all ninja weapons. Even the Emperor couldn't do it, but he is excellent with the weapons he is comfortable with.
"Anata?"
"Yes Salima?"
"You must be tired now, right? Why can't you have a bath? I will go and prepare the water for you."
"Why are you straining yourself Salima?"
"What's with that? You must be so tired. You need to rest. Let me do that."
The warrior chuckled and said, "I missed this place a lot, Salima. Let me relive my moments my doing a few of these chores."
Salima gave an affectionate smile and nodded her head in approval. The blunette went to the bathing chamber and prepared the water. Meanwhile, Salima was wearing the belt but unexpectedly, she struggled. Yes, the presence of her husband distracted her. She was still drawn into the euphoria. She tried again, but since the final knot failed, it failed the entire process. Kane approached her.
"Want me to help?"
Salima blushed and panted. 'Lately, I have been feeling so weird around him. Is it because of the happiness?'
Salima gulped and said, "I will take care of this-"
Kane didn't let her though. His hand grasped the tie. She unwillingly nodded.
'My bad, he saw me when I wasn't dressed perfectly, and now he is dressing me up!'
Since the height difference between them was huge, say over 20 cm, he kneeled down to reach her waist level. Salima was bearing the amount of shyness in her and she was turning red by every second. He kept surmounting the lengthy ribbon around her waist gently, ensuring that she shouldn't feel uncomfortable, however that wasn't the case. Her heart fluttered the moment he touched her waist to tighten the belt. She looked blank.
"Salima, do you have any problem? Are you able to breath? Is it too tight?"
Salima returned back to her senses and said, "No, no Anata. I am good. Thank you very much." She smiled nervously. Kane went close to her to just check if she was alright. Salima's eyes widened immediately.
"Are you feeling sick?" he asked as he touched her forehead.
"No! I am fine!" Salima exclaimed. Kane nodded and said, "Well, I am going to the chamber."
After Kane left the room, Salima heaved a sigh out.
"Oh Kami, is it because of the scorching rays that I am behaving very weird with my husband who has come home after a long time?"
However, ignoring the perplexed thoughts as if they were irrelevant, Salima continued to groom herself. She was a normal civilian, but has been highly educated because her father had a good status in the society. She learnt a few skills in warfare so she does have some experience in combats. However, she had never fought someone like an Emperor or a person with a noble status; she has experience in fighting some low key thugs and robbers, maybe a few notable soldiers and chiefs. Meanwhile, her husband has fought foes on a larger scale like Emperors, Princes and other chiefs.
Japan had so many kingdoms. She was a citizen of Kingdom Nikko, meanwhile her husband was born and bought up in Kanto, where they both have been married and resided. Their marriage was arranged, but she developed feelings for him as days went on. It was unconditional, but is there anything wrong in that? He is her husband after all. They were separated from each other, but that made her value their relationship. For all these days, she felt like she has been connected to him through a longer distance. She can't blame him because he is the chief-in-commander of Kanto, so he had to perform his duties. But, did he perform the duties of a husband? That thought struck her mind.
Around twenty minutes later, the warrior returned from the bathing chamber. He wore his short ponytail with a wooden clutch. He was dressed in his normal takama Shinobi attire, consisting of navy-blue, light blue and white shades. His long bangs from left side his left eye a bit, but it beautifully ended past his cheek. Salima noticed Kane stepping out and smiled immediately. She was preparing the morning meal in the kitchen. As usual, she groomed herself well but much she looked prettier than she ever used to be. Her hair was tied into a bun, a small bun-band clutched on top of it with two tresses touching her temples on either side. Lavender Kimono highlighted her figure. Crepe lips were coated with red chemical cherry extract, kohl and eyeliner emphasized her eyes and a few jewels made out of wood and simple stones garnished her. However, she was mildly sweating due to the heat evolved from the stove. Sweat drops trickled from her forehead and she panted for a while.
She prepared some rice, bamboo shoots, fish broth and sukiyaki. She arranged the dishes on two platters with two pairs of chopsticks, sparing the Sukiyaki which was placed in a separate wooden bowl. She arranged the dishes in the hall and waited for her husband.
"Anata, I have prepared our morning meal."
"I am coming in a few minutes, Salima."
Salima heaved a sigh. She lost some patience. Having a meal with her husband is like finding seeing the red moon.
'Can't help it Salima, you are bound to live a life like that,' she thought to herself.
'But, does Anata like me? Does he love me?' she sadly thought. She really can't bear their one-sided relationship, which is going on for a year. She is craving for her love to be requited. She does know that an honored man like her husband won't fall for any other woman. She is aware of that fact, so if he had to love a woman, it can't be any other woman apart from his own wife. Soon, Kane joined his wife for the meal. More than the aroma from the food, he could sense the scent of his wife. The same scent before he entered the bathing chamber. Yeah, she had taken a bath before he entered the house. He sensed it, yet it was pleasing to his nostrils.
He looked at his wife, whose eyes were wearied and tired looking. He took some time to just look at her, who was preparing the flame for Sukiyaki. He immediately knelt down and helped her. She paused for a while and turned to her husband who was helping her in arranging the flame. Her eyes widened as she looked at him. Kane turned to her and asked, "What happened to you Salima?" Salima shriveled and rolled her eyes. "Oh, I am really sorry Anata. Let me do this-"
"No Tsuma. I will take care. I did tell you that I miss doing household chores. I missed our home a lot, Salima, so kindly let me do this. You are almost exhausted. Please rest."
Salima sat on her place, letting Kane to do all the work. However, she was perturbed about that, but indeed; it's obvious that he cares for her. She is at least happy that he has a great concern for her. Looking at him working with the flame, she planted a weak smile. Finally, the arrangements for Sukiyaki were ready. Kane devoured the dishes and felt dreamy for a while.
'They are really good. I haven't tasted my wife's food for these days. I missed them a lot.'
"Anata, are you okay?"
"I am fine Salima. You have cooked excellently well. I love them so much," Kane remarked in a gentle tone. Salima's cheeks turned cerise as she bent down, twiddling her hands as she smiled. Kane was amused as he chuckled at her for a while.
'He cares a lot for me, but is he in love with me?'
There were no signs of discomfort on Kane's face. He was merely enjoying the food prepared by her and it was evident that he missed her cooking for a long period of time. Salima was elated to see her husband asking more of the food.
Immediately after they both finished the meal, Salima interfered, "Anata, um, just a request."
"Yes?"
"Can you, hmm… teach me some skills in, warfare if you don't mind?"
Kane heaved a sigh and said, "I have been using a lot of weapons throughout these months, Salima. Let me rest."
She said, "But you are the chief-in-commander for Kanto. So you will be using weapons anyways!"
"But give me a break from them for today, Salima."
Salima sighed and the happiness in her face vanished. She immediately gathered all the vessels and placed them in the kitchen. Kane felt slightly guilty for refusing to teach a few skills in warfare. But, shockingly, he saw his wife walking straight to their room instead of washing those vessels. She locked the door, which left him shocked.
"Hey Salima, what are you doing inside? I will teach you some combat skills today! Don't get frustrated Salima. I am sorry."
There was no response. He sighed and asked again, "Salima, please listen to me, I will teach you some close-combat skills."
No response again. Kane sulked. Suddenly, he heard the hinge of the door creaking. He saw Salima dressed in the attire of a Kunoichi's, a black Kaede outfit with a meshed in-shirt. Long cotton gloves ended up to her arms with silver wristlets and armlets clutching the respective spots. Her bun was tied higher with no bangs falling on her face. She prepared a bow and a few arrows along with a Kusangi sword. Kane sighed in relief.
"Please don't scare me like this, Salima. I will wash the utensils, you go and practice. I will come to you soon."
"I am extremely sorry for that, Anata."
He nodded his head in assurance and said, "Don't worry about that, I am just fine. I was just a little scared, nothing else."
Salima went to the training ground, which was located beside the bathing chamber. She was honing her skills in precision and accuracy, by shooting arrows towards the target. Her husband holds a record for hundred-percent marksmanship and has surpassed every warrior not only in Kanto, in so many other territories of Japan too. He is able to hit a hundred marks in hundred tries. He barely misses his mark and due to the perfect skills, he has been a good assassinator. This was a milestone in his career. Salima felt proud of her husband and that became a driving force for her to develop her skills too. One of the sole reasons why Kanto has been protected and feared was her husband. She is married to that man. Wouldn't she feel proud of that? His proud and valor is spreading in and across Japan. She just can't believe that she is the wife of such a warrior.
Planting a smile, she pulled out another arrow and unfortunately, she missed the mark.
"There is still a possibility that you could get it right."
Salima turned back after hearing the familiar voice. It was Kane, who had his hands tied and back leant against the wall.
"Try again, you will get it. Don't lose hope."
Salima nodded her head and proceeded. Again, she missed the mark. She tried again and again, but she failed each and every time.
"Where are you exactly trying to aim, to the heart or to the neck?"
"I am trying to aim the heart, my lord."
"Hmm…." Kane took the bow and an arrow. His projectile gave a perfect mark, right at the heart of the target. Salima was impressed by his skills.
"You try."
Kane lent the bow to her. Salima took another arrow and now, the mark was very close.
"You are getting it. Go ahead."
Salima was about to shoot but her hand slipped out, letting the arrow at some random place. She sulked.
"Wait, I will guide you."
Salima turned to her husband and nodded. She pulled out another arrow and set that in position. Kane held the bow and the arrow along with her. Salima felt euphoric. She felt her husband's figure covering her body from back. She slightly turned back to see her husband's eye fixated on the target, the other eye shut. He was taller than her, but he did adjust the projectile according to her height.
"Now it's perfect."
"Are you sure, because, I am shorter than you."
"I am sure of it. Just look at the target. Don't worry about me."
They both released the arrow, and that landed on the mark perfectly. Salima was impressed again. She turned her head to her husband, who was smiling at her.
Salima tried one by herself and there the mark was perfect.
"See? You did it this time, Salima. Wonderful job," he acknowledged and patter her shoulders.
She nodded her head in assurance. Suddenly, while trying to walk away from him, she tripped but thankfully, he caught her waist.
"Careful!"
He slowly released her and made her stand straight. Salima panted for a while, and her face was completely beet.
"Thank you very much, A-A-Anata," she stammered.
"No problem, but do be careful."
For an hour, they practiced some Kenjutsu. The sound of their swords dominated the atmosphere for throughout the hour.
After the session, they decided to rest for a while. They had the afternoon meal, did some chores and fed the horses. Salima was braiding the hair of a random girl who came from another household. She did this to girls and gave food for children too. Indeed, she and her husband were comparatively wealthier than the other families, but they had the soft spots to help others. They utilized the privilege in the best manner.
The afternoon breeze was unexpectedly soothing but unfortunately, Salima got a headache. She gets them due to heavy heat rays. Thus, she was lying on the bed. Kane gave her some medicines before he was writing something on his scroll with the blank ink.
"Are you okay, Salima?"
"I am fine. I just need to rest a bit."
"Mm, take good rest. You are looking so toiled, Salima. I guess I should so some chores for a few weeks."
Salima gently shut her eyelids. Kane smiled, closely followed by a chuckle.
'I'd never really thought that I will marry a woman like you, Salima.'
"Lord Yamashita!"
Salima woke up before going into a deep slumber. Kane got up from his place and went to the main door. A messenger soldier was waiting outside with a scroll.
"You have been called by the Emperor. He had to talk about a serious issue to you."
Kane was shocked for a moment. Salima wasn't less shocked either, indeed more. 'Oh no, is it another war?'
"Salima, please wait for me till I return back. I have been asked to meet the Emperor," Kane said in a hurry as he was prepared to go to the dome.
She nodded her head in approval.
"How long would it take, Anata?"
"I am not sure about that, I have no time to talk those things to you right now. You take care."
"My lady, this talk can take some time. Kindly wait," the soldier said.
She couldn't help but see her husband going back to duty again. How sad.
A/N: Well, how was the first chapter? Any guesses on how the "Lemon" would happen? ;D
Guys, I guess you all might be unfamiliar with a few words here. "Anata" means dear in Japanese, "Tsuma" means wife, but its used to call your wife in an affectionate manner.
But stay tuned to the fic! However, do tell me how this chapter was. Well, there were assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and I was waiting for the results with my family and got a little caught up with that (otherwise I could have published the fic a little earlier) xD
Thanks for reading!
~Whatever you call me (lmao).
