This is my first story, so any constructive criticism would be super helpful!
What would have happened if Katara had used the water with special healing abilities for Zuko's scar? Aang and the Avatar State would have ceased to exist. The last of the air nomads would have been lost by the Fire Nation, once again.
What would happen, next? What would be the Gaang's next move?

After the corruption and disloyalty of Long Feng, the Earth King's most loyal attendant, had come into the light, thanks to the Gaang, King Kuei ordered the Dai Li to arrest him immediately; in which the Dai Li had hesitantly done so. The two Dai Li guards cuffed Long Feng in chains and pulled him back. Long feng exclaims, "You can't arrest me! You all need me more than you know!" Sokka sarcastically shouts in response, "Looks like Long Feng is Long gone!" he then chuckles loudly at himself, "Ah yeah. I've been waiting to use that one." Aang smiles at him and Katara gives him an unimpressed look.
Later in the Earth Kingdom Royal Palace…
The Gaang stands before a distraught King Kuei, and his beloved Bosco. He stressfully rubs his temples, as he learns the horrible truth of reality the walls around him had kept him from seeing. "We are at war with The Fire Nation..." Sokka then speaks up, "That's why we came to Ba Sing Se, your Highness." The Earth King looks at him curiously before Sokka continues, "Because we believe you could help us end the war."
Aang urgently exclaims, "We don't have much time. There's a comet coming this summer; it's energy will give the fire benders unbelievable strength. They'll be unstoppable." Sokka steps forward continuing, "But there is hope. Before the comet comes, we have a window of opportunity: A solar eclipse is coming. The sun will be completely blocked out by the moon, and the firebenders will be helpless."
King Kuei questioningly squints his eyes before saying, "What are you suggesting, Sokka?" Sokka looks confidently into King Kuei's eyes and says,
"That's the day we need to invade the fire nation… The Day of Black Sun."
The Earth King was taken aback as he responds tryingly, "I don't know. That would require moving troops out of Ba Sing Se. We'd be completely vulnerable." Sokka rebuttals, "You're already vulnerable. The Fire Nation won't stop until Ba Sing Se falls. You can either sit back and wait for that to happen, or take the offensive and give yourself a fighting chance." The Earth King anxiously ponders on this for a moment…
Finally breaking the silence with his approval of support.
With this, the Gaang rejoiced excitedly. Soon after, General How, the Leader of the Council of Five, entered the room. "Your Majesty, I apologize for the interruption. We searched Long Feng's office. I think we found something that will interest everybody."
Later in Long Feng's office..
"There are secret files on everyone in Ba Sing Se." General How then places the container in front of everybody and continues, "Including you, kids." He then hands out these scrolls to each member. Katara took Toph's and exclaimed, "It's a letter from your mom… She's here in the city… and she wants to see you!" Toph then slightly smiles, before appallingly exclaiming, "Long Feng intercepted our letters from home? That's just sad."
"Aang, this scroll was attached to the horn of your bison when the Dai Li captured him." Aang curiously began reading the scroll, "I-It's from the Eastern Air Temple.." He smiles widely. Katara hopefully inquired, "Is there a letter for me and Sokka, by any chance?" After a few moments of looking through the files, the King looks up disappointedly and responds, "I'm afraid not.." She and Sokka slumps and sadly mumbles, "oh".. "But there is an interference report that might interest you." General How then passes them the scroll. Katara begins reading off the contexts of the scroll. "A small fleet of Water Tribe ships?.." Sokka exclaims, "What? That could be dad!" Katara continues, "Protecting The Mouth of Chameleon Bay?.. Led by Hakoda, it IS dad!"
Later in their home…
The Gaang is gathered around one another, talking about the information they all had just received..
"I can't believe there is a man living at The Southern Air Temple, He says he's a guru!" Sokka then asks "What's a 'guru'? Some kind of poisonous blowfish?" making fish faces. Aang laughs slightly and responds, "No. A spiritual expert. He wants to help me take the next step in my Avatar journey; he says he can teach me to control the Avatar State!"
Katara then exclaims, "And I can't believe we know where our dad is now." Toph then adds, "I know what you mean.. My mom's in the city; and from her letter, it sounds like she finally understands me." "This is all such big news! Where do we even start?" Katara looks down and says, "I hate to say it but… We have to split up." Aang shockingly says, "Split up? We just found Appa and got the family back together. Now you want us to separate?!" Katara looks up to him, "You have to meet this Guru, Aang. If we're going to invade The Fire Nation, you need to be ready."
Aang looks down pondering on this, before smiling, responding, "Well.. if I'm going to The Eastern Air Temple, Appa and I can drop you off at Chameleon Bay to see your dad!" Sokka adds, "Someone has to stay here with the Earth King and help him plan for The Invasion.." Sokka stands up continuing, "I guess that's me." Katara stands up saying, "No, Sokka, I know how badly you want to help dad. You go to Chameleon Bay, I'll stay here with The King." Sokka tears up and dances over to her, "You are the nicest.. sister.. EVER!" and wraps his arms around her head and gives her a big smooch on the cheek. "Eeeasy there, big brother.." Before teasingly adding,
"Though you're right, I am."
"So it's decided. Tomorrow morning, we'll get all our things ready to go our separate ways!" Sokka exclaims excitedly. Aang slightly frowns hearing this, and looks to the floor. Why did he need to word it like that? Katara notices and says, "It's not for forever, Aang. The Gaang will be back together in no time." Aang looks up and shoots her a warm smile. "Together in no time." he repeats over in his head. That's the type of wording I needed to hear.
The following day…
Aang, as usual, wakes up before everyone else. He rubbed the sleepiness from his eyes. As soon as he finished his yawning and stretching, his gut dropped at the thought of what the events today held. He lets out a sigh, this won't be for long. He positively reminded himself. Soon after, he heard the rest of the Gaang waking up. Soon they all met in the main room.
As Aang walked out, he noticed everyone had already eaten breakfast, and gotten half of their things ready to go. Sokka notices Aang and exclaims, "Great you're awake! We're about to go over some details of The Invasion with some of the top Generals and The Earth King." Aang says, "Okay, I'll get Appa ready!"
At The Palace, The Gaang finish up their meeting with the Generals. They make their way over to Appa. Sokka exclaims excitedly, "Man I'm glad that's over. I can't wait to see dad!" Katara smiles warmly at him. I'm glad he's going to be with dad, it's what he's wanted for so long. Toph then says, "I know what you mean. Well, not about seeing your dad, and all," She then turns her head towards him, waving her hand over her eyes. Sokka and Katara chokes back a laugh. Then continued, "But meeting with your parent after so much time has passed.. It's exciting, yet so nerve wracking." Katara responds, "Don't be nervous, Toph. Your mom loves you, and is reaching out to you. You have nothing to worry about.. Just be yourself." Toph slightly smiles, "Thanks, Katara." then punches her arm. Katara exclaims, "Ow! What was that for?" Toph shrugs and says, "hey, you know that's how I show affection."
Sokka and Toph were saying their goodbyes to the Earth King, Aang noticed Katara, who had been giving Appa farewell lovins, and he thought to himself, just walk over there and tell her how you feel. If she doesn't feel the same way, maybe she'll forget about it by the time we see each other again.. He began to push the negative thoughts from his head. He began to approach her and called out her name, "Katara, I need to tell you something…" She looked up curiously to see Aang in front of her. As their eyes met, he blushed and looked to the ground, continuing, "I've been wanting to say it for a long time…" Katara tilts her head and smiles, "What is it, Aang?" Feeling flustered and on the spot, throws his arm to the back of his head and said, "Katara… I-"
Then Sokka runs over to them and puts Aang in a playful choke hold, shouting, "All riiight! Who's ready to get goin' on a little men-only, man trip?!" Katara then shoots him a derpy look. The Earth King interrupts saying, "Aang and Sokka, I wish you a good journey." Sokka, still holding Aang in the choke hold, turns around; both wearing a dumbfounded look. "Ba Sing Se owes you it's thanks," he continued, "and we look forward to your safe return." Sokka and Aang straightened up and wore a big grin on their faces.
The Earth King and his guards began back to the Palace, and Sokka and Aang went to get on Appa to begin their 'men's only field trip', when Katara stopped Aang in his tracks, "Wait, Aang!" He turns around to face her. Before he realizes it, she wrapped her arms around him, and gave him a farewell peck on the cheek. He blushes in response, wearing a slight smile pointing to the ground. "I'm really gonna miss you, guys." Toph begins. "Me, too" "yeah..." They all join a group hug. Then eventually pulling a stubborn Sokka in as well. "Great; that's enough! - Okaaay, we love each other… Seriously." Then pats Aang and Katara's head, grinning wide.
After some last goodbyes, Sokka climbed up on Appa, and slumped on his back, while Aang airbended to his head and leaned down to look at Appa, "You ready to take to the skies, buddy?" Appa responds with a low roar of disapproval. "Yeah, me too." Katara then walks up closer to the bison and looks up to Aang, "Be safe, Aang! You're going to do great with the Guru. You'll be back in no time!" Slightly reminding herself. He looks down and gives her a big smile and waves, "Thanks Katara! You're going to do great with the Invasion planning!' Sokka interrupts, "Alrighty let's get this show on the road!" Aang chuckles and says, "Oh, right. C'mon buddy, yip yip! "As Appa starts to fly away, Katara yells, "Give dad a hug for meee!" Sokka slightly audible responds, "GOTCHAA!"
"You see, Aang? A little positive thinking does wonders! We got the King on our side, we got Long Feng arrested, and when we get back, Suki's waiting for me." Aang looks forward, smiling, "Yeah… Girls are waiting for us… Thanks, positive attitude." Sokka exclaims, "Everything's going to work out perfectly, from now on and forever."
Everything is going perfect. Sokka's is with his dad and the other Water Tribe Warriors, Toph is meeting up with her mother for the first time in months, and Aang will finally learn to control this amazing power…
"I'm sorry, but I can't let go of Katara." Aang says, looking downwards. "Aang, to master the Avatar State, you must open all the chakras; Surrender yourself." Guru Pathik responds calmly. Aang looks up, and says "…Okay, I'll try." Aang then begins to meditate, and watches Katara, grow farther away from his reach until she disappears completely in the stars. "Let the pure cosmic energy flow" Aang slightly hears from outside his haze. He then sees Katara in chains shouting, "Let me go!" trying to strain out of them. He snaps out of his meditation, "Katara's in danger! I have to go!" Guru Pathik urgently yells for him, "No, Aang! By choosing attachment, you have locked the chakra! If you leave now, you will not be able to go into the Avatar State at all!" Aang gave this nothing more than a passing thought, and chose to ignore his warnings. He and Appa headed to Chameleon Bay for Sokka, ready to face whatever threat is waiting for them.
