CHAPTER 1
Konohagakure no Sato
October 10th
This day in the morning felt like any normal day in Konohagakure no Sato (The Village Hiddenhidden in the leaves), you could feel the cool air of the Fall, the warm rays coming from the sun, and overall the peaceful setting that this village provides. Konohagakure no Sato always prided itself on being the most peaceful and still powerful out of all the Hidden villages. It has been 2 years since the end of the Third Shinobi World War with the victory of Konoha and things have been looking up in the village, most of the stability of the village that had been lost as a consequence of the war had almost completely returned. Most of the credit for this could be given to the relatively new instated Yondaime Hokage Namikaze Minato "Konoha no Kiiroi Senko" (Konoha's Yellow Flash), he has been hailed as the greatest hero of the war, thanks to his incredible intellect that could give a Nara a run for his money, great sensor capabilities, and great mastery jutsus like his famous (or infamous if you were on the other side of the battlefield) Rasengan and the one earned him his moniker of "Konoha no Kiiroi Senko" The Hiraishin no Jutsu (Flying Thunder God Jutsu), a complicated that ninjutsu and Fūinjutsu to such a degree that only one other person has been able to use this jutsu and that person was none other than the original creator of the jutsu Senju Tobirama the Nidaime Hokage but even his version of the jutsu paled in comparison with the version of the Yondaime Hokage. It was all these factors that lead to him being chosen for the position of Hokage even with other important figures like Orochimaru of the Densetsu no Sannin (Legendary Three Ninjas) that were also being considered. Every single villager was happy with the new Hokage, everyone viewed Minato as a young, level headed, powerful, charismatic, and caring of those he loves but also quite ruthless with his enemies, especially those who dare to even think of harming those close to his heart and well they were not wrong at all.
In conclusion, life has been good for the people of Konoha, but today, in particular, was the greatest day of their relatively young life, these people, particular, were none the Namikaze Minato himself and his secret wife Uzumaki Kushina, the Infamous "Akai Chishio no Habanero" (Red-Hot Habanero) although she kind of dislikes that moniker and has tried using other "cooler" monikers, well cooler according to her, but no matter how much she tried to change her moniker, she never could, much to her dismay. She is widely know for her fiery temper, exceptional Kenjutsu mastery that could rival that of the Kiri no Shinobigatana Shichinin Shū (Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist), wide and destructive Suiton techniques, and unrivaled mastery of Fuinjutsu surpassing even his husband on that area who is a certified seal master in his own right, she was the powerful kunoichi of the village only second to Senju Tsunade of the Sannin, she would have catch up to her level but she had to stop her shinobi duties because of maternal leave, yes that's right, Kushina is pregnant with the children of Minato and today is her due date and she couldn't be more excited, a couple of months ago she had the gender revealed or rather genders, she all but squealed of happiness when she discovered that she is having twins, a boy, and a girl when she told Minato, he fainted, after that, they spent quite a while brainstorming names and imagining their new family in the future, they planned to reveal their marriage after their children were born to celebrate their legacy. But there was something slightly concerning and that is the fact the Kushina was the 2nd Jinchuriki of the Kyubi no Yoko ( The Nine-Tailed Fox) and there is a particular thing that occurs when a female Jinchuriki is pregnant and that is during labor the seal that holds back the beast weakens to the point the said beast could break through and escape their containers, so that's why she will be taken to a safe house that is outside of the village, she will be escorted by a detail of ANBU members that were handpicked by the Sandaime Hokagehimself - Sarutobi Hiruzen, and by the wife of the Sandaime herself - Sarutobi Biwako, a very accomplished Medic-nin and current head of the hospital of Konoha, although she isn't in the same level of that of Tsunade who is renowned for being the World's greatest Medic-nin to ever live, Biwako tutored Tsunade in her younger years when she started to develop an interest in that particular branch of the shinobi life, so that would mean that Biwako herself was very competent when it comes to medical ninjutsu. Minato has taken upon himself to set up the most sophisticated barrier they could use so they can be sure nothing will be getting in or out during labor and he will be present to ensure the Kyubi would not escape during labor so with all these precautions they were pretty confident that everything will go alright and there wouldn't be any complication, after all, there wasn't anyone stupid enough or powerful enough to even dare to come close to the safe house where the most powerful man in Konoha is currently waiting for the birth of his children … right?
Later that night
Inside of the safe house, Kushina was laying down on a rather uncomfortable stone bed gripping the bed rails with all her strength, and currently was suffering the worst pain she couldn't even imagine. Going into labor.
"Keep pushing Kushina, the head is almost out" Biwako instructed Kushina while preparing herself to receive the first of the twins. " Yes, keep going the first is almost out, one more push Kushina!"
"I've never seen Kushina in so much pain before" Minato said with a look of worry and concern on his face. "She will be fine, right?" he asked Biwako, trying not to panic because of the pain her wife is currently going through.
"Yes, yes she will be alright just calm down and focus on that seal, you are the Yondaime Hokage for Kami sake, now start acting like such" she replied with some amount of exasperation
Minato had the decency to blush in embarrassment "r-right" he stammered out before returning his focus to the seal on Kushina's abdomen that holds back the Kyubi that currently is struggling against its bindings.
"Great the first one is out, and it's a boy!" Biwako exclaimed happily, inspecting the now crying baby that is taking his first breath outside of his mother's womb, Biwako handles the boy to one of the nurses beside her so she can clean the baby with hot water and then wrap him up to keep him warm.
"Good, one down, one to go, how are you feeling Kushina? " Biwako asked the now new mother with a hint of concern on her face.
"I …feel ...really … exhausted… just..give me... a moment 'ttebane" she said in between pants showing how much that took from her.
"Come on Kushina you can do it" Minato encouraged her wife, while he was sweating from the effort of holding back the Kyubi.
"Shut up Minato, this is really hard, after we are done here I'm going to give you a beatdown so hard that it will pale in comparison with the beatings Ero-Sennin receives from Tsunade-sama for getting me pregnant!" Kushina snapped to Minato while he begins to get paler by the second because there is a huge chance that she will go through that threat.
"Oh shut up you two" Biwako said with a tone of a scolding mother "Okay Kushina get ready to start pushing again" she said getting ready to deliver the next twin.
Kushina lets out a tired sigh and gets ready to push again, after another 20 minutes of pushing, the other baby has finally come outside of her mother´s womb. Kushina has never felt this exhausted, not even sparring with her rival and best friend, Uchiha Mikoto, left her like this, but still, now she was a mother of two adorable and babies so in the end in her mind she said ´worth it'.
" Oh look, it's a girl, and a very cute one," Biwako said before handling the girl to the other nurse so she can wash her and wrap her in a cloth so the baby would be cold, after that both nurses with the newborn babies walked towards Kushina who was now resting after such difficult task. Minato was beside her crying tears of happiness and was thanking Kushina for giving him such a beautiful family, then he saw Biwako and the other 2 nurses walking towards them with bundles in their hands, Minato was so excited that the moments he saw the bundles he started to walk towards them with the purpose of seeing his children for the first time, only to be stopped by Biwako who said "stop right there, the mother must always be the first person to see them first!- she said walking past Minato who stood there with a pout on his face.
Now that Kushina laid eyes on the twins for the time, she couldn't help but to fall in love with her children, the older twin- the boy- had Minato's tanned skin and facial features, she could already tell that he a carbon copy of Minato, when he grows up, well except for two exceptions, his hair and eyes color, Kushina, could clearly see that the boy had the famous Uzumaki red hair and her violet eyes, the younger of the twins - the girl - had the same fair skin as her but with as well as her facial features meaning she would grow up to be her own carbon copy but with her husband's blond hair and cerulean blue eyes, she kept looking at them with all the love a mother could muster, that was when Biwako snap her out of her daze.
"So?, how are you going to name them Kushina, Minato?" Biwako asked the two new parents with curiosity.
"Well we are naming the boy Naruto, after the name of the main character in Jiraiya-sensei first book, as for the girl, Kushina came up with the name Nori for her so we will be naming her that" Minato stated with a chuckle at the end, clearly amused with the name her wife chose.
"Naruto and Nori? A lot of people will ask why did you named your children after ramen condiments but for some reason I'm not surprised at all" Biwako said with a deadpan, already aware of Kushinas's unhealthy obsession with ramen.
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Kushina asked in an offended manner.
"Nothing Kushina, just stay there for a while so Minato can secure the seal and be done for the night, we will take the twins to the hospital now so we can give them a full check-up just to be safe" Biwako said while walking away with the two nurses who had the twins wrapped in a bundle, but out of nowhere a man covered up with a black cloak and yellow mask with black flames and just one eyehole for the right eye to see through appeared and stabbed both nurses in their necks with kunai that came out its sleeves and grabbed both children before the nurses dead bodies could even touch the floor, Biwako froze when she saw the two nurses under her be killed so suddenly but before she could something she stared at the masked man eye hole just to see something very familiar before her world went black, just before she hit the ground she had one final thought before going unconscious 'Sharingan?…'
Minato was about to completely seal the Kyubi again before it broke out of its bindings but before he could do that he heard gurgling sounds and after that 2 thumps, he looked up to see the two already dead nurses and the falling body of Biwako but he could see that she wasn't injured '...Genjutsu?...', he asked in his mind before focusing on the person responsible for this and saw a black-cloaked man with a yellow mask holding both of his children in his arms.
"Step away from the Jinchuriki Yondaime Hokage Namikaze Minato, otherwise the lives of the children will end in one minute" the masked man stated in a deep voice while holding the twins in his arms.
'How did he get past the barrier… this man… who the hell is he?' Minato thought while also tensing himself for a possible battle, just then Kushina started to groan in pain, various kanji spread through her body and the seal started to look bloated, "Kushina!" Minato shouted with concern in his voice'Shit… the seal holding the Kyubi is still vulnerable'.
" Get away from the Jinchiriki, don't you care what happens to your children?" The masked man asked as he tightens his hold on the twins. "Wait!... let's just calm down" Minato replied in a voice that gives away the small fear he had for the lives of his children. "Speak for yourself Minato… I am as calm as can be" the masked man spoke to Minato in a cold voice demonstrating how unaffected he was by this conflict.
The masked man after saying those words tossed both twins upwards to the ceiling and pulled two kunais from his sleeve and prepared to stab the twins while they were falling again toward the path where the man held the kunai, but before they could get any closer, Minato disappeared in a yellow flash and reappeared sticking to the ceiling by applying chakra to his feet and holding both twins in his arms.
"Well I must hand it to you Kiirio Senko, but what about this?" The masked man said while making a half ram hand sign and that's when Minato could hear sizzling coming from the bundles and realized that the blankets used to wrap the babies were covered with explosive tags.
"Minato! Naruto! Nori!" Kushina screamed in warning and worry but Minato was already a step ahead of her when he teleported to a secondary safe house, removed the blankets, and got out as fast as he could barely escaping the blast of the explosion but neither he nor the twins were injured in the explosion, Minato checked the twins and then blew a small sigh of relief, 'thank goodness… Naruto and Nori arent hurt… I was forced to use the Hiraishin no Jutsu … that man's target is Kushina and he actually succeeded in separating us… I must hurry' these were the thoughts of Minato before he vanished with yellow flash.
Minato reappeared in yet in another safe house and placed the crying twins in bed " don't worry you two Tou-san will get you Kaa-san back, I promise" Minato said a determination of steel and a fire in his eyes and the used the Hiraishin no jutsuagain to go back to the primary safe house but he couldn't see Kushina nor the masked man but he did find the still unconscious body of Biwako, so he crouched beside her and checked for any kind of injuries, fortunately, she didn't, she just was in a genjutsu and a potent one to have affected someone like her so he put his fingers on her forehead, flared his chakra and muttered 'Kai" and thus dispelling the genjutsu, Biwako started to stir and slowly opened her eyes to see the worried frown of Minato, and then suddenly jolting up now remembering how she ended like this. " What happened Minato? Where is Kushina? Are the twins alright? She shot these questions in rapid succession, after this Minato calmed her down and explain the whole situation to her.
"Well this is bad, really bad, what are we going to do Minato?" she asked Minato who right now was concentrating on formulating a plan of action, after a few moments of thinking, he told Biwako " Biwako I need you to hurry back to the village as fast as you can and warn Sandaime-sama that the Kyubi might be released upon the village, tell him of what has happened and evacuate the civilians to the underground bunkers and to prepare our forces for a possible attack, I will track Kushina down through the Hiraishin mark that she has and prevent the extraction but better be cautious, her seal was already weak and not take to much before the Kyubi escapes" Minato said, there was a lot of concern for her wife but he was also the Hokage so he must look out for the safety of Konoha as well.
Biwako nodded and used the Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker technique) to make her to Konoha as fast as she could, Minato closed his eyes in concentration so he lock on Kushina's marker, it took him just a second before he was already flashing away
When Minato reappeared he came to the sight he dreaded the most, the Kyubi was just released and somehow the masked man was controlling it, now the Kyubi was looking towards her still conscious wife with murderous intent, it was about to crush Kushina under its paw by the command of the masked man but before it could reach its target she suddenly disappeared in a yellow flash, Minato reappeared carrying Kushina bridal style.
"I see you are as fast as your moniker says, but you're still too late," the masked man said towards the couple who were atop some treetops. " Naruto … Nori … are they safe? Kushina said through exhausted pants, " Yes, they are in a safe place right now" Minato replied to calm Kushinas mind just a bit. She then blew a sigh of relief before her face turned deathly serious " Minato you got to stop that man and the Kyubi, he is planning on destroying Konoha" Minato turned his head slightly so the masked man could only see his right eye and he received the coldest glare he ever got in his life, the masked flinched slightly but with the distance between them he couldn't see it, after this, he left the area. The masked man turned on his heel and started to walk towards Konoha.
Minato reappeared in the same safe house he left the twins in, he placed Kushina in the same bed as their babies who were now sleeping, as soon as she was in bed she started to sob lightly and began to kiss her babies forehead, she thanked Minato for reuniting her with her babies, Minato as soon as he saw this scene his heart clenched and he tightens his fist so much that the knuckles turned white, his hatred for the masked man only grew for having to ruin this special day for his family, he went for a nearby wardrobe and took out his Hokage trench coat, he put it on and gathered more supplies like his special tri-pronged kunai. " I'll be back" and with those words, he left the house.
We could see now that the forces of Konoha were now mobilizing, Biwako had arrived a couple of minutes ago and told Hiruzen what has happened and the orders the Yondaime has issued, Hiruzen ordered his ANBU guard to sound the alarms and make sure the civilians were evacuated and forces were preparing for the upcoming battle with Sarutobi Hiruzen the Sandaime Hokage dressed in his battle gear at the head.
The masked man landed just outside of the wall of Konoha, surveying all the activity that was happened, 'So, he managed to warn the village before I could even begin my attack, no matter, nothing could stand up to the might of the Kyubi' he thought before doing some hand signs and his open palm against the ground 'Kuchiyose no Jutsu' (Summoning technique). A giant plume of smoke appeared, the blast of the technique blew a hole in Konoha's outer wall making the shinobi of Konoha, who were prepared to defend their home, tense in anticipation for what's coming next when the smoke cleared enough they could see the form of the Kyubi no Yoko letting out a deafening roar, and started to thrash around the surrounding area, the shinobi of Konoha started to battle the beast to drive it outside of the village but they were having little success.
This was the scene Minato arrived to, he stood on top of his own head in the Hokage Monument, when he arrived he could tell the Kyubi had detected his presence, it started to gather chakra to its mouth in preparation of its deadliest technique the 'Bijuudama' (Tailed beast bomb) Minato recognized this technique and began to do hand signs and held his tri-pronged kunai toward the beast, the Kyubi shot the Bijuudama towards the Hokage monument just to hit what appeared to be a barrier made of kanjis, the Bijuudama disappeared inside of this barrier just to detonate at a safe distance away from Konoha, just before Minato could go and report to the Sandaime, he felt a presence behind him, out of pure reflex and experience he made an attack that would have killed his opponent but in this case it only phase through as if attacking a ghost then he realized it was the masked man when the attack phased through his head, the masked man grabbed Minatos wrist to hold him tight, and started to pull him into what appeared to be a warp holethat came out of his right eye and was being dragged into it, but before he could be fully dragged into this strange technique he used Hiraishin to get away.
Minato reappeared in another area and started to analyze his opponent, 'my attack went through him, but he materialized himself to pull into that technique of his, what kind of technique was that?' he asked himself, a moment later a swirl appeared out of nowhere and from that swirl came the masked man "I can't let you get away" he said. 'Does he have a teleportation jutsu as well?, that would explain how he took Kushina so fast, he managed to get through an ANBU detail that was picked by the Sandaime, slipped through an ultra-secret barrier, and knew that the seal holding the Kyubi would weaken by going into labor, he also undid the seal and managed to tame the Kyubi and went through Konoha's barrier without getting caught' after going through that train of thought, he came to only one conclusion.
"Are you Uchiha Madara? no that would be impossible, he is supposed to be dead" Minato asked and then stated, "well I wonder about that" was the cryptic response from the masked man.
"Well, it doesn't matter right now, why are you targeting Konoha?" Minato asked once again, "well you could say that I did on a whim or that I planned or a declaration of war or for the sake of peace" the masked man responded before he put on some wristbands with a chain attached to both wristbands, they got ready to strike, they started to run towards each other, Minato intended to thrust his kunai into the heart of his enemy, but like before he went through him as if he wasn't even there but as soon as he went completely out of his body his opponent materialized and intended to cut Minato in half with his strange weapon of choice but the chain barely managed to touch him before Minato had already transported himself to a nearby kunai of his to get himself out of danger.
Minato started to better comprehend the strange jutsu of his opponent and now he came up with an strategy that will most likely make him the winner of this confrontation, he just hoped the masked man wouldn't be able to see through it, so with that, they started to rush to each other again, Minato threw his kunai to head of the masked man only to go through as he predicted, after throwing his weapon Minato instantly charged up his second most famous technique 'Rasengan', there was just mere inches separating both opponents but before the man could touch him Minato disappeared in the blink of an eye and reappeared behind the masked man in mid air and holding the kunai he had just throw at him and then slammed the Rasengan on his back and used that chance to also tag him with his Hiraishin mark, after this, both combatants retreated to a safe distance between them, the masked was holding his injured left arm and it appeared to be melting somehow but before the masked man could do something about it Minato appeared in front of him thanks to the Hiraishin mark he had just placed, Minato stabbed through his stomach and placed a Keiyaku Fūin (contract seal) "with this the Kyubi will be out of your control" Minato said to the masked man in a cold voice.
"You're worthy of your title Yondaime Hokage, you managed to hurt me and removed my control over the Kyubi, you win this battle but I will come back for the Kyubi and the world shall be mine" the masked man said in a low voice before a swirl appeared in his right eye and vanished from sight. Those words startled Minato but he didn't dwell on it, he still had to deal with Kyubi, with the thought he disappeared once again with a yellow flash.
Back in the village, the Shinobi were starting to lose hope, casualties were high, many were tired of the fighting, they were successful in leading him outside of the village walls thanks to the help of the Sandaime but now he himself was starting to get tired, the only comfort they could find was that the civilians' casualties were kept to minimum thanks to the warning beforehand.
The Kyubi was preparing himself on launching yet again another Bijuudama but before he could completely charge it, something crashed against its back creating a cloud of dust, when the dust settled the shinobi of Konoha could see a giant toad with rust-colored skin and a blue haori on top of the Kyubi, but not just any giant toad, Hiruzen recognized it as Gamabunta the boss summon of the toad summoning contract and if he was here that only could mean two choices, the first to come to mind would be the last loyal 'Sannin'Jiraiya the Toad sage but he knew he was out of the village managing his spy network, so that would only leave..., but before he could continue on his thoughts a random shinobi yelled " YONDAIME-SAMA!" all surrounding shinobi looked towards where the man was pointing and yes, there he was, the Yondaime standing in all his glory on top of Gamabunta with his trench coat flapping with the wind. "Keep him pinned down i need to gather more Chakra" Minato ordered his summon while he had his hands on praying position, "just hurry up, holding the Kyubi down is difficult even for me" Gamabunta replied while focusing all of its weight on top of the head of the Kyubi preventing it from getting up, the Kyubi was thrashing on the ground trying to get up, the Kyubi raised a claw and swing towards Gamabunta in an attempt of killing the nuisance on his back but Gamabunta managed to get his head out of the reach of its claw but not entirely as it left a gash over Gamabuntas left eye but not enough to actually destroy the eye but it will leave a scar.
Minato finally gathered his chakra and used the 'Hiraishin no Jutsu' to transport himself and the Kyubi far away from the village, and then brought Kushina, Naruto, and Nori with him, "Kushina I need you to set up a barrier".
Hiruzen was running as fast as he could towards the area where Minato had taken the Kyubi to see if he could do anything to help his successor in the task of finally defeating the Kyubi. He was being escorted by two ANBU operatives as they made their way through the trees when they finally reached the site and came to a horrible sight, the Kyubi was about to strike what appeared to be two babies in a ceremonial crib only for Minato and Kushina to get in between of the Kyubi's claw and the babies that resulted in them getting pierced through their combined torsos but hey managed to stop the claw before reaching the babies and both Kushina and Minato appeared to be talking to the babies, 'their last words most likely' Hiruzen thought grimly, after a couple of moments later, the barrier keeping Hiruzen outside finally collapsed and the Kyubi apparently had been sealed inside of both children, Hiruzen hurried towards Minato and Kushina, when they arrived they could see that Minato was death but Kushina still remained conscious, "Kushina!" Hiruzen exclaimed in alarm, " Sandaime-sama, please take care of our children, their names are Naruto and Nori Uzumaki-Namikaze, Minato used the 'Shiki Fujin' (Reaper Death Seal) to seal the yin half of the Kyubi inside of Naruto and yang half inside of Nori, please promise us that you will protect them" Kushina explained with a weak and hoarse voice and then pleaded with a few sobs at the end, "Okay, I promise that they shall be safe, you have my word Kushina" Hiruzen said in a sorrowful voice as he watched the light of her eyes leave and slumping beside the body of her husband, as soon as she touched the ground again, the twins started to cry as if they knew that they had just lost both parents barely hours after they were born. 'This was supposed to be both Minato and Kushina's happiest day and yet it ended being these poor souls saddest night' Hiruzen thought sorrowfully as he gazed upon the still crying twins.
And this chapter is done, first, I want to say that this my the first-ever Fanfic that I ever wrote and English is not my first language so if you find any grammatical errors or you find the writing kind of cringy well you now know why, it took me a couple of hays to finish this chapter, I have a job and I also study so don't expect any fast updates but I am determined to see this project through.
NOTES: this a fanfic idea that I have been thinking about for a little more than a week now, I have the barebones idea of where to take the story but some of the details I don't have very clear, so if you have any idea, tips or suggestions about the story or for my writing style feel free to leave it in the review or PM, but right now I will make a poll in my profile about the pairing.
So yes, this story starts very similar to canon but with key differences:
Kushina had twins instead of having just Naruto.
Biwako actually lives! In all of the fanfics that I have ever read, there isn't at least ONE in where Biwako actually survives, so I decide to change that in here, maybe giving the twins another person that can be a surrogate grandparent besides Hiruzen will prove interesting a least.
The destruction of Konoha was actually less compared to canon, they were less civilians deaths this time although the same could not be said for the shinobi side.
