Chapter 1: Timey Wimey
Doctor Who: During Series 7
Once Upon a Time: During Series 7
(Funny isn't it)
"You're certain it's today?" Mary Margret/Snow White asks, taking fresh cookies out from the oven. "Time is difficult when travelling through realms."
"It's what she told me," Emma says, reaching over to take one of the baked goods, despite them being so hot. However, when David tries to do the same, his wife playfully slaps his hand away.
"What was that for?" he asks.
"Those are for Crystal," Snow scolds him with a smile.
"So why did Emma get one?" the former prince asks.
"Because she's pregnant and needs to keep our grandchild nourished."
"Please Mom, for the amount of food you leave in my freezer, I swear I'm going to overfeed this kid."
"Aye, he or she is going to be quite big," Killian says, reaching over and wrapping his arms around his wife. "But that certainly won't bother us." His hand finds her slightly bulging middle and he gently wraps his hook there too. He kisses her neck and inhales her scent, smelling like her favourite floral perfume and freshly baked cookies. She turns to meet his lips. He enjoys the taste of chocolate on her lips and the two smile.
Just then, little Neal toddles into the room and goes to his sister. He grabs her pants and pulls.
"Up, up!" he demands.
Without hesitation, the blonde obliges and lifts her little brother up.
"Oh man you're getting so big buddy," she says.
Once in her arms, the toddler immediately grabs for the cookie, but Emma moves it out of his grasp. The little one pouts until Emma breaks a small piece off for him to nibble on.
"Crystal did ask for some kind of device from her dad that helps her keep track of the years and months, so she wouldn't miss much or let herself age too significantly,"
"Time is bloody confusing," Killian mutters. "Like when we went to visit Henry."
"I can't believe that he'd grown that much in what literally felt like two years for us," David adds.
Emma gives a soft smile, masking the bit of sadness she felt in her stomach. She'd wished that everything would slow down in that realm her son was in. He'd literally gone from teen to adult in a flash. Even now, she still saw him as that cute little kid with freckles, messy hair, and striped scarf, clutching his fairy tale book to his chest. Perhaps it was inevitable that every mother would feel slightly sad because her child has grown up and left, even when there wasn't magic involved. Fortunately, she and Killian were expecting their own little one in a few months, and the adventure would begin anew.
There's a knock at the door. Mary Margret goes to answer it to see Regina, Zelena and little Robin standing there.
"Smells good," Regina says, as she and her half-sister and niece step inside.
"Have you heard anything else since the other day?" Mary Margret presses.
"No, all she said is that she was coming home and to watch the skies," the former Evil Queen answers.
"She's not flying back home on a broom, is she?" Killian asks with a smirk.
Zelena shoots him a dirty look and readjusts her daughter on her hip. Mary Margret goes and brings some animal crackers for the tiny one, which she happily nibbles on.
"Hell, if I know Crystal, she commandeered a UFO to come back home," Emma laughs.
"She is Rumple's child," Regina groans. "Let's hope this realm-hopping adventure quells some of her impulsivity."
Everyone in the home looks on with doubt.
…
"Yes, now would be the perfect time to run," the Doctor says, grabbing Amy and Rory's hands and bolting towards the TARDIS.
The two people and one alien bolt through the rapidly shrinking tunnels, forcing them to walk single file towards the blue police call box.
"What the hell is that thing?" Amy gasps.
"Don't look back it!" the Timelord orders. "It will only try to bond with you and leech off your life force!"
"Then why the hell did we wake it up!" Rory yells, forcing his wife in front of him to keep her safe.
"Accidental discharge of sonic energy it happens to everyone," the Doctor says. "And evidently it can manipulate the atmosphere around it... good note for the future."
The gap was becoming narrower to the point that they all have to duck. The blue box is only feet away.
It's then that Amy trips and falls into the rocks.
"AMY!" Rory shouts, going to help his wife.
The roar of the distant creature can be heard through the tunnels and the earth is moving with its enormous body pounding against it. The human couple looks to see what caused her to fall.
Some sort of vine had wrapped around her ankle, likely the monstrosity's doing to prevent their escape. Rory frantically tries to rip it off, while Amy searches for a sharp rock to try and cut it. Before anything else can happen, the vine wraps around Rory's wrist, ensnaring him to the spot. A piercing pain enters both their bodies, and they scream out as the vine cuts into their skin. The entire time, the creature rumbles closer. The tunnels are still shrinking, threatening to crush them and the TARDIS. The box's roof begins to crumble slightly with the mounting pressure. The doctor is frantically trying to keep it up so the entire thing won't crumple like a tin can.
"DOCTOR!" Amy screams.
The Timelord turns, leaving his beloved machine unguarded for a few moments, holding his sonic screwdriver out rushing towards what's keeping his companions hostage. Knowing he's risking damaging the TARDIS further, he needs to save the people closest to him first. While organic in nature, the vine slowly unravels at the force of the device, enough for Rory to pull his wrist out and help Amy. Sadly, her shoe cannot be rescued, but the two make it to the door and rush inside. The Doctor hops in, just as the sinister eyes of the creature can be seen beyond in the darkness.
"Never seeing you again," he mutters before hurrying inside.
Inside the time machine, sparks are raining down and wires and other debris are coming loose. Sirens and warning alarms are going off everywhere, overwhelming all of them. The Doctor stumbles to the controls and activates his machine, despite the sounds. The familiar whooshing sound can barely be heard before the box vanishes.
Once it does, the tunnel retracts and resumes its former shape. The creature lets out a roar and goes forward to retrieve what the intruders had left behind.
