The Copen Region, a set of four major islands. The first and biggest island is Scanland. Scanland is undoubtedly the most diverse, featuring the giant Coalcrawl Desert, the massive JewelBloom Forest, and the arctic land surrounding Hardplatter City.
The second and smallest island, Den, is right beside Scanland. To someone looking briefly at a map, the two would look connected due to how close they are. Den is small, so it only has one real climate. Den is a beach style island, great for water type lovers.
Towards the top of the Copen Region is the third island, Star Island. While this Island is around the size of the second and fourth, it has only one city- Star City. Star City is where the Pokemon League Tournament happens once a year. Star Island is a lush and green land.
Finally, there is Svenda, the second largest island. Though it is barely half the size of Scanland, Svenda is still bigger than Den and slightly bigger than Star Island. Svenda is mostly a green island, though it has the Scorchlands towards the top. The Scorchlands are volcano covered lands that are known for their immense heat.
In each island, there is a Head Professor, the professor who hands out new pokemon and pokedexes. Unlike most regions, trainers can only start traveling at the age of 16. In Svenda, it's Professor Hemlock, who lives in the nice and leisurely Cherryheart City.
Within this small city is a boy. 16 year old Trey Wilson lays in his bed, asleep. He has medium length brown hair, a scrawny physique, a round face, and fair skin. Today is the day he gets his first Pokemon and starts his journey.
BEEP BEEP BEEP
Trey opens his light brown eyes, aiming them at his alarm clock. He keeps his eyes narrowed as the sunlight shines through his curtains, right into his eyes. Trey turns off his alarm and sits up from his bed with a groan, letting out a yawn as he stretches.
"Are you up, sweetheart?" His mom asks, knocking on the door.
"I'm up, mom!" Trey says as he quickly gets dressed, putting on a dark blue t-shirt, a black and yellow jacket with a pokeball design on the back, black jean shorts, and blue sneakers. Trey opens the door, revealing his mom, a middle aged woman with similar eyes and facial shape.
"Professor Hemlock called to remind you that your first Pokemon is waiting on you." Mom says with a sniffle.
"Mom…" Trey scrunches his face up before Mom suddenly hugs him tightly.
"Oh! My baby is growing up so fast!" Mom begins sobbing loudly as Trey awkwardly pats her on the back.
"Hey mom..? You might break my ribs…" Trey groans, not from annoyance, but from her tight grip.
"Five more minutes!" Mom cries, almost cartoonishly.
"Mom." Trey smiles as he gently breaks the hug.
"I know… Just be sure to come see me before you leave, okay?" Mom wipes her tears away.
"Of course." Trey grins before leaving the house. Like most homes in Cherryheart, he lives in a small, but comfy one story house. This knowledge makes it easier to find the Pokemon Laboratory, which is a whopping three stories. Trey, filled with excitement, sprints towards the lab.
As he draws close, he nearly runs into a girl exiting the lab. She has long black hair in a high ponytail with some of her chin-length bangs swooped to the left and the rest tied back, as well as a heart-shaped face, pale skin, and gray-blue eyes. She is wearing black capri sweatpants that stop just below her knees, red suspenders that hang freely, red and white converses, a black and red t-shirt, and a black hoodie with gray sleeves and hood.
"Hey, watch it, dude." The woman growls as she lazily walks past him, hands in her pockets. Following behind her is a very happy Treecko.
"Oh hey! A Treecko!" Trey grins.
"Oh hey. You can see. Cool." The girl sarcastically responds. "Let's go, Treecko." The girl nudges her head in the direction she's walking in and the Treecko happily follows. Trey is caught off guard by her response before he enters the lab.
Inside, various machines are seen, most of which are filled with numbers and calculations. Trey has no idea what any of it means. He heads to the back of the first floor, where a 30 year old man in a lab coat stands. He has slightly tan skin, gelled black hair slicked back, dark brown eyes, a square face, and a lean physique. Aside from his lab coat, he is wearing black jeans and a purple dress shirt. Beside him on a table is a Litwick, smiling up at him.
"Professor!" Trey exclaims, filled with excitement. Professor Hemlock turns to face Trey with a calm smile.
"Hello there, young Trey. How are you this morning?" Professor Hemlock offers his hand to Trey, who enthusiastically shakes it.
"I'm great, sir!" Trey beams.
"You sure are full of energy." Hemlock raises an amused eyebrow before leading Trey upstairs, where a dozen pokemon are seen. Charmanders are playing together, some Snivys are watching all of the other pokemon, a Totodile is chasing around other pokemon.
One that catches Trey's attention is a Torchic, one that is approaching him. Torchic chirps as he cocks his head to the side, staring up at Trey.
"Oh, he's cute!" Trey grins. Trey reaches down towards the Torchic, who hopes into Trey's hands and chirps happily.
"Looks like he likes you." Hemlock chuckles.
"I think I'll go with Torchic." Trey smiles at the small fire chick. Hemlock reveals a pokeball, which he uses on Torchic. With that, Hemlock hands it to Trey.
"Here you go, Trey. You'll also be needing these." Hemlock says, handing Trey a PokeDex and five empty pokeballs as well. "This is the beginning of your journey. I'd recommend starting with the Goldshell City Gym."
"Thank you so much, Professor!" Trey says, before giving his goodbyes and heading home. After many, many, many tears and tight hugs, Mom allows Trey to leave home. Trey is now sporting a black slouchy beanie that lets the front of his hair stick out.
Soon, Trey leaves Cherryheart City and enters Route 1, a nice grassland with a couple trees that bridges the gap between Cherryheart City and Goldshell City. As he walks, Trey takes notice of various Pokemon- Pidgeys, Poochyenas, Rattatas, Taillows, and more. He should probably try to catch o-
"OH COME ON!" A masculine scream is heard. Trey rushes down the path and towards the scream to see a man around his age in the middle of a battle against a Pidove.
He has short spiky brown hair, dark brown eyes, fair skin, slim physique, and an oval shaped face. He is wearing a red t-shirt, blue jeans, and black and red sneakers. Standing before him is a Tepig.
"TEPIG! USE TACKLE!" The man screams. Tepig follows his order, storming towards the Pidove, who dodges. The Pidove then uses gust, blowing Tepig back and into the man. The man catches Tepig.
"Are you guys okay?" Trey asks as he approaches. The man falls to the ground, sitting as he holds Tepig, while the Pidove flies away.
"That Pidove wouldn't stay in my pokeball." The man grumbles.
"Did you try damaging it?" Trey innocently asks.
"I tried, but he was too fast." The man sighs before grabbing his satchel. He pulls out a small metal case and opens it, revealing Oran Berries. He feeds one to the hurt Tepig, causing the Tepig to smile up at him. "My name's Drill." The man smiles up at Trey.
"I'm Trey." Trey waves nonchalantly. "Are you from Cherryheart?"
"Nope. I'm from Goldshell." Drill sets Tepig down and stands up. "Tepig and I were struggling to beat Ordia, so we came here to do some training...and catch new Pokemon." Drill says the last part with a sigh.
"Is Ordia the Gym Leader?" Trey raises an eyebrow.
"Yeah. She's a Normal Type leader." Drill nods. "Tepig and I couldn't beat her...a couple times...for several months now…" Drill scratches the back of his head.
Trey smiles at him, feeling sympathy for him. "I can help if you want? I just got my first Pokemon." Trey suggests.
"I'll have to take you up on that when I get back to Goldshell. For now, I need to get Tepig to the Pokemon Center. An Oran Berry can only do so much." Drill returns Tepig to his pokeball. Then, he shows his XTransceiver to Trey. "Put in your info. When you get to Goldshell, give me a call and I'll battle you." Drill smirks boldly. The two exchange information before parting ways, with Drill heading towards Goldshell City.
As Trey prepares to continue exploring, he sees a Poochyena staring at him curiously. "Alright, let's try this." Trey smiles before pulling out Torchic's pokeball and preparing to throw it, only for Poochyena to approach him. Trey is confused by this, especially when Poochyena sits down in front of him. "Hi there…" Trey sits down as well. Suddenly, Poochyena sprints towards him and jumps over Trey. Trey is caught off guard until he feels his head getting chilly. He looks behind him to see the Poochyena...with Trey's beanie in his mouth.
"Wait no!" Trey yells as Poochyena runs away, clearly having fun at Trey's expense. Trey gets up and chases after the much faster Pokemon. "Come back!" Poochyena approaches a small hill and runs around it. Trey, trying to gain some sort've advantage, climbs the hill. When he gets to the top, he sees two people standing before the now confused Poochyena.
The first is a young adult male who has long green hair and a lean physique. He has dark green eyes.
The other is a young adult female who has short blue hair and a skinny physique. She has dark blue eyes.
Both are wearing baggy sweaters with the letters "SB" on the front, along with leggings.
"Prepare for destruction-" The man starts out.
"Wait what?" The woman looks over.
"What?" The man stops, confused.
"Is that what we decided on, Sammy?" The woman crosses her arms.
"Hang on, lemme check, Janice." Sammy pulls out a small notepad as both Trey and Poochyena watch, bewildered. He flips to a page and mumbles, "Prepare for destruction- Yeah, prepare for destruction is on here."
"That's weird. Destruction is such a poor rhyming word." Janice shakes her head. "Whatever, we'll deal with that problem later."
"Hi." Trey raises his hand. "I'm Trey."
"We're Team Superbad! The baddest of the bad!" Sammy snickers, doing a strange pose.
"The coolest of the cool." Janice also does a strange pose.
"What do you mean by bad?" Trey raises his eyebrow as Poochyena cocks his head to the side.
"We steal Pokemon!" Sammy exclaims.
"What?!" Trey responds, shocked.
"Well, actually, we haven't stolen any yet. Most because Team Superbad is literally just us." Janice places her hands on her hips. "But you watch! We'll steal some Pokemon and show you!"
"Uhh… Okay. I'm just going to continue chasing this Poochyena. Please don't steal anyone's Pokemon, okay?" Trey asks as he points to Poochyena.
"Absolutely not! We are evil!" Sammy says before trying to grab Poochyena, but Poochyena drops the beanie and bites his hand. "AHHH!" Sammy lets out a high pitched scream before falling into the fetal position, holding his hand.
"Sammy!" Janice runs to her friend's side. "Darn Heroes! We'll get you back for this!" She shakes her fist in the air dramatically.
"Umm…" Trey and Poochyena exchange stares before Poochyena picks the beanie up again and trots along. "Good luck with that! Please don't steal anything!" Trey waves goodbye as he chases after Poochyena again.
Eventually, Poochyena leads Trey to a clearing and spins around, dropping the beanie behind him. Poochyena then growls playfully at Trey.
"You want to battle for it?" Trey questions and Poochyena barks in response. Trey smiles. "Alright… GO TORCHIC!" Trey throws Torchic's pokeball. Torchic bursts out with a chirp, excited.
Poochyena growls before rushing forward with a tackle. This sends Torchic to the ground, but Torchic remains determined. "Torchic! Use Ember!" Trey calls out and Torchic stands up before shooting fire from its beak. It hits Poochyena hard, causing Poochyena to skid back a little bit. Poochyena goes for another tackle.
"Quick Torchic, dodge!" Trey calls out, but Poochyena is much quicker. Poochyena nails Torchic with the tackle. Torchic stands up, glaring at Poochyena. "Ember!" Trey calls out once more and this one drops Poochyena. "GO POKEBALL!" Trey throws the pokeball and it absorbs Poochyena.
Wobble
Wobble
Wobble
Ding!
"YES!" Trey cheers happily as he runs over and picks up the pokeball, as well as his beanie. Torchic rushes over happily, proud of himself. "You did great, Torchic!" Trey pets the top of Torchic's head. Torchic chirps again before Trey's XTransceiver rings. It's a picture from Drill. He caught a Pidove.
A/N: This is just a basic intro to this story. I hope everyone enjoyed it. For anyone curious about the map, I based it off of Denmark, as shown by the name Copen. See you all next time!
