Chapter 1

"Hey Taiga. I heard that you were going to be leaving soon. Is that true?" A feminine voice called out to a leaving figure.

Stopping his stride, the boy looked back to take in the shoulder length strawberry blond hair that had a simple ball cap on top of it. A smirk was dancing on her freckled face as she peered up at him. It was obvious that he was taller than her, but it still made him want to laugh at how she tried to act like she wasn't short.

"In a couple of months when school ends." He answered which caused her smirk to disappear from her face. Readjusting the strap to his duffle bag he noticed the lack of luster in her green eyes which told him one thing. Sighing he looked down at his feet for a few moments before looking back at the girl. "I've already told you and your brother that I'll keep in touch. So, I don't see why you're getting so down about it."

Puffing out his cheeks she pushed up her hat until it was on the verge of falling off her head. "That really isn't the same. You know that as well as I do."

He resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the comment. If someone were to win the prize for being the most stubborn it would go to her in a heartbeat. "Listen Abby―"

"No listen Abby about anything. Getting letters and texts aren't the same as seeing you in person Taiga. I know we'll be thousand of miles apart but there are other ways to stay in touch. There is video chat now but even then, that really isn't the same. It's not like we can play basketball over the phone." She argued as she crossed her arms.

Rolling his eyes, he watched the temper tantrum that he couldn't help but chuckle at. For someone that was on the shorter side she tried her best when it came to being on the basketball team for the school. "You know you'll always lose against me."

Narrowing her eyes, she stuck her tongue out at him just as a hand came down on top of her head.

"Is Abigail pestering you again about leaving Taiga?" A male voice called out, causing Abagail to glare at him from the corner of her eye.

"Pretty much Luke." He chuckled as he turned around to leave.

The memory faded into darkness as the sound of Eric Church playing in her ears welcomed her to the land of being awake. Cracking an eye open she looked around and huffed softly. She was nowhere close to being in Japan which irritated her. Being cooped up on a plane was getting her antsy to move around and she didn't feel like being rude to the person next to her. It wasn't their fault for being stuck in the same location as her.

Looking out the window she stared at the endless night that was in front of her. Part of her wanted to see the sun with the fluffy white clouds that were peaceful. Chewing on her cheek, Abigail looked down at her lap to the envelope that was waiting for her to read it for the umpteenth time.

"You have some family in Japan?" Her gaze turned to the person next to her in surprise. She honestly thought that they were asleep like most of the other passengers were.

Looking down at it she toyed with it as a small smile graced her face. "Um I guess you can say that."

A soft nod came from the stranger as they glanced at the letter once more. "It must have been a long time since you've seen them if you look like someone that's going on their first ever date."

Her face flushed even if she knew no one could see it. Shaking her head to clear the thoughts out of her mind she closed her eyes. "No, I mean yes. I haven't seen them in years to be honest. I-I thought I would surprise him."

A soft laugh escaped the person next to her as they crossed their arms. "I'm sure this person will be happy to see you."

Laying her head against the side of the window she closed her eyes. 'I hope so. Knowing how Taiga Kagami is he's going to have a cow over everything that I'm laying on him.'
