Sometimes things just get heavy. Especially in the supernatural world.
For Stiles today was one of these days. Days where everything just was too heavy, where he was just too tired.
He was sitting on his bed, staring at his evidence wall, red yarn scattered everywhere, close to breaking down.
Derek groaned, flipping a page in a book, laying down on Stiles bed.
- Stop it. - Stiles tried his best not to snap but he felt like ripping his hair out.
- What? I didn't even say anything. - Derek didn't even lift his eyes up.
- That groan was enough. - Stiles snapped only to feel worse right after.
It wasn't Derek's fault, none of it.
Stiles let his head fall into his arms, close to tears.
He didn't even notice his fingers starting to claw at his head, fisting his hair till Derek's hands landed on his wrists with a strong but still gentle touch.
Stiles looked up at Derek, murmuring a soft apology, letting Derek pull Stiles' hand down in his lap.
- Stiles. Talk to me. Please. - Derek searched Stiles eyes with such intensity that Stiles was sure that he was using his wolf abilities to pray into Stiles soul.
- I'm just tired. I'm tired of it all. All that. - Stiles nods towards his evidence wall, tears gathering in his eyes no matter how hard he tries to get them back. - I'm tired, okay? All that supernatural crap. It never gets easier. Never. Whenever we finish something, some other crap comes to bite us in the asses and I am so tired of it! For one day, I just want to be a casual teenager with some casual problems! For just one fucking day, I want to be normal. -
Stiles fully exploded, tears spilling over his cheeks, his hands shaking so terribly that Derek needed to grip them tighter.
Stiles huffed out annoyed breath, pulling one hand out of Derek's grip and angrily wiping away the stray tears.
Derek stayed silent the whole time, knowing that he just needed to let Stiles rant it all out.
He stood up, pulling Stiles up as well, leading him out of the room and outside to the car.
- Where are we going? - Stiles felt tired once again, thoughts about napping surfacing in his mind.
- I'm taking you on the date. - Derek answered like it was the most casual thing in the world.
- You what? Like... Like on a date date? - Stiles turned to look at Derek with wide eyes.
- Yeah. Let's be a casual couple today and go on a date. - Derek smiled, starting the car.
Stiles was too shocked to speak for a moment, his mind trying to process what exactly was happening.
- But all the stuff happening... We... - Stiles started, looking back but fell silent once again, earning a smirk from Derek. - Oh, shut up. -
Stiles punches Derek on the arm, them both laughing.
After a bit of driving Stiles couldn't take it anymore, turning to look at Derek once again.
- Where are you taking me? -
- You'll see. -
- Is it far? -
- You'll see. -
- What will we be doing? -
- If you keep being annoying then trying to restrain a werewolf who's trying to kill you. - Derek tried to make his voice strict but failed, earning a wide grin from Stiles.
- Aww, how I like when you flirt. - Stiles mussed up Derek's hair.
Derek slaps Stiles hand away, growling softly that only made Stiles laugh.
Derek rolled his eyes, turning on music, glancing at the smiling Stiles for a split second.
After a bit of driving they stopped in the woods.
- Okay, not that I know what a real date should look like, but is a forest really the right place for one? - Stiles couldn't help but look all around them.
- You'll see. - Derek smiled, getting out of the car, opening doors for Stiles and taking his hand in his.
Stiles stayed silent for their small walk through the forest.
They stopped at the edge of the woods, ocean roaring in front of them.
- A beach! - Stiles looked up, his eyes shining.
- Yes. - Derek couldn't help but smile.
In just a couple seconds, Stiles was out of his clothes and running down into roaring water, joy radiating from him.
Sun was setting, painting everything in soft colors. Making Stiles shine with water droplets, looking breathtakingly jumping in the waves of the ocean, a radiant smile on his lips, his eyes shining even brighter than the setting sun.
Derek stood there, watching him, his heart skipping a beat because in that moment, he knew that he had fallen deeply and hopelessly in love with that dorky weird guy, he was in love with Stiles.
And in all honesty, he wouldn't change a thing about it.
Derek stripped himself, running into water and catching Stiles across the waist, earning a loud shriek like laugh from Stiles, a bigger wave sending them both crashing down. But when they pulled back up the surface, they were both laughing.
Derek pulled Stiles closer, smashing their lips together in a bruising kiss.
Stiles couldn't help but let out a small whine like sound before kissing back with matching urgency. It was just that still, whenever they kissed, it came as a surprise for him, making his heart skip a beat and his mind short circulate for a moment.
When they broke apart, a sappy smile spread over Stiles lips, his fingers grazing over the nape of Derek's neck.
In that moment he felt light, feeling waves crashing against their pressed together bodies while the sun was setting and painting everything around them in beautifully bright colors, making Derek shine. In that moment, he felt pure happiness cursing through his body. All thanks to Derek.
An evil smile spread over Derek's lips, alarming Stiles.
- Oh, no, no, no. - Stiles pushed away but Derek's arms locked around his waist.
- Oh, yes. - Derek smirked.
Stiles didn't even have enough time to scream when Derek was already lifting him up and letting him fall into another crashing wave.
When he finally found his footing, Derek was laughing like a mad.
Stiles smirked before jumping on, pushing Derek underwater.
They kept on wrestling and splashing each other, laughter ringing all around them.
They ended up kissing, Stiles lips already turning bluish from all the time spent in the water, moon already replacing sun in the sky.
- Let's get you in warmth. Don't want you to freeze to death. - Derek laughed against Stiles lips, already carrying him outside.
- Yeah, who else would you have to kiss then. - Stiles laughed, jumping down when they were out of the water.
They dressed as quickly as possible, hurrying back to the car, Derek turning on the heater right away.
- Derek. - Stiles sounded all serious, making Derek look back up from searching for a spare jacket on his backseat. - Thank you for today. I really needed it. -
A soft smile spread over Stiles lips, making Derek's heart swell with warmth.
- Thank you, Stiles. - Derek pulled the spare jacket around Stiles, pecking him softly on the lips, breathing in the scent of happiness still lingering all around them.
Stiles just smiled brightly, turning on some crappy music and starting to sing along to the song playing.
All Derek could do was just shake his head and smile, driving them back home.
