Barry and Eddie stood across from each other in the CCPD's gym. They have been sparing and working out together since the reverse flash stuff turned their lives upside down. Eddie had saved Barry's life by taking the chance and killing reverse flash with a well placed head shot. Then after the singularity, Eddie was the only one Barry didn't push away. Not for lack of trying, it was more like Eddie refused to let Barry go it alone. The result was them forging a strong bond. Eddie was there when Barry finally admitted he was actually gay and was just pretending to be in love with Iris to hide it. Iris did not take that news well. Eddie and Iris split after a fight they had. Iris wanted to move away from all the meta insanity as she had enough, But Eddie refused saying Central City was his home and he wasn't leaving. So she left without him. Barry was there of coarse to help Eddie through it.
"Barry you ok you seem a bit distracted."
Barry turned red tearing his eyes from Eddies shirtless torso.
"Yeah I'm fine just wondering when the pretty boy detective will make his move" Barry teases to cover the fact that he was way to attracted to Eddie then he actually should be.
Eddie laughs at the taught and goes in for a solid hit but Barry dodges at the last second and landed a counter to Eddies left side, making sure not to use much force. As Barry physically had gotten a lot stronger since he and Eddie started their training sessions together. Now he could do damage even without his speed.
Eddie swipes a foot at Barry's ankles knocking him of balance which Eddie took advantage of to tackle Barry, Barry hits the mats hard Eddie straddling his waist and pinned Barry's hands above his head. Barry blinked up at Eddie who give the man a playful smirk.
"Alright alright you win this round Eddie, But I'll get you next time" Barry stated with a nervous laugh hoping Eddie would get off his lap before curtain parts of Barry's anatomy made themselves known.
"You would have stood a better chance if you weren't so distracted. Where was your head there?"
"Right here Eddie, don't worry so much. You know I have a habit of spacing at random."
Eddie frowns down at Barry shifting slightly to get a closer look at him which god if that didn't make his mind torture him with images. Barry could feel his cock start to swell. He needed to get Eddie off of him.
"Have you eaten Barry. You space more when your blood sugar is low."
"I am hungry, forgot to eat lunch do to case work. How about we go get something later?"
Eddie shifts off of him and help Barry up.
"Sound like a plan Bar. You're place or mine?"
"Which ever. Movies?"
"Hm we can watch the movie version of Wicked I know that's one of your favorites."
"That it is. My place then?"
"Sounds like. Chinese?"
"Obviously".
"Allen! Thawn!"
"Captain" Barry and Eddie say in unison.
"Thawn, Joe's been looking for you. Barry case file on the Ualmatec robbery case."
"Right the file was just waiting on one last test which will be done in..." Barry pauses and checks his phone clock.
"Five minutes".
Barry watches Eddie leaves unable to help the quick scanning of his form only to hear his Captain clearing is throat.
His eyes dart back to a clearly amused David. Barry and The gruff Police captain were actually friends as of late. Surprisingly enough. Like Eddie he was a support system when he came out as gay.
"Not a word".
"Looked like you were going to panic when he pinned you" David teased.
Barry glared at him. Though it had no heat to it.
"You would to if say Rob pinned you."
"You are aware you technically admitted your feelings for him with that comparison right."
"Not going to let this go are you?"
"Not a chance. You should tell him".
"Oh sure tell my completely straight friend whom is the ex of my adoptive sister that I'm in love with him. Sure that would go over well."
David follows the frustrated CSI to his lab.
"Come on Barry there is a chance he would understand, besides there's always a chance he is Bi."
"Have you see that man."
"Yes I also saw him keep you pinned for far longer then actually needed. Even after you gave up he kept you pinned to ask if you've eaten and why you were spaced out."
"I think he did that so I couldn't dodge the question. I get antsy about people asking about my health."
"Or he likes you and is waiting for you to make a move."
"It's me Captain. I'm awkward, clumsy, shy and nervous when it comes to feeling admissions. I tend to bottle that stuff up till I explode."
"I noticed but you can't avoid this forever."
"I don't want to risk the friendship. He and I developed a strong one. He was there in the aftermath of the betrayal of my mentor. You and him there when I came out and my family not handling to well. There when my father got out of jail finally and chose to leave the city."
"And he will still be there if you tell him the truth Barry. Give the man some credit. Even if he doesn't feel the same, he wont let it destroy your friendship."
Barry finishes the case file and hands it to David.
"If and that's a very big if, He actually shows signs of being Bi then I'll consider telling him. But that's all I have to say on this issue."
"Fine fine, I'll leave it alone. Just want you two to be happy. Lord knows you need something to go right".
Barry rolls his eyes as David walks out. He sits down head in his hands for a moment before setting to work on the next file.
Later that night Barry orders the usual party order from his and Eddies favorite Chinese place and set the movie to the start screen. It didn't take long for Eddie to arrive with his usual big charming grin in place. Barry returned the smile and ushered the man in. Siting down to the movie. They did what they normally did with musicals took turns sings along to their favorite characters. As they gorge themselves on food. Joking around with each other. A typical movie night for him and Eddie.
A week passes and David and Eddie walk into Barry's lab while he was working.
"Hey Bar" Eddie greets.
Barry looks up and greets the Duo with a grin.
"What's going on?"
"No idea Captain here wanted to talk to us".
"Rob has decided he wants you and Eddie to come to our place for dinner and drinks on Friday. Something about spending more time with my friends".
Barry chuckled "He's just happy your being more social" he teases making Eddie snicker and David huff.
"Yeah yeah Friday at eight pm don't be late Allen".
"Yeah yeah I'll be there".
"Same".
David walks out and Eddie decides to visit with Barry for a bit while the man works.
Friday rolls around and Barry brings his homemade blackberry cobbler which is Eddies favorite dessert. He arrived at seven forty three. But Eddie was already here as well.
He knocks on the door and Rob answers.
"Barry great you made it" He greets.
"Of coarse and I even brought homemade dessert".
Rob takes the large dish and guides Barry inside.
"Look boys the man bakes!"
"What did you make this time Bar?" Eddie asks.
"Blackberry Cobbler".
"Yes, my favorite."
David and Rob share a look and Barry just chuckles.
"Please like you don't eat any dessert I make like a starved man" Barry teased and Eddie gives a mock offended look.
"I can't help it, you're a damn good baker and an even better cook."
Barry turns red at the admission.
"I...I'm not really that good Eddie. Don't over exaggerate."
"Barry you could have become a professional chef if you wanted to".
David snickers at Barry turned even more red and Rob just looked amused as he set the dish on the counter. Barry takes a seat next to Eddie on the couch and Rob hands him a beer.
"So Barry you bake, you cook, your a genius in science and you can hold your own in a fight. Anything else you can do?"
"He can sing too, he has an amazing voice".
"Oh I want to hear" Rob said from the kitchen.
"You just had to say that didn't you" Barry pouts at Eddie making him laugh.
"Its an amazing talent Barry."
"Well you sing too. Can even keep up with me in quite a few of the lower register songs."
"Dude you can hit the notes in defying gravity."
"Oh come on Barry sing." David teased making Rob and Eddie laugh and Barry glare at him.
"Barry" Eddie calls and Barry looks at him and he hands him two glass tubs the size of shots with a dark red color.
"Caitlin gave this to you?"
"Its the newest version. The last one lasted an hour she thinks this one will work for you."
"What is it" David asked curiously.
"The only way I can get drunk. I'm immune to the effects of alcohol typically. Eddie is most likely giving it to me cause he wants me to sing a specific song."
Barry downs one vile and coughs "Fucking hell that's toxic."
Eddie snickers at the reaction before whispering the song in Barry's ear making him turn red. From the song or him being so close David couldn't tell but it was amusing.
Barry grabs his phone with with sigh and finds the song Eddie requested.
"Blame that one" Barry mutters pointing to Eddie
Barry stands and hits playing and starts singing shut up and dance with me with David, Rob and Eddie looking thoroughly entertained and impressed. When the song ends they clap.
"Damn Allen man of many skills".
"More like I'm addicted to musicals and sang along a lot from a very young age".
"Dinner is served" Rob states and serves as Barry downs another vile cringing at the taste.
They make small talk as they eat and joke around. Things were calm and light hearted but
Barry's slightly buzzed mind couldn't stop torturing him with thoughts of Eddie.
After dinner and the Dessert which Barry was praised for. They head back to the living room.
"Oh David lets all play a game".
"Like what?"
"We take turns asking each other questions. You have to give the truthful answer or take a shot." Rob explained pulling a bottle of whiskey from the cupboard.
Eddie pulls out a box of viles with a smirk.
"I have a feeling you two planned this behind me and David's back" Barry muttered eyeing the speedster proof shots.
"Nope I brought them because you deserve to loosen up sometimes and haven't gotten to in over a year. No clue all of them would come in handy though."
Barry shrugs though was a bit nervous about this little game.
"Ok then who asks the first question?"
"Barry why don't you start".
Barry grins and glances at David.
"What was your first thought when you interviewed me for the CSI position?"
Rob chuckled at David as he already knew.
"I was wondering if you were lying about your age."
Barry pouts at that making Eddie laugh.
"Eddie how do you feel about Joe's reaction to Barry coming out."
"He was being unreasonable yeah Barry pretended to love Iris romantically, but can you blame him life wasn't the best for Barry. Of coarse he'd be terrified of coming out and adding another target to his back. Joe was being a dick".
David and Rob nods in agreement.
"Barry? How did you feel waking up from that coma?"
Barry winced before sighing.
"Honestly confused, Lost, terrified and wondering why I didn't have a mark on my body after being hit head on by a bolt of lightening and tossed into chemicals. I woke up in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by people I did not know and music. Things were different and I was not handling it well."
"Rob your turn to ask a question."
"Barry do you have feelings for someone?"
"Yes. Hmmm Eddie, what was the most entertaining arrest you had?"
"Hmm I'd have to say the one where the bag jacker was being chased by the reclusive CSI".
Barry pouts "mean".
David and Rob laugh at the two.
"Lets see Allen, What was your first thought when you met Eddie?"
Barry turned red and quickly downed a shot making David smirk smugly, Eddie rose an eyebrow curiously and Rob looked like he was trying not to laugh.
"Barry what was the most interesting case you worked on?"
"Hm the unofficial one in star city, let me tell you that was...something. Met Oliver Queen, got asked if my parents knew I was there. Jerk. Found the man who stole from his company for him. Some dude that was juiced up on some strength enhancement drug. If I had not seen meta's after I woke up I would say it was the most super human thing I've seen. But now we got all sorts of weird out there."
"Eddie do you have anyone you have taken a romantic interest in."
"Yes".
Barry has to force himself not to react cause that was news to him. Eddie never said he was interested in anyone and they were really close nowadays. Barry tries to think of a generally harmless question.
"Rob, What did you first think of David when you met him?"
"Good question Allen" David praised waiting for Rob to respond.
"Hmm I thought he was a rather cocky, and stubborn man but he was also nice and very attractive".
Barry chuckled at the blush on David face at how his husband described him.
David thinks for a moment and sighs.
"Barry who do you have a crush on?"
Barry tenses dramatically. Before he takes another shot. Making Eddie pout this time. David looks frustrated and Barry glared at him in warning.
"Do we personally know whom it is?" Eddie asks.
"Yes" Barry admitted unable to refusing answering him.
"Oh goodie lets see Are you close to this person?" Rob asked innocently.
"Yes".
"Eddie who do you like romantically?" Barry asked trying to get the attention of him.
Eddie also takes a shot making David and Rob share an exasperated look.
"Eddie are you close to the person".
"Yes".
"Barry, Why you wont tell us who it is?"
"Because it's not like I have a chance, as far as I know he is straight."
Eddie frowns at the response trying to think of who it was.
"Eddie is the one your interested in Male or female?"
"Male".
Barry chokes on his beer and stares at Eddie incredulously.
"You're BI!"
"Wait you didn't know that? I thought you did."
"No I didn't Eddie the only one I have ever seen you interested in was Iris."
"Mans got a point Eddie, you showed no signs of liking Males."
"Huh well surprise I'm Bi."
"Eddie why wont you tell us who you like?"
"Because I doubt he would like me like that."
"Eddie do we know who it is?"
"Yes".
"I swear your friends are right clueless".
"I'm aware really aware, I've been trying to get Barry to tell the man for weeks."
"Wait you know who Barry likes?"
"Is that your question?"
"yes".
"Then yes, I know exactly who it is. Its painfully obvious, I'm fairly sure the whole damn precinct knows."
"How though, cause I spend a ton of time around Barry but I have no clue".
Barry takes a shot knowing the time to stop this conversation has long since past.
David and Rob stare at Eddie with blank looks.
"Eddie We got Barry to give you all the hints you need to figure it out. Now think carefully in fact you both have all the information."
"We in this room know personally both men you two like. You are both close friends with the one you like. Barry thought the guy he likes was straight and Eddie you thought the one you like wouldn't like you like that."
"I am no where near drunk enough for this conversation" Barry muttered.
"Heres an idea. Each of you write the name of the one you have feeling for and put it in an envelope and hand it to each other. Then tomorrow when you both wake up, read it" Rob suggested and Barry sighs.
"Fuck it, why not."
"Guess that will work."
They both do as Rob suggested and head to their respective homes after saying their goodbyes.
"Think we did the right thing?"
"If we didn't step in those two would dance around each other like idiots without ever once coming clean. They just needed the push."
"I suppose".
The next morning Barry wakes up a bit of a mess and looks over at his clock. Noon. Thank god he was off today. He sees the envelope on his nightstand from last night and takes a deep breath. Opening the envelop and in surprisingly neat handwriting.
Barry Allen
Barry's eyes widen in disbelief. Wondering if he was dreaming.
Eddie groans his head pulsing in time with his heartbeat. He glances at the alarm clock. Which informed him that it was about noon. He then spots the envelope from last night. He shakily opens it and in the familiar scrawl of Barry's handwriting.
Eddie Thawn
Eddie had to read it five times for it to sink in and when it did a pleased grin spread across his face. He quickly gets showered and dressed. Ready for the day, when a knock sounds at the door. When he opens it, He is happy to see Barry on the other side with Coffee and doughnuts. Eddie takes them and sets them on the counter before pulling a now surprised Barry into a passionate kiss. After finally pulling away Eddie smiles.
"I have been wanted to do that for far to long."
Barry's smile was fond and happy.
"I love you Eddie".
"I love you too Barry"
