Hey everyeverycreature! What's up!?

So I know I have another MLP story about Sandbar and Yona, but to be honest, I got writer's block on how to continue that story…

But, I actually had this idea for quite some time now and really want to do it! Plus, since Mother's Day is coming up, this story is somewhat relevant!

Also, you're going to have to be familiar with my other MLP stuff in order to understand what's going to happen in this story!

With that…

Chapter 1: Leaving Flurry in Charge

"Oh sweetie, you remember that you have the meeting with the royal advisors at…" Cadance began to her young daughter, Princess Flurry Heart, who calmly replied…

"At 5 PM, just before I have dinner." Flurry finished. "I know mom, you went over it like three times already." Flurry rolled her eyes with a smile as she held onto some bags with her magic as mother and daughter walked down the steps of the crystal palace.

"Right…" Cadance sighed as they finally got down to ground level and trotting towards a waiting carriage where some guards and Prince Shining Armor were. "I'm just so worried sweetie, this is really the first time your father and I are leaving you in charge of the kingdom for an extended amount of time."

"Mom, we talked about this, if I'm going to rule the Crystal Empire by myself one day without you and dad, I need to be prepared." Flurry reminded her mother.

It has been some years since Flurry Heart was officially crowned the next princess of the Crystal Empire, but she still shared co-rulership with her parents, so that she wouldn't be overwhelmed right away and would have an easier time with the transition. And well, Flurry's parents, Cadance and Shining Armor were going to Canterlot for a week to visit Flurry's auntie and ruler of Equestria, Princess Twilight Sparkle. And this would give Flurry a chance to show her parents she could do everything required of her by herself.

"Cadance, Flurry will be fine, she knows what to do." Shining Armor spoke as he heard the two's conversation. "Now we better get a move on if we don't want to miss the next train to Canterlot."

"Have a great time mom and dad, please make sure to tell Auntie Twily I miss and love her." Flurry told her parents as she helped the two pack their last bags.

"Of course sweetie." Shining Armor smiled as he came froward to hug his daughter and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Good luck sweetie, I know you'll do a great job while we're gone for the week.

"Thanks dad, love you." Flurry said as her father got into the carriage as Cadance still needed to get on.

"Oh and sweetie, about the Saddle Arabian visit tomorrow…" Cadance began, but Flurry cut her mother off.

"Mom, I got it, we're prepared for everything here, don't worry." Flurry calmed her mother as she gave Cadance a kiss on the cheek. "Just relax in Canterlot, I'll be fine."

"Alright sweetie, see you in a week." Cadance sighed as she carried into the carriage as Flurry closed the door with her magic as the guards pulling it began to trot their way to the train station as Flurry and her parents waved goodbye to each other.

As the carriage disappeared from view, going down the streets of the Crystal Empire, Flurry returned back to the crystal palace, to get back to her duty as princess as she entered her home, being met at the entrance by a light purple feathered female griffon wearing guard armor.

"Your highness, you look happy." The griffon commented.

"Indeed I am Grace." Flurry replied. "With my parents gone for the week and my husband and daughter still in Ponyville for the next few days, all I have to worry about is being a princess."

Along with being a daughter and a princess, Flurry was also happily married to Pound Cake, the pegasus son of Mr. And Mrs. Cake in Ponyville, the two having a sweet little filly by the name of Cinnamon Heart, so that added being a wife and mother to Flurry's list of roles. However those two parts she didn't mind much, she loved Pound and Cinnamon and those two provided a relaxing escape from her duties as princess. However, her husband and daughter were also currently away, spending some time in Ponyville for an extended visit to Pound's parents as well as Cinnamon's grandparents.

"So, are the preparations for the Saddle Arabians' visit almost finished?" Flurry asked Grace.

"Yes, your highness, the kitchen staff told me they need your final approval for our guests' meals, but other than that, all you have to worry about is running things as normal." Grace answered.

"Excellent, than lets get to it." Flurry eager to get her day started.

And the rest of the day was a little busy for Flurry since her parents weren't helping her, but she managed as well as she could, performing her duties to the best of her ability as by the time she finished the meeting with the royal advisors, she was exhausted. As Flurry exited the throne room, stretching out her legs and wings, she made her way to the dining room, where her dinner would be waiting for her. As Flurry arrived, the cooks brought it out as Flurry took her seat at the table, which was rather quiet except for the setting of the plates and utensils.

"Weird without my family here…" Flurry thought as usually, her parents, husband and daughter would also be here so they could all enjoy a nice family meal together.

"Is everything alright your highness?" The head cook asked as he noticed Flurry's expression.

"Yes…" Flurry snapping out of her current thoughts. "Actually, can you please get another plate set up and send someone to bring the guard captain here."

"Right away your highness." The head cook nodded, with clear confusion in his voice as he went to carry out the order.

As another plate full of food came out, Grace came though the dining room doors, to see what her princess wanted.

"I came as fast as I can, your highness, is everything okay?" Grace asked, worried something wasn't right.

"I'm fine Grace, in fact I would like to ask if you would join me, I am a little lonely and could use some company now." Flurry politely requested as Grace wasn't one to refuse her princess.

"Sure thing, your highness." Grace smiled as she took off her helmet and saw down next to Flurry.

"Oh and Grace, we're friends and alone here, you can just call me Flurry." Flurry reminded her guard captain as Grace sat down and Flurry continued the conversation as the two began to eat their dinner. "So, how are your parents doing?"

"They're doing alright despite their jobs being in different towns, mom's having fun teaching at the School of Friendship, says great things about her students. And dad's still a great captain, much better than me." Grace reported.

"Oh come on, don't sell yourself short Grace, you're just as good as he is." Flurry commented. "Maybe even better than him, but don't tell your dad I told you that."

"My beak is shut your… I mean, Flurry." Grace corrected herself and gave a little chuckle.

Flurry chuckled back as she continued to enjoy her dinner and fun conversation with her friend and as the two were done, Flurry made her way to the palace's library. There Flurry enjoyed some late evening reading, having gotten her love of reading from her Auntie Twily as she laid down on a nice soft chair, with a lit fire in the fireplace. Reading in the quiet place, at peace, Flurry continued to do so until it was completely nighttime and Flurry yawned several times, signaling it was time to go to bed, after all she needed to get up bright and early for the big day tomorrow.

"I hope tomorrow's just as good as today." Flurry wished as she came out of the library and trotted to her bedroom, where a couple of the nighttime guards were posted outside her door.

"Goodnight, your highness." One of the guards told Flurry.

"Thank you." Flurry replied as she entered her bedroom, looking froward for a goodnight's sleep as she first went to her mirror and took off her royal attire, finishing with her crown as she laid it gently on its own pillow. "One day down." Flurry assured herself as she looked at her smiling reflection before heading to her bed and making the room dark, she put her covers over her body, ready for a goodnight's sleep.

Little did Flurry realize that tomorrow would be a complete opposite of today and things would quickly go downhill…

And I'll leave it that!
