The first of a few oneshots I'm planning to write under the series title of 'Vexation'
The chronologial order will be updated at some point :)
"Look, Zim, you're becoming increasingly more frustrating-"
"But Zim has the strong urge to converse with the Gaz about… the flair."
The purple-haired girl closed her locker. Her deadpan gaze shifted toward the silhouette of the lamely disguised Irken. With a brow raised, she corrected him, "The fair."
"Yes, yes. No need to repeat me," He cleared his throat, "When the Gaz-beast was assaulting Zim with various animals in the 'petting zoo', Zim felt himself… not hating the experience as much as he should have. A feeling I'm sure is not mutual and something that is utterly repulsi-"
"I had fun too," she scoffed, "It's okay to have fun, Zim. It's not like you're actually going to destroy the Earth or whatever. You're stuck here, might as well do something with your time."
"WHA-" Zim dramatically became offended, "Zim will destroy the Earth! HE'LL DO IT RIGHT NOW!"
With a snort, Gaz smirked, "I'm sure."
The invader stuttered. But before he could reply, she'd turned away and started walking to class. With a scoff, Zim followed closely behind, dodging students through the dimly lit hall. Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks. He didn't notice this and bumped into her back.
"Ack-…" He looked up, "Dib-meat!"
"ZIM."
Gaz stepped in front of him. She could not be bothered with their spectacle today, "I swear, if you two get into another fight-"
The tall, black-clad 'paranormal investigator' glared through her, "What are you doing to my sister this time?"
"YOU-" The green boy tried to push past Gaz, who blockaded him, "YOU RUINED ZIM'S FUN!"
"WELL, YOU'VE RUINED MY LIFE!"
"ZIM HAS DONE NOTHING-"
"ZIM!" Gaz grabbed onto his arm as he pushed past. She dug her nails into the fabric and grit her teeth, "you better shut your stupid yap."
Watching his sister try to control the Irken only heightened Dib's rage, "You've ruined EVERYTHING, Zim! My life was already horrible enough, and you came and made it WORSE!"
"Zim has done NOTHING to directly affect your large-headed self! YOU were the one who started attacking Zim the day he landed on this STINKING PLANET!"
Zim had shoved Gaz to the side, she hissed at them, "the both of you better stop before I-"
"Because you're an ALIEN! You wanted to DESTROY the Earth!"
"Zim is just doing his MISSION! Your disgusting head of smell just makes things MORE PAINFUL! It gives you NO EXCUSE TO RUIN ZIM'S 'FUN'!"
"When your job is destroying my home, I do! You're a nothing, Zim! And you deserve none more than what you are!"
Suddenly, something snapped within the Irken. Both the Membrane siblings saw it, Gaz more quickly than Dib, who was revelling in his supposed victory. In one fluid motion, the invader bared his teeth, lifted his fist and slammed it into the teen's face with the strength of a thousand Irk-years in training. It all happened so quickly, so efficiently.
Gaz stepped back, eyes wide. The two enemies have had their fair share of fist fights and arguments in the past. Everyone in Skool was used to it, her especially. But something about this time seemed different. She'd never been scared of Zim, but all of a sudden, she wasn't so sure.
Dib had stumbled to the side and leant up against the lockers. His lip now busted and bleeding down his chin. Wiping the blood onto his hand, he inspected it with shock. Anger soon took over. With a swift, fluid motion, he punched back, months of pent-up rage released in one fell strike.
With foresight and experience behind him, the irken invader nimbly dodged the blow.
The student behind Zim, however, did not.
With a shout, the short brunette male was thrown to the floor.
The entire hall became witness. Everything ceased, everyone became silent.
Dib felt his heart stop. Zim glanced at the student unlucky enough to be caught in the crossfire, then back at Dib. He sneered.
The paranormal investigator felt himself falling apart. He hurt an innocent, the kind of people he swore to protect. It took him a few moments to get his bearing before falling onto his knees and checking to see if the kid was okay.
He'd been completely knocked out.
Everyone stared.
Gaz stepped back before turning away and quickly leaving the scene. The attention was too much, and it wasn't even directed at her. She felt like throwing up.
The Irken saw her go from the corner of his eye. Suddenly oblivious to situation, he turned and chased after her.
Super short and kind of rushed, I know, but it was an interesting idea to look at and expand on.
