Kara had known that it was a bad idea to take Zee bowling.
A worse idea was to take Babs and her friend Harleen with them.
Why couldn't they have taken Diana?
She was pretty sure that she was either going to kill Zee or murder Harley after his bowling game.
Zee had been complaining about the fact that her nails would be ruined after the game and Babs was telling her about her new nail polish that she had created and offered the magician to test it.
The kryptonian just rolled her eyes and lifted up a ball, she always lifted the heaviest one.
People always stared at her when she did that, it was not her fault that it was the only ball that she could lift without having a real risk of breaking it.
It didn't take long before Harleen started getting on her nerves.
"Why did you lift that one?" The blonde girl started asking in her annoying voice" Are you that strong? How are you that strong?"
"I lift weights" She snapped and received a look from Barbara.
Gee, it wasn't her fault that they had invited someone who wasn't on their superhero team, she refrained from saying that but just rolled her eyes and handed another, less heavy, ball to Zee.
The magician was just as annoyed by Harleen's presence but she controlled her facial expressions better, at least she didn't roll her eyes every time the blonde girl said something.
After a few minutes of discussing they decided that Harleen would play with Babs and Zee would play with Kara, it was kind of obvious that it would end up that way even though Harleen was trying to insist that the four played together.
That wasn't happening.
Ever.
Anyway, Harley was really good, surprisingly good, at bowling. Though her smile after she hit the bowling pins kind of unnerved Kara, she had seen that smile somewhere else.
"You two should play together" Babs said after a few rounds of losing against Harleen, then she added looking at the prankster "When did you get that good at bowling?"
"I have had some practice" Harleen said with a smirk.
"Yeah, you two should play together" Zee said while looking at her nails "If I keep playing I will totally ruin my nails beyond repair"
Harleen looked at Kara with a challenging gaze and so the kryptonian lifted a ball in response, then the other girl did the same lifting a bright red eight pound bowling ball.
"Are you sure that's the right size bowling ball for you?"
"Of course I'm sure" Harleen responded "At least I didn't scour the entire alley to find a sixteen-pound ball…twice"
The kriptonian girl scoffed and said "We are on"
After a few rounds both girls were equally scored, and every second that passed Kara was starting to get stressed.
Things like this got her competitive side out, and Babs knew that it was about time to let Harleen's competitive spirit out.
Though for some reason it hadn't happen yet.
"You are going to lose Quinzel" Kara said grabbing another ball.
"No, you are" The other blonde said throwing her ball towards the pines aggressively.
An employee asked "Would you like to…?"
"Set another lane, now" Kara said commandingly.
Meanwhile their friends who had only intended to have a short break were starting to get somewhat boring, specially Babs who had intended to play with Harleen since laying with Zee was no challenge.
"Do you think that they will ever get tired?" Zee asked while uploading a pic to her Instagram profile.
"I don't know" The bat admitted "Kara won't get tired soon, she is finally playing against someone who likes playing"
The magician just rolled her eyes and responded "It's not like that I don't like bowling, I just had my manicure yesterday"
"Yes, of course"
The purple haired girl looked at their friend and…Babs friend, she muttered "At least she is having fun"
"Who?"
"Kara, she usually tries to make us feel comfortable while playing with us, the only one who could manage her rhythm is Diana but she was studying for History" Zee commented "And Harleen seems to be oblivious to her…strength"
Babs opened her eyes in surprise and said "Maybe I should suggest that they end their game…Kara is getting stressed"
"She doesn't handle defeat very well"
"She handles ties even worse"
The redhead was about to stand up and suggest that she and Harleen went comic book shopping when Giganta tore the doors apart and yelled "Cash, now!"
The cashier just handed her whatever he had in the registering machine while the redheaded villain just
Babs threw a nacho to Kara since both blondes were far too focused in their game and pointed at Giganta with her head, the villain had left to search for another store to rob.
"Oh!I think Zee and I should leave" The kryptonian said "I have to buy…greek yogurt…from Midvale"
"Yeah! I have to feed my…cats, sorry Babs I'call you later" Harleen said "Do you want to play again?"
"Sure"
Zee just groaned, she knew Kara would drag her to the newly found competition.
Babs was just happy that her friends were getting kind of along.
