Chapter 01: The Hunter & The Prey
Neverland
Danelle:
The first time I met Peter Pan was not the first time he met me.
I was used to waking up in strange places. Never knowing if the place I chose that night was safe or not to sleep. Eating wasn't a big deal, I usually broke into houses when the owners were gone and helped myself. I only steal food, I'm no thief, well not really. My first memory was when I woke up on the sidewalk late one evening. I had no memory of my past before that. I'm sixteen now, that was five years ago. One day, I will discover who I am and where I'm from.
I blinked, taking in a deep breath as warm sunlight gently woke me up. The sound of ocean waves made me smile. Wait, ocean waves?
I sat bolt upright taking in my surroundings. A small river cut through an island into the ocean. I was on a sandy beach with a mix of forest and jungle spread out in front of me. I had fallen asleep in a back alley.
"What the..." I started.
It was pretty and all, but how did I get here? I sometimes used my magic to jump between realms, only to knock myself unconscious from the strain. Too much magic too soon. This wasn't my doing.
A boy in green appeared in front of me, just on the opposite side of the river. I stood up, wiping sand off my hands on my jeans.
"Did you really think you could get away again?" Peter asked.
"Who the hell are you? Where am I?" I asked.
Peter paced in front of me, "Feigning amnesia? Nice try. Where did you go this time Danelle?"
I stared at the boy for a moment, wondering what kind of mind game this was. "How do you know my name? I've never met you in my life," I explained slowly.
"Fine, play this game if you must. It won't save you from being punished for running away again." Peter said.
I held up my hands, "You know what? You're crazy and I'm out of here."
I turned to walk in the opposite direction. Peter raised his eyebrows at me in surprise. A blonde boy carrying a club appeared out of nowhere on my right. He was taller than the boy in green and had a scar over his eye.
Peter sighed, "Put her in the cage Felix, I'll deal with her later."
Felix had a weird smirk on his lips when something hit me in the neck. I felt woozy and took a step back before everything went black. I never did feel the ground break my fall.
