A/N: If y'all play Among Us on the North American server, you might find me in the English lobbies under AZTECBOMB. Also, apparently there was a new map added, but I can't play it. I just watch my brother play in it and try not to be too jealous... Doesn't work very well TvT.
Also if you aren't here from the challenge, you should go check out the Writers Anonymous forum. It's the top general forum where you can talk about anything that has to do with the site, writing, there is even a vent (as in your feelings, not in the game LOL) thread! I don't post too much, I just read all the threads, reacting and responding in my brain…creepy stalker…ANYWAY, on with the story!
The story takes place on the Polus map by the way. And for a touch of realism, bodies don't disappear and they don't just teleport to meetings.
Purple Impostors POV
"Please, you don't have to do this! No… NO STOP! LEAVE HIM ALONE! AUUUUGGHHHhhh."
Infiltration complete. Captives… terminated. Memories downloaded. Mission start.
"Hey sweetie! How was your day?" "Great Mom! When I grow up, I'm gonna be an astronaut, just like you!"
tstststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststs
"Hey Purp, what are your tasks?" Yellow asks. Hmmm. I was attempting to adjust to this new form, but it seems I have fallen under suspicion. What to say… Purple was bad with computers.
"I don't even know. I'm trying to figure out how to work this stupid thing." That seems to have placated Yellow, for having accessed Purple's memory files, Yellow had known of Purple's technological ignorance.
"Well, just be careful. There are reports of aliens impersonating crewmates and slaughtering everyone. You shouldn't stand around where nobody would find you."
"Ouch. I will keep an eye out for anything sus then." As Yellow turns to leave, I reach out and snap her neck. 'Maybe take your own advice.' I quickly check to make sure no one saw, and I turn out the lights so that I could leave without detection. I notice that the cameras are on, so I go into Security to find Red, my compatriot.
"If anyone inquires, I was here the whole time." "Hmm, you move fast don't you Purple? Well, seeing as there is no point in having two people stare at nothing, I'm going to go 'fix the lights.'" 'Damn that guy, acting like this is a game.'
Just as the lights start to flicker on, my arm computer starts beeping, informing me that someone has called an emergency meeting. As I head toward office, I glance into Electrical to see the dead body of Orange near the panel. 'Red must have killed him just as he finished turning lights back on.'
As I come into the Office, I see that everyone who has not been murdered is present. "What's up guys?" I ask in an attempt to seem innocent.
"Two people are DEAD!" Pink says, appearing to have an increased heart rate. "I was in Office logging into the system, and something told me to check everyone's vitals. Yellow and Orange are GONE!"
"WHAT?!"
"OH SHIT!"
"Are we gonna die?!"
"SHUT UP!" The chaos stops the moment Teal (Cyan) raised her voice. She was second in command for Yellow, as Purple's memory shows, and also Purple's best friend. "We can only assume that the reports are true. There is an alien Impostor among us, maybe more than one. The best thing for us to do is complete our tasks and try to make it home alive. Keep an eye out for anything sus, and call your emergency the SECOND you find a dead body. Are we clear?" I feel an unfamiliar sensation of what must be –
"Hey kiddo, whatcha buildin'?" "Hi Mom! I'm making a model of your ship! I wanna see space with you someday!"
"Purp? Hey Purp! Come on, Violet, say something!" I open my eyes to see Teal standing over me in a now empty Office. I've never heard of any reports of blackouts as a result of memory downloads… It'd be a good idea to stick with Cyan, and build a cover.
"What happened?" I say, as she helps me to stand. "You blacked out after we found out about Yellow and Orange. Are you sure you're alright?" "Yeah, but I think we should stay together to watch each other's backs."
"Are you sure I'm not gonna suck out your brains while your tryna download your files?" She teases. Good. Jokes like that means she doesn't suspect me. "Come on Tiff. I've known you since kindergarten. If you'd swapped places with an alien I'm pretty sure I'd notice." As we log into the system, we discuss what tasks we have so as to complete them with maximum efficiency. That's Tiffany for you, always so efficient… Wait, shouldn't I be thinking about the best place to kill her? What's happening to me?!
"First order of business is to find out where Orange and Yellow died. If we know where they died, we can try to figure out who did it based on who came into the Office when." Good LORD, I wish I'd remembered HOW efficient she was before killing Yellow. Although I'm sure her human emotions will prevent her reasoning from suspecting me… Almost as bad as Purple' are from preventing me from killing her in Specimen Labs! It appears to be the best place to kill someone and not be discovered, according to my map.
"But Mamma, my birthday is coming up, and you promised!" I know sweetie, but I won't be gone longer than a week. We just need to finish prepping the base on Polus for the research team. I'll be back in time to throw you the biggest birthday party a 10-year-old has ever had!"
As we emerge from the Decontamination room, we find Lime's body right next to the door. "Oh God! Quick Vi, go see if you can find who did it while I call it in!" I dutifully run outside to "try" to find out who did it just in time to find Red poking his head out of the vent.
"What the hell are you DOING Purple?! You should have killed her already! Don't you realize how important this is?! The humans are starting to overstep their borders. This is life or death! You need to remember why you volunteered for this job."
tstststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststs
"The humans are coming to close to our borders. Their arrogance in thinking they can control the universe will tear us all apart. We need you to get in there and sabotage their efforts. Keep them at bay. Your discretion is advised. However, you are authorized to use any force you deem necessary."
As I leave the briefing, I attempt to calm myself down. The humans deserve an unbiased agent deciding whether or not they should die. Were it up to me, we would just blow up the whole damn planet of those disgustingly defective creatures.
"Still no clues! Damn this is frustrating!" Teal and I head into Weapons, I try to get up the nerve to kill her. What's holding me back? The broken memories of a HUMAN?! No… the memory of that poor child, whose fate I have made similar to my own.
She finishes shooting asteroids, probably not realizing that she just wiped out entire civilizations of semi-organic life forms. We move into Communications so that I can upload my data onto the main server. As we wait for it to finish, Black comes in, with Red close behind.
Red stares at me, telling me with his eyes exactly what he wants me to do. His tentacles come out of nowhere, and he slams Black into the wall as Teal starts screaming.
"What are you waiting for Purp?! Finish the job!" Knowing that after a kill, we need some time to reshape ourselves, I have to make a split-second decision.
I slap the alarm on my wrist computer and tackle Red to the ground. As I drag him towards the Office, I attempt to ignore him cursing me out, pleading with me to remember my parents, what the humans did.
After everyone gathers, I immediately take charge. "Red and I are the Impostors. Teal and I watched him kill Black. I want you all to understand WHY we did what we did though. You humans are overstepping the boundaries put in place by a higher power even then US. You will bring destruction on the universe if you do not stop trying to control everything." Everyone stays silent through my confession, seemingly confused as to why I would consign myself to death. "If you are wondering my motives, I know Purple's mind. I cannot let her child live life as meaningless as I have led mine." I turn to Teal, with tears in my eyes. It seems that Purple's emotions are shining through into me. "Throw her a birthday party she will never forget." With that, I jump into the lava, dragging Red with me.
"Mom… that last crew that went to Polus didn't come back alive. I may be ten, but I know how dangerous your job has become. Promise me you'll come back." "Lilac… If you really know how dangerous my job is, then you know I can't promise that. But you have to make life mean something. Live with kindness. Let your light touch others, and the world might become a beautiful place someday."

Teal's POV
"…And we hereby present Lilac Purple with the Purple Heart, in honor of the service her mother, Violet Purple, has done for this country."
I watch Lil up on the stage, doing an amazing job at not crying as she is given her mother's medal. As she comes down the steps, I give her the biggest hug I can without crushing her. She returns my hug, finally realizing her mother is gone, and starts crying hysterically. "Happy birthday Lilac."
A/N Welp… ok. This is a way different than what I usually write. Way more serious. For anyone who was as confused reading it as I was writing it:
Italics were the memories of Violet Purple
Bold Italics were the memories of Impostor Purple
The lines of ts stand for time skip
Anyone who noticed my reference to my other story in the upper A/N, you are my virtual best friend! :) And to anyone who's interested, I plan on writing a one-shot collection based on my experiences in the public lobbies.
Also, you know that feeling when you want to double kill, but the other guy wasn't paying attention/doesn't care, and you get killed? Yeah. So do I. And the hilarity of Purple's kid getting the Purple heart for what Purple did didn't pass me by either. LOL.
Thanks for reading, and hope you have a great day!
