Totally your call though, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do.
I decided to write a diary for my character in the game.
The Character in my story is me.
My character is the slowest explorer out of his three rivals. There are many reasons as to why this is.
He is very sociable and talks to whoever will listen to him.
He carries many items which causes his item bag to become very heavy which slows him down.
He gets involved in fighting gang members like Team Rocket and becoming an enermy of "The Boss" Giovanni.
Not all his pokemon evolve. Unlike the other trainers pokemon that belong to his rivals.
His Pikachu follows him. Instead of staying in his pokeball.
Which brings me to my next point, I get the same pokémon Ash Ketchum does in the anime but I have my own rules here and there;
I do not release pokémon.
Any pokemon that follows Ash, I catch and keep. (Haunter, Larvitar)
Any pokemon Ash gets from trading I catch in the wild and keep the pokemon he traded and the pokemon he gained in the trade.
So the diary is about my thoughts and feeling before and during my journey through Kanto.
I also call my dairy Ash. As a references to what my journey represence and follows.
I also talk about my feelings towards my rivals and friends. The Gym Leaders, the Elite 4 members, and all the trainers I bump into on my journey.
