This is my very first fanfic and this AU will be set in the world of Remnant, some of the campers are teenagers, Max and Nikki are like 12 and Neil is like 13. Several of the campers are going to be different in a certain way, I'm going to base most of their personalities on the characters of RWBY. I don't own the show Camp Camp and RWBY, all of these shows are made by writers and animators of Rooster Teeth.
Volume 1: Chapter 1 Part 1
Prologue
At Grimm Island, it was a quiet and peaceful night and no Grimm in sight, the only thing we can see were the stars shimmering in the night sky. But the silence of the night was broken immediately as somebody's voice can be heard within the shadows of the trees.
*spectral voice*
"Now just at the edges of Lake Lilac, there are multiple campgrounds surrounding it. These camps were made to prepare the huntresses and huntsmen in training, I think? I hardly remember a couple of things now."
The person who spoke pauses and tries to remember more of their past, they struggle in doing so.
…
…
"This was a way—nno a chance to get accepted by combat schools all over Remnant. But mainly, these camps were established to keep watch on the island at the center of the lake, the island I am on right now... Grimm Island."
…
…
"Th-t-that is why professional huntresses and huntsmen are stationed in these various camps as camp counselors.… as to not only teach the children how to fight but also protect them from incoming danger, to slay the Grimm as soon as they cross Lake Lilac and when they set foot on their camp. Before the Grimm can go any further to populated areas across Sleepy Peak. I need to remember this or else..."
The individual hiding in the shadows paused for the final time and proceeds to look at Camp Campbell.
…
…
…
*sigh*
"Many kids get a chance to be a huntsman.…, but some aren't as lucky as the rest."
It was a nice summer morning, even do there were monsters hiding around every corner in the forest, it was still a nice day, at least for one person in particular. We can see two people waiting at an entrance of a summer camp, one of them was a tall redheaded man who was strangely wearing a green suit and smiling with anticipation, beside him a young Faunus boy, wearing a blue hoodie and his bear ears poking through his hood. Above them was a wooden archway sign that says Camp Campbell, the sign was so well kept and clean, that you can barely tell how old it was.
The two individuals were waiting for the new campers that were arriving soon, but just a few meters away from the entrance, a deer prances onto the driveway of the camp. The deer was foraging for food, minding its own business, and suddenly was viciously swooped away by a huge black bird, leaving trickles of blood and pieces of guts on the dirt floor. The bird was a creature of Grimm, known as a Nevermore, the reason for the bird to kill the deer was to ensue panic among the campers, but as he saw the two people waiting at the entrance, it sensed no fear in them. The bird following its instincts left the area and decides not to harm them, for now.
A few seconds passed by, then the young boy speaks up.
"Well David, this place is a fucking death trap," said the jade-eyed boy.
"Hey… language Max, this place may be a death trap, but it is still a fun-loving camp where every camper gets to enjoy their summer," the redhead responded.
"Fun-loving? This place is supposed to be where huntsmen in training are taught in the summer, some kids come here to get a chance to get accepted to combat schools all around Remnant, and some of us just want to beat the shit out of monsters," said Max.
"Look, Max, I admire your determination to slay Grimm, I really do, but the life of a huntsman isn't all about combat and bloodshed. It's about helping people and protecting them from danger," said David. As David comforted Max, he wondered why Max was waiting at the entrance with him, David then questioned him.
Max then replied with a deadpan voice "Oh, just wondering what kind of campers are coming into this god-awful camp, even do there are multiple training camps to choose from in Lake Lilac." Max's response was clearly a lie, an excuse to wait for the bus with David, and wait for the right moment to sneak in it without David noticing so he could escape from this camp.
David quickly replied to him in a soft teary voice "You sure have matured a lot since last summer Max and I've never been prouder".
"AND WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN!" Max said lividly.
David then picked up Max and said to him in a sincere voice "Max, what I'm saying is that you've grown a lot for the past 2 summers because of him, I'm just glad that he could help you in controlling your powers and be somewhat of a good role model and mentor for you. The point is you've slightly grown and I can't wait to see you break out your shell and finally make some friends this summer."
Max escaped from David's hold and continue to wait for the bus, but as he reflected on what David said he was beginning to feel unsure if he has grown at all in the past couple of years, Max the cynical rebel being mature, humored him just thinking about it. But when David commented on Max's growth, he wondered where he was, the one who helped him in controlling his volatile semblance.
"Where is he anyw- "
*Bus Honk*
"They're here!" David said ecstatically.
The new campers have just arrived and Max couldn't finish his question about his mentor in time. As the bus ran over the puddle of blood and guts of the deer, David quickly sprinted in front of the bus to greet the arriving campers. But as soon as he said his first words, he immediately got hit by the bus and screamed like a high school girl.
As the bus the parked beside poor David, the door opens and the driver of the bus, an old man with a hook for a hand said "The kids are here" in a gruff old voice.
The new campers are now standing in the doorway of the bus, at the left was a green-haired girl with pigtails and at the right was a tall & nerdy kid. The girl then proceeded to hop off the bus and decided to breathe in the fresh air, but when expecting fresh mountain air she was greeted with a horrid stench of blood.
"Bleurgh" said the girl in disgust, but her attitude changed with a blink of an eye, and asked "Did the bus run over an animal, oh we're having roadkill for dinner tonight!" in a cheerful voice.
David then stood up, shaking his head to recover his senses, and started greeting the new girl. "Hello there, little lady you must be Nikki, my name is David your camp—". But his greetings were cut short again as the feral girl bit his hand with ferocity, the only thing David can do at that moment was shriek in pain.
"Excuse me, is this Weapon Smithing Camp?" said the nerdy kid concerningly.
"No silly, this is Adventure Camp, where huntsmen train to conquer the wilderness and fight feral Grimm while doing it. Unless my Mom lied to me, again." said Nikki, she then says to David "Sorry about that hand by the way, just asserting dominance, you know how it goes."
As David tries to nurse his recently bitten hand, he then points at the tall kid and says "And you must be Neil, well I can assure you that this camp can prov—". David then notices something, he can hear the bus starting up again and going in reverse fast, this is where his reflexes kicked in.
As the bus begins to ram towards David, he held out his hand and waited for the bus to make contact with it, as the bus finally caressed David's hand, he stopped it in place with ease as if the bus practically weighed nothing to him. The new arrivals were impressed with David's strength as a huntsman, but the moment was sadly ruined as the wheels started to kick dirt and blood from the deer directly at David's suit, completely ruining it.
Inside the bus we see Max attempting to steal the bus and failing, he was struggling to get his feet on the brake and gas pedal, "Stupid prepubescent legs!" Max said.
The old man who drove the bus grabbed the young boy with his hook and told Max.
"Not today, child. Only one driving this bus is me," said Quartermaster.
"Thank you, Quartermaster," said David
"You're on your own now…" Quartermaster said, as he then proceeds to grab a purple vile with crossbones and a skull symbol on it from his pockets, the vile was still oozing purple bubbles. "Well going on break, be back for the bus at noon."
Noon, another chance for Max to escape from this hellhole, without getting detected by Gwen's powers.
David then tried to continue the welcoming tour for the new campers, but as his green suit is now completely filthy and would not want to welcome the new campers in a dirty suit, he then asked Max to guide them to the Mess Hall and let Gwen do all the proper introductions.
Max then thought to himself, since he couldn't drive the bus and had to wait for the Quartermaster to drive for him at noon, he was willing to do one last thing for David before he escapes this camp.
"Sure David, I'll be sure to send them to Gwen," said Max with a grin.
As he promised David, something caught his eye in the sky, a small black entity flying by, he immediately knew what it was and his grin turns into a frown.
David nods at the new campers, then ran towards the counselors' cabin so he can change to another attire, the reason for him to wear the suit in the first place was to look formal in front of the new campers, and off he went to change into his actual huntsman attire. He ran with breakneck speed and the campers eventually lose sight of him.
"C'mon, let's go to the Mess Hall, we can probably find Gwen there and probably eat some snacks if there's any left," said Max as he walks towards the mess hall building.
"Wait." said Neil, Max then stopped his track and asked "What?"
"Weren't you trying to escape from this camp, what's stopping you from just getting on the bus now and wait for the old guy with a hook to drive you to civilization?"
As Neil asked Max that question, they hear a small "caw" sound in the distance, the trio saw a small black bird that had purple eyes but no pupils, sitting on top of the flagpole of Camp Campbell, it was staring at them as if it was waiting for the campers to make their move.
Max then let out a sigh while pointing at the bird and explained.
"Because of that…, that's one of Gwen's summons or as we call it a "Semblance", her Semblance allows her to summon ephemeral creatures to do her bidding and for this instance a bird that can survey the camp for Grimm, or any campers trying to escape. I don't know how she communicates with them, still figuring that out."
As Nikki and Neil were focusing on Max's explanation, multiple black birds appeared out of nowhere on top of the mess hall, watching the trio intently.
"And that is why I can't leave! Gwen's birds always spot me and go to warn her or something, and if she ever finds out about me running away, she summons something else to get me. And if it weren't for my short legs I could've escaped before Gwen puts her birds on patrol this morning!" said Max who is now catching his breath, and tired from his little rant.
Max being seen by the birds, let out a long sigh and begins to guide the two new campers to the mess hall to meet Gwen. The mess hall building had an insignia just hanging above the doors, the symbol itself has two real axes crossing each other and below them was a laurel wreath. This was a symbol many were all aware of in the world of Remnant, it was the symbol for Vale, the kingdom which Camp Campbell resides upon.
As Max guided the two, they wait at the mess hall's doors, they hear muffled screams and things being thrown.
"Are they okay in there?" said Neil, "Yep" Max said "Just a normal day in Camp Campbell", as they open the doors, they immediately hear a woman scream.
"Motherfucker!"
The trio awaiting at the doorway only saw complete chaos in the mess hall, there were campers throwing food, some using their semblances and some even drawing out their weapons at each other, all you can say about this scene is absolute mayhem.
"What the hell is going on?" Neil said in a worrisome tone.
Nikki grabs the two boys with him, dragging them further into the chaos, and joyfully chanted "This place is amazing!"
We now see a black woman screaming at the top of her lungs at some campers, she has purple eyes, is wearing a backless purple dress, and has Grimm tattoos all over her body.
"Space Kid, you better turn off your semblance! And stop trying to see if you can go faster than the ceiling fan!" said Gwen.
The three campers looked at the ceiling and see sparkles of light following the rotation of the ceiling fan, just trying to go faster than it, but struggles to do so, the starlight then stopped midair and suddenly transforms into a small astronaut. Gwen then caught Space Kid as he was falling, "Space kid, you're going to be the death of me." Gwen says.
Gwen then realizes Max and asked "Hey Max, where the hell is David! I need him right now. The campers are just too much today."
"He's just changing to his normal clothes, considering his suit got covered with dirt and blood," Max said nonchalantly.
"Okay…" Gwen said.
"And also, the new campers are here," Max said gesturing to the kids beside him.
"God dammit, the new campers are already here, alright then I'll go get the laserdisc." As she looks for the laserdisc, she then tells the other campers to go to the activities field for their afternoon sessions, the campers sighed and went out.
"Will somebody please talk about Weapon Smithing Camp, none of those kids look like they can make weapons let alone make a blueprint of one," Neil said.
"What about that kid who was made out of light, I bet he can make some cool weapons using his semblance!" Nikki said.
"A person with a flashy semblance doesn't mean they can make a good weapon, please," Neil said in a snobby tone.
Max followed what Gwen wanted him to do for once, but was stopped by Gwen herself who was now holding the laserdisc.
"Except for you Max," Gwen grabs Max by his hoodie and places him in the middle of the new campers.
"Why me?!" Max angrily responded.
As Gwen and Max started bickering at each other, Neil and Nikki saw a ladder drop from the ceiling behind Gwen and Max, then an old man wearing nothing but boxers and a messy shirt begins to climb down, the old man notices there were people below him so he scurried back up to change his clothes.
Gwen still scolding Max, "Well for one, you attempted to escape the camp again with the bus and David isn't here because of you. So that's why I'm going to keep an eye on you myself before you get hurt or anyone else gets hurt, Huugghhh...look Max, your semblance is hard to understand, and all I know how it works is if you get emotionally unstable your power will activate by itself."
As Gwen was about to finish scolding Max, the old man from the ceiling went down the ladder fully dressed and begins to walk behind Gwen. "Hello Campers!" said the old man, Gwen out of shock dropped the laserdisc, hitting the floor, and immediately shattered.
Gwen then facepalmed, "Hello sir, I forgot that you were still here at camp with us." and gestures to the old man in a muffled voice, "Kids, this is Cameron Campbell the founder of this camp."
Mr. Campbell waved at the new campers and asked Gwen, "By the way Grace, where's Davey have you seen him around?"
"It's Gwe—", Gwen was about to correct Cameron but was interrupted.
The Mess Hall doors opened, the person who entered was David with his new clothes. David was wearing a green jacket, a brown flannelled shirt with some suspenders, hiking boots, light brown trekking pants, and the final piece, a yellow handkerchief around his neck.
David enters the Mess Hall and sees Mr. Campbell, "Mr. Campbell you're here! I thought you were traveling around the world, fighting Grimm and saving people?!" says David ecstatically.
"Ha ha ha, well I'm certainly not hiding from the authorities if that's what you're thinking?" Mr. Campbell said.
"What?" David questioned.
"Oh, come on Davey, you think I'm going to miss the opportunity to welcome our Campbell campers to Cameron Campbell's Camp Campbell?!" Mr. Campbell said.
"You have for years, sir," Gwen said
"Haha, oh Grace, you slay me," Mr. Campbell said.
"It's Gwen."
"What did I say?"
"Hey brawny guy, is this adventure camp, right?" Nikki said interrupting the two.
"Yeah, so far every attempt of answering our question just raises more questions" Neill added
"Yay good for you, you're starting to catch on," Max said sarcastically.
"Haha, don't worry kids, these two will take you on a tour and answer any questions that you may have," Campbell pointing at the two counselors.
After Campbell assured the kids that their questions will be answered, just right outside the window Campbell sees black figures just slightly hidden in the bushes looking for something or someone. Campbell rushes towards the window and closes the curtains as quickly as possible, as to hide from the shadowy figures.
"In fact, we should go on that tour right now, all of us together, away from this spot," Campbell says pushing all of them towards the activities field.
The activities field was massive, at least the size of a football field, and campers had their own designated place to do their activities. And as they continued to walk to the field, the counselors begin to talk about how other huntsmen in the training camp differ from theirs.
David says "Now as a huntsman, they're certain skills that every huntsman needs to learn before they set off into the world, and in Lake Lilac there are multiple camps that each provide their own fun theme and one specialty to learn for a kid huntsman. But in our camp, we provide all to choose from, and not only that we also provide normal camp activities for you kids to boost morale, this is still a summer camp after all."
Gwen then proceeds to show and list down the camps that they have, and the campers who are in them.
"There's Semblance Camp," Gwen said as she gesture to Space Kid, we see him training with his semblance morphing into sparkles of starlight and tries to fly up into the sky in a flash, but hit his limit, and can only fly just above the pine trees. He stops his semblance and falls into the Styrofoam padded floors that are located all around camp for him specifically.
"Is he okay?" Neil asked.
"He's fine he does this all the time," David said in an assuring voice.
"Where did he get that spacesuit, did you guys give it to him?" Nikki said hoping to get one of her own.
Gwen responded "No we didn't actually give him that expensive-looking spacesuit, he just wore it since he first came here. I don't know how his parents got it for him, all I know is that without it he would constantly get more often hurt. Maybe his parents were some space explorers or some shit."
Gwen then gestures to a blonde girl who is currently riding a motorcycle and is on top of a huge ramp, which was about 3 stories high.
"Vehicle Training Camp or as Ered calls it, Extreme Sports Camp."
Ered puts on her shades and then tries to show off her motorcycle skills, as she started her motorcycle her body begins to glow with white light in an instant, covering herself and her motorcycle. As she revved up the ignition, her motorcycle went down the ramp in blinding speed and reached to the other side of the ramp instantly, she then lowers her shades, clicks her tongue, and finger guns towards the new campers.
*Nikki blushes*
"Theatre Camp," Gwen said as she gestures to a kid on top of a stage who was oddly wearing a Ruff around his neck and was carrying a skull, clearly reenacting a part from a play.
Neil confused on why an amphitheater is at a Huntsman Camp he questioned it, "Okay, why is there a Theater Camp where we learn to make weapons and fight monsters"
David responded "Well Neil, huntsmen don't only fight Grimm, there will be moments whereas a huntsman you meet with other people, and how you "act" towards them can affect their trust in you. Theater camp is a camp where you can train to act in different scenarios you are given, and learn to decide for yourself in moral conundrums with people you work with, but mainly, it's just a camp to boost the morale of the campers. The same goes for the next camp."
"Art Camp," Gwen said as she gestures towards a little boy who was painting a well-detailed portrait of a dog. There was something peculiar with the painting as if it was moving with every stroke of the brush, as the boy placed his brush on his palette he then hovers his hand on the painting and waited patiently. Suddenly the dog from the painting jumps out of the canvas and proceeds to lick the boy's face with glee, leaving paint marks from every lick on to the boy's face.
"Awwww," said Nikki, and just beside her a green-eyed boy whose face is just red beet trying not to say "awwww" with her.
"Boot Ca-" As Gwen was about to introduce the next camp, she was cut short when am unpinned grenade was suddenly thrown at her face, David caught it in a blink of an eye and chucks it at Lake Lilac, and nearly makes it to the water.
…
…
…
*BOOOOOM*
The campers saw a huge explosion of water in the distance and the counselors look for the person who was responsible for this.
We see a big ginger kid cackling by himself holding bundles of grenades by his sides.
"Hahaha, that was awesome! Good thing David has fast reflexes, huh Gwen?"
David then confronts him and grabs his grenades and says, "Nurf, that was a very dangerous young man, Gwen and the other campers could've gotten hurt."
As David continued to scold Nurf, Gwen then continues what she was about to say "And there's Boot Camp, where we try and discipline misguided huntsmen." We see Gwen's veins just pumping across her forehead, she breathes heavily, and decides to continue with the tour.
"Does that always happen here?" Neil whispering to Max.
"Nah, Nurf was just trying to scare you guys," Max said.
"Oh, so he's actually a nice guy?" Nikki asked Max.
As Max was about to answer Nikki's question, he can see Nurf making spiteful gestures at him and doesn't answer her question.
The tour then continues leaving David dealing with Nurf.
"Dust Camp," Gwen said as she gestures to a black girl with glasses, we see both of her hands holding onto something gem-like, it was Uncut Dust. Dust is a powerful energy source that has been used by humanity for centuries as weapons, ammunition and an energy source, is now in the palms of a little girl. The girl closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, she then opens her eyes and gestures the dust she is holding to a tree, she then shouts "LIGHTNING BOLT!". As she shouts those words the gem begins to glow brighter and brighter, and then explodes in a blinding light, leaving crackles of electricity in the air and leaving the girl with glasses charred and her hair frizzy with static still conducting.
"Is she okay?" Nikki asked.
"Well her aura didn't break and isn't asking for help, so she's fine," Gwen said.
"And then there's Other Dust Camp," as Gwen gestured to a boy wearing a magician's clothing, we see him holding a wand. He pointed and waved his wand at his clothes, and runes began to flicker on his garments. The lights on these runes were similar to the Dust the girl with glasses used, the difference was there were varying colors of dust, four to be exact, etched on to his jacket. As the magic boy activated them all at once, his garments immediately exploded into four separate elements, fire, wind, water, earth. The dust began exploding and colliding with one another, breaking the poor boy's aura and as he fell to the ground he said in a weak voice.
"hhhheeeeelpp."
Gwen sighed, she then stretches out her right arm activating her semblance. As she activated it, a circular purple rune appears on top of the unconscious boy, and a dozen of black birds come out, they all perched on top of the small magician, grabbing him, and flying him to his tent so he can rest.
David after hearing two more explosions, came to help Gwen "What happened?! Did Nurf planted some C4s or something?!".
"So the first explosion of lightning didn't bother you? But the second one did?!" Gwen said.
"Look, I thought you can handle some minor explosions and far less deadly explosions from the other campers," David said.
Gwen sighed, looks at the new campers and says to them "Ok kids, that was all of our current camps and campers, but there are still other camps we can provide you."
"Speaking of other camps, where are ours?" Nikki asked.
"Your camp stations are right here," David says as he gestures to the two new camp stations, the Adventure Camp and the Weapon Smithing Camp.
The new Camp stations were fairly maintenance, I mean considering Camp Campbell is a camp where different kid huntsmen go to learn to be a well-rounded huntsman, it is a fairly rich camp.
The Adventure Camp station had many assorted items that can help a person survive in the wild, there are plenty of adventuring guide books kept in a stack, there are tools for foraging and hunting, and finally, the centerpiece of the station was a big fireplace where all campers can have a campfire together, Nikki just thinking about how much fun she's going to have this summer ran towards her station with a huge smile on her face.
Neil also looked at his station, the Weapon Smithing station, there were many tools and metallic materials that can be used to make new weapons he's been thinking of, blueprints can be found on the desk, books on how to make different types of weapon from all of Remnant, and what really caught his eye were the collection of Dusts that were kept in special containers, just beside the work desk. Seeing these things really made him happy, well only for a second. Neil wasn't having it, he wasn't expecting to be in a camp surrounded by nature, where animals spread their diseases and make his allergies act up.
"This wasn't what I signed up for! I just wanted Weapon Smithing Camp, not Weapon Smithing Camp and more!" Neil said while grabbing a pamphlet from his pocket.
Mr. Campbell grabs a microscope from the Weapon Smithing Camp and the pamphlet Neil is holding and says.
"That's why you read the fine print, sport" while holding the microscope, he hovers it below the text "Weapon Smithing Camp" on the pamphlet and we see in a small font "and more…".
"Now you can't sue us," Campbell says as he freely throws both the microscope and pamphlet.
Nikki then grabs her pamphlet, carefully reads it, and sees the text "and more…" in a small text as well.
"So what, this is some kind of Camp Camp?" Nikki asked Campbell.
"Well if you put it that way, yes," Campbell said with a smile.
"THIS IS BULLSHIT!" said Neil.
Everybody was so surprised that Neil swore, everyone immediately stopped what they were doing.
"Woah, check out the balls on the new kid," Max said.
"Where?" Nikki said as she looked between her legs.
"I don't know what kind of operation you think you're running, but I won't stand for it! You think you can just lie to us about everything, in the pamphlet it said there was going to be a laboratory, and every workstation had an air conditioner! Do you expect somebody to work in a place where explosions and kids falling from the sky constantly happens!?"
Everybody then looks at Space Kid and sees him with an oblivious look on his face.
"Look kid, I know we didn't prom—" Gwen tried to say but was cut off.
"Stand down Gretchen, I know how to deal with this," Campbell said confidently.
Campbell proceeds to call all the campers from their stations to get a little closer to the Weapon Smithing Camp for something he has to say to all of them.
"Look everyone, I may have lied to you all young huntsmen and huntresses, I may have made promises that I didn't keep, and I may have used up all the money from the camp just to get the proper equipment just for this summer."
As Gwen hears this, she immediately falls to the ground and rolls around in a fetal position, David tries to comfort her by singing a new song he just made but made it worse.
Campbell continues his speech after seeing Gwen having a panic attack "I know every single one of you has the potential in becoming true and traditional huntsmen everyone expects you to be, and with the help of the four professional huntsmen in the camp, including me. I promise to help you, kid huntsmen and huntresses, in any way I can, besides I'll be here this whole summer."
Just as Campbell finished his speech, the shadowy figures that were lurking in the bushes finally come out of hiding and without missing a beat go for Cameron Campbell. A dozen of them can be seen in the open, they raise their weapons at Campbell and open fire, Campbell being prepared for this to happen activates his semblance immediately. The campers then try to find cover as bullets fly by them, but Mr. Campbell doesn't hide, he stands there and lets all the bullets hit him, and as all the campers and the counselors found a place to hide, they observed Mr. Campbell's semblance. As they take a closer look It appears that his semblance allows his skin to turn to solid gold at a certain point whenever a bullet is about to hit him, immediately ricocheting away from his body.
He then grabs his scroll trying to protect it from being shot and speaks into it "Code Black, Code Black,". As Campbell said those words, a Mistral Airship appeared out of nowhere with a rope ladder being dropped down for Campbell.
"Sir, where are you going?!" said David frantically.
"Just have to go in the waters of Mistral for a bit, maybe I'll come back in a week or two, who knows? Anyways kids, have a great summer and carpe diem!" Mr. Campbell said as his voice faintly disappears in the distance.
As Campbell escaped, the campers then gazed at his assailants, low and behold it was the Atlas Military. All of them wearing similar armor, helmets, and using the same weaponry. Some of them were still shooting, hoping to hit the Mistral Airship so that it may slow down and some were calling for backup. And in instant, Atlas Airships came to pick up the soldiers, all of them planned to go after Mr. Campbell and went off.
As the soldiers left the camp in their airships, Gwen can be found on the ground still in a fetal position with David beside her. And as David tries to comfort her again, lending his hand to her. Gwen finally snaps back to reality and sees David, she then grabs his hand and gets back up. Gwen trips a little and David catches her, resulting in them hugging each other. What felt like a few seconds, felt like hours for Gwen and she wished she could stay like this for a little while longer, with David beside her.
"SCCCEEEEEEEECCCHHHH!"
Their embrace with one another was caught short as a loud visceral shriek can be heard, it seems the panic from the campers, was just enough for a Grimm to attack the camp. Nobody seems to know what direction it came from, but Gwen had an ace up her sleeve. She uses her semblance while still holding on to David. She closes her eyes and sees complete darkness, but after a few seconds, she can now see and hear what her birds on patrol see, a Nevermore flying towards Camp Campbell.
Gwen then breaks away from David, then faces towards where the Grimm is going to appear and starts formulating a plan. As David sees her doing this, he gently touches her shoulder and says to her.
"Look Gwen you're not alone I'm here for you, we're a team after all"
Gwen then looks at David in the eyes and whispers to him "I know we're a team David, but for now you have to trust me and take care of the kids. I'll be bait for the Grimm and when I get back arrange all the campers to where their skills and semblances can be of use in defeating this Nevermore together, okay?"
David nods slightly at Gwen, with a stoic look on his face, for he has faith in his co-counselor.
As Gwen hears the shrieks grow closer and closer, she takes a deep breath and says "Everybody listen up! This will be your first Grimm attack this summer in Camp Campbell, everybody form teams, watch each other's back! And most importantly!"
All of Gwen's birds including the ones who saw the Grimm, surround and envelope her. They then disperse away from her and we can see Gwen with a pair of black ashy wings on her back, she then stares at all of the campers in the eyes and speaks.
"Do what you have to do."
She then flies away leaving a black smoky trail, to face the Nevermore alone for now.
