There was definitely one bonus of being obvious in their fight against Hawkmoth and the Akuma that he sent out. Watching Ladybug work was magical in it's own way. It memorized her partner and he only had eyes for her. He had never had this before and he would enjoy every minute of it. Even if he felt a little bad for the victims of Hawkmoth, he would always love to spend time with ladybug.

In this business he chose what he wanted to do and he chose to follow his lady into the very pits of hell on occasion. He loved her with everything he was but knew he could not have her. Besides the obvious fact that she was in love with another, she was creation. She was everything good in this world. She could be handed an impossibly horrible situation and make it better. Adrian had never seen that before.

He was a black cat for sure. He had everything he could possibly want according to his father. He had toys growing up and books and games galore. He had a job that he would always be able to fall back on. He should be happy. Though on nights before Plagg, when he was alone, he could not fake it like he could during the day.

All he could think about was the empty chair at the end of the table and a bodyguard he spent hours with but would not speak to him. He was very lonely and it took every once of rebellion he had to make a pass for freedom, for school.

School usually did not equal freedom for most. Even after convincing them to let him go, the standards he was held to were ridiculous. He was glad attendance was not added in because of Chat Noir but if his grades slipped for even a moment, he would be forced to go home. Same with his photoshoots. He had to be all in at every turn and it was exhausting.

Plagg was a dream come true. He did not care about anything and did whatever he wanted. He was a cat that was never indecisive when it came to what he wanted, even if that mostly included cheese. He would not settle for less and

Adrien wished he could be like that as well.

Many times he spoke to Plagg about running away. Always the supportive one, Plagg would play the devil's advocate or agree wholeheartedly depending on what Adrien needed. Adrien suspected he was not the first lonely soul to be handed to the kwami. Plagg always listened to him, even if all Adrien was doing was waxing poetry on the blue of his lady's eyes.

He acted like he could care less, but Adrien knew the truth. Plagg would always look at him when they spoke and asked him about his responses. Adrien felt more like a turtle than a cat at the beginning. He had worked so hard to go to school but it wasn't working like he thought it would. On tv, the main character always made friends right away but the other kids had been together for ages and did not want to make room for another. Especially a friend of Chloe's.

Chloe was definitely loud with all her desires. She had learned early that if she wanted something, she had to go for it. No one was going to wait around for her to speak or give it to her unless she spoke. She had tried many times to help Adrien speak up but his father shot him down at every turn. After a while, both children gave up on him.

Adrien could probably count on one hand how many words he spoke to father just this week and it was Thursday. He was beginning to think there was something wrong with him. If he could not even talk to others, how did he expect this situation to turn out. That was before Plagg though.

When the boy started taking the small cat's advice, he noticed a change. He stood up for himself and made his first friend. Nino was the second angel he was sent. The doe eyed boy just knew when Adrien needed to talk, which was all the time. He would laugh and converse with him and it was the most amazing thing the reclusive boy had ever had, aside from one very noisy cat.

When he started to go out more as Chat Noir, he found someone he never would have dreamed of. His light, His love, His Ladybug. She was amazing in every way. She was smart and funny and always had a plan. She never hesitated to help another person, regardless of what she had to do. When she looked at him, he felt like he was the only one in the world who was fit to be her partner.

What else could it be but love. Spurred on by Plagg's encouragement, the young man was soon finding new ways to tell the lovely lady how he felt. His advances never got anywhere but they were beneficial for him. He learned how to speak and express himself.

T

his opened up all sorts of possibilities. He was still Chat in and out of the mask, even if he could not hold the same freedom. He began opening up outside the mask and learned there were others just like Ladybug who stood up for those they felt were wronged. Mariette and Alya were the closest he had even experienced to his lady.

They believed so strongly in what they believed and had goals and hobbies they loved dearly. Adrien had his modelling and piano and even Chinese but none of those things were his own decision. He learned from watching them how powerful his choices were. At that point, Adrien would spend time with the group whenever possible.

Many times he could not because of his fathers work but that was improvement in itself. He did not realize he was even doing it until Plagg pointed it out. "His father's work", when had it stopped being his as well. He always did what his father told him. He was all he had in the world, so Adrien did everything he could to please him.

The realization that he was no longer trying to please his father struck the young boy silent. He was lucky to have the realization during his private piano practice instead of while he was fencing. When had his world opened up so much he quit caring about what his father wanted. Thinking back it had to have began with one person, the person who gave him the freedom to choose, Plagg.

He was so thankful to his kwami that he bought a lot of cheese. He began thinking of all his relationships before and after his friend started helping him. He did not know how but he had become happier since going out as Chat. Thinking about his perfect partner made him fall in love with her all over again.

For it was Plagg that opened the door for his freedom but it was her that showed him how to communicate with others even outside the mask. She was his confidante and first love. He could speak with her about anything and tired to help her understand she could do the same.

Every knew piece of information he gathered about her was like one more piece of a puzzle that was her. Even finding out she was not perfect was wonderful. It put her on his level and not on the pedestal he build for her. His love grew with every knew piece until he knew. Adrien knew with all he was that he would never love another like her.

He did not know her name but he knew so much about her. About her strength and beauty. About her need to help and her honestly in the face of trouble. Her love for her city and those that lived there. She had never lied to the boy, though she did keep secrets. She was the only one to ever apologize for having to keep something from him.

Chat did not think he could ever put the city of Paris over her life and that was ok as well. Ladybug could take care of the city while he had more important things to do. As far as Chat was concerned, he had one task. To protect her. He would happily follow her until her bright light burned him out. What else could be expected from a creature of bad luck.
