10 Years later...

The White Wolf was the last arriving to the Avengers compound; he hadn't slept in the whole night and looked defeated. During the last ten years, many of the oldest employees in the area got used to him and learned to predict his mood by watching his movements. It was something that they learned to do during the Winter Soldier days when everybody was ready to escape after any possible sign of activation. Many things had happened since then; He became a respected figure and got the affection of many people around. He had a terrible history, and for the same reason, many used to low their eyes when he was around; they just couldn't find the way to hide that mix of sympathy and pity for him.

The event of that day would be of the most disturbing kind for him. It was the selected moment for using the time machine again and all the avengers knew that this moment had to come; the Black Fog hat to go back to her original time and nobody would risk a single change on the timeline, not even for Bucky.

Natasha was waiting in front of the machine, the sadness in her eyes was visible and Banner checked the procedure hiding his face behind his Notes while Sam couldn't avoid to wait with visible broken hearth. They all were struggling with their decision, but they knew that they did not have the right to change the past because too many things were depending of it. The door opened and Steve, still with red eyes, arrived with her…

The Black Fog was able to feel the heavy tension and sorrow in the environment. She had stayed for a while with those guys. She liked them, even when they all behaved in a very particular way, always full of mystery and concern, but they seemed to really care about her. She was still very young, only seventeen and was already escaping of big problems when they went to the past and brought her into their era with a specific purpose. They had taken profit of something that she did not know that she was able to do and felt a huge gratitude when she learn, through them, that she could be something more than a monster.

Natasha gave her a sincere hug as a goodbye, then, the rest did the same, Sam, Banner, Wanda, even Vision gave her a long hug and spoke with wise words that she could not understand at that moment. Steve watched at the door, he knew that Bucky had to be there but was afraid about the moment of seeing him entering into the room.

The Fog was starting to feel impatient; from all the avengers, the White Wolf was the one for whom she felt the deepest sympathy. She could feel that she had a significant meaning for him, but he was specially careful of not being to close or talk too much to her. He was always distant and disturbed by her presence. Still, she wanted to say goodbye.

-One last time- she asked smiling to all- You will not tell me anything about my future before I go? You know probably everything about me, is not fair when I have to go and do all the job without having a little help… a couple of advices? Some warnings? -she was trying to reduce the effect that the heavy mood had over her.

-No, you do not need any advices – answered Steve with a sad face – you will do everything great in the future, do not worry about that – he got closer and hold her in her arms until he was sure that he could let her go without a tear.

-Am I going to have a happy life? -she asked him directly, looking into his eyes, trying to measure his mood during his answer. A little darkness appeared in his face, he attempted to say something but somebody else answered.

-You will have the happiest of all lifes, I promise that – Bucky's voice came from the door. He was finally there and took a big, long breath before approaching to her. He didn't blink, his eyes were tired, he walked as a man that knows that he is going to the scaffold, but he had to see her a last time. When he arrived, Wanda had crunched Vision's hand to gain some support, she could not believe that this was happening.

The Black Fog felt the relief of the Wolf's voice, he always made her feel in peace.

-I do not even know when I will see you again, but I know that I will see you; therefore, nobody should act here as if this would be a funeral.- The Fog did not want to say goodbye, she knew that somehow in the future they would meet again. They did not want to reveal anything, but she could see the people's reactions in the compound when she walked around. She knew that she would be again there, in her future, because, somehow, in another way and in other time but she had to wait for that.

-Ready? – Banner indicated that the machine was ready. Everybody walked to the other side of the hall, except Tony and Bucky, this one went closer and gave her a long last gaze, and then he hugged her so strong that she got surprised. He was always soft with her and this one was a new demonstration of something she did not know. She could smell his essence and wanted to keep it in memory; she felt that he was trembling.

-Did I really have to go? – she asked with lowly voice while hugging him too.

-Yes darling, you still have a very nice life to live, you have a lot of things to learn, for example, you should learn to control the black Fog

-I cannot control others emotions … - she answered while they were still holding each other.

-No Mia, but you should control what you do with them, you are not going to be a black fog forever

-Are you going to be there to help me? In the past… I mean, in my future?

Bucky stroked her hair, his eyes were not used to show emotions anymore, he also had forgotten how was to touch her like this, but that question hurt him and the metal blue turned into a curtain of glass ready to break- One day, you will get that answer by your own.

-I will miss you

-I will miss you too -he started to lose his voice and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

She felt a huge amount of pain coming from him and got worried about its meaning, Suddenly she felt panic of leaving him on this way; she knew that before being the White Wolf, he was known under another name, she knew what a lonely figure he was and decided that he would look for him in the past. She wanted to make a change, but the idea was crazy because "on her time" he was still the most dangerous man she could ever meet. Those were her thoughts and she was surprised that suddenly she was making plans for somebody else after Tony had prevented her from doing it. He had spoken to her the night before and gave her severe recommendations for her life. Recommendation number one: do not look for them, wait, wait until life would happen on its own way. Recommendation number two: breath… no matter how angry or frustrated you are: breath! And then he gave a single command, this one, he said, it should not be forgotten or shared with anybody: avoid the pyramid!

She still was holding Bucky when he said – You did it perfect!

-what? – she asked

-you unlocked everything. Then, Bucky clenched his teeth before giving a step back.

Steve got a little closer, not to urge them to say goodbye but to help Bucky to go through. She had the feeling that those two could speak at that moment with their eyes.

Tony came closer, he would bring her back to her time and while he prepared to go into the machine, he secured something in his Pocket. He felt sorrow about Bucky, he had hated the winter soldier so much but equally felt thankful for what the White Wolf had done in the past for him and today, he felt especially guilty for giving a chance to Pepper again by asking Bucky to support more pain. He had asked him for his permission to bring the Fog, Bucky accepted even when he knew that this temporary relieve would be only providing a longer sorrow.

Tony and the very young Fog went inside the Machine, the last thing that she could see was Bucky's figure falling into the floor, wholly defeated by his emotions.

Back in the past, Tony said goodbye, he made her promise that she would remember his words and left… but before, he did something he knew that only he could do without compromising the future: he took the thing that he had hidden on his pocket and looked for the Winter Soldier.

-"That was it"- is what she thought when she was back on her timelime and alone. She remembered what she has done during the last five minutes, when she was on the future. She helped Tony to save his wife. He had asked her to do something that she had never done before, and she even didn't know what she could do. The life of Mrs. Stark depended of something that not even Banner or Wanda could perform without enormous risk. It was Stark, the one who thought that she could be helpful… she could protect his wife if she could be there. But that was impossible until he decided to appear outside the Shack where the White Wolf spent most of his time with a proposal that could change everything. He asked permission to save his wife by bringing the Fog. That only Idea had almost killed Bucky because he couldn't imagine the pain repeated again...
