The screen flashed with the words 'Defeat' and a string of apologies spilled out from her.

"Aw, don't worry, Luce! You did amazing!" he said, but why did she feel the need to bury her head into her arms?

Her head rested on her clenched fist, a pout sat on her face.

"Wanna take a lil' break? I gotta go help Wendy dry her hair."

Thank God, "Yeah, that's fine, Natsu. Take your time," she listened until she heard the familiar sound of his mic being muted.

She glared at the screen of her computer. Why was the game so hard? It was just aim your mouse at the head, use your abilities, and get it over with.

Hmph.

She spent hours practicing, trying to understand the mechanics, and watching videos on it. It was embarrassing really. All of that work for what? To impress a boy? Stupidly pathetic. She hated the fact that she had to communicate with people. She was tired of the constant judging she would feel if she didn't know how to play a certain agent. There was one experience where some guy on her team called her out on her terrible skills.

"Yo, why're you so clueless? You're so bad."

The memory still made her cringe. God how she wanted to reach through the screen and show him a peace of her mind, but alas, she ignored the jerk. In fact, she was thankful for him, he gave her more determination to improve.

Natsu was always there to hype her up though. No matter how many times she failed, he always had something encouraging to say. He guided her through everything and defended her when some random douche made fun of her. He had other friends to play with, but when he saw she was online, he would instantly invite her to join, ignoring his other pals who were much better than her.

But why?

She was absolutely terrible at video games. He knew, she knew, practically everyone that was unfortunate enough to be on their team knew. She was always dying from using her own abilities, sometimes even killing her teammates. Her aim wasn't much better, having the most trouble with the unpredictable recoil. She didn't even understand the terms 'cracked' or 'pushing' which made it harder for her to communicate with him. Although, she was thankful that he would take the time to explain it to her.

She sighed, "This is stupid."

"What's stupid?"

Lucy jumped out of her seat, falling over and bringing her keyboard along with her.

"Whoa! You okay there, Luce?"

She rubbed her head, "Yeah, just fine."

Lingering silence.

"So...what's stupid?"

"Ah, it's nothing, don't worry about it," she stated as she rearranged her desk.

"Still worrying 'bout the game?"

"...no…" she lied, slightly fiddling with her earphones.

More silence.

It's just...why do you play with me? I'm so terrible and I feel like I'm holding you down most of the time, I just feel terrible," she whispered to the phone, as her shoulders slumped.

She heard Natsu release a breath before replying, "Lucy, it doesn't matter if you're terrible or if you're the best player around. What matters is that I always have the best experience playing when it's with you. You don't needa worry 'bout winning or losing, just as long as you're having' fun, yeah?"

She beamed, "Yeah."

"I mean, if you're not havin' fun, we could always go to that bookstore you've been wantin' to go to."

She giggled, "Nah, I think I'd rather play video games with you."

And so, they did.

Notes:

Hello! I'm pretty new to this site, but I have read some works on here. I've recently been inspired to write, but I'm insecure about it. I don't really have anyone to go to in order to get feedback that'll be beneficial to me, so I was hoping this would work. Feel free to be as brutal as you'd like, just make sure it includes some tips. ]

I also have an account on Wattpad. I like to put drafts there, and I will probably transfer them onto here!

That's all though. Thank you for reading!

(Also! I do not own Fairy Tail! Hiro Mashona does!)
