Tom Cat and Jerry Mouse could hardly believe their luck. After ending up on the streets thanks to losing their home and being hounded at every turn, the two had tried to coexist despite their long-standing rivalry. Never had they dreamed that they would meet Robyn and work together to reunite her with her father and save her from her money-loving wretch of an aunt, Pristine Figg. Now Tom and Jerry were finding more to do with each other besides chasing each other and causing mayhem, even if it was all in good fun, and they had a new and better home. Better yet, living with Robyn was going to be a lot more enjoyable, for they had never been a child's pets and in their minds, no child was more deserving of their love than Robyn.
The first night after their adventure, Tom and Jerry were in Robyn's room looking out the window at the sprawling city. The attic where Aunt Figg had confined their young owner was higher, but now that Robyn's home and all her belongings were restored to her, they could truly enjoy the sight of the big city at night with its almost magical glow accompanied by the music of passing automobiles. It was a rainy night, perfect for sleep, and that could be counted as a bonus.
"Gorgeous, isn't it?" said Jerry.
"You said it, pal," agreed Tom. "Our old home never had a view like this. I think I'm gonna like being Robyn's cat."
"She found a mousehole for me right across from her bed," Jerry told his friend. "What about you, Tom?"
"Robyn had a basket made for me," Tom replied. "She's also promised to give us both food and drink so we won't go crazy on each other. Don't get too used to it, though."
"Don't worry about me, old pal. I won't need to cause any big trouble now," Jerry said with a smile. Then he said, "Speaking of Robyn, where is she?"
"Just having her first warm bath in weeks," answered Tom. "She'll be here pretty soon."
A minute later, Robyn entered the room in her turquoise pajamas and said to Tom and Jerry, "You like living here, you two?"
"Like it?" Tom quipped. "We love it, Robyn! We love living in this new house!"
"But no more than we love you," added Jerry.
Robyn's heart warmed inside her at these words and she carried Tom over to her four-poster bed while Jerry clung to her shoulder. When she climbed up on it, Jerry tumbled onto the blankets and then tried walking on them and feeling them. Robyn's bed was very comfortable, for the sheets and blankets were properly sized and warm, the pillows were soft, and the bed curtains were a brilliant violet and patterned with stars to add the flair of bedtime.
"It's still hard to believe Aunt Figg let Ferdinand sleep in my bed for a whole month," Robyn said. "At least I can finally sleep comfortably."
"I definitely agree with you," Tom told her.
Robyn continued stroking Tom's back while letting Jerry dance in the palm of her hand. Eventually, the little mouse did a somersault and landed on the bed. Suddenly, Robyn giggled as she felt Jerry trying to climb over her feet, and she playfully wiggled her toes to shake him around. Jerry lost his footing and ended up falling into Robyn's palm once more, and then Robyn held Tom and Jerry in a loving embrace. Then her father entered the room and smiled to see his little daughter happy again.
"Daddy!" Robyn cheered, and she got onto her knees and hugged her father joyously.
"Hey, sunshine," Mr. Starling chuckled as he embraced Robyn and rocked her gently. Then he petted Tom and patted Jerry's head, "Hiya, boys. I've got something here for you two."
Then Mr. Starling reached into his pocket and drew out a red collar sporting a golden license that read TOM CAT. 10970 North Charles Avenue, which he proceeded to place around Tom's neck. Then he gave a similar collar to Jerry, whose license read JERRY MOUSE. 10970 North Charles Avenue.
Tom and Jerry were so happy to have these new collars. Having a collar is almost as good as a name in the case of pets, for it shows how their owner has brought them into their care. Jerry could only say, "Thanks, Mr. Starling, sir." And Tom added, "Oh, I think it's swell."
"Glad you like them," replied Mr. Starling. Then he resumed hugging Robyn, but couldn't help noticing that she looked a little sad. He asked, "What is it, Robyn?"
"I'm just glad you're home, Daddy," Robyn said with a sniffle. "I thought I'd never see you again. Aunt Figg and Lickboot, they told me you were dead."
Mr. Starling understood his daughter's pain and hugged her tighter, saying, "I know, Robyn. I really do. But I'm home with you, and now we can hold each other close with no fear of ever losing each other again."
Robyn hugged and kissed her father, and then Tom and Jerry gave their own hugs to their new owner. When the hearty cuddle finally came to an end, Robyn crawled under her blankets and settled in. Her father tucked her in and kissed her on the cheek.
"Sweet dreams, my little shooting star," he said warmly.
"Good night, Daddy," Robyn replied sleepily. "I love you."
"And I love you."
With that, Robyn's father headed to his own room while Tom and Jerry gave Robyn some good night hugs too. Then as they fell asleep with Tom curled up on Robyn's blankets and Jerry in his new bed in his cozy little mousehole, the cat and mouse duo were dreaming of their new life with Robyn. They were home at last.
