Please note: This story is not written linear. In order to keep a bit of mystery going, events will be revealed through flashbacks and through character's explanations as and when it's necessary for the story to progress. If it feels like I've skipped a part of the story, this is the reason why.

Prologue

A young woman runs from something that casts a monstrous shadow across a dimly lit cobbled street. She arrives at a dead-ended alley, breathless and wide eyed.

The creature belonging to the shadow advances down the alley with large eyes glinting menacingly in its dark-furred head. It stretches to full height, pointing it's long snout into the foggy air, sniffing out it's prey. The colossal hairy form of it blots out the glaring white light of the full moon.

The woman has found a hiding place between two metal dumpsters. She clasps a hand over her nose and mouth to muffle the sound of her own breathing.

With a wrinkle of it's snout, the beast lets out a grunt in disgust as the odour emanating from the rotting contents of the bins masks the smell of fear.

Just as it turns to exit the alley, the woman dares let out a breath and it's ears twitch at the faint sound of it. The monster turns back around and swipes at the dumpsters with tremendous razor-like claws, spilling garbage everywhere, revealing the terrified human, still hunched up and quivering.

A wide mouth stretches into an insidious grin, revealing white daggers dripping with saliva.

"Please…" she whimpers, "what do you want?"

A long hot stream of breath escapes the brute's mouth. Glossy fangs almost graze ashen cheeks.

"I want you to tell them who I am," it growls, "I want you to tell everyone that my name is…"

The woman's eyes clamp shut as the horrifying thing leans closer and speaks into her ear.

When she opens her eyes, she is alone. Only a long menacing howl can be heard echoing through the deserted streets.
