Nanu

Nanu sat at his desk ignoring phone calls as per usual. They would often traumatize him. He played with his toy which would entertain his cats. He was a cat man. He liked dogs too, but they required a lot of energy to make sure they were healthy and happy. He admired dog people and all they go through for their pets. He however was tired, lazy, depressed. He took in all these cats because they lacked shelter and food and somehow he inadvertently became a crazy cat lady. He sighed and just sat in his chair ignoring phone calls. His main pet, Tomtom, an Alolan Persian walked up to him demanding food.

"Tomtom… no. Sorry. You're on a diet. I care about you. I want you to be healthy."

Tomtom continued meowing.

Nanu sighed and petted him while giving him cat weed in the hopes that would be a better option for him.

A person walked in. "God damn it." He thought as he set his toy aside. "Hi? What is it?"

It was a child. "Sir, I'm missing my cat. He ran out and got lost." The child was crying.

"God damn it." Muttered Nanu, his heart beginning to ache. He hated feeling anything and he hated that now there was something he was obligated to have to do because if not, it would haunt his conscience. "I'll… go help you search, kiddo." He got up, placed on his sandals, and went with the child to search for his cat.

Out on the beaches, many Pokemons resided. He spotted Giovanni and quickly covered his face not wanting to interact with him. He had no energy. All he wanted to do was just hide in some dark corner and nap or cry, whichever came first. Thankfully, Giovanni didn't notice him and went on his way. Nanu continued the search for the child's cat.

The poor kid was crying. Nanu just couldn't handle it and said "Hey… kiddo? Want some ice cream? My treat."

The kid's eyes lit up. "Yes, mister! Thank you!"

He walked up to an ice cream stand and ordered two ice cream cones. "What flavor would you like?"

"BANANA!" Eagerly shouted the kid. "With sprinkles!"

Nana chuckled and ordered that.

The two sat by the beach watching the waves as they ate the ice cream. "Gee, thank you for this ice cream, Mister Nanu!"

Nanu smiled at him and then sighed. He hadn't had friends in years and felt alone. It was nice to hang out with another human.

Suddenly, there it was. A fluffy white cat popped out meowing.

"MY KITTY!" Shouted the child as he ran over to the cat, accidentally dropping his ice cream cone. "YAY!"

Nanu was confused for a moment and then smiled again at the child being reunited with its pet. "Aw, I'm glad you both are back together. Well, my job here is done. See ya, kiddo!"

The kid ran up to Nanu and hugged him. "THANKS, MISTER! You truly are the big kahuna around here!"

Nanu sighed, hating having to be responsible for anything. He hugged the kid back and then began walking back to his station.

Acerola popped in. She had been observing the two the whole time. "Aw, Nanu! You're so sweet! Thank you for helping my friend! You are so kind!" She hugged the kahuna and then skipped away.

He was shocked but smiled at Acerola. He hated her for bringing out emotions in him but at the same time, he wanted to protect her and make sure she's happy and safe. He reminded her of a kitten he once spotted that brought out slivers of positive emotions in him after so many years of misery and depression. He didn't want to feel anything anymore, but he kept caring and made sure the poor kitten was safe from predators until it was big enough to fend for itself and live its life. Then he distanced himself. He was doing the same to Acerola just simply making sure she's safe and okay.

What a nice kid that will grow up to do great things in this world. He hated how much he easily attaches to people and animals and feels a need to protect them. It was why he distanced himself from everybody and everything. He just doesn't want to feel anything anymore after so many years of pain and emotional torment from others.

He sighed and went back to his workplace to resume playing with his toy. He shut off all the lights to be in the dark. He much preferred the dark.

Tomtom yet again began meowing at him. "Dang it, Tomtom!" He gave him cat weed.
