McCoy was more than a little annoyed as he marched down the halls, ready to hypo anyone who stood in his way. For once it wasn't Kirk that the Doctor was mad at, it was the Chief Engineer, Scotty. McCoy was doing his regular medical exams for the entire crew, but the Scotsman hadn't turned up for his. As normal Scotty had tried to convince McCoy that he was perfectly fine, but the doctor wasn't going to just let this one go. He was heading down to Engineering, since Scotty rarely spent time anywhere else. McCoy stormed in and looked around, but instead of seeing the Scotsman he saw Keenser sitting high up on a stack of boxes. "Would you bloody get down from there before you fall and break something!" McCoy yelled, Keenser grunted before slowly climbing down. "How does Scotty deal with him every bloody day!"
The CMO thought to himself as the Engineer hurried over to him, "I'll get straight to the point, where is that dam Scotsman?!" McCoy asked. It was clear to Keenser that the Doctor was a little bit annoyed, OK he was very annoyed. But instead of answering Keenser ran off to a nearby console, grabbed a PADD off it and ran back, all while typing frantically on the screen. Since Keenser rarely spoke more than one word at a time, he would often write while communicating with anyone other than Scotty, since the Scotsman could understand him. It took a minute for Keenser to type out his answer, so he handed the PADD over to McCoy who took it and read it. The PADD simply said: 'Scotty not here. Fixing transporter.' McCoy's face slowly turned red, "Of course he wouldn't be here, after I've walked all the bloody way down here." He thought to himself as he handed the PADD back to Keenser and thanked him, before turning on his heels and stormed out of Engineering.
So with the information he had gained from Keenser, McCoy was now marching his way to the transporter room to firstly, try and convince Scotty to come for his exam, but if that failed he would just hypo him and drag him back to sick bay. It was safe to say that McCoy was even more mad than he was when he started his journey, McCoy wasn't that far from the transporter room when he heard a familiar voice call out to him, "You look like you're on a mission Bones." McCoy glanced over his shoulder to see Kirk walking towards him. "I am Jim."
"You also look like you're ready to hurt someone." McCoy simply nodded, "Too right I am and that bloody person is Scotty." Kirk chuckled quietly. "Why are you going to hurt Scotty?" "Because the dam idiot is refusing to come for his exam! Dam bloody Scotsman." Kirk gave McCoy a nervous smile, he knew that Scotty had been avoiding the Doctor. "Fair enough Bones, just don't hurt him too much when he refuses to come with you." McCoy rolled his eyes, "Can't promise anything Jim, how much he gets hurt all depends on Scotty." Once again Kirk chuckled quietly as he turned off the main hall, leaving McCoy to continue his way to detain the stubborn Scotsman.
Soon McCoy stormed into the transporter room, his face was still red. Scotty was lying on his stomach on the pad, his head stuck down a hole in the floor. "Scotty!" McCoy yelled, there was then a loud thud followed by a string of swear words before Scotty's head emerged from the hole. "Bloody hell McCoy, you scared me half to death. What brings you down here?" Scotty asked as he rubbed his head, McCoy simply glared at him, anger burning in his eyes. "You know the exact bloody reason I'm here and I'm not going to take no as a dam answer." McCoy roared as Scotty stood up, "I don't see why you're getting so ticked off about this." It seemed that was the wrong thing for Scotty to say as McCoy's face only grew redder. "I'm more than ticked off! It's my job to maintain the health of the ships crew, no matter who the hell they are." "But I'm fine."
It was clear that Scotty was pushing all the wrong buttons since McCoy looked like he was about to lose it, McCoy stormed up onto the pad and grabbed hold of the Scotsman's arm. "Dam it Scotty, would you stop being so stubborn for once! Just let me conduct my exam!" McCoy growled, Scotty was about to answer when he heard a faint buzzing noise coming from the open section of the floor. "That doesn't sound good…" Scotty muttered to himself as he glanced nervously over his shoulder, which McCoy noticed, he too had heard the noise. "Scotty… What's that noise?" Just then Kirk walked in, "Just came by to check that the two of you weren't fighting." He said with a chuckle. But before Scotty or McCoy could reply, they vanished. Right before Kirk's eyes. Kirk instantly pulled out his communicator and called up to the bridge, "Spock, stop the ship, now!" "Why Captain? Is something wrong?" "Scotty and Bones just got beamed off the ship." It seemed that was all the Vulcan needed to hear since the ship came to a sudden stop.
