And i'm back! Hello everyone, glad to be back and i brought my first crossover story with me. This is and idea i've had for awhile now and i wanted to write a story about it. As for my knowledege of these franchises, i've watched all of the Godzilla films (with the exception of Godzilla Vs. Kong, which i'm planing on watching soon) and a few other Toho related kaiju films. in terms of Star Trek, i've only watched the original series and the animated series as well as the first three Star Trek films (plus some of the licensed comics published by Marvel and DC at the time), so my knowledge of Star Trek lore isn't the greatest, so i'm hoping you guys can help me if i happen to get something wrong.
As for when this takes place, it's supposed to be set after the original series but i never really understood how the stardates work, so maybe you can help me out in the review section.
So with that out of the way, let's begin shall we.
Chapter 1: Strange Encounters
In the black void of space, a starship was gliding majestically through the great unknown before slowing down as it approached a nearby planet. This ship was the USS-Enterprise, one of the most famous ships in the entire Federation.
In the bridge of the ship worked what many consider to be some of the best that the Federation had ever seen. The ships communications officer, Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, a woman of African descent. Ensign Pavel Chekov, the Russian ship navigator. Science officer, Mr. Spock, the half human/half Vulcan hybrid. Hikaru Sulu, the ships helmsmen of Japanese descent. And finally, the captain of the Enterprise, Captain James T. Kirk.
"Captain's log, stardate 5949.8." Said captain Kirk as he recorded the ships log. "The Enterprise is assuming orbit around the third planet in a newly discovered solar system at the edge of the galaxy. This system was discovered by complete accident two weeks ago by a science patrol ship. However, when they attempted to scan the planet, they experienced interference, and because the ship didn't have any shuttlecraft, the ship had to leave for repairs. The Enterprise has been ordered to investigate this strange new planet and find the cause to the transporter malfunction."
" Anything Mr. Spock?" Kirk asked his first officer as soon as he finished the log.
"Negative captain." Came Mr. Spock's reply. "It's exactly as they reported, I can't get any clear scans of the planet."
Kirk looked down at his lap in thought. While it's true that this wasn't the first time this had happened in his life, it still gave him cause for concern. When the enterprise was unable to scan something in the past, it usually meant trouble. Still, when something like this happens, it bears investigating.
"Well, I think it's time we found out the cause of the interference." Kirk said before getting out of the captain's chair and began walking towards the turbolift. "Mr. Spock, Mr. Sulu you're with me, Uhura, tell Dr. Mccoy to meet us in the hangar."
"Aye, captain." came their responses. Spock and Sulu followed him into the turbolift. As they stood in the lift, Sulu asked, "Any theories about what might be causing the interference Mr. Spock."
"I don't have the necessary information to answer that question Mr. Sulu. While there have been cases of ship to planet interference in the past, those incidents were just small areas, there has never been a situation where we have been unable to scan an entire planet. So, I cannot say that I know of any technology that could accomplish something of that scale. Although it is possible that there is some element on the planet that is causing the interference."
The lift opened and the trio stepped out and started walking to the hangar. "So, in other words, this might be a natural phenomenon and not the cause of technology?" Sulu surmised.
"Isn't that what I said?" Mr. Spock replied with a raised eyebrow. Kirk smiled at the small interaction. However, before Sulu could give a response, they were met with the ships doctor, Leonard McCoy joining the three was they walked together to the hangar where the ships shuttlecrafts were being kept.
"I'm telling you Jim." Dr McCoy said. "There is something real funny about all this, and I don't like it!"
"You don't seem to like anything doctor." Sulu replied humorously. McCoy grumbled something under his breath before Kirk said to him, "Bones we have to be serious about this. An interference of this scale has never been seen before; we need to find out what's causing it."
"Damn it, Jim I know that already. What I'm saying is that every time something like this happens, we always get into trouble. I swear it's like the universe is against us or something."
"I find it hard to believe that there is some higher being that is manipulating events to cause one lone ship and her crew trouble." Mr. Spock cut in, much to McCoy's annoyance.
"Oh, I wasn't being literal you pointy eared Vulcan, I was just stating the probability of something going wrong down there."
"Something can always go wrong Bones." Kirk said. "I think our past experiences has taught us that much."
"Quite true captain." Mr. Spock said in agreement. "So, you see doctor, no amount of planning and preparation can truly guarantee that our mission will, as you humans tend to put it, 'go smoothly'."
"Yes, but that also means we have to be prepared for the unexpected. Again, something we've gotten quite used to during our travels."
Sulu laughed and lightly punched Mccoy in the shoulder. "You know you really need to lighten up doctor." He spoke. "We've all survived this long, haven't we? I mean, after everything we've been through, I'm starting to think there's nothing in the universe we can't handle."
"Yeah, well, have you forgotten that we've had plenty of casualties in the past? We're not invincible, we're only human, and I seem to recall that we've been in plenty of incidents in the past where we were in over our heads."
"Gentlemen, please calm down." Kirk said as everyone stopped walking. "Now I understand you're concerned Bones, but we've got a job to do and intend to do that job even when I know the risks involved, and I know you all will do the same. Are we in agreement?"
Spock nodded in agreement and so did Sulu. McCoy grumbled something under his breath before he gave his nod and started walking towards the hangar with the rest of them.
Sometime later, on one shuttlecraft in the hangar deck
"Captain Kirk to bridge, are you there Scotty?" Kirk spoke into a communicator. Three seconds later came a reply from Montgomery Scott, the ships chief engineer.
"Aye, captain, I'm here." Came Scotty's reply. "Now you four be careful down there, no telling what you may find."
"Acknowledged Scotty. Just remember, we'll be down there for a maximum of 10 hours, if we're not back by then, send someone else down, got that?"
"Got it captain." came his reply
"Good, we'll be seeing you soon, Kirk out." Kirk said as he hanged up. "Alright gentlemen, this is it, do we have everything?"
"All the equipment is in here and in perfect working order captain." Came Mr. Spock's reply.
"Good." Kirk said. "Well then... let's see what we can find." With that, he powered up the shuttlecraft and flew out of the open hangar doors and down towards the planet.
The bridge
"And they're of." Said ensign Chekov as the remaining members on the bridge watched the shuttle depart for the planet via the bridge's viewscreen.
"I wonder if they'll be alright." Said Uhura. "I mean... if the get in trouble, they can't radio us for help. I wonder if..."
"Ah, don't worry about them lass." Scotty said to her. "They've been in worse scrapes in the past. I have full confidence in their abilities."
"He's right you know." Chekov said to Uhura as he turned to her from his station. "The captain has a way to get out of the most dangerous situations, I've no doubt they'll make it back safe."
"Couldn't have said it better myself lad." Scotty said with a smile. "Still, I suppose Uhura is right." Scotty thought to himself as he watched the shuttlecraft disappear down towards the planet. "We're always going to worry about those we care for, no matter how tough or smart they seem."
The shuttlecraft has landed on the planet's surface, somewhere in the Northen part of the planet. The landing party departed the craft and got a look at their environment. The shuttle had laned in a clearing in a kind of tropical jungle. Mr. Spock got out his tricorder and scan the surrounding area.
"Hmm, fascinating." Spock said to himself in wonder. "Many of these plants appear to be similar to some found on earth."
Sulu looked towards a few bushes and spotted something interesting. "Hey, over here." he said before walking over to the bushes before kneeling and inspecting a special kind of flower. When the other three noticed the flower, Sulu said, "It's a tiger lily."
"But I thought those went extinct several centuries ago." McCoy said in confusion.
"On earth, maybe." Said Mr. Spock. "But the tricorder is picking up several different plant species that went extinct several centuries ago. Let's see, the Star Magnolia and the Tulipa Edulis, to name a few."
Getting up from his knees, Sulu said, "But those are all plants that used to grow in Japan."
"You don't suppose they all naturally evolved on this planet?" McCoy asked Mr. Spock
"I can't be sure of that right now doctor, we will have to do some for investigating before we conclude anything."
"Well then, let's get to work gentlemen." Kirk said before they separated into pairs, Kirk and Spock went in on direction while McCoy and Sulu went another direction.
The Enterprise bridge
It had been 30 minutes since the landing party had made it to the planet and the crew were going about their duties like normal, that is, until Chekov noticed something on his instrument panel that made him blink in shock before turning to Scotty and said, "Mr. Scott. I read three ships approaching the Enterprise."
"What?" Scotty said in confusion. This was a newly discovered system, there shouldn't be any ships here. "What kind of ships?" he asked Chekov.
Chekov checked his instruments and had to double take just to make sure he wasn't seeing things. "Sir, it's... it's three Klingon ships."
The whole bridge froze at that statement. The Klingons where probably one of the most aggressive species in the galaxy, their entire civilization revolved around warfare and fighting. The Federation and the Klingon empire had been at odds with each other for a long time. And now, three ships were here in what was supposed to be a newly discovered galaxy. Something was definitely wrong here.
Scotty snapped out of his shocked state and began giving orders. "Put the ship on yellow alert, Uhura open a communications channel with the lead ship. And somebody give me a visual!"
"Aye, sir." Uhura nodded and suddenly and alarm came on.
The viewscreen came on and showed three Klingon ships heading towards the Enterprise. The three ships, known as 'Birds of Prey', were now a short distance away from the Enterprise.
"Sir, they're not responding to any frequency." Uhura said in urgency.
"They're starting to surround us." Chekov said from his console. " Ther're pointing their weapons at us but... they're not opening fire?"
"Mr. Scott." Uhura said in urgency. "I'm getting a signal from the lead ship."
Scotty was very nervous now. Three Klingon ships could easily destroy the Enterprise if they wanted to, and the ship didn't have the speed or the firepower to fight back or escape. And even if they wanted to, the landing party was still on the planet. Sighing he said, "Put it up on the viewscreen."
The screen flickered before a person appeared on screen. Uhura, Chekov and Scotty had shocked looks on their faces as they recognized the person on the screen.
The man (or Klingon) on the screen was tall and imposing. He caried an air of respect. He looked almost identical to a middle-aged man in his mid-forties. He had black hair, a circle beard and hazel eyes. He was clad in a vest made of a gold-colored, metalic substance over a black, long-sleeved undershirt. The rest of his clothes were obscured by the viewscreen but they Enterprise crew knew that he was the captain of the ship.
"Captain Koloth." Mr. Scott said in a whisper.
The now named Koloth smirked in amusement. "Ah, the famous Enterprise crew. Been a long time hasn't it." Then he noticed who stood near the captain's chair and he stopped smirking and glared at Scotty
"Mr. Montgomery Scott." He said in a low hateful voice as he rubbed his chin. "You are a hard person to forget, and we Klingons have a long memory. Can I assume that it was you who beamed aboard several Tribbles to my ship when we last met?"
"Aye, that was me." Scotty said without a hint of fear or shame.
"What are you doing here?" Chekov asked with hatred in his voice. "This is a newly discovered planet. How do you even..."
Chekov was cut off by Koloth laughing, which only confused them more. When Koloth had stopped laughing he said, "You discovered this planet only recently? We discovered it several months ago. And we've been working on a secret project down there that's going to change this galaxy." here he paused and looked around the bridge.
"Where's Captain Kirk?" he asked. The bridge crew were silent and glared hatefully at the Klingon captain. Koloth regained his smirk. "Don't tell me he was on the shuttle heading for the planet?" Again, the crew were silent. "Well, in that case I have to..."
"The captain is not easily killed!" Chekov shouted as he sat up in his chair. "Whatever you're planning, the captain will stop you."
Koloth still smirked and shook his head. "Captain Kirk doesn't even know we're on this planet, and I'm afraid that he will have bigger problems to deal with down there." he said ominously.
Scotty, Uhura and Chekov shared concerned looks with each other. "What... What's down there exactly? Scotty asked cautiously.
"Let's just say that Captain Kirk will have to deals with creatures beyond anything this galaxy has seen before. And then Kirk will wish that he had never left the safety of his ship." Koloth said before chuckling darkly.
"Are you going to kill us?" Uhura asked in a scared voice.
"No, not yet." He said. "I have a use for you yet, but for the moment I must attend to something important." Koloth said before the screen went black
"Sir, what do we do?" asked several of the other bridge crew members.
Chekov and Uhura turned towards Scotty who looked down at his feet and said, "I don't know. I don't think there's anything we can do."
Meanwhile, back on the planet
Sulu and McCoy were examining the flora of the planet when Mccoy said while smiling contently, "You know, this place isn't so bad after all."
"See, you really need to lighten up sometimes doc." Sulu said as he sniffed a tiger lily.
McCoy looked around the forest when he paused. The doctor lost his smile as he gained a thoughtful look. "But there's one thing that still bothers me. We've seen a lot of plants and trees here but how come we haven't seen any animals."
Sulu paused as he looked around. "You... your right doctor." then he listened for a few seconds. "I can't hear any birds or insects."
"All these plants here wouldn't be able to live without animals and insects to help pollinate them." McCoy said in confusion.
Before they could wonder about it some more, the ground started to shake, causing the two to lose their footing. When the shaking had stopped, they got back up on their feet.
Sulu looked up at the trees and he froze in shock and fear. Noticing his expression, McCoy looked to where Sulu was looking, and he looked in shock as we'll.
Standing a several meters away from them were three giant praying mantises. They had large orange round eyes, two large sickle-shaped claws each and green skin with a smooth texture. They looked to be around 45 meters tall and didn't appear to have noticed the two yet. McCoy snapped out of his shock and turned to Sulu and shock him out of his shock. "We' need to get out of here, fast!" he whispered urgently.
Sulu nodded before they ran back the way they came.
Five minutes earlier, with Kirk and Spock
Kirk and Spock were walking around and scanning their surroundings with their tricorders. "Anything Mr. Spock?"
"Negative captain." came Mr. Spock's reply. There doesn't seem to be anything in this area that is causing the planet wide interference."
Kirk thought for a second before he pulled out his communicator to call Mccoy and Sulu.
"You have come." called two voices, startling Kirk and Spock. Kirk put away his communicator and pulled out his phaser pistol while Spock did the same.
"Who's there?!" Kirk said sharply.
"Down here." came the two voices again. Kirk and Spock turned towards the source of the voices, which turned out to be a small rock. But before they could question the voices once more, two figures appeared from behind the rock. They were two women who looked to be around 20 years old, but they were so small you could literally fit them into the palm of your hand. The two were completely identical to each other and looked to be of Japanese descent and were dressed in some sort of tribal clothing.
Kirk had his mouth open in surprise while Mr. Spock just raised his eyebrow in wonder. They both put away their phasers and approached the two tiny women.
"Who are you? What did you mean when you said, 'you have come'?" Kirk asked in confusion. He had seen a lot of strange things during his time on the Enterprise, but this was one of the weirder things he's seen.
"We are the Shobijin." The two little women said in perfect unison with each other. "We are natives of this planet and we've known that there would come others from the depths of space to aid us in our time of need."
Kirk looked to Spock in in shock before he turned back to the Shobijin. "How do you know of space? We would have encountered you're race eons ago if..."
"We don't have the technology for space travel, and we know about it because others from space arrived here several months ago."
Kirk and Spock were very surprised to hear this (though Spock didn't show it), and Kirk asked, "Who arrived here?"
"I believe they call themselves the Klingons." The Shobijin answered much to Kirk's shock which turned to anger. If the Klingons were here, they were clearly up to something. Before they could say anything more, the earth started shaking and they all lost their balance. When the earthquake had stopped, the Shobijin looked towards each other in alarm.
"We must go, it isn't safe here." They said urgently.
"What's going on? What was that?" Kirk asked seriously.
"The Klingons have been digging for something very dangerous. But we can't talk here, we must go somewhere safe." The two twins said. Before Kirk or Spock could offer a response, out of the bushes came Sulu and McCoy.
"Captain!" Sulu shouted while he panted as he came to a stop.
"Sulu, Bones, what happened!?" Kirk asked.
"We were looking around the area when the earth started shaking, and after it was over, we looked up and saw three giant praying mantises!" McCoy shouted in fear and shock.
Kirk and Spock looked at each other in confusion (well, Kirk anyway, Spock just raised his eyebrow). Three giant praying mantises wasn't the weirdest thing they've encountered, but it was still pretty extraordinary.
"Kamacuras." said the Shobijin who Sulu and McCoy finally noticed and looked just as shocked as Kirk had been.
"Uh, did we miss something Jim?" McCoy asked in confusion.
"These are the Shobijin." Mr. Spock explained to the two. "We met them a short time ago. They were just explaining that the Klingons are on this planet."
Sulu and McCoy were both surprised to hear this, but suddenly the group all heard a loud shriek, followed by two more shrieks.
The group turned towards the direction of the shrieks and felt the ground shake, but the shaking felt more like footsteps than a regular earthquake. Soon the three giant mantises appeared over the tree line. They looked down at the group and started to slowly advance on them
"We need to get out of here!" the Shobijin said urgently. They pointed in the direction behind the rock they stood in front of. "This way, hurry!"
Kirk stooped down and picked up the two twins before running of in the direction they pointed in, with Spock, Sulu and McCoy following close behind him, not bothering to question where they were going.
"Where did those things even come from?!" Kirk shouted as he ran.
"The Kamacuras are native to this planet." The Shobijin explained. "They usually live alone but sometimes they'll form packs to hunt, although it's very rare."
"Yes, very fascinating. How about we save the lecture for when we're out of danger!" McCoy shouted in annoyance.
They ran as fast as they could, but they heard the shrieks of the Kamacuras right behind them.
Soon they came out of the forest and arrived at a beach. The four members of Starfleet looked around in confusion. "What the... why did you tell us to run here!?" McCoy shouted in anger at the twins, who ignored him and said to Kirk, "Put us down."
Although unsure what they were trying to do, Kirk did as they asked and put them down on the beach.
The shrieks were coming nearer and soon the three Kamacuras appeared out of the forest. They looked down at the small group of humans on the beach and walked over to the group, where it seemed to be analyzing them.
"Phasers, everyone!" Kirk shouted, "Set to stun!"
The other three complied before they all fired their phasers at the lead Kamacuras' head. It didn't really hurt it but seemed to annoy it. It shook its head in annoyance before it seemed to glare at the group.
"Well, that didn't work." Sulu said in fear.
"A most obvious observation, Mr. Sulu." Mr. Spock said in his usual deadpan manner.
The lead Kamacuras brought up its right claw, clearly intending to smash the group. Kirk thought about running, but what good would that do. They can't outrun these huge creatures.
But before it could crush them, it paused and turned its head left to look at something in the ocean, the two other Kamacuras looking as well.
Kirk, Mccoy, Spock and Sulu were confused by this turn of events and looked to see what had caught their attention. In the ocean, heading straight towards them were what appeared to be a large collection of pointed rocks.
Suddenly they stopped a few meters from the beach. The Kamacuras eyed the rocks with cation and even fear. Kirk, Sulu and Mccoy looked at the rocks in confusion while Mr. Spock raised his eyebrow in wonder. The Shobijin actually seemed to smile at the rocks.
Suddenly, the water around the rocks started bubbling and a giant tail appeared out of the water behind the rocks, followed by the rocks rising out of the water, revealing a massive form underneath.
As the water cascaded of the massive form, it was revealed for all to see. Standing in the water was a massive dinosaur/reptilian monster. It stood on its hind legs. It was covered with brown scales, it's body rippling with muscles and the 'rocks' turned out to be massive dorsal spines that went from its head to its tail. Its hands ended in vicious looking claws and its crocodilian maw had teeth the size of houses. Its yellow eyes glared at the three Kamacuras, who cowered in the presence of this alpha predator.
But what was really scary was the fact that it was 100 meters tall! Easily towering over the Kamacuras.
Sulu and Mccoy had their mouths open in amazement and fear at this creature. Mr. Spock didn't show any reaction but anyone who knew him could see the signs of his internal struggle to remain in control of his emotions as even he felt intimidated by this creature. The Shobijin were smiling brightly at the sight of this creature.
Kirk, in all honesty felt more intimidated by this creature than anything else he had encountered in his life. This creature was beyond anything he had seen before, and he had been face to face with some of the most dangerous and bizarre beings in the galaxy.
The dinosaur continued to glare at the Kamacuras, who stood rigid with fear. A few seconds later, the Kamacuras spread their wings and flew away to wherever they came from.
The dinosaur watched the three insects depart from the area with a look of satisfaction on its face.
"Who... what... is that?" Sulu stammered out in shock and fear.
"That, is Godzilla, the king of the monsters." The Shobijin said with smiles on their faces.
Then, Godzilla moved. He leaned back, sucking in a huge amount of air before opening its jaws and letting out a mighty earth-shattering roar.
"SKREEONK!".
The landing party had to cover their ears because of the sheer volume of Godzilla's roar. It was like listening to the cry of a long-forgotten god. When it had died down, Godzilla looked down at the landing party.
The Shobijin ran in front of the group and said, "Thank you for helping us Godzilla." while bowing. To the landing party's surprise, Godzilla nodded before he turned around and dived into the ocean.
As the landing party watched him depart, they had a lot of questions in their heads, with Kirks main question being, "What have we gotten ourselves into?"
And that's a wrap. I tried my best to get the characters personalities down, let me know how i did in the review section.
Another thing i'd like to mention, I wasn't sure how tall the monsters would be. My idea was too pick different kaiju from different movies (Showa, Heisei, millennium etc.) but different sources gave different lengths to the kaiju, so i wasn't exactly sure how tall they should be. Godzilla in this story is supposed to be the "monsterverse" version while the Kamacuras are the "Final Wars" version.
Also, this story is more of a side project, my main projekt will be my next X-men: Evolution story so don't expect this story to get updated so often.
So that's basically all i have to say, let me know what you thought of it, until next time.
