Darkness as far as the eye can see nothing but two travelers could be seen in the abandoned street. The travelers looked like quite the odd couple. One had beautiful silver hair dressed in a gorgeous dress with a combination of white and purple. The other had dark black hair with a very odd sense of fashion wearing a black and orange tracksuit.
Satella: "Thank you so much Subaru for coming with me to the loot house. You've done far too much; you don't have to help me anymore."
Subaru: "nonsense we've come this far so I might as well finish helping you. Also spending time with a stunning and beautiful girl is a bonus."
Satella was shocked to hear herself once again being called beautiful and so she blushes as she says "Stop Joking around I'm not beautiful."
Subaru sighed but he had already realized the half elf had low self confidence and he hoped to fix that problem but only if she was fine with taking him in.
Subaru: "Anyways I think it's about time we go in, I'll go first and you just wait here til I come back."
Satella: "Are you sure? It is my insignia and it's my fault for losing it."
Subaru waved her off and said "It wasn't your fault I'll go and get it but maybe if you give me some words of encouragement like Please don't take too long I would like to give you a hug after you come back. Then I definitely would be a lot more motivated."
Satella: "I can't do that, I don't think you would want me touching you."
Subaru: "Alright Satella I'll be going in now, so please wait for me. Okay?"
Satella froze but then she shook her head and said "If you can get my insignia and come back in one piece I will apologize"
Subaru was confused but before he could ask he was then waved off by Satella.
As Subaru walked in and left. Satella was left behind with her thoughts.
Satella: "That Subaru, he is such a good boy. He's helping me and he doesn't even know me."
Satella couldn't help but admire the boy for his kindness for helping someone like herself.
Satella started to fiddle with her fingers as she patiently waited for her partner to come back.
As she waited, she heard a loud crash. She had no idea what could've happened but she immediately rushed for the door.
Satella "oh no Subaru must've gotten hurt. I'll never forgive myself if he got hurt, due to my failure in keeping my insignia safe."
She opened the door and was immediately overwhelmed by a strong scent. The air got so thick and she was having trouble breathing but that didn't matter, the only thing on her mind was keeping her precious partner safe and seeing if he was okay.
As she walked further into the loot house she called out his name.
"Su?"
But before she could even continue calling out his name she felt an overwhelming heat. Then she heard a screech followed by heat that was then followed up with a painful burn. She could not feel the left side of her body. As she fell to the floor she spotted black hair and a body lying in a pool of its own blood.
Satella immediately realized it was Subaru but she could not do anything as her body was already shutting down and her conscience was leaving her. While her consciousness was fading and was already giving up, there was another who couldn't and wouldn't accept the fate they were given. Said person called out towards her and said…
"S-Satella I promise I will s-save you" Subaru would not give up and with his remaining strength he reached out and grasped her hand.
Satella realized that Subaru would not accept their fate and a small part of her couldn't help but admire him for it. As she felt her hand being grasped she used her last bit of strength and she intertwined their fingers and grasped his hand back.
"Lia, hey Lia. Hello? Emilia!"
The half elf jumped back in shock and looked towards the direction in which she heard her name.
"Puck? What's going on?"
"Lia, I'm sorry for shouting but you zoned out and stopped running."
Emilia then realized she was talking to her spirit Puck and was confused, wasn't she with Subaru and why is it so bright?
Puck: "Hey Lia is something wrong, you seem troubled."
Emilia:" What, Puck where are we and where is Subaru?"
Puck: "Suba-who? We're at the capital and we were chasing the thief who stole your insignia. Then you stopped all of a sudden."
Emilia: "Chasing? What wasn't I just at the loot house?"
Puck asked in an annoyed tone "What are you talking about Lia? What loot house and Subaru sounds like a boy's name. Are you messing with boys behind my back?"
Emilia shook her head and proceeded to try and control her father's wrath.
"No, no we met him today, you were there with me and he was super nice and promised to help me get my insignia back."
Puck was dumbfounded, he had no memory of such an event and of this boy. He didn't want to think his daughter was going insane but he had to know.
"What boy Emilia, I can tell you aren't lying but I have no memory of a boy helping us. Are you sure you are okay? Come let's go take a seat."
Puck then dragged Emilia and she was shocked, how could Puck not remember Subaru, he left quite the impression and why is it daytime? They were at the loot house when the sun set.
"Lia, are you sure you're okay because Subaru might not be real. Are you sure you didn't dream about him?"
Emilia waved her hands up and down as they took a seat. "No Puck he was certainly real, we saw him getting beat up and so I saved him and then I asked if he knew where my insignia is but he said he didn't know but he would love to help me find it. We searched all day and we tracked the thief down to a loot house in the slums!"
"Sorry Lia but I have zero memory of such a person and certainly no loot house. Remember we had just gotten separated from Ram only minutes ago."
Emilia was going crazy "what come on Puck he had those adorable mean eyes and he had weird clothes that were black, yellow and white. He also had black hair! You know what, look at me!"
Puck watched as Emilia got up and then she struck a pose. It was super odd as he watched her stand straight and stick her hand with a pointer finger towards the sky and had her other hand across her waist.
"He did this pose, he looked so cool doing it. Surely you remember now!"
Puck was flabbergasted, his daughter had officially lost her mind, she was babbling on about a person who didn't exist and was doing weird poses.
Emilia realized from Puck's expression that he thought she had lost her mind. Emilia had enough and dragged Puck with her towards a familiar alley way.
"Watch Puck if you don't believe me we are going to track him down right now!" Emilia said with new found confidence.
Puck: "Wait Lia what about your insi-"
Emilia: "Shut your trap Puck, we are going to find him right now just keep up with me."
Emilia then ran off and jumped on top of buildings to find him a lot sooner, as she ran she could only think about the overwhelming burn she felt and If all those events she experienced with Subaru were just a hallucination. She finally found the alleyway. As she looked around she was surprised to find nothing.
Puck: "See Lia, I'm sorry to say this but this Subaru boy isn't real."
Emilia: "No Puck he is, he has to be, I know he is real."
"Hey! What are you babbling on about, give us all the money you got right now!"
As Emilia turned towards the sound of the voices she recognized the three buffoons who pounded away at Subaru. She was sure they knew who Subaru was!
"You three, I know you know who Subaru is!"
"Suba-who? What are you talking about bitch?" Said the skinny thief.
"Subaru! You guys were beating him up and then me and Puck came to rescue him!"
"What the hell are you talking about I've never seen you before in my life! And I've certainly never met some Subaru!" Exclaimed the bigger thief.
Emilia was starting to get annoyed. She remembered these idiots and how could they forget her.
Emilia: "Fine if you don't remember him get out of here and stop doing bad things!"
"Hey hey hold on little girl, we still need your money so give us all your valuables!" Said the small thief(ironic).
"Now I've had enough, anyone who dares to hurt my daughter shall suffer my wrath now get out of my sight!" Growled Puck
Emilia was tired of this so she just shot three ice pillars and knocked the thieves out cold.
"See Lia, even the three thieves you claimed to have saved Subaru from had no idea who he is."
A lightbulb turned on in Emilia's head " You just said the three thieves and I told you they existed and so logically that means Subaru must exist too."
Puck was shocked as he put the pieces together. Emilia had only been in the capital for a couple minutes but how could she have possibly known about these 3 thieves. Maybe he was going old and was losing his memory.
"You do have a point Lia, what else did you do with this boy?" Asked Puck
Emilia started beaming with joy as her father finally believed her and so she started to recall what they did.
"Oh I remember we went and rescued a little girl and returned her to her family. Come on we must find that girl she must know where Subaru is!"
Puck just sighed and he followed her as they searched he continued to think to himself. This couldn't be possible, if Emilia found the little girl and Subaru then that means she couldn't have been lying which leaves the question ``what happened to Puck's memory?"
As they walked around Emilia heard a familiar cry and she came across the same little girl.
"Ah little girl are you lost?"
The little girl backed away and started to cry because she was afraid of Emilia's appearance. Emilia remembered how the girl got scared of her so she had to think fast.
"Oh please don't cry, My name is Emilia and you see this guy over here?" Emilia then pointed towards Puck.
"He's super friendly and he would just love it if you pet him and gave him back rubs. So come I'll help you find your mom and dad and you can play with Puck!"
"Hey I never agreed to this." Puck tried to protest but he saw Emilia pleading with him and she was too cute to deny. "Fine yes you can scratch my fur."
"Ok big sis let's go." The little girl took Emilia's hand and took a hold of Puck as she played with his fur.
Emilia walked hand in hand with the little girl but was saddened at the fact that Subaru wasn't here to make silly jokes with her. Emilia then came across a horrifying thought…
"Oh no if everyone forgets what happened, will Subaru forget all the fun we had, or even worse be scared of me? No I must not think like that, I have to find him and try not to scare him."
Emilia continued to walk with the little girl and asked "Say what's your name? And have you seen a black spiky haired boy with weird clothes?"
The little girl shook her head and said "My name is Plum and I'm sorry I've never seen a boy with that description."
Emilia sighed and then she spotted the appa stand that Plum's father sold at.
"There is my dad's appa stand, thank you so much big sis." Plum happily shouted
Kadomon(appa guy) heard his daughter's voice and slightly recoiled seeing Emilia.
"Plum what are you doing and where is your mom? Also who's this?" Asked Kadomon.
"I don't know papa but I ran off by accident and got lost. This is big sister Emilia and she found me and helped me come back to you. This here is Puck and he is my big sister's pet cat."
Kadomon sighed and said "Anyways thanks so much for bringing my daughter back safe and sound and if there is anything I can do please let me know."
Emilia waved her hands back and forth and said "Don't worry about it, your daughter was a joy to play with but I do have one request if you don't mind."
Kadomon: "Of course ask away."
"Ah thank you so much but have you seen a boy with black spiky hair and white, black and yellow clothes?" Emilia asked as Puck floated up to her head
"Hmmm now that I think about it I did see a boy with that description. He was such a weird kid and he looked like he was zoned out and wasn't aware of his surroundings."
Puck's eyes burst out of their sockets and his jaw flew open at the reveal that such a person actually existed.
Emilia jumped up and immediately recollected herself. "I'm sorry for my embarrassing display but thank you so much for the help!"
Kadomon smiled and waved at her "come back anytime and when you do I'll give you a discount on my world famous appas.
Emilia waved back and took off running and thought to herself. Subaru was in fact real and alive, and on top of that he had that same look in his eye like Emilia did when she first woke back up after the loot house incident.
Emilia: "See Puck I told you he is real, I knew it and I can't wait to see him again."
Puck's head was spinning and he didn't know what to think but said "Well Lia I'm sorry for doubting you but I don't know how I feel about my daughter being so excited to see a boy. Well where do we go now?"
Emilia blushed at her excitement to see Subaru again being called out by her father.
Emilia: I know! We are going to the loot house that's the only place he has got to be so come it's starting to get dark!"
They continued to run across the capital and headed straight towards the slums. Emilia was overjoyed but she was thinking to herself "Oh goodness, what am I going to do if he doesn't remember me? I have to be nice and kind to him so he doesn't freak out but if he does remember me I will hug him and bring him back to the mansion."
Eventually they came across the loot house Emilia had almost forgotten about her insignia but if everything worked out the way she saw it then Felt would be here with Subaru and she would have to be on guard.
"Okay Lia, is this the loot house?" Asked Puck.
"Yes Puck, this is the place but be prepared to fight because there might be dangerous people here and I still need to get my insignia from the thief."
Puck prepared himself and got ready as Emilia opened the door. Emilia was super excited but all traces of excitement disappeared in an instant!
The excitement she felt was replaced with terror. What she saw in front of her would traumatize her for life. She couldn't believe it and it broke her leaving her a crying mess. What she saw was her partner Subaru but he was crying with his insides falling out of his gut. Sitting next to him was a woman and she was smiling and laughing as she played with Subaru's guts with a perverted smile. Subaru with tears flowing down his face and blood spilling out his mouth muttered out one last phrase before he died.
Emilia slowly put her hand on her mouth as she muttered out "S-Suba-r-u?"
Subaru: "S-Satella? I'm s-sorry"
The woman then sighed as she saw the light leave Subaru's eyes and turned towards the intruder. She realized it was her target, the half elf that she was sent to kill. Elsa could not wait to see how Emilia's insides would look like.
Puck was absolutely disgusted and angered by this crazy bitch. Not only did she kill Emilia's friend but she committed an even bigger crime; she crushed Emilia's heart. He could only go insane at hearing the sobs coming from his daughter and was ready to absolutely destroy the bitch in front of him.
Emilia was full on crying now as she looked at Subaru's lifeless eyes and looked around the room and saw a huge giant lumped over with his throat sliced open and across from him laid a small girl(the thief) that was chopped in half. As Emilia turned back to the killer of her first friend she heard a screech and watched as said killer lunged towards her before it all went dark.
