1. Albus Dumbledore
It happened on the top of Astronomy Tower that Albus Dumbledore, half-dead and disarmed, pleaded, "Severus, please".
Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore. "Avada Kedavra!"
That's how Severus Snape stayed true to his friend and mentor.
2. Lily Potter
It happened in 'The Great Beyond' (aka After-Life Domain) that parents of Harry Potter, along with his godfather and his favorite teacher felt the summon of Resurrection Stone.
So they went to Forbidden Forest and met Harry on his way to Voldemort's camp.
And Harry talked to them and looked in their faces, basking in their love and kindness.
And absorbing their courage.
He needed a lot of courage to do what he had to do.
He felt almost ready ... just a little bit more ... OK, time to go!
With resolution he made the first step.
And stopped.
He realized, that no, he could not; he just could not calmly walk towards his own death.
Breathing heavily, hating himself, he lowered his gaze, not daring to meet the eyes of four people who cared about him so much.
And while he stood frozen ...
For After-Lifers the time flows differently.
While for Harry it was a single moment - for them many things had happened.
Remus said, "Dumbledore told us about this crucial point. In order to survive, Harry has to sacrifice himself. It's his only chance."
Sirius whispered, "He needs more courage, more than we four possess."
James sighed, "We all know who is the bravest man in our Domain. Lily, you are the one, for whom he would do it."
Lily nodded, "Wish me luck."
So, Lily Potter came to Severus Snape and pleaded, "Severus, please. My son needs your courage."
Snape remembered how he, when they all were alive, begged Dumbledore to save Lily.
He looked at her and repeated Dumbledore's question from long ago,
- And what will you give me in return?
And she echoed his answer from long ago,
- Anything.
Snape conjured a small vial and gave it to Lily.
"Your tears," he said softly.
Lily was startled, color drained from her face.
- Tears of the victim?
Snape stood still, just looking at her.
- The key ingredient for the Boycott Concoction ... That's cruel, Severus.
Snape smiled sadly, "You promised."
A little bit later...
- Harry, drink this. It's the Essence of Courage.
(Lily did not mention that Snape's blood was the key ingredient)
Harry drank it.
And then he was finally able to fulfill his destiny.
Which was death (as he knew).
And coming back (which he did not know yet).
And victory.
That's how Severus Snape stayed true to his love.
3. Peter Pettigrew
It happened in the After-Life Domain that the man, who betrayed parents of Harry Potter, was captured and immobilized by the man, who protected Harry Potter.
Wormtail pleaded, "Severus, please, no!"
Snape stood still, just looking at him.
Wormtail panicked.
- Not Boycott!
- I just made a mistake!
- Just one small mistake!
- Lily would spare me!
But Severus Snape stayed true to his hate.
He forced Boycott Concoction down Wormtail's throat.
Since then the betrayer is doomed to the eternity of solitude.
It's not just people who ignore him.
In The Great Beyond it's different.
The whole Universe takes part in The Boycott.
He walks and leaves no footprints.
He speaks and is not heard.
And whenever he tries to hang himself - the noose would not tighten.
Always.
Do the characters ring true?
