Sheamus noticed Papaya before she noticed him. His childhood friend had finally come to visit him after not having seen each other for close to two years. They might not see each other as often as he would like but they made sure to call each other at least once a week. He snuck up behind her and placed his hands over her eyes.
"Guess who," he said.
"Santa Claus?" She asked.
"Have you been good this year?" He chuckled.
"No, Santa, I've been really bad," she chuckled back.
"How bad?" He asked.
"Deserving of a spanking bad," she answered.
"Well, fuck me!" He laughed.
"I'm trying," she said.
He removed his hands from her eyes. She turned around with a smile on her face. Her forest green eyes always had such life in them, and they went so well with her long, orange hair. Her smile dropped to a facial expression of surprise.
"Sheamus!" She said loudly. "What did you do to your hair?"
"Huh?" He asked confused.
"Where's the rooster?" She asked.
"Oh!" He laughed. "Sometimes I forget you don't watch me on tv, which I think we need to have a new conversation about, by the way. I'm very disappointed in you, Papaya."
"Double spanking disappointed?" She teased.
"Oh, shut up!" He laughed. "Come here, precious."
He pulled her in for a hug and held her tight. He took in that familiar scent of vanilla and cherries that always lingered on her.
"I missed you," he said. "So bloody much."
"I missed you too," she said. "Still confused about the missing rooster though."
"I dropped the mohawk a while back. It was fun for a while but I prefer this better. Less styling and it fits better with my hats. You know I have a thing for hats," he said.
"Oh, I know," she grinned. "Weird man."
"You love me," he grinned back.
"That I do," she said. "Alright, show me around. Let me meet all the hot, single men."
"Not a chance. You can look but I will raise hell if I see any of them trying to touch you," he said.
"Mean!" She pouted.
He took her hand and walked her inside so she could meet his friends. She already knew Drew from when they lived back in Ireland and she used to travel the indi scenes thin with Sheamus. After the obligatory hug with Drew, he stepped over to Sheamus and watched as Dolph started a conversation with Papaya.
"I swear she looks better and better as time passes," Drew said.
"Like a fine bottle of wine," Sheamus sighed longingly.
"Isn't it about time you open it?" Drew asked.
"No," Sheamus answered.
"One day she won't be here anymore, Sheamus," Drew said. "And when that day comes, you're gonna regret all the time you wasted not telling her how you feel."
Sheamus turned his head to look at Drew. He opened his mouth to speak but Drew cut him off before he could get a word out.
"Save it. You've already said it many times before," Drew said. "And you know I'm right."
"Whatever," Sheamus said. "She's moving to Florida, by the way. Next month. A promotion on her job is taking her there."
"See," Drew chuckled. "It'll all work out for you in the end. She's coming to your state. She can even move in with you. Just fucking tell her already."
Papaya finished her conversation with Dolph and walked back to Sheamus and Drew.
"What are you two up to?" Papaya asked.
"Just talking about future dreams," Drew smirked.
Sheamus threw a hard look at Drew before looking back at Papaya.
"Dolph was nice," Papaya said.
"How nice?" Sheamus asked.
"I don't know. Nice like he's supposed to be when meeting a stranger for the first time. Isn't he always like that, or do I just have a face to make friends?" Papaya asked.
"You're my friend," Sheamus said.
"And mine," Drew quickly said.
Drew leaned in close to Sheamus.
"Don't fucking lose it now," Drew whispered. "Act normal."
Sheamus coughed and smiled at Papaya.
"Do you wanna see the ring?" Sheamus asked.
"Hell yeah!" Papaya grinned. "Drew, tell Sheamus to bring the rooster back. I loved that look."
"I most certainly will not. That was awful," Drew laughed.
"You're both so mean," Papaya said.
"Come on, precious," Sheamus chuckled. "I have to go over my match with Seth soon so you can get to watch."
"Uh, half naked, hot men in the ring," Papaya smirked. "Take me to my heaven, Sheamus."
