Sakura returned from her classes in the university of Konoha, to a suspiciously quiet and dark apartment that she called home for the last year. She had been renting the room with a law major who went to the same university, called Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke belonged to a large family that ran a huge corporation called Sharingan Inc. and his father was the CEO of the company. In the past year Sakura had fallen head over heels for Sasuke but she was skeptical that a complete chick-magnet and heir of one of the best companies in the world would want to have anything to do with a simple medical major who came from a middle class family and only afforded the same college as him because of a fully paid scholarship.
She walked into the apartment reception and was met with their landlord- Kakuzu.
"Sakura, you gotta take the stairs today- the elevators stopped because the entire building is facing a electricity shortage."
Sakura's sweat dropped, if there was anything she feared as much as failing college- It was her phobia of the dark.
"Y-yeah, T-thanks for the warning." She gave a weak smile and walked towards the stairs hoping to dear life that Sasuke was in the apartment because if the dark wasn't bad enough, being alone in the dark would surely given her a heart attack.
She slowly approached the door and twisted the door knob open- she walked into the quiet room right into the hall.
"S-sasuke... Are you there?"
She was met with nothing but silence in return.
She made her way into the kitchen, and every step she took made her feel like someone was going to jump out at her and drag her to hell.
She whimpered at the thought, but still went into the hall. Suddenly a voice behind her startled her
"Sakura? OH SHIT-
Sakura hadn't even thought properly but as she heard the voice she turned around and punched as hard as she could, she now realised she punched Sasuke right in the face giving him a black eye.
"Sorry sorry sorry, let me see. Shit sorry. This is your fault you snuck up on me!"
She ran to the fridge got some ice and quickly placed it over his eyes getting rewarded by a short hiss that Sasuke produced due to the coldness of the ice against his swollen eyes.
"Why didn't you reply to me when I called out to you?"
"What? I just came in from college."
"Oh."
"What the heck are you doing here anyways aren't you afraid of the dark?"
"ehhh, yeah." Sakura replied slightly scratching her head due to the embarrassment of having to say it out loud.
Sasuke looked like he was thinking a bit.
"Come here-"
Sasuke clutched Sakura's wrists and led him out of the apartment.
"Where are we going?"
"The roof."
"But I thought we weren't allowed up there- Kakuzu said maintenance staff only."
"Pfft and you believed him? He doesn't allow people there cause that's where he hides his - nevermind."
"Why are we going there?"
"Cause your scared of the dark .Now enough question-just follow me."
Sakura walked up the stairs and when the finally reached the last floor, Sasuke picked up the doormat and picked out a key, which he used to open up a door leading Sakura to the roof.
A cold wave of air hit Sakura as she gazed over the city coated with small lights looking absolutely beautiful. It was so calm, so serene.
"I can't believe I haven't been here before."
"Yeah, I come up here when I get stressed up from college. Just don't go over there if you don't wanna get traumatised."
Sasuke took out two foldable chairs from a small shed like thing that was on the roof.
He placed them perfectly overlooking the cityscape, as a lot of people scurried about to do their business, The combinations of lights and high-rise buildings and small streets coated with snow. Sakura looked over them as she sat on the chairs.
"Oh shit, wait here."
"What happened?"
"Just wait here."
Sasuke ran down the stairs and appeared later on with some food and 6 cans of beer.
"The electricity is down, so the fridge won't be working either- I thought we should finish these off or they'll go bad."
"Sasuke, things don't go bad in a couple of hours." Sakura smirked- she knew he just wanted to drink the beer and just needed the excuse.
"Shut up, You want me to put these back?" Sasuke smirked too.
"No. No , give me a beer."
Sasuke tossed her a lite beer and sat down beside her. A tranquil silence fell over both of them. Neither of them spoke a word while looking over the scenery just enjoying each others company and drinking beer and eating something like chips or candy.
Sakura sneezed from the cold, and to her surprise Sasuke scooted his chair closer to her and picked out a blanket from the same shed he got the chairs from.
She didn't even care about anything right now. The crush. The work. The power shortage. It was all forgotten as all that remained was her and Sasuke, sitting on the roof on a cold December night watching the city get draped with a thin sheet of white.
She laid her head on Sasuke's shoulder and draped the blanket he brought her over both of them.
"You know, before college and everything. My entire life has just been a huge contest. A contest for my father's approval. A contest to be better than my brother. But this last year with you- I don't know... I felt 'happy' for the first time. I did things because I wanted too, not because I had too. The time we spend together, the dinners, the parties, even the fighting. I feel happy when ever we're like this... Naruto said this means I loved you and he felt the same when he was with that Hyuuga girl... and now I think the same too."
Sasuke was still looking at the scenery, almost as if he hadn't just confessed his feelings to Sakura, but his eyes weren't the cold, calculating ones she'd usually see- they were the soft, happy ones she'd occasionally see, the entire cities light's could be seen reflecting off of them- lighting his eyes up. She felt a warm feeling in her stomach. She leaned closer to Sasuke and sighed contently feeling his body warmth washing over her.
"You know what... I feel the same too."
They just sat there, close to each other for god know's how long- then suddenly they heard a cheer and lights flickering on below them.
"The light's back on. Wanna go back?"
"No... I wanna stay like this for just a while longer."
