Chapter 1
Roaming around the cabin Skye took in her new temporary home for who knows how long this time. Coulson said it was to give her time, but she didn't want time. She wanted to be with her friends, her family. Walking over to the sink she slid the gloves Jemma made for her off letting the waterfall onto her arms smiling at how good it felt. She looked at the water to see it in a spiral and realized she was doing this, she was creating the spirals. She shifted her focus to have them run up and down and her smile grew. She was doing this, not destruction for once but something beautiful.
Sitting on the couch she stared into the fire poking it sending sparks flying, she wasn't sure what she would do with all this time alone, suddenly she heard something outside grabbing the poker she started to look out the windows confused. Checking the security nothing seemed to be triggered, looking out the window again she saw a shadow near the door holding up the poker she approached the door and her mouth dropped as soon as Tony Stark walked through the front door.
"Uh, yea want to put down the poker there or are you going to attack me?" Tony raised a brow taking this girl in. Skye shook her head and lowered the poker,
"I don't think you are supposed to be here" she walked back over to the fireplace setting down the poker,
"No offense but this technically my cabin, and who are you?" She turned looking him up and down and seeing he had a bag, well shit
"I was told this is Fury's cabin? My name is Skye" she crossed her arms making her wince a little since they were still sore.
"It is his cabin but I technically bought it for him to use, so Skye why are you here who told you about this cabin anyway?" he set down his bag looking around. Skye didn't know what to say since she knew the Avengers thought Coulson was still dead but did he know Fury was still alive.
"I am with Shield I learn about this cabin from the director, and was told I can come to take some time out here" Tony raised a brow at her,
"Shield is gone, and there were only a few people who knew about this place and not all of them are alive" he sat on the couch next to the fire still staring at her smirking.
"So Skye who are you really?" before she could answer her phone rang and she rushed to it. May was on the other end hurried,
"Wait May what is going on?" Skye tried but May kept telling her to move that someone was coming,
"May I am not alone here," she said calmly looking at Tony who was now interested in her conversation
"Skye who is there with you, you need to get out now"
"Tony Stark, he showed up a little bit ago" Skye stared right at Tony while saying it she heard May curse,
"Put me on speaker Skye" Skye walked over to the Couches and placed the phone on speaker in between her and Tony,
"Tony it's been a while," Tony smiled
"Ah, Melinda how I have missed you" Skye's face went slack.
"Tony I promise an explanation later but you need to leave the cabin. There are people coming for Skye and will not hesitate to take you out to get to her" May said calmly and Skye flinched as she heard gunshots in the background.
"May what's going on, are you okay?" Skye was worried about what was going on at the base.
"Skye you need to run, now they are coming for you RUN!" with that, the line went dead and the power went out leaving her and Tony there in the dark with only the fire to light the dim room.
"Well care to join me? I can take you back to the city and wait for Melinda to make contact again?" Tony asked he wasn't sure who this Skye was but if Melinda was protecting her she was important.
"I can't, I can't be in a city right now," Skye said, hands balling into fists she was trying to calm herself. She couldn't risk going back to the city and causing damage. Tony gave her a curious look before slowly nodding,
" I can take you to another cabin, it hasn't been used in about 20 something years but it would be livable, it is near a lake too. It could be calming?" he never returned to that house, not since that night, but if this girl needed help he would take her there. Skye just stared at him for a minute before nodding and grabbing her bags.
"Let's hurry before they find out," Tony said running toward the jet he brought here, he got Skye on board quickly telling Jarvis where to go they heard the door of the cabin being knocked down before they shot into the sky leaving the cabin behind. Skye took a seat near the front of the jet looking down at the sticker that says Jarvis is my copilot and laughing softly. She turned to see Tony looking at her.
"Thank you, for getting me out of there," she said softly still looking around the jet, it was so similar to the jets they had too.
"So what makes you so important, why would they send fully armed units after one tiny girl?" Tony crossed his arms waiting, Skye took a long breath and she could trust an avenger right?
"A mission went bad, I ended up inside a temple of sorts and gained powers, I have been having a hard time controlling them so Co…..Shield thought it would be a good idea for me to try and have some time for me to learn to control them so I don't hurt anyone or myself." she rubbed her arms wondering if she should put on the gloves Jemma sent her again even though they made her a little woozy. Tony just nodded his head,
"Well at this cabin you should have plenty of time to gain control, what is your power by the way?"
"I make things shake, that's the best way I can describe it" she said looking at her arms again the bruising was less noticeable. Tony followed her stare to her arms,
"Is that how you got those bruises, your powers?" He pointed to her arms, and she nodded.
"I thought I was controlling them, but it turns out I was just directing them inward and hurting myself." Tony just nodded understanding.
"It will take a couple of hours to get there you should get some rest" with that he turned back to the controls as Skye laid her head back but decided to put on the gloves just in case before falling asleep.
