Digging for Dandelions
This is a light-hearted short Scrubs story
Due to the lovely SORAS of many younger characters, Emma's DOB was revised from 2008 to 2005. To keep the continuity Robin & Patrick have been together longer. (forgiving extended time apart) To account for Emma's conception and Scrubs courtship I'm changing their time together to 18 years.
For over four years Patrick, Robin, and Emma have been living an idyllic life in CA. Sure they weren't without issues, Emma due to two brilliant parents skipped a grade, got her driver's license, had a boyfriend, and then experienced her first heartbreak when he broke up with her. But none of that compared to leaving the life that violence PC, NY plagued them.
Robin and Patrick are enjoying a nice Saturday out on their deck drinking beers and watching their eldest dig up dandelions. "Mom", Emma complains, "cant you pay someone to do this? It's not as though you can't afford to pay for a gardener."
Robin replies, "I did promise your life would be very boring."
"But not this boring, mom. Help me out here dad."
Patrick laughs and asks, "boring enough to earn your way into your mother's used car?"
Emma retorts, "That's a lot of dandelions."
Robin says, "you aren't paying for my car with dandelions. You are learning the value of getting your hands dirty and like some of your other chores, doing some things you don't always like to do. No matter what decide to do when you grow up, there will always be something you don't like which includes digging for dandelions."
Patrick says, "that's it for today. Get cleaned up and you can dig holes for roses tomorrow."
